Update: renovations are complete and the cinema looks glorious. Comfy seating in the public areas for lounging before movie session. Licensed snack bar so chill and enjoy a drink. Snack bar also offers hot beverages - teas and coffees - and the sweet bags are a throwback to 80s milk bar and corner store treats. Really lovely cinema. Currently celebrating 85 years by showing 85 classic films. Some really great choices. Beautiful Art Deco cinema in the Randwick. The cinema is undergoing renovations to add additions screens as well as upgrades to seating and cinema tech but keeping the Art Deco aesthetic which is cool. The cinema hosts film festivals as well as screenings of classic movies alongside the latest releases. There is parking directly next door with a flat rate of $7 with a validated ticket. Staff are friendly. Current covid restrictions adhered to.

It has been a few years since I was last here and I got a delightful surprise with how much the Ritz Cinema has changed. The Cinema looks so much better and updated now

Came to see the Matrix for a 845pm start they didn't start playing it until we complained to the customer service counter as it was already after 9pm. No one was there to make sure things are working. The cinema lights weren't properly dimmed as they played the previews. What a shane nice venue but terrible service. Avoid this cinema as there are better ones nearby.

I still remember first coming here on a Monday 37yrs ago as part of the ritual with my friends to watch the new releases, when I was just 20yrs old. There was threats of it shutting down for good, VHS tapes had taken over in the video stores. So we grouped together a number of us in the local area & went to the $5 night, got to watch 2 movies for that price :) It's old school Grandeur can't be matched....

First time at this venue to watch Oppenheimer. One of the few places in Sydney which still show film in 70mm. I really enjoyed the vibe of this place. Cinema 1 has two tiered seating, chairs don't recline so not as comfortable. Parking can be difficult but the Wilson's does cheaper parking if seeing a film. Couple of restaurants in the area also do film ticket meal deals so look around.

Really love that this place is consistently showing classic films on celluloid, but at every single 35mm and 70mm screening I’ve been to, I’ve experienced technical issues. At my screening of Taxi Driver on 35mm, the film started and then right around the title card, its just stopped and we sat in darkness for several minutes before it abruptly started up again from where it had stopped. Even worse, at screenings for The Matrix on 35mm and The Master on 70mm, the films started without any sound at all, and played like that for several minutes. In both cases, the sound eventually came on, but the film wasn’t restarted, and the issue wasn’t acknowledged by staff. It’s frustrating to have these experiences tainted in this way, because it’s very rare that you get to experience these films in their original format, and the Ritz is one of the only places in Sydney which offers screenings of classics on celluloid. It’s a shame that they don’t seem to care about delivering a polished experience.

Cheap tickets and W cinemas. Very comfortable vibes..they've greatly improved their popcorn as well. Just need to do a better job at cleaning under the seats after each session. Not really complaining as I found a full bucket of free popcorn whilst watching Thor

A beautiful theatre that has been around for year's. They have upgraded the seats and the foyer is now very different from how it use to be. Very nice to see these changes still fitting in with the Retro style. The tickets were $25 dollars each for two adults but they have deals on special days and discounts for seniors, students and members. Check their website.

Great local cinema in Randwick. Its small but its cosy and the price is reasonable. Use to come here to watch movie but now due to covid it has coverted to a community video store where you can come here to borrow a DVD or VHS tapes to bring home to watch for free and return back anytime or donate your old DVDs to share with the local community.

Very lovely cinema. They’ve done renovations and it looks great. They play a lot of old movies which is fantastic and Australian movies. They have events and Australian movie tributes to our movie industry. They also have special screenings and they give senior and pension discounts which is fabulous and member discounts. I prefer Ritz cinema.

What a great cinema! Went to see Rashomon in cinema 1. Lots of cool ads and news reels from 1950, curtains in front of the screen, very nostalgic. The candy bar had beer, wine and cocktail options as well as a fantastic raspberry brownie. Felt like going to the movies was a special occasion again

I took my family to see Dungeons & Dragons over the Easter weekend. Online booking couldn't be easier and I recommend a membership to gain access to discount ticket prices. Very comfortable and architecturally stunning. Candy bar has something for everyone.

Great classic cinemas. Added bonus that they show films in 70mm. Saw Oppenheimer and it was fantastic. Seats are super comfortable too. Tiny bit of bass rumble in the rear of cinema 1 but I guess that’s expected from a cinema this age and such a sound heavy Nolan film. Highly recommended.

Would give 5 stars to this gorgeous old cinema but for the sound. We watched Oppenheimer here in 70mm (thanks for keeping the projectors guys) and enjoyed it a lot, but the downstairs side speakers sounded like old bangers and couldn't cope with the extremes of the soundtrack. Would be great if there was a better sound system given the dynamics of modern film sound.

As someone who missed the "golden age" of cinemas, the place is an absolute gem. I had the privilege of watching Midnight Cowboy here and the reel they played included old advertisements and even a section on the moon landing. It was an experience I never knew I needed. This place is timeless

I absolutely loved the cinema and the experience that I had when watching Drive in 35mm. This place is a gem and I think every movie lover in this town should check it out! 5 stars for Ritz ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Love coming here to see a movie! Just come a bit early to get good seats if you are seeing a very popular movie on an opening weekend. Popcorn always tastes great.

Old style cinema experience with modern twist. Great screens and acoustic in every venue. Plus the cafe inside is not too bad: has good food and is fully licensed

Beautiful old world theater that looks exactly as it did 50 years ago, except there are now 5 cunemas, whereas then there was only 1. They have kept the original 1920's style while providing modern services. Nice balcony to have a drink while the sun sets and you wait for the movie to start

I absolutely love this cinema. The location is very lively and fantastic too. This is my go to cinema whenever the Sydney Film Festival is on. Fun fact, Quentin Tarantino has used one of the male restrooms back in 2016 and there is a memorial for that there!

Nostalgia meets modern entertainment! This charming and gorgeous movie theatre has recently been retrofitted but doesn’t lose its old timely charm. Upstairs cocktail lounge is the perfect place to enjoy a port movie drink :)

The cinema is such a nice boutique way of watching movies The night we watched a movie The owner came out to thank us all for coming. It was very wholesome. So great to support a family run business where the owners care about their patrons. Keep up the great atmosphere.

It's close to me and cheaper than most cinemas. I love that they have a great range from current to classic movies. The chairs are pretty uncomfortable for me being a tall person. But the cinema is alright. Great selection of expensive snacks and the choc tops are good.
