Lovely rooftop restaurant. I had the Berber Tagine (lamb with vegetable) which was very good. The stairway to the restaurant is narrow, tucked in between the merchant’s booths, very easy to miss if you were not specifically looking for it. Google map did a good job locating it, which is not always the case in the Medina of Morocco. The stairway is very steep.

The food is fresh, delicious and reasonably priced! We had the absolute best lunch ever. We tried so many wonderful dishes that it was hard to choose just one favorite. Planning to return soon.

The food is outstanding, full of flavour, well arranged on your plate, nice attention to details. The service was great, 2 very shy young man helped us, both of them were lovely and smile. The place is cute, very cute, you can see the chefs preparing the food as you go to the rooftop, the view is surreal, I loved it. My only suggestion for the owners would be to play some traditional Moroccan music to cherry up the atmosphere, but overall all a great place to go for lunch or dinner. (keep in mind they do not serve drinks with alcohol)

This is a great little hidden gem. If you are walking to fast through the market you will absolutely miss it. To find this lovely little place you need to slow down and appreciate where you are. I had an amazing kefta tajine and a beautiful salad. The staff was also very kind and happy to help you in any way they could.

Being lost in the maze of alleyways in the Medina I stumbled across Cafe Zaza. You must be well on foot to climb the steep and narrow staircases. But you'll be rewarded with a nice view on the rooftop terrace. I had Zaalouk, a tasty Moroccan eggplant salad together with a fresh avocado-orange juice. The food was good. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. I'd go there again.

Hidden door way in the souk but easily found when following google maps. Steep stairs to the roof top tables but worth the climb. The food was lovely and seemed reasonably priced. I would recommend.

It's a rooftop restaurant with somewhat of a cramped seating. But the food here is top-notch. All the dishes we tried were spot-on and perfectly spiced. We tried a tajine, chicken pastilla, and a harira soup and all were amazing. I would recommend getting the morrocon salad along as it pairs well with the spicy food. This is certainly one of the must-eat places in Marrakech.

Good quality for cheap price. Chicken pastilla is great, having both savoury and sweet taste. Surprisingly not many restaurants in the medina area have pastila in their menu; I really enjoy this dish. Lamb chop is quite fatty; it tastes quite ok but nothing special. Staff is nice and friendly. The view on rooftop is superb and worth a visit due to this.

Very decent restaurant with one caveat: CASH only - do beware. Stairs leading to the restaurant are quite steep too. Food was good with big portion yet fairly priced. I ordered Berber tagine thought it was a good one. The terrace provides a good view of this part of town (not too much to see for Marrakech skyline) - always a positive though.

We came here after landing in Marrakesh & it was a very good choice. the rooftop terrace is very nice & cosy. Staff were nice & we really enjoyed passing time here watching the lively souk market. We had salty & sweet pastilla. Both of them were really tasty. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

I went in and ordered the zaalouk and the salty zaza chicken pastilla, the pastilla was one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had! Had no expectations but this dish just blew my mind. Other than that, the restaurant has a cozy terrace with a nice view of the marrakech horizon. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and the salty chicken pastilla!

A bunch of stairs to get to this tiny terrace restaurant. The menu is a bit limited, which is not a bad thing and the server did not speak much english. None of that mattered because the food was absolutely delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and watching the sun set over the medina.

Very authentic & delicious food. Waiter was super attentive & friendly. Nice terrace with a good view to watch the sunset & the busy street/place underneath. We would come back.

One of those hidden gems. Very reasonably priced and the food is delicious. The waiter was very nice and took pictures of our group on request. Situated above a clothes shop, this rooftop-only restaurant there are two flights of stairs. There is a breeze throughout the day and night to keep you cool. The restaurant is quite small, but the food really does shine. We went to this place twice.

Right when you’ll take the stairs up you’ll know this place is special. Very affordable generous dishes made with love. Don’t miss the Harira soup. The Mech Mech lamb tagine was superb as well. I was smiling throughout the meal.

Really nice and tiny place in the centre of medina. The terrace is a perfect place to eat far from the caos of the streets. A really pleasant breeze can be enjoyed during the hottest hour of the day. Food very tasty, big portions. The price is right.

So nice we had it twice! Everything was extremely tasty and thoughtfully prepared. Would highly recommend the zalouk (eggplant dip), lamb chops, and chicken tagine w/ lemon & olive. Great rooftop terrace with a view!

We had some of our best food in that place, everything taste amazing, perfectly seasoned. Very generous quantity for super good prices. You'll have a nice view on a rooftop really close to the Jemaa el fna but far enough to have a peaceful dinner. I really recommend this great place, the people working there are super nice and the chef is very skilled.

The restaurant has a top level terrace with good views. Reasonable price and portion size, but more importantly great tasting. We had the lamb and prune targine and mince in tomatoes and egg... delicious

A brilliant little place. Food excellent and freshly cooked which does mean you'll wait a while for it. Good views. Hard to find - look out for the narrow and steep staircase. Good olive stalls right behind this place. Careful when exiting the toilet - the door is low and I almost knocked myself out. Had a big lump on my head after walking into the door frame.

We came here twice for the lamb with prunes because it was fantastic - best tagine we had in Marrakesh. We also tried the couscous - but tagine is much better. The marocain salad and zaalouk (aubergine-tomato salad) were also very nice. Fully recommend this place

The vegetarian couscous is out of this world and the pastilla is delicious! If you want an authentic Moroccan meal with a very homie vibe, don’t look any further. We even had the chance to talk to Zaza (the chef) who was so sweet and genuine. Could truly see how passionate she is to maintain a cuisine from her heart.

The service and the food are excellent. I had a delicious Moroccan salade and a succulent lamb couscous. The servings are big especially the couscous that can feed two.

This is a little gem! Local, authentic and really tasty food. Freshly made bread was served with the food. We both had fresh juices! Moroccan salad 🥗 Vegetable briwates Lamb tagine All to share and it was delicious! Really well priced too. Came to 210 MAD

Probably my favorite tagine in the whole Medina (I tried a few…). The meat melts in your mouth and is very tender. Delicious!

Gorgeous traditional Moroccan food. The lamb tagine and chicken pastilla were ace and very generous portions. Prices were more than reasonable (220 MAD for two mains, a water, soft drink and smoothie). Can’t recommend enough. Also, reviews saying service is slow, we ordered and received our meals within 25 mins of orders (with a packed restaurant) so we found it quite speedy!

One of the most delicious meals we had in Marrakech. The food was divine, service was impeccable and a great rooftop ambience. Highly recommend their grilled lamb chops and meat couscous (ask for hot sauce on the side, if you prefer a kick in your meals). A hidden gem in Jemaa el-Fna. The place gets busy pretty quickly during lunch and dinner, so make sure to come early.

Really nice experience. Best food so far in Marrakech - worth way more than nomad in terms of flavour and portion and good for value. Love the pumpkin soup, salad, lampchop and skewers. Would definitely come again.

Exceptionally good place! The service is lovely, the food tastes out of this world, and the location overlooks Jmaa El Fna and its buzz. The Bastilla Chicken is a must try!!

After lots of research for an authentic Moroccan couscous and tagine restaurant with great sunset views- we found Cafe Chez Zaza! The food was incredible and the views at sunset are just gorgeous 🫶 Highly recommend the pumpkin soup (unexpectedly amazing), vegetarian couscous, and tagine!

Only recommendation in town, especially for those who are looking for less exotic flavour. Here we order pumpkin soup, chicken skewers and lamb chops. Good flavour in general, beat those scammers in the square for sure.

Visited Zaza twice and definitely will come back again. A bit scary stairs :) but fantastic (!) food and very nice service (and decent price). Everything is sooooo delicious! Definitely one of our favourite spots in Marrakesh!

Lovely terrace where you can enjoy the sunset. I had the chicken tajine which was tasty but dry unfortunately. Be careful of the steep steps on your way up.

Simple and Authentic! Must try this true hidden gem. I have been looking for vegan Moroccan place and everywhere I went was a tourist trap with bland and boring options. Luckily I stumbled upon this little place hidden over a shop. The prices are also very reasonable. The portion sizes are also quite big and substantial. Must try the Hareera Soup and Zalouk (aubergine dip). You will be surprised by the burst of flavours. Simple, fresh and authentic flavours. I loved this place so much that I came twice for lunch and dinner. This place will fill you with joy. The waiters are so welcoming, friendly and polite. The rooftop has better sunset view than many places in the main square. Highly recommend this place!

Surprisingly good. This place is quite hard to find at the top of a steep narrow flight of stairs. Its appearance didn't inspire much confidence initially but the food was delicious. Typical Moroccan fare but well prepared and reasonably priced.

Saw the reviews and decided to come and try tagine… it was SO GOOD. The most tender meat I’ve had and the prunes added that little bit of sweetness! Hard to find as the stairs are tiny and the sign is easy to miss, but worth a visit for sure. Came in around 9pm and we were the first there, got very busy and full afterwards. The one thing that would have made it better was if the server came by again to ask how it was going. We had a hard time asking for water since it just got busy. But again, still really enjoyed the terrace and tagine!

The view is okay.. But the food is on another level honestly, one of the best marrocain dish that I ever have. The place is kinda hard to find it's between two stores so you have to pay attention to find it. I would totally recommand the food is amazing

We came mid-afternoon for a late lunch and waited an hour for a vegetarian pastilla and vegetable briouates. Two other tables got their food before us. When our food finally came, the briouates were filled with meat instead of vegetarian. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he told me I was « searching for problems where there aren’t any ». Turns out when he checked he confirmed it was meat. As we are both vegetarian, we couldn’t eat the briouates they had prepared. We are leaving 2 stars because the chef was kind and the food was ok.

Hard to find....but WORTH IT!! Look for a sandwich board and small red stairs. THIS PLACE was amazing!! Quiet, respectful, friendly and amazing service and food quality! Don't waste your time with the food vendors in the square. Come here!!

  • 5/5 Hangry M. 4 years ago on Google
This place has a great rooftop view and terrace overlooking the hustle and bustle. The food was all delicious! Hangry highly recommends eating here. The chicken briwates was sensational. Probably the best think I ate in my time in Marrakech. Unfortunately I was sooo Hangry when it came that I nearly demolished the entire thing before before remembering to take a picture. The preserved lemon totally makes the chicken tagine dish. It adds extra saltiness to the dish. This place is really, really cheap to eat at.

  • 5/5 lilli w. 2 years ago on Google
Such a cute place. Rooftop was a little empty when we got there but it ended up being so peaceful, we got to overlook a little square and the two closest mosques. Food was the highlight though: everything was simple but the seasoning/spices brought everything up to the next level. Zazouk was a must try, plus the moroccan salad. Worth a dinner while in the medina of marrakesh
