A awesome spot on top of a hill to come and view the city skyline and the spectacular Harbour Bridge, it's also a great place to come for a picnic with plenty of shade from the beautiful old trees, definitely a must do in Sydney. Metered parking available.

This rating is really just for the spectacular views and lovely Moreton Bay Fig trees. I didn't do much else here except appreciate the view and have a walk around but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd like to return and explore some more.

Good view spot for the sunset casting on Sydney Harbour Bridge or staring at the blazing sun setting down Balmain. Lots of young ones, mostly Asians in their 20s hanging out here as solos, couples and friend groups. Might be tricky to find a clear spot. Personally I feel Barangaroo Reserve was a better angle to look at the bridge.

Want calmness and serenity, be there. Dont forget to get a mat and couple of drinks and may be a hat too, sometimes its a bit windy. Harbour bridge looks spectacular and may be you want to cross the bridge by walking. Overall, a place to visit much..ciao

Observatory Hill Park is another of those hidden away area in Sydney worth visiting with the family on a day doing the touristy thing. Moments walk to the Rocks or the Telescopes of the Observatory, it's a fun place to be. When the sunshine is out sit back in the park, watch life go by on the harbour, while viewing the Harbour Bridge.

Great place to go picnic with friends and family! Place get crowded around 3.30pm as people would come to see the sunset. Come prepared for the wind during winter!

Plan your evening on a full moon night you will definitely be mesmerized by the amazing view of Northern Sydney and the Harbor Bridge. It’s an amazing mini picnic destination it’s quicker to get here through Wynyard station.

A big hill with an Observatory at the top and stunning views over Sydney harbour and Sydney Bridge. There are seats around the area. There are no toilets, but there are public ones nearby at Watsons Road. The observatory is only open from 8pm on certain days, so check before you go. The hill has steep gradients. I think it would be possible to partially access if you use a wheelchair. There was nowhere to buy food, so bring a picnic.

Iconic hill overlooking the Sydney harbour bridge. Fantastic views and perfect place for a picnic. Very well maintained and the grass feels so relaxing to sit on. The whole park is so scenic and it is no wonder it is often used as a backdrop for proposals and wedding photos. A must visit!

We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful park in the middle of the city. I have travelled around the world and sometimes cities are concrete jungle which sometimes makes life monotonous. Having a place like this closer to the office, gives us an opportunity to just simply unwind and stem creative juices in our brain to unleash. The walk to the hill itself is like a few 30-40 steps, which is like a micro work out. I will strongly recommend anyone working around Observatory Hill to take a break of 15-20 mins to unwind, relax and recharge during lunch break.

Walked to this place from Chinatown and it was definitely worth it. It may seem like a long walk but quite close using shortcuts. Recommend visiting this place on a fine day to enjoy one of the best Sydney views. There are a plenty of space to have picnic but haven't seen any bbq facilities available.

One of the first Observatories in Australia. Great day out. Great for the whole family. Very interesting area of Sydney right near the fantastic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Great views of Sydney. Very close to the National Trust and the S.H. Ervin gallery. Nice place for a picnic, a walk and sight seeing. Photos taken from around the close vacinity.

Very calm, quiet place with a breathtaking view. Ample parking on the street (2P till 10pm everyday). Great picnic spot to bring along kids and pets. Very picturesque overlooking harbour bridge and luna park

One of the most popular spots for photos, especially for weddings. If you're looking for a place for picnic it's also amazing just make sure you go early. Proposing to your loved one defenitly check it here. And as I mentioned earlier wedding photos always turn amazing with the bridge as the back drop. Parking generally available but depending on day and time of course

Fantastic views of Sydney Harbour & surrounds. Most definitely one of Sydney's most beautiful parks packed full of history and feels like an oasis hidden in Sydney's CBD.

Good place to sit down / lay down with friends to have a good relaxing chat. Or to spend time alone with your music and think with your thoughts. Great view, with vast depth to really never get bored. Makes you think of the bigger picture at hand of life. It's a little bit far to walk too, but other than that. It's recommended

Unexpected stunning views to the bay from an unusual perspective. Not overcrowded, green, fresh air and sea breeze. Recommended for a walk to connect between Harbourbridge and Darling Harbour!

  • 5/5 Prasanna M. 2 years ago on Google
One of the most scenic and gorgeous places to watch the Sydney sunset alongside the majestic mirage of the skyscrapers. It still able to give it's audience the peace of the sea waves and gentle wind that take away your day to day stress. Furthermore, it paves the way to the famous Harbour Bridge walk. A must go especially during the sunset when you are in Sydney πŸŒƒβœ¨

I love this place. A great view over The Rocks and Harbour Bridge

  • 5/5 Josh C. 3 years ago on Google
I am amazed that the place is open 364 days except Christmas! And it's free entry ! Literally eye opening place for my family. My wife thought that some of the devices and tech invented 200 years ago can be so good. We bought 2 very good childrens books there about space and our solar system and they were reasonably priced. The garden around the Observatory is very well kept and most people flock there for the scenery.

"come to Sydney" they said, "see the stars" they explained . to my dismay there were very few observatory's in Sydney , I decided to visit the one with the fanciest name , to my absolute disgust this wretched place was closed and the walk up the hill closer to a mountain was exhausting , finally when I sat down at the crest of the mountain after a long expedition I decided to look up at the stars , the only stars I saw were the ones that Shon off the elitists diamonds that hung around there necks , they laughed at me , never again shall I travel from bumf uck Romania to Sydney only to be tricked and than laughed at by rich elitists who enjoy tricking people . i have included an image of me below that my good friend uzgayuzby took , he was disappointed as well :( 1/5 stars

Once in a million year view I am told. Behind that thick blanket of Fog is the beautiful Harbour bridge we have grown to wonder and love. Lucky it doesn’t happen very often. Once in few hundred years. Perhaps that’s why Captain cook sailed passed the Gap in 1770 and thought it was a small bay. How wrong he was we soon discovered in 1788.

If you want a place to be able to see the city and a lot of grass to relax, somewhat away from all the city life? That's the place... I personally felt like I was in a movie!

Simply stunning- Cannot believe how beautiful and peaceful this place is. Very easy to approach this place , we preferred by walk from the rocks. The views from this place are magnificent and breathtaking. Soak in some sun and breath in fresh air and enjoy some great views!

We cut across the hill trying to get to Crown Casino from the Circular Quay area. We cut through the bridge stairs to get to the bottom of the hill. The path up the hill led to the entrance of the observatory, which was closed when we went up. As we walked along the path, it slowly showed the beautiful view towards Darling Harbour. There were a few seats along the grass but it was a bit rainy that day so we were just gapping it towards the casino for shelter. What I did find interesting was the dog toy library located at the top for furry friends. Although we just had a quick pass through, it was a nice place for some scenic views and to rest somewhere quiet.

Pretty place to watch the scenery change while watching the sun set over Sydney icons. Bit of a steep walk up from The Rocks, no seating or toilets that I could see, but a lot of picnickers in a serene and relaxed environment.

Would you like a special, beautiful view over Sydney Harbour? Would you like to have a picnic mostly undisturbed by anyone but a few meandering tourists? Would you like to feel smug in your choice of location for a chat, a stroll, perhaps a first kiss? Observatory Hill is the place for you. It also is close to the end of the bridge walk, and to the Rocks (e.g. pubs, food). I regret telling you it is wonderful because now you will go.
