Two months living in the hostel, after other hostels I definitely don't want to go to another one. The location is perfect for getting everywhere, there are always fun programs to do and meet people. The staff is super friendly and helpful. much cleaner than other sites. Perfect price quality. Shops open around the clock for eating and shopping. free gym

Worst most disgusting hostel I’ve ever stayed. No air conditioning in the rooms. A god awful smell and very unclean. Couldn’t even stay there.Cockroaches in common areas. Cancelled my reservation.

The best hostel i stayed at in Sydney. If you are looking for a clean and social hostel this is the one. Location is great, easy to get around and very close to the train station for days out and getting to and from the airport. All the staff is really welcoming and happy to help you. It is easy to socialise and meet people with something happening most nights; movie nights, free dinner & nights to drink and socialise. It’s a very clean hostel and house keeping are on top of keeping dorms & shared areas clean. Will definitely be back to stay again when I’m back in Sydney.

The front desk staff was pretty nice and very helpful with any questions. Outside of that the stairwell smelled absolutely horrid, so it was the stale beer scented elevator for us. Saw a handful of cockroaches in the bathroom during our 2 night stay. They did have lockers for small items like travel documents etc. Bring your own pad lock though. The bathroom set up in the room was nice, with the shower and toilet separate. Although a bathroom outside the rooms would've be nice also. Since everyone's on different sleep schedules, I felt bad using it when roommates were sleeping. The location was pretty great, as it's walking distance from the piers to head out to the reef. Overall, I probably would try a different hostel before returning here, but wouldn't kick up too much of a fuss if I had to return.

I visited 5 Hostels in Australia and this Hostel was defently the best. It was clean, we got our own bathroom and the people were very friendly. Ther Service was always very good. I stayed there for 3 weeks and when i'm back in Sydney i will book this Hostel again. The location is also perfekt. A lot of Bars and Partys around there and just 30 min To Bondi beach. I had a very good time there and meet a lot of awsome New people! Kind regard Manu

The best hostel in which I stayed in Sydney. The stuff it is friendly and welcome to help you out in any way. It is easy to socialize and get to know people. Overall it is a really clean hostel and if I will ever come back to Sydney I wouldn’t think twice to come back here.

One of the worst experiences ever, professionality they have no idea what it is, the hostel itself wouldn't be bad, except that the day after my arrival they decide to throw away all my groceries, although I suspect someone, given the presence of several high-cost Italian products, thought well to appropriate them since among the things they leave on the table out of the fridge before throwing them away, I only found my open milk... speaking with the reception the only thing what they have been able to tell me is: (sorry) not happy the following week they decide to throw away all my shopping again, and also in this case only a sorry, thanks to their incompetence I lost 100 dollars of shopping, without considering which in the last period have tripled the prices of the stay, a night 60 dollars, I hope that no one else will experience what happened to me but if you can, avoid this hostel. In general, there is a nice environment in the hostel and it is a little bit cleaner than others, but in my opinion solutions need to be found in these situations where the error is theirs.

Small rooms with no shelves or anything to put your phone / water on by the bed. 1 toilet per floor. Unclean kitchen. Sinks full of food and pots and pans not properly cleaned. Walked in and one pot just had old eggs in them. They definitely don’t abide by the clean up or get fined policy. On Tuesdays they cook for everyone which is nice but the kitchen is ‘closed’ so you can’t cook and they don’t clean up after themselves til about 11 (when i was there) I was just quite uncomfortable there - not very clean and wasn’t the friendliest vibe. Our air conditioning also broke so the whole time I was there there was no air conditioning in a shared room and it was over 30 degrees (they then gave us a fan which was very loud) Location was really good but that’s just about it. I was working a 9-5 while staying here so maybe that’s why I’m grumpier lol

Wish I could give more stars. I was hopping from one hostel in Sydney to another and got stuck here. The manager Josh and the other staff members were so welcoming from the beginning. Everyone else is super friendly. They have great events every evening, sometimes together with other hostels, and when there are no events going on everyone is hanging out in the tv room or sitting together in the kitchen. The bathrooms are clean and a lot of them are very spacious. The kitchen is small but well equipped, even has free coffee and tea and a bunch of spices (which I thought was normal for hostels but had to realize it’s not). Location is great, close to a few night clubs and a bunch of restaurants and cafes. But the best thing is the atmosphere. Will definitely miss it <3

Couldn’t recommend this hostel enough! Has everything a backpacking hostel needs and more- staff are super friendly and any queries we had they could help with straight away. Will be returning for sure

I loved my stay at Mad Monkey, a great social hostel that hosts events most evenings which are free… would defo recommend if you’re a solo traveller! Another plus is the friendly staff members and there is always someone constantly cleaning the hostel throughout the day so it’s pretty much spotless😌😌

Brilliant location to get to where you need to go in Sydney, the staff are the most friendliest staff I’ve met in a hostel since being in Australia. Very social and it always seems to attract great people-perfect for a long term stay I was only planning on staying a couple of weeks but kept extending

My days at Mad Monkey Kings Cross we’re amazing! The location is really good basically 15min walk for the center, the staff is very friendly and chill and plus is very cheap. In my past experiences i’ve been in hostels that were very chaotic, but here all the people are basically long term, so it’s kinda a big family and it’s very mellow and relaxed. the best vibes! 💗💗

The hostel was an absolute delight! From the friendly and welcoming staff to the clean and comfortable rooms, my stay here was perfect. I arrived here expecting a place where I could stay for a couple of days and ended up finding much more. The facilities are quite good and it's clean and tidy but, the best part without any doubt is the people and staff there and the events we do all toguether. A fun way to get to know the place and lots of people in Sydney. Definitely recommended!!!

This hostel is based in a great location close to transport links in to the city and out to the beaches. Very social atmosphere and environment perfect for meeting lots of new people, as well as a wide variety of events for everyone to join in with throughout the course of the week with the people you have met!

Honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. All together I stayed here for 3 weeks with 2 weeks inbetween in other hostels due to Mad monkeys being booked up. Everyone is so social and friendly including the staff, they constantly have things to do in the evenings everyday to help meet people and really try their best with the budget they are given. Staff are tidying and hoovering throughout the whole day, helped with any issues we had with anything. Showers and rooms are clean, kitchen can get a bit messy due to people not tidying up after themselves but that can’t be helped. The TV room was a blessing, so nice to have somewhere you can chill out and stick a film on with lots of other people. I made friends for life here and it would be the first place I’d go back to if I had to stay in a hostel again in sydney.

Really lovely hostel, great staff and atmosphere with events every night including free dinner on Tuesdays. Room/ bathroom was clean and lockers provided. Great public transport routes close by!

Manager at this hostel is so unprofessional,rude to other staff in front of residents. And has the attitude of a child. How this young man is running this establishment is beyond me, the rest of the staff are so pleasent and helpful, don't judge this fantastic hostel by one bad egg.

It's a good hostel if you like to party. It is also suitable for big groups of people as they do offer big rooms. But as it is located in a street that's full of bars, you often get plenty of noises at night. And I had to shower with windows wide open with no light at night, you are able to see people opposite of the streets drinking and partying. (I hope they dont see the me...) Overall, it's a very affordable and average hostel.

The room was clean, but the bathroom had no real door. Only a sliding door which didn't close and was really hard to move, and a curtain that doesn't block any sounds from the bathroom... so in our 8 bed dorm, everyone experienced the other travellers using the bathroom. Also, the shower didn't have a door, so the whole bathroom was always flooded and wet. On the other hand, every bed had it's own power points, but no light. Free breakfast and fresh pancakes every morning!

Very good, clean, nice place , in my luck i got a bed besides a window its was wonderful views of the street and its was some experience. There have a good service, and delicious breakfast. The things is i just need a place with a computer for a week stay but the hostel did not have it. Overall the place was wonderful and i enjoy my stay.😄👌✨

I don't think I plan on coming back to this hostel. We booked a week here, but I wish it was shorter. The location was good and I liked how they had some event nearly every day (ex. free pasta). Despite it being near the train station, the area itself was quite loud and I didn't exactly feel safe walking alone at night. Our room was suppose to have AC, but it was broken so we had the windows wide open because we were on the top floor. Often times we were woken up by people screaming at 4-6am. There's also one toilet on each floor, and for 2 days ours was broken, so it was quite a pain.

Very friendly staff that always take care of you, funny hostel activity are organised. People over there are nice, good place to have fun and save money 👌

This hostel was amazing, the way it is structured and the event nights really help you mingle and meet new people, the staff were great especially Rebecca. The facilities were always kept clean and everything works as it should. They have a great tv room where everyone will get together and listen to music or play games, the kitchen is always busy in the afternoon and there is no shortage of people to meet, I would definitely recommend this for solo travellers and anyone looking to stay in Sydney, it’s close to alot of food places and a metro station. Great stay!

After having bad experiences at several other hostels in Sydney, I gave Mad Monkey a try. Great atmosphere, and the staff are really cool. Something on almost every night too. Will definitely stay here again.

Definitely my favourite hostel so far, ended up extending my stay for an extra week. Loved the different events they put on, made it so easy l to meet people as a solo traveller. The bbq and cheese and wine night were definitely my fav, would recommend if you’re looking for something more chill night otherwise the pub crawl was such a laugh. Overall such a nice vibe and super friendly staff always about to help with any queries

A great fun and social atmosphere at this hostel. The staff are lovely and the location is great and close to the train station. There’s always someone on the cleaning shift so the common areas and toilets are kept nice and clean throughout the day. Really enjoyed my time here and would definitely stay there again!

Wow, what a great location and paid only $15 for such a clean great hostel. What else do you need? Very friendly hotel management and lots of young volunteers there helping to guests. Me and my partner enjoyed our stayed there and be back again in two months time.

I stayed at this hostel for just over 6 weeks and I loved every bit of it, their is events organised every day, which makes the hostel very social and easy to make friends at. The staff here are all absolute legends, and always happy to help, the facilities are great and the rooms are clean with plenty of storage for your things. I couldn't rate this hostel much better, I highly recommend.
