Went here for dinner and had a great time. The the ambiance is upscale and elegant. Appetizers were really good, steaks were tender and cooked perfectly to temp. Truffle Mac and cheese was my favorite side but you can't go wrong with any of them. Finally a DC quality steakhouse in Alexandria. Definitely worth a visit if you want to splurge a little bit. Definitely the best steak place in Old town!

Service was hit or miss like the hostess was amazing the waiter was ok no the best. Nice but just seemed confused. The food was mediocre, like the oysters were good but they put sugar lol yes sugar in the cocktail Sauce so it made them sweet weird combo. The other oysters were so filled with cream cheese . The $72 steak I had was once frozen I eat enough steak I can Tell the difference and when you rush and thaw out a steak everyone knows the meat is not the same so that was waste. The mushrooms were not good the mac and cheese was good. I’d highly recommend another place. I couldn’t see myself going back unless it was to see the awesome hostess

We walked in on a Saturday evening with no reservations, thankfully they were able to accommodate our party of 4. From the moment we were seated our waitress Josella ROCKED. The wine and beer selections were good, and we were all able to find something to quench our thirst. I highly recommend the Malbec, Familia Mayol, it pairs so well with steak! We started with Parkerhouse rolls but the real star was the Green Garlic Hummus, AMAZING! We ate the hummus so quickly no one was able to snap a pic! Our party ordered Steak Frites, petite filet, and the special of the night – 22oz dry aged ribeye (which was large enough to share). All the steaks were cooked perfectly. For our sides we ordered bravas potatoes, baked smoked gouda mac & cheese, and crispy brussels sprouts; the steak frites came with the beef-fat fries. The sauces & butters you can add to your steak are fun but not necessary. Everything was great! The standouts were the brussels sprouts and mac & cheese. We had not planned on ordering dessert but when Josella found out we were celebrating my birthday she brought out chocolate hazelnut cake and cheesecake for the table. The food was good, but Josella really made our evening and provided the best service we had received in a LONG time.

Really just disappointing… This restaurant is the definition of mediocre. The service was decent, not great which I would’ve expected for the price range of the restaurant. The waiting time for the food to be served was incredibly long. We came to the restaurant at 1845 and ordered around 1910. The appetizers were served around 1940 and the mains were served at 2010. The food quality was at best alright. By the time it got served we were starving and would’ve eaten anything. Way too overpriced for what it was. Coming from Europe and working in the restaurant industry I was expecting a little bit more especially spending that much money. I would not consider to come back here again.

Well, we did not actually have any steak here, but our experience was great nevertheless. Our waiter, Catherine, was friendly and helpful the entire time. We sat outside and it was very nice and relaxing. We had a few drinks, the seafood tower (oysters, shrimp, kind grab, and house ceviche) which was great, and the rolls. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and felt well taken care of, but not to the point of being watched. Definitely will be coming back soon!

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. Very glad that this restaurant participated in restaurant week so that gave us a chance to try it. Large selection of wines and spirits. One of the best steaks (filet mignon) I've ever had and cooked perfectly. The dessert was decadent. Would absolutely return here again.

We went here for my birthday dinner and it was SO GOOD. The filet was cooked perfectly. The baked and fried potato was so freakin' delicious!! Wine was fantastic. The bartender made the best dirty martini I've ever had. Our waiter was so nice and easy to talk to. Highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back for our next steak fix!

The Oak Steakhouse was a superb spot to dine. Great atmosphere, superb wait staff, and excellent food. I enjoyed the cowboy steak and loved all but the first bite - just a little too much char. I don't even like mentioning it because everything else was spot on. Drop in to start or end on the best note.

What a charming place. We didn’t have a reservation on an early Friday evening but we were quickly seated. The waiter took a little time to greet us however things quickly improved. My drink was great, Boy in Venus I believe it was called. The oysters were the best I’ve had in the area. Our entrees were amazing I had the short rib and pierogies and for dessert the rosemary semifreddo. Everything was outstanding. The ambiance was casual but sexy, the playlist outstanding (thanks Todd), the noise level was controlled quiet chatter, lots of happy faces with glasses of red wine. My kind of vibe. First visit but not my last, can’t wait to get back there. Perfect place to unwind after a busy week. I’d prefer not to share, to keep it a secret, but this place deserves the praise.

Went there for mothers 76th birthday. Second visit to oak. 5pm. Place was empty, all lights dimmed. So dark we could not read menu. When I asked to raise the lights. It was not well received. Place filled with people fast. Wait staff became Way to busy to pay attention to table as the prices charged deserved. Table for five next to kitchen. Lots of running around us. Kind of distracting. All food was really well presented and flavorful. When served wait staff dumped a plate on the table spilling the sauce every where. Had to ask for a new table setting. All food was delivered at same time. Table was way to small for five. Little room after all the food was delivered. Ny strip was tough but delivered cooked as requested. Rib eyes were perfect, but were not butchered properly thin on one side thick on other. Pork belly outstanding. Cesar salad also. Mom did get free desert for her birthday but not delivered with any fan fair as would have been done in any other place. Family style sides? Small. More proportioned for one. Except for asparagus and fries. Beef fat fries not to my taste, heave greasy feel to them. Not oily. Just not for me Cost dinner for 5 including one beer and on bottle house pinot Grigio. $ 790.00. Tip included %15. Overall. First visit a year ago much better than this visit. Don't think i would return. I should note the overall opinion of 5 was LongHorne steak house same quality steak. 1/3 the cost. Not such an upscale venue. But would have been a better choice for moms birthday

Had a wonderful experience here for dinner! From Todd Hunt the general manager who accommodated our request, to Greg and Parris who were both amazing servers, to the incredible chef and kitchen staff - all of the team was superb! Food was our of this world! Highly recommend the Foie Gras as an appetizer AND side dish, and you absolutely cannot go wrong with any steak on the menu. Great for date night or special occasion. It was our first time dining at Oak Steakhouse, and it most definitely will not be our last.

Very friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. I had the ribeye steak and it was scumptious. House bread is really good as well, but I feel bread should be included in a meal. Charge a few dollars extra for my steak and let me think I received free bread!

Customer service defines any product or service. Those familiar with me are aware that fine dining is my personal work/life balance. I'm almost on the brink of needing a twelve-step program for my food passion... lol. Tonight, I want to talk about my time at Oak Steakhouse in Alexandria, Virginia... Here’s how the night unfolded… Upon arriving, the hostess and GM warmly welcomed me, making me feel valued right from the start on my first visit. I got a seat with a view of their open kitchen and ample space to live stream for my 'Restaurants USA' food group on Facebook, where I, along with around twenty thousand others, celebrate our shared passion for food. To wet the appetite, we start with the Bramblin Man… (two actually, sooo good!). Deep Eddy Vodka, Blackberry Infused Lilith Blanc, Blackberry Liquor, Orange Ice. Then came the Charcuterie Board. Berkshire, Pork Pate, Prosciutto, Mortadella, Dijon Mustard, Cornichon, Frisée and Radish. Add to that, well…, just because… Italian Burrata. Heirloom Tomatoes, Basil, Cucumber, Radish, Maldon Sea Salt.… For the main, a warm, pink center, perfectly prepared Snake River Farms, Wagyu Fillet accompanied by a Baked Smoked Gouda, Mac, and Cheese, Crispy Fried Brussel Sprouts. Apple cider, Soy Caramell, Fried Shallots. And to finish it off… An apple and cherry cobbler. This Bourbon, Soaked Cherries and sorghum Ice Cream almost put me into a food coma. And of course, my signature cappuccino… Thank you Todd Hunt (GM) and Rich of The Indigo Road Hospitality Group for the incredible customer service experience. I’ll be back! Kudos to you Steve Palmer for putting together such an incredible team! #finedining #restaurants #customerservice #customerserviceexperience #itsallabouttheguest

Went in for a quick early bite to eat at the bar. Dan was my bartender/server and did an amazing job. The food was great 10oz filet with mash potatoes and the oyster Rockefeller as an app. If your in the area and are looking for a great steak make sure to stop in.

The menu was not too big but the food was exquisite with nice exploding flavors at the same time not overwhelming. Wine selection is nice from different parts of the world including US.. And the service was first class. I had the bone marrow as an appetizer, and the nuddi pasta just perfect. Thank you for a lovely evening of a culinary experience.

Ordered medium rare NY Strip, got a medium well. Inexcusable for a steakhouse. Nice place, but I would not recommend for a great steak.

Took my boyfriend here for a birthday date while we were visiting the area. We had a great time, the ambiance was stellar and the food was amazing! Not a big steak girl but ate so much. The sides & dessert (complete with an edible chocolate that had happy birthday written on it) were truly delectable. The bread is a must, they have perfected it. The best part of the entire night & restaurant was our server Josh! He was so attentive and gave us the best service ever. I would recommend asking for Josh as a server - he really curated a core memory for us!
