👍👍 I’m not in Dulwich Hill for much longer so regret not finding this place sooner. I had the Breakfast Taco’s, which I wouldn’t usually do, especially for lunch, but it was so good that I wanted to come here to encourage everyone else to do so! People often mention good, friendly, staff, time, coffee, burger, great, service, breakfast, tacos,

I’m a local, and if there’s one thing I miss about Covid, it’s meeting the girls for tacos and margaritas at The General. If you follow them on Instagram, they’re offering some pretty cool Saturday night at-home meals. They change them up all the time. Otherwise, for Covid times, check out the food apps for delivery. Let me paint the picture for post-Covid times. Springtime breeze, outdoor footpath seating or inside. Lovely cold fresh margs, kitchen fresh sold shell tacos (in three flavours), plus wine and other cocktails. You’ll see wine, cocktails, French fries and burgers on the tables around you. The team are friendly and welcoming. It’s an easy-going casual vibe. Chilled. Local. Fun. I am looking forward to seeing you guys once Covid shutdown is over! A table for three on the footpath, please!!! (Lol, no bookings, just walk-ins. But you get the sentiment). ☺️

Always delicious and fresh. The gluten free bread is high quality, and there are lovely touches to the dishes like the spiced caramlised nuts on the smashed avocado. The healthy bowl is also very nice, made with baby Tuscan kale and roast pumpkin. Great coffee selection too, including cold brew. Attentive and uber friendly staff!

We dined at 12:00 on a Friday. There were some tables inside and outside. We elected to sit outside on the footpath. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The drinks range was varied, without being overwhelming. They arrived very quickly and were bitingly cold - outstanding. The menu was broad and diverse. My beautiful wife ordered the gnocchi and I had a burger. They arrived surprisingly quickly. The gnocchi was flavoursome and smooth, with the right balance of truffle. My burger was large, without being cumbersome. It was extremely tasty and had the perfect amount of juiciness. The juices ran into my plate, serving as pools of awesomeness for the chips that lingered because the serving was surprisingly huge. The chips were thin and crispy, with a little bit of chilli. They reminded me that chips could be more than chips, they could be the tickets to inner peace and happiness.

(4.5 stars) The General - Eatery and Supplies is Dulwich Hill’s most popular cafe. Split into two halves—an eatery and a supply store—with a limited number of sidewalk tables, it was abuzz on the Monday I visited. Despite this, staff seated us quickly with a good view of the open kitchen. Dishes fly across the counter from the capable hands of owners and chefs, Dave Moran and Josh McPhee. They land in the mitts of an efficient floor team who still take the time for a friendly word or two while distributing a thirty-minute-lunch to guests who require one. The most popular items are burgers and fluffy, American-style corn fritters. I combine the two on a vege burger ($18) with jalapeño poppers, cheese, onion, pickles, chipotle aioli, tomato and great quality lettuce on a pillowy potato bun. It’s a really good burger. The General burger ($18) is equally well-constructed, switching out the fritters for a juicy, house-minced beef patty. The aioli is replaced with a “special” sauce, and the poppers with rashers of maple-cured bacon. It slides down easy against a restorative Bloody Mary ($15) and a shared basket of very compelling shoestring fries ($7). Amp up flavours by playing with the pair of hot sauces available in their produce store: the green jalapeño hot sauce (salsa picante) is a particularly good one. And finally, if you’re torn between healthy juices and alcohol, The Paradox ($17) has got your back. Combining super green juice with tequila, it’s a pleasant way to disguise your desire for a cocktail on a Monday lunch from the yummy Mummy set busily cooing over each other’s progeny.

Oh the chicken burger! This place has quite an extensive menu but I’ve not gone past the chicken burger on quite a few occasions. Wonderful potato bun and the most succulent chicken, in my opinion it’s up there as the best chicken burger in Sydney with Baby Rey’s. The chips are a lovely accompaniment with a great seasoning.

We’ve been having brunch at The General as a Sunday treat and it has always been nothing less than delicious! The Musshies on toast are my favourite, simple, wholesome and earthy. They make the butter themselves, it is so rich and tasty, we always ask for extra.

Excellent breakfast tacos, with great flavour and tasty jalepeno papers and salsa. Full of filling too. Cold brew coffee was fantastic, with well extracted flavour but beautiful softness from extraction. Staff were lovely and engaging. Very enjoyable :)

I love that you can see the chefs toiling away in the open kitchen, and when Josh is there, you know the food will have that extra special magic touch. My daughter always gets the bagel with cream cheese because they know how to perfectly toast a bagel! I change it up each time but I've never been disappointed...today I had the granola and it was exquisite...I was only disappointed that I couldn't finish it all. Staff are always helpful. Parking is at a premium but we usually find one on a side street fine.

First time at this cafe, and it was cozy inside with plenty of pavement tables too. The coffee was a bit cold (double ristretto) and slightly bitter so I had a pot of Earl grey too, which didn't disappoint. Didn't eat here but food looked good. I'll go back and give it a second go, as the service was brilliant - two different chicks served me, and both were proper nice.

I was impressed by the breakfast tacos Very nice flavours and quite a new thing to try The service is great, the staff are very friendly and welcoming The outside area is also dog friendly, I would just suggest more comfortable chairs as the no backs chairs are not the best Will definitely be back to try different things

Lovely spot for brunch. Really enjoyed the breakfast tacos though a little on the pricier side compared to other brunch options for the serving size. Chai latte was way too spicy for my liking - not like any other chai latte I’ve had before. They have a 10% surcharge on weekends.

This is place is a Dulwich Hill staple, I tried something new this time, the breakfast tacos, honestly - I don’t think I’ll go back to my normal corn fritter order. They were so tasty and delicious, I’d prob just ask for extra tortilla next time.

Stopped in here for a morning coffee. Coffee was perfectly made. Staff were friendly and Cafe has a great buzz about it. Menu looked sophisticated and had a range of options. Will come back for breakfast or brunch some time.

Really good coffee, food and service. Tried the corn fritters which are the best I've ever had. Beef burger was also really good. The attached general store is great to pick up good quality pantry staples.

Amazing healthy breakfast menu and lunch menu. Happy hour drinks, available in evenings. Beautiful healthy - cold pressed juices made in house. The mushroom confit on sourdough, with a poached egg breakfast was unbelievably yummy! Comes with a vegan option (minus the poached egg) also - for those who have different dietary requirements. Family friendly and all round welcoming venue, for all people. Very friendly and hospitable waitstaff. Dog friendly.

A very lively place for a weekend dinner. Everything was really good. Had the veggie burgers which were a treat with fries. Really good service and polite cheerful staff who manage so well on a busy night as well.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
