Went here for breakfast/brunch on a recommendation from one of our kids who used to come here regularly before returning to the UK. Yes, we were also asked to pick up some of his favourite coffee, but really glad we made the effort to find it. I had the pancakes (actually one large pancake) which was up there with the best I've ever tasted. Oh, and the coffee, as he'd said, was excellent.

Fabulous Sunday breakfast at Reuben Hills! The Brazilian single origin coffee was rich, smooth, and perfectly brewed French roast. The South American food on the menu was also a real treat – the flavors were bold and delicious, and the portions were generous. Fried chicken was a highlight, and hand cut chips are the right thickness and cooked just right. But what really made the experience stand out was the atmosphere of the cafe itself. It has a cozy and inviting industrial vibe, and the staff were all friendly and attentive. If you're in Surry Hills and looking for an off the beaten path breakfast with good vibe, I highly recommend giving Reuben Hills a try.

Nice location, nice staff and layout. The savoury food here is an absolute treat. Looked great, tasted fantastic and was so different compared to other cafes. The sweet breakfasts however were disappointing. I got the Cinnamon French Toast - what a let down. A lot of whipped cream to cover up how bone dry it was and the espresso chocolate ganache was neither here nor there. Not enough to save the dish at any rate. Do yourself a favour and get something savoury

A true classic cafe. Their menu hasn’t changed much over the last few years, cause the Latin American inspired menu is full of bangers. My go to is the huevos divorciados or the fried chicken basket. The salsa verde with the huevos is particularly nice. Nice that they stock Yulli’s beers here. Their coffee is great, and I’ve enjoyed brewing it at home as well :) They also serve some boss pastries from their sister brand AP bakery. Some stellar stuff - the pistachio apricot tart is so good. One day I’ll try their honey macadamia croissant….

Maybe a little bit sceney. Not the proprietor's fault. That's just life these days.

Oooft! This is a new favourite for sure. I don’t know why it took me so long to try this place out. The location and atmosphere were great but the food stole the show. We had the breakfast burger (with cheese) which was no where near as heavy as I thought it would be (in a good way). We also had a pretty unique dish (which I forget the name of). I’d 100% recommend this place and will definitely be back.

The service here is great. Dog friendly place. The honey almond cold brew is great. The pancakes were very good and the mushroom burrito hits the spot. I love this place. Update: ordered a croissant with a side of scram and it was delicious. As always, the staff was extremely friendly. I'm going to miss this place when I go back stateside.

When you planning to have breakfast in Sydney, this is the spot you should put on the list. The rustic warehouse interior creates a great vibe for you to enjoy some tasty food and awesome coffee. The Not Reuben sandwich is a great choice along with the Soft baked eggs or the tostados. Good way to bring on the day ☕️

The decor in Reuben Hills is unique, with a dark and sleek kind of vibe with a touch of industrial chic. Great lighting and it’s spaced so that it is very long rather than wide. I found the coffee I ordered, an almond cappuccino, to be a bit different from other cafes - might been the way they frothed the milk? But it had a tangy and slight bitter aftertaste which I did not personally enjoy - but others might. The food was decent and I found my shakshuka good but not up to the standard for the price that I had paid for. Highlight of the place, in my opinion, is the overall atmosphere and ambiance.

Fantastic coffee shop Quite and unassumingly brilliant. This café nails its quintessential vibe. A wonderful filter coffee offering with batch brew, pour over coffee and V60 coffee

Came early on a Sunday for Breakfast, not too busy and was able to get a good table. The atmosphere is awesome and so is the service. Big menu and the food was some of the best cafe food I’ve had in Sydney. Coffee was also really good. Highly recommend and will definitely be back as the burrito was delicious as well as the coffees. Reuben Hills is a must visit

Fabulous cafe. The coffee is exceptional and the food delicious. The venue is typical Surry Hills. Industrial chic with concrete, metal and wood finishes. There is a back entry to the rear lane as well and dogs are welcome in this section. A great place for breakfast.

This is my number one place for coffee in Sydney, variety of many coffee beans from the world available all the time. Food is very much different than in regular cafes, tasty with interesting flavours. But what makes this place so popular is great service from amazing staff working there. Their friendly attitude makes you feel welcomed every time!

The food that I ordered will be the fantastic and wonderful feeling for the people who enjoy spicy and sour, but I m the person who doesn’t like chili, three shot long black so good! I love black coffee at here.

Great coffee and often hearty food (a few Latin American dishes on the menu). Buzzy Surry Hills atmosphere. Recommend.

Reuben Hills is a great stop for an unforgettable sandwich! It was unsurprisingly packed for a Saturday morning, but the wait wasn't long. Inside is a hip, industrial atmosphere. A must try within walking distance from the CBD.

Visited over the long weekend, and I absolutely loved this place. Great coffee, nice vibe, and amazing food. Also bought a kilo of fresh beans and I love them. Will definitely visit again and I’d highly recommend if you want yummy brunch 😋

Fantastic coffee and super tasty food at Reuben Hills. I love how their menu is inspired by their trips to Central and South America. We had the chicken torta, not Reuben and chia puddding. Everything was sensational! The chicken torta was quite spicy and saucy, also very messy, but was a delight to eat! Can’t wait to return.

Anyone who has passed this place is interested, and with good reason. Reuben Hills offers a well thought out menu in a buzzing location with a perfect cross-breeze. Book ahead if you want to get in as a group, and maybe ask for a touch more honey on the gorgeous whipped ricotta toast. The staff are quick and considerate. Stay if you can, take away if you're rushing.

Not too difficult to find street parking on a Saturday morning. A short 10 minutes wait. The cappuccino was smooth and nice as others described. Heard that they roast their beans? Looks like the roast it right at the premise :) My chicken basket was no bad , on par with those Korean fried chicken 😆

If you're from Melbourne looking for a good cup of coffee this place can deliver. The only reason I don't give a five stars is while it is delicious coffee and I'm sure it's fairly priced $7 is a lot for a cup of coffee.

2020: 4 stars - it was very crowded but the staff were friendly and the wait wasn't too long. Delicious coffee as always but I wasn't at all impressed with the Honduran baleada, it was just so bland. And $8 extra for half a chorizo really gets on my nerves, but it was the only thing with any flavour so I'm glad I got it. I could make this better at home for much less. 2017: 5 stars - Good vibe, industrial-chic decor, delicious food and coffee & friendly service. Highly recommend!

The coffee here was amazing! I also had the soft baked eggs. The eggs were runny with the right amount of seasoning. Would come back again.

Love the rueben sandwich. Ricotta pancakes are a bit sweet and not puffy with too much cranberries sauce poured over them. The vibe is cool.

Cannot find fault in this resto! Food is great, customer service is amazing. One of our orders was delayed due to an honest mistake. The crew quickly fixed it and even gave complimentary coffee! They didn’t have to, but what a gesture! Anyway, worth the wait. Everything we’ve ordered is delectable with good price point 😋

Not only did I enjoy their delightful coffee and scrumptious food, but their fried chicken on pancake dish was an absolute revelation! Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this mouthwatering combination.

Great roaster and coffee place. The decor is nice, narrow with two tiny outside tables on one hand, and an open front in the morning sun in Albion Way. Coffee was delicious. I had a piccolo with their House Blend #18 and an espresso with a Guatemalan single origin, Rigalito 3. I especially liked the espresso and bought some beans.

Breakfast at @reubenhills: good food, quick and efficient service 🙂🙂. . The not Reuben - 5+ wagyu salt brisket, pickled slaw, manchego cheese & horseradish mayo on toasted rye: this was absolutely amazing! The brisket was super delicious. The pickled slaw cut through the fattiness of the brisket. Fantastic flavours! . Mushroom burrito - Mexican rice, mushroom, egg, chipotle bbq sauce, ranch dressing, cheese, flour tortilla: this was really delicious. Cheesy but not too rich.

Delicious food and great coffee! Highly recommend their brisket sandwich~ Bread was crunchy, meat was so tender and juicy!

Love the Reuben and coffee. Visited a few times. I also enjoy the Ricotta pancake with fried chicken, it’s not overwhelmingly sweet and a good contrast between flavours. Can get pretty busy but haven’t had to wait very long for a table for two.

This place has really great coffee and very satisfying sandwiches. I also love the rustic vibe of the interiors. Though, they can get very busy. I wanted to get to know more about their coffee beans, but it was a bit difficult to get the attention of their staff. Nevertheless, i still bought some.

Love this cafe, the aesthetic and their coffee! Great place to meet friends for a brunch spot or to just get takeaway! You have to try their breakfast burrito - it is absolutely amazing and you will not regret it.

its my second time here, food is good, price is okay. The most disappointing is my Water glass had a small tiny black stain on it. Hills Winter veggie bowl 9/10 - The Pickled cabbage and tomato chutney goes with the dish very well, I ordered some extra chorizo and Fried chicken for the bowl which are very good, the chicken is perfectly cook. Overall the experience is a 8.5/10. The only problem for me is the dirty glass.

Have been coming to this Cafe for years. Always a trusty place for good coffee & pastries. I was underwhelmed & disappointed with my Not Reuben - the wagyu brisket was on the thin side, a bit fatty & felt too dominated by the slaw for my liking. I did love my drink tho - the Blueberry & Rosemary Soda is AMAZING. Staff were attentive & helpful & I would still go back & give their other dishes a try despite my lack-lustre Not Reuben. It’s a great space & always welcoming.

Reuben Hills is a great inner-city cafe specialising in excellent coffee but also with a range of tasty food options in a sparse, industrial setting. Lunch was faultless - high quality service with all staff taking pride in the business. Also dog-friendly, which is an added bonus.

Not only is the coffee the best in the area, but the scrambled eggs on toast with the avo is THE best every time! Staff are always super friendly too. This place is our Saturday regular, and I couldn’t recommend more highly.

Great cafe - with great food. Menu is not your stock standard - many interesting dishes with a Sth American/Latin influence. The Not Reuben sandwich was delicious. It was busy on a Sunday late morning, but only had to wait 10 mins for a table. Great coffee as well. I'll be back...

Come here for the coffee and vibe. From sourcing coffee beans to roasting in-house and extracting the goodness into a cup, Reuben Hills are the best and in my top 3 best cafes in Sydney. Lacks value in the food and service can be a little slow so misses that perfect score.

Been here so many times, same good coffee. The food menu a little old and soft baked eggs is overcooked today. Hopefully the menu will update soon.

Had the burger and the bun was still cold from the fridge. Also, way too much sauce on the almost fluffy potato bun imho, which made the burger impossible to eat with your hands. Not impressed. Flavours overall ok, service disinterested, decor industrial chic.

The last time I had scrambled eggs this good, the chooks that laid them roamed free in my grandma's backyard. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of some menu items. Every dish sampled was nothing short of amazing. The poached pear is certainly worth driving out of your way for! Perfect coffee served by pleasant wait staff is an added bonus. Highly recommended!

Overpriced brunch, food was really average. Baked eggs seemed like they forgot to add anything other than the eggs. ‘Fresh’ orange juice came in a small jar which cost $8! Service was awful, really rude (except for the women at the door). To top it off a surcharge was added for the weekend, which is ridiculous given it’s a brunch spot and a large % of your customers would be from the weekend.

  • 1/5 Paing Phyo T. 4 years ago on Google
Hugely disappointed and would not come back again. It was better many years ago. Now is too pricey and doesn’t taste as good, especially value point. I expect to receive higher quality food and more variety in my plates for prices you charged.

We've been to Reuben Hills plenty of times and always thoroughly enjoy it for a quality cup of coffee and unique menu. Reuben Hills is a micro roastery with a street front cafe. They sell products in store as well as wholesale. It's a trendy little space with exposed bring walls, dim lighting and friendly and approachable hipster staff. During these Covid19 times, they're doing an all day menu for eat in (max 10 diners) and takeaway. Their menu is interesting and has a unique take on your favourites, with a South American twist, and the all day dining options are varied. On previous visits, we also liked the huevos divorciados and baked eggs. Today, we enjoyed the polenta porridge cooked in almond and macadamia milk, topped with rhubarb and granola. This makes it a vegan, vegetarian and dairy free meal. The polenta gives it an interesting texture and the toppings flavour it nicely. Reasonably priced at $12. Kurt loved the BROKEN OMELETTE ROLL with fried shrimp, omelette and bacon jam on a milk bun with rocket and a side of prawn crackers. The coffee is always good, whether it be a milk based, filter, espresso or cold brew. They also do tea, chai, sodas and shakes (why not try their oreo or salted caramel shake). It's probably a good time to pay them a visit whilst it's a bit quieter than usual or even grab yourself takeaway. Also selling pantry staples if you're in need of anything

i agree with others that the servings are not large enough to warrant the price. Staff were attentive but jaded and 'over it'. Will choose another brekkie spot next time..

Overpriced, average coffee. They don't offer substitute sugar for diabetics or those on special diets which is a shame. A regular coffee is a bit bigger than a piccolo size. Joke.

Dined at Reuben Hills cafe. I had one of their dishes with sourdough and chorizo, along with a Ginger & Turmeric Almond Latte. Food and coffee were delicious. About 10-15 minutes after finishing the meal and leaving the cafe I had a terrible stomachache. I immediately went to the bathroom and let it all out. The last thing I had eaten was the meal from Reuben Hills. Obviously upset about paying for a meal that made me sick, I posted on their Facebook wall informing them of what had happened and suggested that they should check their hygiene. I posted my comment, checked that it had successfully posted on the wall (it had). I happened to go back to the page a few minutes later and the post was gone! I thought that was strange so I posted it again. Checked that it had posted correctly (it had), then again, went back to check again in a few minutes. Again it was gone!!! So in response I posted another post which was a message to Reuben Hills/ their Facebook admin telling them what I thought of them. And surprise surprise, that post didn’t make it to the wall. I have been to Reuben Hills before and quite liked the food and the atmosphere. However, I’m sad to say that I will most definitely not return. Not because there was something wrong with the food (mistakes happen), but because of the way they handled it. Unbelievable.
