We ordered: - smashed avo - acai bowl Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. It was quite busy when we arrived around 1130am. We were fortunate to get a table.

Walked in and the lovely server sat me in a table inside which I asked for because I did not want to sit on bar stool by the window facing people. Manager told her not to seat individual in a four seat table. There was at least 5 four seat tables empty inside and many tables empty outside. It was definitely not a busy morning and it would take a tourist bus load of people to fill the inside. I cancelled my order and left abruptly to enjoy my coffee and breakfast at one of the many busier cafes along the main strip. I will be informing anyone who asks for recommendations to go to one of the alternative cafes along marrickvile road and new canterbury road. I have lived in this area well before the building that this cafe is in was built. I know this area well and it’s a good community. Just not a good experience in this cafe. Suggest you go elsewhere and compare the experience.

Once upon a time, I would never pay for eating rabbit food and eggs that I could poach at home. But today, I was insanely blown away by the taste of my panko crusted poached eggs, quinoa, with salad, sesame oil dressing... The flavours were zesty, creamy, light yet filling. Washing it all down with my go to joose, an immunity kick, made from orange, carrot, pineapple and ginger. The one I would order from Delish in Marrickville. My curiosity has now increased for the other breakfast bowls on the menu. Thanks to the use of my Dine & Discover voucher, I enjoyed my lunch... 😊

Stopped in here for a coffee and milkshakes for the kids. Kids size milkshakes were very generous and went down a treat. Coffee was well made, just not my preferred flavour in terms of blend used. Service was quick and attentive. Food coming out all looked great so would come back here for breakfast or brunch.

I can't believe I'm reviewing chips. The steak sandwich was great. But these were actually the perfect chips. I had to share them around the table because I couldn't get over how crunchy and perfect they were. I'm almost sad because I didn't know they get this good, and now I'll be left chasing the potato dragon, unable to fully enjoy a regular chip.

Just had a coffee and a hot chocolate, but wonderful little cafe on the main strip. Coffee was good, but needed to be just a bit hotter. Otherwise no complaints.

(2.5 stars) The Spice Route is a weekend pop-up at The Stable cafe at Dulwich Hill. Branching out from their daytime offering—that runs from smashed avo. to burgers—on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings they invite guests to journey with them to the south of India. The menu revolves around single-person dishes where rice and grilled vegetables are plated with your chosen curry. They’re like Westernised thali plates without the balancing pickles and chutneys (sold separately) and the shiny silverware that keeps it separated. You can share entrees like the Chennai (former Madras) dish chicken 65 ($14), though I’d take the menu’s origin story with a grain of salt. We had its vegetarian cousin—cauliflower fritters ($14)—but felt the deep-fried florets lacked the expected chilli bite. Cochin vegetable rolls ($9/3 pieces) fared better. They’re pancakes rolled around a tasty turmeric-tinged vegetable mix which are crumbed and (also) deep-fried. They eat well against mint raita, and with multiple cooking processes, are more effort to put together than I would do at home. Can’t quite say the same for the curries. Chicken Chettinad ($27) was the best of the bunch, cooked in a tomato gravy, showing decent heat from the mix of dry-roasted spices. It came sprinkled with cashews on rice with red loops of grilled capsicum. Pumpkin saag masala ($25) gave a spiced wedge of undercooked pumpkin, a pool of baby spinach-based curry, rice, and truss tomatoes. Ceylon prawns ($29) in creamy coconut were a bit blander and muddy, would have liked less cooking on the crustaceans. I found the buttered Persian naans ($4/each) too stiff and dry to use with the accompanying curry. The pappadum and mixed rice crackers ($4) were better sauce delivery vehicles. With the curries and plating very home-style, this one doesn’t get over the ‘stuff you can’t easily cook at home’ bar for me. However it isn’t expensive, especially when you BYO, and you don’t have to do the washing up.

Not sure I trust all the "local guide" reviews here with 5 stars. Dined here for brunch, food was ok but uninspiring, bit on the pricey side given its simplicity and the more senior staff/owners looked like they couldn't care less if you were there or not. Ordered a salad bowl and scrambled eggs on toast - food was decent but really was just that - a salad with some ingredients tossed together and lemon to squeeze on top. Asked politely if the eggs could be boiled instead of poached, was rudely scoffed at by the waitress that they can't boil it but can poach it through. Fine by me, but didn't understand the attitude for asking. What really got me was I politely asked the same waitress for a spare "fork", and she looked annoyed but went to get one anyway. When she came back, I realised I had made a mistake as I was actually after a "knife" - I owned the error and apologised profusely. She threw her arms up in the air like she was going to strike me with the fork, and I honestly made a small duck thinking she was going to hit me. Went to the counter to pay, the same waitress stared at me with searing eyes as I waited which made me feel ever more uncomfortable. The owner who put through my payment looked like he was on autopilot. Left feeling the senior staff and owners were really inconvenienced by my dining there so won't put them through that again and won't be back.

Overpriced and poor quality. First time here and it was a disappointing experience. We choose this cafe because they had gluten free but it seems the kitchen do not care or do not understand what it means to offer a gluten free alternative. We had to send the burger back because they didn’t toast the gluten free bun. Gluten-free bread should be toasted otherwise it’s very crumbly. They also got our order wrong, serving us chicken nuggets when we ordered a chicken burger. When you order 3 plates and 2 have to be sent back it’s not a great experience. Coffee is so so and the iced coffee was also a rip off. There was more ice than coffee, only 2 sips in there. There are other better cafes on this road with better quality food. We’ll be going elsewhere next time.

Discovered this cafe on the way to work and decided to check it out. Friendly staff, great service. They even gave us a complimentary doughnut. The coffee was decent, I’m not a real fan of Adore beans. However, the food was excellent, which was the general consensus. Highly recommended.

Cozy cafe with an interesting stable/horse theme. Decor is a bit kitschy but may be to other people’s tastes. For a casual meal and coffee it ticks the boxes.

When I went to this Café today, it was probably one of the best café experiences I've ever been to. The music created a great atmosphere, the service was amazing and the food choices weren't too complicated or too basic, there was just the right amount of food choices. I ordered a BLT with chips on the side costing $19 for a portion that could've probably served 2 people! I eventually had to do takeaway given how filling it was. Anyway, one of my friends ordered coffee and it arrived just a minute later! The food service was so fast which was sooo amazing. In my opinion, this is a great place however I wish there were more seating options as even though we managed to get a seat, I can't imagine how packed it would be on the weekend.

I've always had the pleasure of visiting stable cafe that served up one of the best breakfast menus I have ever had. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the level of service and attention to detail that this cafe had to offer. The cafe was clean and well-maintained, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The outdoor seating area was particularly inviting, with comfortable chairs and a peaceful atmosphere that made it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy my meal. One thing that really stood out about this cafe was the chilled water that was available for customers. It might seem like a small detail, but it made a big difference in my overall experience. As for the breakfast menu, there are variety of options available. There were classic favorites like pancakes and eggs, as well as more unique dishes that featured ingredients like avocado and smoked salmon. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious. But what really set this cafe apart was the exceptional service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure that I had everything I needed. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations that made my meal even better. Overall, I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a great breakfast experience. From the delicious food to the welcoming atmosphere and excellent service, it truly exceeded my expectations in every way.

Without a doubt the best cafe in Dulwich Hill, service is impeccable, the coffee is one of the best I've ever had and the food is to die for! You always get your food and drinks fast even when they are full. Couldn't be happier with the experiences I've had at this wonderful cafe.

Nice breakfast, coffee and food was presented well. Staff kept tables clean. Only a few outdoor tables so be quick to get one in the sun on a winters morning, otherwise tables inside

I love this coffee shop because they close at 5pm instead of 4pm like everyone else. I went there today and had a large soy mocha and it was very nice and a generous size. The staff are friendly and considerate.

Went during a peak time around 11am on a Saturday morning. Was seated straight away and coffees came immediately - food was delicious, fresh and also only took around 10 minutes to come out. Wonderful service, will definitely visit again

Clean crispy food with freshness plus plus. Grilled chicken burger was juicy and tender on soft brioche bun. Chicken tenders were succulent and salmon Benedict was light and tasty. Surprisingly the blt on Turkish was the highlight. Definitely worth the visit

Excellent!!! Enjoyed the food immensely. More than impressive menu plus services plus efficiencies to place our orders. The Stable Cafe was packed but we hardly wait for our meals to arrive. Travelling from interstate. Will definitely look forward for the next visit because we were very happily fed customers. This Cafe ought to be 5 star plus plus plus, nothing less!!! Ought to be under the Best in Sydney category! Thank you staff and team for a very pleasant experience.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
