Lovely dining experience. Went for lunch and was seated with a beautiful view of the harbour. Service was efficient and friendly, we did notice that they were over staffed and at various times had nothing to do. The food was amazing the beef cheek was so tender and tasty. The duck fat potatoes were amazing.

Lovely time in Cafe Sydney. Right from walking in- service was exceptional Try to get a table at the terrace with magnificent views of harbour, Opera house and the bridge. The menu is fresh, offers a great variety with matching wines. In particular I was impressed with the service given- especially our wait staff Hugh. The place is fully booked and naturally staff are running at 100% 24/7 and yet service delivered with a smile. Honesty I can't fault this place nor its people. Highly recommend this restaurant!

The views from this restaurant are amazing. The venue looks out on to the harbour with a view of the Harbour Bridge. The food is exquisite and beautifully presented. As this place is very popular with tourists, reservations are encouraged and the place gets packed unless you go early. The restaurant is located on the fifth floor of the Customs House just across from Circular Quay.

A very beautiful restaurant to come with your partner on a special occasion. The atmosphere and interior design inside and outside is on point with a beautiful view (ask to be seated near the window), tables are not crammed which were set perfectly. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive and professional yet was able to have a few laughs with us. Loved it 👍🏼

I went here to celebrate my birthday with my partner. The view was great, the food tasted really really nice. The only reason why I gave this cafe a 4-star is the long wait to be served. Even water took quite some time. I felt like we were ignored. Once acknowledged, the service was good. The dessert we ordered came with the birthday candles, this was a nice touch. We'll try again and come back next time.

Amazing experience for a special occasion. Amazing view of the bridge and the circular quay! They upgraded our reservation to a front view table on a Monday night maybe because I put a note saying it’s a birthday. Food was delicious and flawless and served to perfection. Price is a little the upper scale but still reasonable. Service was attentive and above average.

A lovely venue with fabulous harbour views. Food and service on the day were great-with the later lunch sitting we were not rushed to finish within the 2 hr slot. There is a separate vegan/vegetarian menu-just ask. Gift card the venue was unable to process on the day has since been resolved. Advice to others is to confirm the gift card prior against the actual booking to ensure no issues on the day with having to pay and wait for refund (rather than making a general query prior to booking).

Cafe Sydney is the complete and perfect dining experience. Uncompromised views of circular quay and Sydney harbour, it makes for an impressive vantage point above the old Custom’s House. Service is friendly, polite and ensures your glass is always topped up. There’s a great variety of contemporary Australian dishes and fresh seafood which are all fairly priced considering the quality, portion size and overall magical dining experience that everyone will cherish.

A fine dining experience with amazing views. Delicious food prepared to perfection backed up by friendly and professional wait staff. Price are at a premium but then you are paying for a premium location with near prefect views of Sydney Harbour. Highly recommended for a romantic evening with that special person, a special celebration or a place to host a business event.

Visited twice this year, both for birthday celebrations, once for dinner and once for lunch. The food was superb, presentation was beautiful and the service was lovely. We were able to get great tables both times as well, for fantastic meals with fantastic views.

The food was tasty, not exquisite. I liked the squid just wish there was more on the plate! The views are amazing which is probably what you are paying high dollar for $ We ordered some interesting alcohol which even the waiters were unsure of when we asked what they would taste like!

The venue was booked by my friend who stayed in Sydney and the location is incredible. Located on the top floor of The Custom House, the view is stunning with the backdrop of the famous Sydney bridge. I let my friend do the orders for wine and food, and everything was excellent. I will recommend this place to anyone to experience the evening view of Sydney.

Had a wonderful late lunch here, can not speak highly enough of the venue, the food and the fantastic wait staff, especially Nicole who looked after us so beautifully. She then passed us on the Hugh who was also fantastic. They are a credit to great training and an obvious love of the establishment. Thank you Cafe Sydney for making a special day perfect!

I have been here twice and it is always fantastic. Great food, attentive wait staff. They have big plates, so don't worry about portion size. I wanted a nap after this meal.

This was my first time here and I’m absolutely impressed. The hostess were amazing and were awesome enough to get me a table near an outlet :). Our waitress Paula was absolutely amazing. She immediately came over and assisted us. No long wait times on food. And it was delicious. Pipo the manager is definitely doing a great job with the staff. Way to go Cafe Sydney

Great food, view and service. The staff are knowledgeable and provide good suggestions for food and drink. The only downside is not many veg options in case you have friends or family that are vegetarians/ have allergies. I would highly recommend booking early and requesting the balcony

The view at Cafe Sydney is unbeatable! They would get 10 stars just for the view alone! The restaurant itself is quite good. We had the seafood platter entree, and the selection was fresh and extensive. The wait for the mains was quite long, but the restaurant was really busy. Lots of time to enjoy the view. Our mains were nice, I had the duck which could have used a little more cooking, but was still nice. Worth going just for the view.

Had my mum’s 83rd birthday lunch with 20 people outside on a hot Saturday afternoon 8th Jan. For a large group I was pleasantly surprised to find a menu with 4 choices each for entree, main and dessert. The food was delicious, the service was excellent! They brought fans for each guest to use & promptly refilled our water to keep us hydrated. The whole experience was great from start to finish. Shoutout to Nicole who was our main server. She was friendly, attentive & a joy to chat with throughout the event. Well done!

Stunning view, loved sitting so close to the view. Attentive and polite staff. Good selection, love fresh Australian produce and seafood. Definitely taste the quality just not anything new or outstanding. Good cocktails. Dessert was ok, again didn't wow except for presentation. I'd go back for the fresh seafood.

Stunning view, the harbour scene was remarkable. Fantastic place to spend with loved ones, we definitely felt welcomed with excellent customer service. The cocktails were to die for and a wide range of reds to choose from. We really enjoyed the appetisers and the Sydney Rock oysters. The John Dory was the best choice of out all the main that we had. The Roasted Duck Breast was delish but not too extraordinary. Same with the steak and the salmon. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

Had a lovely dining experience here from start to finish. Staff greeted us with smiles and seated us quite quickly, at a table right near the window which overlooks the harbour. Our waitress asked if we had any dietary requirements and was quite happy to answer questions we had about any of the items on the menu. Sunday lunch service was very busy but staff were attentive the entire time and food/drinks all reached our table in a very timely manner. Each dish we ordered, was fresh and delicious, meat and octopus was so tender. Pannacotta was one of the best textures I've ever had, it was perfection. I don't often do fine dining but this is one place I would definitely go back to for a special occasion.

Had lunch with 2 others, and wasn’t planning to come to Sydney cafe. Coming in at 12:45pm we didn’t know if there was going to a table but there was. The view is stunning looking out at the harbour, and the food was paired amazingly. Our waiter was amazing checking up on us all the time, and making sure we were having an enjoyable time. I myself had the beef tenderloin at medium rare, and it was tender very tender. The tenderloin was one of the best I ever had and my friends regarded their dishes (Lamb Cutlet and John Dory) highly as well. The dessert however was the star, with the salted caramel hazelnut being delicious. 5/5

Food was great, views are fantastic. Unfortunately the ambience wasn't as good as it should be due to some construction going on, on a neighbouring building (not the restaurants fault). Our semilia was great and very knowledgeable (American gentleman). Our waitress however was blunt and not very enthusiastic, we had to ask for my partners meal to be checked on as there was a bit of time before it came out, while my meal was already being eaten. Seafood platter was amazing, highly recommend.

Very good experience. We had a table on the terrace, they have heaters so even in colder weather it’s perfectly fine, and you have a lovely view of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Our waiter was Francesco, who was very helpful, and knew the dishes. We took some of his recommendations ok board, and he was absolutely right. The food quality was excellent, the portions were very generous, and very well composed flavours. Our favourite were the beef tartare, and the john dory. We had a few oysters, a starter, and a main with some side salad and potatoes, but unfortunately we didn’t have space for dessert. Overall it was a perfect dinner, and I can’t stress out enough how good Francesco’s service was.

It's that 10 on 10 kind of a place ... the food was delicious the service was amazing and you absolutely cannot have a better view in Sydney.. we went there on a Monday evening and the place was jam packed with people which tells you about its popularity amongst its patrons.. They have a vegan menu which looked beautiful and we decided to mix and match with the vegan and regular menu.i had the braised leeks with romesco sauce and. Dukka which was a very beautiful smooth flavour and the tandoori salmon was exquisite.. my partner had the bug from their specials and the miso pork loin and he seemed like a pretty happy man at the end of it all. Over all its a perfect spot for a date night in Sydney

Parking is hard to find. Easier to use the light rail or ferry. The location is beautiful and easy to find. Booking is also easy. We were seated quickly and served by about 7 different people throughout the experience. The menu is quite large and has lots of options. The view is great and mostly unobstructed. The prices are also reasonable. Would highly recommend booking to come here.

Great place to have lunch with Sydney Harbour bridge views. Food was pricey but decent. Was asked if I wanted garlic bread as an entree without being told it wasn't complimentary hence the 4 star service review. Overall a decent place to dine if you don't mind paying top dollar for the location and vibe.

We had a fabulous view over Circular Quay, the Harbour and all the boats and ships coming and going. It is possible to sit inside for dinner and still have a good view. Our meal was delicious and we were served by Lea who made fabulous wine pairing suggestions for our meal, was friendly, professional and efficient. She was also a great photographer and took some trouble to ensure that we got some very good photos of our memorable evening.

For all round excellence look no further - the food is delicious, the wine selection is brilliant, the staff are friendly and helpful (particularly in relation to wine selections!), and the view is world class. Every time we have visitors from over seas we take them to Cafe Sydney. It has never let us or our guests down. It is without doubt our most frequented restaurant in Sydney. Make sure you book well in advance so you can reserve a seat outside on the terrace!

Can't fault this place. Outstanding food and service. The owners always go out of their way to make the customers experience better. Only place I choose to go everyday for breakfast, lunch or any coffee needs in the area.

Never once disappointed me. Service is super professional, they’re not pushing you to order wine. If you say no, they’re not gonna make you feel bad or cheap. They make it fast but friendly and professional. Came here twice (and will keep coming back) for my birthday, once they find out you’re in for some special occasions, you’d receive some cute chocolate writing on your dessert plates and its just so sweet and the waiters always pay attention to details! I love this place. Just very sad cause months ago I booked an anniversary dinner a month ahead but when it gets close to the date, I received calls from the team saying it would be canceled because they’d close the place for private events, which is fine, went to other restaurant but never the same!!

One of my favourite places to be. Serving amazing coffee, I can speak only for their ice coffee. Which is straight up great

  • 1/5 Brittany D. 3 years ago on Google
WORST service I have ever received. Had severe food poisoning from this restaurant and was told I needed to send them 'stool samples' to prove it was in fact them, instead of a sincere apology. Ended up in hospital and sick for 4 days directly from their pork belly. No COVID safe practices either. If you want a night at hospital and poor service, this is your go to!

I haven’t been here for years but it was Covid safe so perfect for a small socially distanced work dinner. The views remain unchanged, best in Sydney and absolutely spectacular! It was the menu I was most impressed with in terms of range and quality of ingredients. The table enjoyed the steak special, flathead and the signature tandoori trout.

As always, the Cafe Sydney dining experience was once again exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to ensure the special occasion we were celebrating was memorable. The food and beverage was amazing and in particular the Lamb rump and salted caramel martini. Thank you to the staff who made it an experience that will be remembered for a very long time. Look forward to our next experience.

We had the oysters and duck parfaits for entree followed by Baramundi and Swordfish for main. I must say the creamed potato that comes with the main dish was divine 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 We left with a happy tummy.

Took my wife out for dinner recently to Cafe Sydney and overall it was a very nice experience. I booked many weeks ahead and I believe they allocate the tables with view on a first-book/first-served basis. We were lucky and got a really nice table inside but right at the glass window front with brilliant views over the harbour and the bridge. The atmosphere was really good and I was amazed that the place was actually really full/at capacity on a Thursday night. Service was excellent all throughout as you would expect it for place like this. The food was super fresh and of top quality, can't fault it. Whatever we ordered came out actually fairly quickly, just the right timing I would say. We had an entry, main and desert each, with one drink each and paid about 260$. Special occasion I guess and the location is clearly what you pay for. The only reason I rate this place as a 4 star is because the drinks are really on the small side while very pricey. Same for the food. Not sure why entrees are almost as expensive as the mains, yet even tinier... Yeah its a very nice place but I am not 100% convinced that the portion sizes are justified for the price. Certainly worth visiting once but definitely not a place I would go to frequently. Nevertheless, well done Cafe Sydney team for providing us with a nice evening.

Reserved a table on the balcony. There was poor weather conditions and it was raining that it started to go on me. The staff members made sure they gave me a blanket replaced my plate and cutlery and throughout the night asked if I wanted to change seats. Had such great service here. I ordered the lavender mocktail and it did not disappoint at all

Staff are lovely but I agree with a lot of the reviews that the price doesn't match the quality of the food. You are paying for the breathtaking views and the experience. This was a 2nd time we had celebrated a special occasion dinner at Cafe Sydney and we definitely won't be back. It was much better years ago. Too overpriced for what you are served. There are much better options elsewhere such as Quay.

This is a lively place with a great vibe. The food was good. Typical Mexican grub and great drinks. Can’t go wrong here if you want a little down time and no frills dinner experience.

Location is great, the food is what you expect for the price but the front door Customer service was terrible. I was told I had to order a main meal and there would be 10% surcharge before even greeting us. Absolutely horrible start to my experience.

Amazing food, Amazing views priced reasonably (in my opinion) for the overall experience.

Always reliable and attentive service, with great atmosphere and views. I prefer a long lunch, over dinner here. But the food is reliably great - and the drinks list is long! A Sydney staple

Food, staff, the view - all outstanding! Would 100% recommend and will be back. We shared appetisers and had our own mains. Great way try lots of great food

The food was tasty, they aren't halal certified but if you mentioned you want halal they'll make your food based on halal certified meat and they will double triple check any chance of non halal contamination. They have also said sorry for offering me alcohol at first when they weren't aware of my dietary restriction. Overall service, COVID safety checking, food quality were perfect.

Beautiful food. Seafood was excellent. Good range of drinks to choose from. Amazing view. One of the staff who served me did drop a full glass of beer down my shirt back. Easy mistake though.

You are paying for the view, which is awesome. But food & serve really disappointing for ‘fine’ dinning, food was well below average and the staff were not rude just not very attentive. Cocktails were served in dirty glasses, mains came out before starters had been cleared. Was not asked at the end of our meal (or during) how are food was. Starters were nice but mains fish was dry and the steak was so over cooked. The desert however was great!

Really good food accompanies by nice view. I particularly liked the baby octopus and snapper. Baby octopus was very tasty. Snapper melted in my mouth. Their basque cheesecake was amazing as well. Really good cocktails too.

Had a wonderful lunch with family and friends - everything top class from the Covid -19 safe practices, the attentive and warm wait staff, to the fresh seafood, the modern, flavoursome entrees and mains and the expansive wine list, of course the view is a bonus. So consistent , always enjoyable .

Always enjoy the fresh delicious seafood at Cafe Sydney. I was slightly underwhelmed by the duck fat potatoes, they needed to be a little more crispy. The service is always fantastic.

Finally dined here on our last trip to Sydney and Oh Wow! The food was as great as the views of Circular Quay, the Sydney Bridge, and Opera House. We’ll always come here when visiting Sydney in the future. We sat outdoors but we’re kept warm with ample heaters and personal blankets. The views from outside are breathtaking. Ordered the local fish, John Dory and beef tenderloin, both excellent. The special spicy broccolini was also delicious.

Father’s Day lunch so fairly busy Sunday Lunch. Was actually pleasant outdoor seating despite a little rain, ie they are well setup for weather. Friendly and prompt service, delightful food and an amazing view, but at a price.

Great food with a stunning view ! The duck was perfectly cooked and dessert was delicious . The coconut Margarita was spot on. The service was terrible though. We had to ask for drinks, ask for our order to be taken and ask for a dessert menu. We were seated and forgotten about. When the food arrived it made up for the service so 4 stars from me, 5 if the service had have been better

Fantastic meal with 'dear friends'. Seated at a table with an amazing view (pretty much all the restaurant tables have a view of the Opera House & Harbour Bridge). Food was top level and we also had some really nice bubbles and chardonnay from the extensive wine list. Service was excellent - we were treated to a complementary oyster to sample the 'special' and offered a different table with view for dessert when our table was required for the next service. A bit pricey but felt it was still good value for a special occasion.

Excellent service. Welcoming from the get go and patient throughout. Food was tasty and well presented. Ambience was fantastic supported by the amazing view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Have visited 3 times and have never been disappointed.

My recent visit to Cafe Sydney left me with mixed feelings. While the stunning views and location were undoubtedly impressive, I was somewhat disappointed by the overall dining experience. First and foremost, the restaurant's spectacular panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour and the iconic Opera House are undeniably breathtaking. It's a picture-perfect setting that sets high expectations for the rest of the experience. The ambiance is elegant, and the sleek decor adds a touch of sophistication to the space. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm waned as I dug into the food. While the dishes were aesthetically pleasing, they fell short in terms of flavor and execution. The flavors seemed uninspired and lacked the wow factor I was hoping for. The presentation was beautiful, but the taste didn't quite match up. Additionally, the service at times felt lackluster and inattentive. Despite making a reservation well in advance, we experienced delays in being seated and an overall lack of attentiveness from the waitstaff. It's a shame, as improved service could have elevated the overall experience. On a positive note, the beverage selection at Cafe Sydney was decent. They offered a variety of wines and cocktails, and I found the drink options to be satisfying. The drinks were well-prepared and provided a pleasant accompaniment to the otherwise mediocre dining experience. In terms of value for money, Cafe Sydney leans towards the pricier side. While I understand that the stunning location comes at a premium, I expected the food and service to match the high prices. Unfortunately, the underwhelming experience left me feeling like I may have overpaid for what I received. In conclusion, Cafe Sydney offers a magnificent view and an impressive location, making it a desirable spot for special occasions or to impress visitors. However, the dining experience itself falls short in terms of flavor, service, and overall value for money. If you prioritize stunning views over exceptional food, Cafe Sydney might still be worth a visit, but be prepared for a less-than-stellar culinary experience.

Just beautiful… the view matched the food. Everything from arrival to departure was just perfect. The food was so delicious and worth the money. Not cheap but definitely perfect on the special occasion. Will definitely be back.

Stalwart of the Sydney dining scene and for good reason. The location is ideal for visitors, after seeing all the local sights. The food is good, with something for everyone, the decision is the hardest part. I feel bad for not giving five stars but the rhubarb panna cotta was quite chewy and our drinks were never topped up, which is only a problem when the staff store on a separate table

This restaurant has great ambience and a gorgeous view of the harbour bridge. The service was great and they have a good variety of food options that’s very Australian so great for tourists. It was a good pick for my uncle and Aunty who’s visiting from overseas. However I had to give this a 4 stars because my uncle’s and my dish were over salted like crazy! Also the crustacean platter was extremely underwhelming for $195. It’s literally 6 small rock oysters, some small tiger prawns, 2 Morton bay buys, 3 scampis and 2 tiny crab pieces. Would not recommend getting that.

Cafe Sydney is an amazing restaurant with delicious food and stunning views. The menu offers a range of options to choose from, all expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The location is unbeatable, overlooking the harbor and the city skyline, making for a truly memorable dining experience.

An amazing restaurant in an amazing location with breathtaking views. From the moment I walked in, the service from the staff was top notch. They all couldn’t have been more helpful, and friendly. They were very knowledgeable on all the dishes, wines, etc. The food was very nice from start to finish. I will definitely be back here again !

It was beautiful all the staff were amazing and food was fantastic I am vegetarian and very hard to get pleased by food when it comes to vegetarian. Appetisers to main course just too good. My friend and his wife are regular there and this time we whole group went and we all enjoyed every bit of it.

Lovely and nice staff all of you guys. Thank you for holding lift door and warm nice greeting on the way out, even though after the shift. I wish I could deliver my sincere gratitude to you all for making my day special. Love to have amazing food. Obviously it depends on personal taste. For me, less salty and still flavorful. I love the most that I could enjoy each menu with each signature scent. I really wish I can explain better, sorry yummy! is all my expression usually 😅. Atmosphere lovely. On the way to our table, when I saw my lover sitting and waiting for me. Held the breath. I think can’t be better than this view. Recommended!

What a wonderful experience! Our welcome and table location were outstanding. Our server Daniel was professional and friendly. All the serving staff were super pleasant. Our food was flavourful and innovative. The salted caramel Kahlua cocktail was the perfect way to finish!

Delightful experience. The curried salmon was a highlight. A bit let down by the Parfait, felt a bit bland compared to the chocolate log which offered more texture and wow factor. The glass of San Giovese fell a bit flat. The service and atmosphere were as good as I remember nearly a decade ago.

Situated in an excellent location, this restaurant offers some of the finest views of iconic landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, and Circular Quay. The staff is commendable, and the food lives up to expectations with its excellent quality and rich flavors. I rated it 4.5 stars, as while it excelled in various aspects, there was a slight gap preventing it from a perfect 5-star rating in the realm of high-quality dining. I plan to revisit, exploring more dishes to provide a comprehensive assessment. Considering the price point and the competitive landscape, the standout feature of this place is the unparalleled experience, earning a solid 5 stars, while other elements receive a 4.5-star rating.

Food is so average that I think it's overated , I mean a couple of years back it might be good however my recent visit says the opposite. None of the appetisers nor the mains hit the spot and everything just doesn't taste balanced. Steak is definitely overcooked. We came as a group of people and only one colleague likes the food-the one that is vegetarian and tried the vegan menu and he/she thinks it's good. Seafood platter isn't very fresh as the crab leg meat smells bit off. Dessert and drinks is on average level nothing too bad. Overall none of us will ever come back again. The stars are for the nice view that's all.
