Its a luxurious hidden oasis in the middle of the old city, the architecture is amazing the little details make it so special and the staff OMG so friendly and helpful they make you feel so welcome I love every corner of it but my favorite is the flying carpet majestic roof top with the city view. The room make me feel like I was in a movie set, the bathtub is like a small pool definitely if you're looking for a historical and authentic experience this is the place to stay.

Let me start with the cons: every stay has an end and I had to leave for the next place. Pros: where should I begin. This is where my 1001 nights dream came true, and this is where all my travel fatigue melts away. A truly magical place that I wish I can come back again. What makes this place so magical are the people. As a SPG now Marriott lifetime gold member, I travel almost 100 days every year, and I am lucky enough to have stayed many beautiful and exceptional resorts around the world. AnaYela has exceeded my expectations in every single way. The staff went above and beyond to make our travel experience unforgettable! Big thanks to Hicham, Mohammed and the rest of the team for elevating the experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and romantic, showcasing the art and craftsmanship in every corner of the Riad. We also enjoyed the tea, snacks, wine, breakfast and dinner. Do yourself a favor, stay in this gem when you are in Marrakech. This place worth a tour by itself.

I have just spent 10 days with family in AnaYela and I cannot recommend it enough. With my husband we've done more than 300 nights over the last 4 years in hotels around the world and we never had such warm, personal, helpful and friendly service like at AnaYela. The staff are absolutely amazing and made us feel like we are their family, the riad is stunning with a beautiful history (check it out if you haven't yet!) which makes it even more special and magical. The rooftop terrace is also beautiful with a view over the médina and gorgeous sunsets. The rooms are great, too, and are only 5, which contributes to the warm, intimate feeling staying there. Furthermore, the food is absolutely delicious, that we ate dinner there every night. This really is a paradise in the medina of Marrakech and if you'd like to have an authentic, unforgettable experience, go to AnaYela.

AnaYela was absolutely amazing and a true highlight of our trip to Morocco - if you’re going to Marrakech, this is the place to stay! We felt at home as soon as we stepped foot inside this beautiful, peaceful Riad, as we were greeted with mint tea and fresh dates. Not only is the property pristine and magical, but the staff was incredibly kind and hospitable, ensuring that we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Marrakech. We loved the walking tour that AnaYela organized - and the breakfasts by the pool were lovely. Be sure to checkout the rooftop at sunset for amazing views! All around amazing experience we will forever remember - thank you so much Ali and the whole AnaYela team!

We stayed here for four nights and it was one of the most memorable stays we’ve ever had. The riad was stunning inside and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the duration of our stay. We also had dinner here on two of the evenings and the food was probably the best we had during our entire stay in Marrakech. If you see availability for this road you should book it immediately without a second thought!

My wife and I booked AnaYela via Marriott Bonvoy for our vacation in Marrakesh. The stay at AnaYela was up to today, the best we have experienced in our lives - in fact it is no wonder this place has a 4.9 star rating at the time I was writing this. Before I detail our amazing experience it is important to note that my wife and I were looking to get a very traditional experience away from crowds. We specifically searched for stays within the Medina of Marrakesh (a city center where locals live and merchants sell goods) at a Riad (a building with an open air courtyard at the center that is over a century old). We also traveled in January which is not a peak month for travel in Morocco. Before arriving to Morocco, the owner of the hotel, Andrea, reached out to us via email to coordinate transportation from the train station to AnaYela via a private cab, mentioning it would be quite difficult to locate the Riad in the Medina. When we arrived, our driver was waiting with a sign with our names on it and drove us to our destination in no more than 20 minutes. Overall a very seamless experience to the Riad. When we arrived, one of our spectacular hosts, Ishan, greeted us and walked us through the Medina with our bags loaded onto a carriage drawn by a mule named Neel! After we arrived at the hotel, we were served Moroccan mint tea alongside homemade Moroccan pastries while the staff handled our check in. After our tasty snack, we were given a tour and history of the Riad before being shown to our room. From the pictures, you can see our room was decorated with flower petals and was equipped with all the necessities such as soaps and shampoo, an extremely comfortable bed with outlets on the walls beside it, and an AC unit which was very clutch for my wife and I since we are cold sleepers. On our first night we were tired from our travels and decided to have a private dinner at the hotel recommended by the hotel owner, Andrea. That was a really good decision. The food ended up being so superb that we came back for dinner 3 more times during our 4 night stay. I will not spoil the menu because the surprise is part of the experience, but I can assure you, you will not regret your decision to eat in if you are a foodie like me and my wife. After dinner, Ishan worked with us to book a private day tour with plenty of opportunities to support local Berbers in Marrakesh for our last day. I will spare the details as that belongs in its own review, but we had an amazing time on the tour. I would highly recommend reaching out to the staff to do something similar if you’re all about supporting locals and getting an intimate / in depth experience. On our last day, we took a private ride to the airport which was ~ 20-30 minutes away by car during rush hour. While waiting for our ride, I couldn’t help but feel sad that our stay was over. As I mentioned above the stay at AnaYela was probably the best experience we have ever had at a stay/hotel and it couldn’t have been possible without the amazing care we were given throughout our time in Marrakesh.

We spent three nights here, and I can’t state enough how magical the place is! It was our bastion of calm in the crazy bustling medina of Marrakech. Anyayela delivered an experience unique to our time in Morocco, and it set the bar exceedingly high. The staff delivered an unparalleled example of guest service. A special shout-out goes to Mohammed for the recommendations and guidance to help us navigate the city. But really all of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The riad itself, meanwhile, is a work of art; an incredible restoration with intimate quarters curated with hand-made artisanal furnishings and decor. We enjoyed breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the beautiful adjacent gardens - basking in the serenity that this special place offered. Our only complaint was that we didn’t get to stay longer!

Unfortunately it was fully booked 1 month+ ahead but we had a chance to visit it as museum, check rooms, relax areas, views and try berber whiskey. Hotel looks very clean, comfortable and well designed and at same time very authentic and cozy with only few rooms, small pool inside. Mint tea was also great. If you can find free room it is must book. Price is not so cheap, but at same time it will give you great value for such experience. And if you got lots of luggage don't forget to order donkey taxi!

Unforgettable stay here last week, amazing staff, I've never experienced such faultless service. Thanks to the entire team at Ana Yela, we had the best time and can't wait to visit Marrakech and your Riad again very soon. So grateful 🙏

Located in the Medina section (where you want to stay). Rooms, staff, common areas and food are amazing. They only have 5 rooms so you will not be around lots of people. Rooftop provides several areas to relax. The hotel is a riad, no outwardly facing windows, roof open to sky, inner courtyard fountain. All rooms look out onto the courtyard. Highly recommended for an exclusive, enjoyable stay.

While weren’t lucky enough to be able to stay here, after all the reviews I booked an incredible dinner under the stars. The food was fabulous and they accommodated a celiac allergy with ease. The location was to die for. Be sure to call them on the way as it’s tucked away and a member of the riad will meet your taxi to escort you in. But the best part was the people. They went above and beyond given we were only dinner guests, helping us with a guide and so many ideas. Hicham was hospitality in human form and may have been the best part of our trip!

Anayela was just a dream. The staff, Mehdi Hicham and the whole team were all sweet like family. The rooms are beautiful and just a quiet hideaway to come back to every night from the city.

WOW! The pictures of AnaYela prepare you for your stay, and also don't do it justice. AnaYela has an unassuming entrance, steeped with hundreds of years of history, and once you walk in, you're speechless. The open air courtyard with a pool in the middle is stunning. The rooms are gorgeous. And the very clear highlight of our stay was the staff. There's not enough that can be said about how well they made sure we were cared for on the property and even when we left for excursions. Upon our arrival, they upgraded us to the romance suite, complete with rose petals on the bed and bathtub. They kept in contact regarding any needs we had while we were out, and Hicham even went out and got us some emergency medicine from a pharmacy during one night of our stay. Hicham, Ali, Abdul, and the rest of the staff were so, so amazing. We booked a dinner in the Flying Carpet on the rooftop of the hotel, decorated and overlooking the medina. Very much giving Aladdin vibes. The food on property was incredible and almost kept us from leaving to find anything else (lol). Not sure if you've experience a place that made you emotional when you had to leave... but AnaYela has become one of those places for me. We can't wait to come back and tell all of our friends.

Our stay at the Anayela Riad in Morocco was an absolute dream come true. This 200-year-old palace, impeccably maintained to preserve the essence and charm of Moroccan culture, left us in awe while offering unparalleled comfort and fantastic amenities. It was a truly magical experience that we will cherish forever. One of the standout aspects of our stay was the exceptional staff. They were not only professional but also incredibly warm and accommodating. No matter what we needed, they were always ready to assist with a genuine smile. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made us feel truly welcome, as if we were guests in their own home. The inclusion of breakfast was a delightful surprise. Each morning, we were treated to a sumptuous spread of local delicacies that awakened our taste buds and allowed us to savor the rich flavors of Moroccan cuisine. Anayela Riad is undoubtedly a hidden gem in the heart of Morocco. It offers an authentic Moroccan experience that is unlike any other. The combination of the historic ambiance, attentive staff, and luxurious amenities made our stay truly unforgettable. We would wholeheartedly recommend this riad to anyone looking to immerse themselves in the beauty and culture of Morocco. Our stay at Anayela Riad was a genuine highlight of our trip, and we can't wait to return someday.

The most boutique and intimate stay we’ve had on holiday. The team at AnaYela are incredibly accommodating, kind and generous. They even setup this beautiful breakfast at 6:30am for us before our early train departure. Thank you for the memorable experience! AnaYela made our entire Morocco trip.

I have been a Bonvoy Ambassador for a few years and stayed in many Marriotts throughout the world - this is by far the best experience I received so far. If you want an ultra luxury manicured hotel with a grand entrance, this is not for you. This is an off-the-beaten-path, home-away-from-home destination that is full of pleasant surprises from start to finish. Thank you Medhi, Hicham, Abdelali and the entire team!

If this hotel is not 5 stars rated or costed us €220/night, I won’t be writing this review. This is not a good value for money choice and definitely not what we expected for a 5 stars hotel at this price range (when you can get a similar quality riads with maybe better location on Airbnb for half the cost!) or comparable to other Marriott hotels we’ve stayed before. The location is far from the central Medina or the market, it is very hidden in a residential place where cars cannot get through given how narrow the roads are. So we had to carry our luggages when we checked out to go to the closest parking lot to find our driver. The hotel didn’t offer help to transport our luggage to the parking lot nor offer us any cash back for not using their shuttle transport back to the airport (because we need to go to somewhere else first). We got an upgrade for our room given our Marriott membership status, but even that room is very small and the bedding is either a sheet (too cold for the night in October) or a very heavy duvet that could be used in the winter time… The service is ok but the food is also very mediocre compared to the breakfast that was offered by our hotel in the Agafay desert. It was day and night difference. All in all, I don’t recommend this place for the value of money and I don’t understand how the 5 stars rating was given.

Our stay was an absolute highlight in Morocco. The Riad couldn't be beat for relaxation and calm atmosphere. The food was also exceptionally good. The selection of different foods is very well chosen and represents Moroccan cuisine in the best way possible. Having breakfast on the roof terrace remains one of our highlights. A stay like in a fairy tale. All of our requests were carried out with the utmost satisfaction. The Riad is so clean and it smells exceptionally good throughout the whole riad. The warmth of the staff cannot be beat. The exceptionally quiet atmosphere in the riad and in the rooms makes your stay particularly pleasant We will be back definitely!

Highly recommend this beautiful palace! It is conveniently located in a very friendly neighborhood inside Medina, so we got to see the very authentic side of Moroccan lifestyle. The breakfast and staff are truly remarkable and made us felt at home. Remember to check out their terrace called “flying carpet.” We already miss Anayela and will definitely come back!

OVERALL: Book this now, AnaYela was the highlight and best part of our time in Morocco. Best food in Marrakech. Outstanding staff with very personalised service. Pure authenticity and care. Mohammad, Abdul, and Mehdi in particular made our stay special. THE FACILITY: Boutique 300 year old riad with only a handful of rooms each different and unique. The owners went above and beyond restoring each tile and detail to the highest standard. Beautiful architecture that oozes authenticity. Everything was done by hand by local craftsmen and it shows. This is an architectural gem equal to any UNESCO heritage site and there's no amount of money you could spend for a more authentic experience. It's rare to find such good owners paired with such a unique property. THE FOOD: Our biggest surprise was the food. We had no idea we'd booked the best restaurant in Marrakech but we never found anywhere else close. Fatima works magic. They have a set 4 course menu each night. Every meal is fantastic. Plan on eating there. THE STAFF: The best part for us were the staff. Believe it or not the staff are even better than the food and the facility. Mehdi put together an amazing team and because there are so few rooms it's almost a 1:1 ratio of guests to staff. This allows them a level personalised service more expensive hotels can't compete with. Mohammad and Abdul were especially helpful with excellent service, excellent advice, and helping take care of our baby. THE LOCATION: The Riad is 15 minutes walk outside the tourist district in a quieter more authentic part of town. Don't get scared on the drive in, it's very safe. Pleasant easy walk to all the attractions. MARRIOTT BONVOY: We discovered this property via Marriott. To say this is the best Marriott Hotel I've been to does not do it justice. It's been around for hundreds of years before Marriott and will probably outlast it for hundreds more. Kudos to whoever on the Marriott team recruited such an amazing and unique property into the brand.

Anayela is a 300 year old Riad. One can feel it's history immediately upon entry. All the decorations are intricately hand-made and magnificent. Everything is almost an art piece in this Riad. If you want to get a sense of how an expensive household lived in the 1800 in Marrekech, you definitely want to check into this place. Also, this place is perfect for a romantic get-away for a couple. I have never seen a bathtub this big. It was literally a pool in your room. Yes, it will take an hour to fill up the tub halfway but I tried it twice and the water was always hot enough (so it's not a scam). The staff is professional and extremely helpful. Robe with comfortable matierals are provided and leather slippers, which are great touches. There are some minor issues with the space, such as the bed being too close to the wall and nooks and crannies for no reasons but everything else was great. There is also a medium size pool in the middle of the property which no one dare to use because first it's very cold and second it's in the middle of all the guests' attention. There are only 5 rooms and they seem popular. There were guests everyday we were there for the 2 days I stayed there. Breakfast was included for me (maybe because of my Titanium status with Marriott), and they didn't charge me for dinner either. Dinner came with a free glass of wine, which was why I am givin this place 5 stars. If they had not given me the wine probably 4 stars lol. Be careful of the glass cup in the restroom. It will slip out of its metal cover and shatter. Mine did.

We stayed with our Anayela family in June of 2022. It was probably my favorite travel experience yet. We are relatively well traveled. If there weren't so many places yet to experience I would come back here every year. From the moment we entered this beautiful property we were treated like honored family. The meals ( we ate breakfast each day and had two dinners) were outstanding. It can be trick to find. Arrange pick up with them in advance. They assisted us with our balloon tour we had booked through viator, they arranged a fabulous guide for an afternoon walking tour. This place was the highlight of our 3 week adventure. It was the relaxing respite in the midst of a whirwind. We wirlwhirlwind. Thank you AnaYela family!

Everything was perfect! The riad is a hidden gem located a 20min walk from the main square. The staff is very professional , gave us a warm welcome that made us feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast in the morning is delicious and abundant, and you can also enjoy a Cup of moroccan tea in the living room or terrace . Last but most important, Riad Anayela Is the perfect Place to celebrate special occasions thanks to the help of the staff that goes the extra mile to make anything possibile:)

Yes, the rooms are a bit small but don't let that take away from the experience. The staff is fantastic as well as the food. It's a true experience in the Medina

This is the place to stay In Marrakech. AnaYela has only five suites, which makes for an intimate, extraordinary experience. The space is incredibly intentional and every detail is stunning. The space aside, what truly sets this hotel apart is the incredible service. Mohammed and Hichram went above and beyond to make our stay incredible. Another plus is the amazing food - all meals are perfectly prepared and presented. I can’t say enough good things about AnaYela. 5+ stars!

AnaYela Riad AnaYela is one of the best small hotels or guesthouses I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing after thirty years of international travel. The staff are just lovely, from their attitudes to their smiles and warmth, uniformly from the in house staff of Mehdi (GM) and Imnish (the front desk and host), to Mustafa (the driver for the house SUV). The food is excellent, fresh and flavorful. Then we turn to their biggest asset and strength, which is the quality and care invested in converting an old Riad into a guesthouse, which apparently took 100 artisans a year to renovate. The rooms are gorgeous, and the central courtyard and rooftop spaces are stunning and yet completely welcoming and comfortable. I recommend highly AnaYela for any visit to Marrakech.

  • 5/5 Thierry H. 5 years ago on Google
AnaYela is everything it says it is and more. It truly is romantic, seductive, sensual. beautiful and magical. The Flying Carpet at the top of the riad is incredible and where my wife and I sipped mint tea after arriving. We had dinner at the riad our first night and everything was prepared fresh from the afternoon market. The staff - Medhi the manager, and Abdi Salam, Abdo and Iram could not have been more helpful, attentive, gracious and pleasant - they each made us feel as if we were the only guests and the most important. The staff is what makes Ana Yela above and beyond all other riads in Marrakech. It is on the north side of the Medina but the staff gives you a cell phone - and you will use it at some point as the Medina can be overwhelming and you will get lost. But it is easy and quick to get from AnaYela to any other part of the Medina or outside of it to see Jardin Majorelle/YSL museum or anything else. AnaYela is a treasure.

A true hidden gem in the heart of old Medina. Literally hidden, nested within tiny back alleys, even the entrance to the riad is anonymous. Once inside, it’s pure serenity. There is an unmatched coolness to this haven. The entire property is masterfully crafted and immaculately maintained. The staff are essentially family at first sight, they really do go above and beyond, genuinely. To experience this gorgeous property built over 300 years ago, is a unique experience. No fancy flatscreen TVs, no bedside telephone with preset buttons, just calm and peace. WiFi could be a bit choppy due to the exquisite thick walls of the riad, but take advantage and disconnect. Rooms are humble in size, and wonderful if you’re looking to absorb the vibe. Bathrooms are clean, intricate and always oozing of divine scents. The entire riad operates as a family, and you become one with this place. The rooftop is breathtaking, do try to catch a sunrise and sunset here. Hats off to the curator, Andrea and her team for allowing the world to experience this unique curation, teleporting you to a moment, long lost in the Moroccan sands of time.

A staple in many travel lists and publications, including Conde Nast Travelers Hot List, Riad AnaYela is one of the best accommodations among hotels in Marrakesh. It’s a hidden little gem, with only five rooms, however the experience of staying at Riad AnaYela is that of some of the largest, most renown hotels in the world. Situated beyond a group of local markets, the Riad is not out in the open and is in one of the least touristy areas of Marrakech. The authentic, sanctuary-like riad is quiet, refined, decorated with natural, earthy colors. Because of its small size, Riad AnaYela is very intimate, and the riad’s history, revolving around a young girl’s (Yela) love story, is deeply engrained in the details of the décor. A flying carpet adorns the tower, and represents Yela and her lover’s journeys across the rooftops. The monolithic doors to each of the rooms have the history of AnaYela imprinted into them in Arabic. I spent a night in the Chapter 5 suite, which was spacious yet cozy. Decorated in soft whites, creams, and natural tans, the whole room offered a soothing vibe. The room offered a view of the patio, where I could take in the natural light. A fireplace offers warmth, and the low, double king size bed was perfect for sprawling out on. My suite features a brick-built bath, large enough for two people. The panoramic view from the terrace is spectacular! I enjoyed a delicious gourmet breakfast from the in-house chef by the indoor pool. I was only there one night, however anything I need was provided. The personnel were more than happy to offer recommendations on leisure, activities, dining, and graciously ensured my stay was everything I could have wanted. If you’re looking for something a little different while staying in Marrakech, opt for AnaYela. Immerse yourself in a true work of art, as over 100 Moroccan craftsmen took months to renovate the riad without the use of electric tools. Become inspired by an ancient love story as you explore the medina and relax in the luxury and style of AnaYela’s comfortable rooms.
