Newtown Budget is my second home. I am a regular resident every few weeks for work (staying for sometimes weeks at a time), and this by far is one of my favourite places to stay. Staff are extremely welcoming, and the room pricing is great value. The cleanliness overall is brilliant, and the housekeeping staff are amazing at their job. Super close to so many great locations and public transport options are perfect. Also, rather close to Sydney Airport, which is even better. I highly recommend staying here to any of my friends and family who decide to come and visit Sydney.

Great value. Room 12 is huge. Location is unbeatable. Comfy beds. Newly painted and clean.

When there’s leaking toilet water all over the bathroom floor and the tiles are stuck on with packing tape, I will not say I’ll be coming back. Snot wiped on the wall too. Not access friendly due to so many flights of stairs. No lifts!!!! If you have trouble with stairs and have heaps of bags or are needing lifts for accessibility…don’t bother going here. NOT coming back :)

Not too bad for the price but bathroom was a bit janky and there were several cockroaches

The staff were friendly and gave great customer service, the rooms are a reasonably price, beds very clean and comfortable. It is a budget hotel and is a good place to stay, especially if you are going to the Enmore Theatre.

NBH is in the heart of Newtown. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants. A bus stop is located out the front. It is well organised and extremely well run. Very friendly and helpful staff The hotel including room was clean and quiet. Great price, great location and easy access to transport. I will be back.

Awesome hotel, nice staff, great price, decent rooms and a great bed. Definitely recommend if your looking for somewhere for a couple nights thats affordable and close to a lot of great locations. The reviews don’t do this place justice. Great place 👍

Bathroom was in dire need of repair. Leaky floor and sticky tape holding things together. Cheeky at $160

Worst service ever, I have never encounter anything like that. We booked a room with them 2 weeks leading up to our Sydney trip. 3 days before the trip they called and said our booking has been cancelled, the person that called can't even speak proper English and it was very hard to understand him. We were told our booking had been cancelled and there's nothing we can do about it. Very disappointing, I won't recommend anyone to book with them. I would give zero stars if I could.

I booked Double room and Twin room with my partner and friends. Both rooms were really clean and we could here all sound from hallway. Double room was in 1st floor, too dmall and too dark.. like underground room. But Twin room was 3rd floor really bright, enough space, had balcony with nice view!! Both rooms price were similar.

Feel like I was robbed. We did not get our "key deposit" back in full because we consumed two bottles of water in the fridge. However, it was not written anywhere that there was a charge (two photos to prove it) so we kindly asked the man who took care of us if it was normal to charge without warning in advance. he insisted on keeping us 10 dollars, and took it without giving us a choice (our deposit had been deposited in cash). We think this is not fair, it seems like theft. We took photos of the place which clearly show that there is no written statement stating that drinks were chargeable.

Room was clean, although a little bit outdated. I would leave in the morning and won’t get back until the evening. Towels were replaced and bed was made when I returned. I requested to be placed in a room with windows/balcony (for natural light) and this request was accommodated. They don’t have a lift/elevator though. This wasn’t a problem for me as my bags were light enough but do keep this in mind. Bathrooms are also cleaned once a day, which is good but hopefully people from neighboring rooms keep it clean as well. Overall pretty good value hotel to stay at if you’re on a budget :))

Clean and basic but very practical for airport trips and dining.

Aircon worked well, easy checkin before 9 Great location, many things broken in bathroom and dodgy repairs to walls and doors etc

Stayed two nights, both during rainy weather, first night the window would not close leaving rain and wind to enter as well as traffic noise. Second “night” the door jamb on balcony door leaked like a shower head, causing the floor to become almost fully flooded by the time we left the room. In response the manager gave us towels to soak up the water and very little help otherwise. After asking for a refund we were told that we would receive one as long as we left, at 7:30 pm.... when other accommodations in the area were unavailable. The manager told us this issue had been happening for the last four years! BUT WAIT as I am writing this the lights in the new room we had just been moved into have blown! We understand that weather conditions do factor into this but it is no excuse for poor hospitality and a general lack of understanding of guest needs let alone basic upkeep. I would not recommend this place for anyone looking to have a solid roof over their head for the night.

Great location , awesome staff very helpful. Shared bathroom not an issue as you get what you pay for. Very clean room and reception area. Will definitely return.

It really is just okay. It's in the name; it's a budget hotel, you don't get much but you also dont get a bad experience (I did only stay one night, so it could vary from room to room and according to length of stay)

It is what it says on the can…a perfectly good budget hotel near the airport. Staff are pleasant. No idea why people are downvoting this. Ate locally, slept well, went to the airport.

Rooms are clean, beds are good without bugs. Bathroom is shared but there are at least 2 on our floor so no trouble getting the shower or toilet. No aircon only ceiling fan but weather was good for us at the time.

Called today for some details, was greeted with a unenthusiastic "Hello" where I then had to confirm I was calling the right number. The person had horrible customer service skills and asked me "what do I mean" when I asked what time check out was for their rooms. Safe to say I did not book because of how shady this interaction was. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Great accomodation for no fuss. The price was right, and it beats any type of shared accomodation. Downsides - no kitchen, fridge was not clean, bathroom is tiny. Short term it's great for what it is.

I enjoyed high tea at Como the treasury. I loved the venue and presentation of the food. The tea was average. The finger sandwiches were tasty however the bread didn't taste fresh and was a bit hard. The crab treat was delicious. Scones we're nicely made. The sweets were all pretty good. I feel they were too chocolate dominant - I would've liked more freshness included with them in general. Overall I was quite pleased and would consider returning.

Booked in a last minute single room (shared bathroom) and my check-in was due to be done at 11.00 PM. The kid at the front desk woke up and got me in and simply smiled at the reservation, saying: "I have upgraded your room to a double room since it was vacant, my treat." The room was decent sized, clean and nice. Great service, great place; especially what I paid for ($65 for a double room at the last minute).

Excellent value. We've stayed in lots of budget accommodation in Sydney and this is by far the best. Lovely little balcony, clean, comfy bed, great location. Would definitely recommend. When you read some of the negative reviews its unfair because some people expect too much for what they pay for. All i care about is cleanliness, comfy bed, location and all the facilities you need. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the sunset lodge. It is close to the airport, has a plethora of restaurants around for choice of dining and is as convenient as can be. Katherine the outgoing receptionist is hands down the most welcoming and friendly member of staff we have had the pleasure of engaging with. Couldn't recommend more! RUN!! Place smells of cat and cigarettes. Maybe the private bathrooms are ok but I unfortunately booked a shared bathroom and it was GROSS. The decor in the reception area is beautiful, but take a look inside the bathroom to the right of the tv. I tried several times to upgrade to a private bath or find another place but alas, it was not to be :( They supposedly have free breakfast but there is no way I would touch it. The best thing about this place was the shuttle bus driver who came to take me away to the airport, very prompt and pleasant guy.
