What an experience! Best take a taxi, phone ahead to make a reservation and be greeted at the top of the narrow cobbled streets for an escorted 4 minute walk to an unmarked door. When the door opens you are warmly greeted and invited into a dreamlike ancient property in an open courtyard setting. The rooftop bar is an experience all by itself but this isn't a suitable option for people with limited mobility, due to steep stairs. The waiting staff, food service, decorated tables and music feel incredibly authentic. If ever we are in Marrakech again we would have no hesitation to rebook or recommend to others.

We went to this restaurant upon our arrival to Marrakech based on reviews, and we absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was incredibly beautiful and peaceful, it has an authentic feel to it, and it’s very different. We ordered the chicken tajin, lamb tajin, and some briouat. Everything was absolutely delicious and the qualities were filling. The service was really good, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had some traditional Moroccan tea at the end, and it was veryyy tasty. All in all, I think this was my favorite restaurant all throughout the visit, it’s highly recommended.

The restaurant is pretty with belly dance performance on Sundays. We ordered drinks at the rooftop then had our mains downstairs. The vibes on the rooftop is pretty chill. We ordered chicken&vegetables cous cous and royal trid - food was mediocre but portion was generous. The female receptionist was very friendly but the male waiters were not that attentive. When it comes to payment, we didn’t have enough cash with us at the time so we opt for card payment. The waiter asked us if we have cash or if we can do half cash half card payment. We told him no as we don’t have enough cash with us and HE WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. Appreciate the tipping culture here but with the service and food that we got was NOT TIP WORTHY. Especially not after him trying to make us pay by cash. If the restaurant doesn’t take card payments, then don’t offer it as a form of accepted payment.

Absolutely amazing, from the minute we stepped in to the minute we left, we were served drinks on the roof top then taken downstairs for food, there was a wide choice and a couple of set menu choices, we chose 4 courses for 400drh and there was so much of it, soup, bread, beef on cous cous with delicious veg, slices of orange with cinnamon finished with mint tea and some biscuits, I'm still full 5 days later lol

My spouse and I picked the "Menu Gourmand" for dinner and it was a very pleasing dining experience. The food was good, on time and warm. The service was excellent, all servers were very polite and helpful. The atmosphere makes it special, the riad itself is beautiful and authentic decoration and Moroccan music makes it unique. If you visit on Thursdays amd Sundays, there is an oriental dance show starts around 9:30pm too! Definitely a "must go" in Marrakech!

Really a very beautiful riad with a nice staff . Really a stunning place.ceiling are just exceptional. Shame that the food is alright . It s good . But it s not amazing . They are places with more love in the plate and cheeper. They have very good Moroccan wine . We have been to the other riad too witch is just amazing . But for me even if the lamb neck tagine was very good something is missing from the cooking . Would love them to go in some restaurant i have been too to relise what good food is compare to average.

Nice food, especially the mosaic salad. The lamb was on point, truly delicious. Lost one star because it was quite stressful to get to the restaurant due to some children trying to scam people in the surroundings. This could be avoidable with simple signs pointing to the restaurant’s direction.

Love this place for their attentive service and great ambiance. Staff are friendly and always looking out for your needs. This place feels like a Moroccan palace. They also performed traditional live instrumental music during dinner. Food is good and there is a wide variety of choices.

This place is very accommodating. Excellent service, you are treated like a 5-star guest. The food is both authentic and flavorful and also diverse in choices. Rooftop for drinks before dinner is a nice touch too. Would definitely recommend. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

Enjoyed the whole experience of weaving in and out of the small Medina passages before reaching the Riad. The building is incredible and you are instantly taken back in time. The staff are warm and friendly and couldn’t do more to make us feel at ease. We chose 2 tagines which were both very rich. I only wish we were had the couscous on the side. If you are looking for a great Moroccan experience, look no further!

An extraordinary restaurant in a 17th century Moroccan architectural setting with excellent traditional food and service. If you want to experience Moroccan cusine and hospitality at its best definitely the place to be.

Food was good, not great - we got one of the tasting menus for the two of us and added two dishes. It was way too much food. The chocolate mousse dessert was delightful. The service was painfully slow and we waited on the rooftop patio for 1.5 hours for them to bring us to our table. They allowed us to make a reservation but I don’t think they realized their dinner service hadn’t started, resulting in the 1.5 hour wait time. The service and time are the reasons for the 3-Star review

Everything super. Highly recommended. For those who are Italian, ask for Hicham. Courteous and competent. He will be able to advise you on this journey of tastes and flavours. One of the best restaurants in Marrakech. You have to book. The taxi will take you to the nearest point and there you will find an employee with a badge who will take you to the restaurant. Excellent value for money. Special lamb. Amazing saffron creme brulee.

We went there for lunch around 2:00 pm. The place was quite empty. We sat at the rooftop, which is cute and charming. The food (briwouat, zaalouk and tride) was less than average. I wouldn’t go back.

Thank you for this delicious moment in this magnificent palace where you feel good. A sweet, romantic break outside of time and far from the incessant hubbub of the medina. The traditional white outfit adds extra charm, harmony and softness to the place. The waiters are calm, whispering. We greatly appreciated being taken and accompanied to our taxi in these alleys which can impress... And I end with the main thing, we had a blast!

Really special !!! all the wine list was Moroccan!! reds, white, rosé, "grey"..?! (except for champagne!!) drinks on roof terrace. Music during dinner, from a musician. The salad starter... dramatic!!! The beef tajine... yummy!! The lamb shoulder... tasty (but a little "dry"?)... a beautiful high quality, last night treat!! Recommended!! :) Stunning service from ALL the staff!!

You may think this restaurant is expensive BEFORE you eat, but be patient and enjoy the food. Make sure you're hungry before eating. The portions are large, but exquisite and delicious. The value for money is excellent and front of house Ella is a delight!

Just came back from Dar Zellij after having the best meal we've had during our time in Morocco. Drinks on the terrace of the riad overlooking the medina was followed by an exquisite meal in the courtyard. I highly recommend the mosaic salad and the mouthwatering tajina marrakesh- the restaurants speciality. What really made our meal that extra bit special was the superb hospitality and the amazing atmospheric setting - a preserved 17th century riad in candlelight.

You must visit. The interior is absolutely beautiful. Top service. The beat rajin I've had in marrakech. Get the beef shin with prunes and almonds. 10/10. Exceptional dinning experience. We came 3 times in a week after finding this the best the city has to offer for fine dinning. The soup is to die for... Elegant, delicious, and gorgeous architecture

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant, the service was lovely. Our evening started by a drink on the Terrace and then, they brought us to our table. We went for the discovery menu and received so much tasty food (If you’re not a big eater I recommend sharing the menu). It was also my birthday, so with the dessert they brought a small candle and came singing at our table. When you leave the restaurant, they propose to get to your Riad with a guide. Again thank you very much for this beautiful evening 🙏

The ambiance was great, the food is good and the shows make it a completely memorable dining experience. I really recommend this restaurant!! They made a really good Irish coffee. This being my guilty pleasure made it heavenly! Only thing that annoyed me was a young performer who gave me a hat to swing round as part of the performance and than begging to give him money. Respect the customers please, even when they are obviously a tourist. But thats on this particular performer, not on the restaurant. All the other performances where absolutely great and have a wonderful show and party experience. Loved it!!

Very nice resto in the heart of the Medina. Attentive service, great atmosphere and decor. Food was well prepared but not as tasty or different as you'd expect from an upscale spot.

Lovely experience at this restaurant! When we arrived we were taken up to the terrace for a drink. We then came back down to the restaurant for dinner and the food was delicious. Waiters are very kind and the doorman actually walked us back 10 minutes to our riad! Definitely recommend for a relaxing, classy dinner- they have a man playing the violin which adds to the ambience.

Me and my wife came here after having read the impressive reviews online. We were in search of an authentic, romantic and architecturally impressive restaurant. We were not disappointed to say the least. We were met by a very kind person who escorted us through the narrow streets and all the way to the restaurant. When we reached the restaurant we were showed the pretty and quiet rooftop terrace where we could enjoy a cold drink before starting our meal. The food and service was amazing. Thank you so much to all the employees at Dar Zellij for this awesome experience. Will visit again when back in Marrakesh, inshallah.

Foods are delicious, place looks good and there’s a belly dancer during the dinner time. The fish pie is partially cold so not a 5 star.

This restaurant was an absolute delight and felt like true fine dining. From the moment we found the guide to the restaurant to stepping inside throughout the whole meal, we were so delighted with the food, ambiance, and entire experience. The entrance smells of roses, and they had a musician playing oud and singing - made for a deeply enjoyable time! For our meal, the food was perfectly balanced and flavored - we started with harira soup and briouates. For the meal, I had lamb couscous and my husband had lamb shoulder. Dessert was saffron crème brûlée and Moroccan tea. We also happened to be here on a Thursday and saw the belly dancer! She looked to be having a grand time and enjoying herself. We loved our evening here, and plan to return when we are back in Marrakech! Would not be surprised if this place lands itself a Michelin star.

Fabulous food in a beautifully decorated 17th century home ❤️ Love both appetiser (fish pastilla) and beef shin tagine which is still sizzling when it got to my table. Host is very welcoming and humorous too. I had a wonderful time and looking forward to be back for sunset drinks on rooftop
