OMG! I am never coming back here again. I had 4 people visiting from South America and I wanted to show them the famous Imperial Hotel! The only table they had available for 5 people this week was Thursday 8pm. Once I modified my party to 6, we got moved to 8:30pm… when we got here we found out that: 1) the place was DEAD; 2) the shows have ended for they day; 3) the kitchen was closing 20min later!!! Avoid this place! Better hit Oxford St…

This place would be good if they got rid of the “security staff” that are high on power. I got told to leave even though I wasn’t doing anything wrong whatsoever. Feels like once they’ve got enough money from you they scout to get people out so they can get more people in that will pay more money. The girl that asked me to leave with no explanation needs to get a grip on reality. Be warned, this is a money machine and not about your enjoyment.

We stopped in on a Friday expecting to see the Priscilla show. Sadly, there is conflicting info on their website which says both Friday and Saturday. There’s a drag show on Friday but the Priscilla show is only on a Saturday. With that being said, the drag performers we saw on the Friday were good! The service is really friendly here and everyone was super lovely. It’s a friendly bar which is nice. The food was nice. They have a menu with pizzas, pastas, sandwiches etc.

great venue, good for a quick drink or a Saturday night out. loved the music there, plus all the staff were friendly and welcoming at the door and inside. drinks weren't too badly priced as well. I recommend the shows if you get a chance. they are well performed and respected, should you also get the chance on a Saturday, go out dancing here! plenty of good songs and classics to let loose to. They have some good events here as well downstairs, so always good to check what is coming up. Lastly the venue itself is huge. the architecture is beautiful and is something of a landmark. make sure you pay a visit if you're wanting to make a night out

Great drag queens and good food. What more can you ask for? We had a great time and special thanks to the manager who gave us the best table in the house! The drinks are a bit weak though.

Excellent food/bev and staff at this iconic Sydney hotel. Wow the attention to detail and the shows are second to known. The quality of the meals were absolutely outstanding and I can’t say enough for what a fantastic time we had. Management and staff went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after and treated like VIPs all weekend. Say hi to Ian from Dublin, the restaurant manager while you’re there! June Marie Bennett aka Shirl from Priscilla Queen of the desert sends her love hugs and thanks to you all.

Such a legendary venue. I didn’t actually know it still existed but my partner and I watched Priscilla a few weeks back and looked it up and surprised me. We had a couple drinks and some food and watched some drag shows. The food is good from what my partner told me, but vegetarian options are limited, I just had a bowl of chips. The drag show was fantastic and it felt special being in such an iconic venue.

We dined upstairs specifically for pizza as downstairs is more of a pub. Their truffle one is divine - make sure you add a burrata on top! Really enjoyed their prawn and friends enjoyed the pepperoni (pizzas around $25-30 ea). Cute seating area with overhead umbrellas and a live DJ and a bar!

This place is doing gods work!!! I have been here twice now in the last two months. Cute atmosphere, great dance floor and the biggest disco ball I have ever seen. The drinks prices are reasonable and the dj's music is great for dancing. All the staff are super friendly and quick. Ive read some of the negative reviews but I must be going to a different bar because this one is safe, fun and honestly really great.

We booked the drag and dine section of the Imperial. The drag show and entertainment was great however the staff were slow and it took forever to receive our drinks & my husband was served the wrong drink 3 times. Food was so overpriced for what you got I had the Angus skirt and it was so tough you have to get your sides as an extra & my chips were cold the side of greens dish was just a bunch of leafy wilted greens which looked horrible I didn’t even eat it. We were recommended for dessert the doughnuts we were told that it came as six but we only received four and they were very doughy and dense the sauce with them was tasteless My sister-in-law purchased the carrot dish which was one carrot covered in some sauce and that was like $20. I was so disappointed and felt completely ripped off.

Just had a terrible experience at The Imperial. I was refused entry there because I didn’t have an digital certificate of the COVID vaccination, even though I had my Immunisation Record, an official document issued by NSW Government that proof vaccination status according to the NSW regulations. A person, that identified herself as the general manager, said she could not accept that. Which makes it even more regrettable, since one expect that a at least the general manager of a venue is supposed to know the regulations applied to its business. I am a big enthusiast of the vaccines and got both my shots as soon as it was available to my age group and it is just frustrating to have been refused entry because the manager of a venue is ill prepared to verify who has been vaccinated or not, according to the regulations.

Interesting concept of Drag and Dine, nice (short) show, good atmosphere. Food was not tasty or special in my opinion. Service and attention to details were on the low level.

If your from the older generation, expect to be overlooked at the bar if you want to order drinks or food. And expect the staff to be shocked and surprised when you point out you’ve been waiting to served. Decent bar staff would have an eye for which customers would be served next.

Went out on a Friday to see for dinner, drinks and a drag show. Very excited. There was no communication of our menu and what was going on. Some dishes were added and some taken off the menu with no explanation. Our server was rude when we asked about our drinks package which she had missed, told me I still had to buy the drink I had ordered. She did give us complimentary bubbles, which doesn't make sense since I believe that was included. Our food was dumped in front of us. It was hard to catch anyone to order drinks-which we did once throughout the whole event. I asked at the end if we could grab one more drink. No, the bill is already settled (we prepaid). Then we (and others) were rushed out. From what we saw, the show was fun but there was so much noise through the pa system you couldn't hear what anyone was saying. Hopefully we caught them on a bad night but i won't be going back to find out.

Priscilla’s Restaurant for the Saturday night show was the perfect way to welcome myself back into society after lockdown! Food was absolutely brilliant, the shows and the queens were incredible, and the staff were gorgeous! Special shout-out to my servers Amy and Anya tonight they were most accommodating and were smiling and cheerful the whole evening! Cannot recommended it enough!

Music amazing. Bar staff in the Basement are so rude. Especially the blonde short bleach hair guy. He is so rude. Needs a personality check. Remember we pay for your wages. No need to act like a total tool.

We went here for the drag n dine for my birthday and it was amazing!! Nice cocktails, great music, amazing food and really lovely staff. Also the decor in the place is beautiful!! We ended up staying for an extra 3 hours after the show because the music was too good not to stay for a dance. This is the first place I've gone to in a long time that felt like a safe space, no dramas or judgement, everyone is just there for some fun and a good time. We cannot wait to come back!!!

I have been kicked out unreasonably after paying $25 entry. I was there for 20 minutes and had a single drink. I was completely sober. Some older lady said that I had invaded their space when I clearly wasn't. I haven't even seen them. The security didn't even listen to my side of the story and just kicked me out. I loved the place and have been there many times, but after this occasion is very unlikely that I'll be back. It's a shame because everything else is great :/

One of the best queer pubs in Sydney. Loved the laid back vibe. Friendly staff. The restroom was clean and neat. No violent vibes neither shirtless stupid guys trying to get you. Definitely the best place to have a good night with your whole group of friends. ❤️

When in Sydney, we think the quintessential place for celebrating Pride is at the Imperial Erskineville. We went when we visited Sydney for World Pride. It has multiple areas inside including a main bar and a lounge, but we went to Priscilla’s restaurant. That’s where you can have some good food and cocktails, and can also take in one of their famous drag shows. But this is not just any drag bar, it was made famous in the classic film ‘The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’. We attended a special drag presentation for World Pride and loved it and were surprised by the quality of the food and drinks served as well as the excellent service.

The rooftop pizza by Pizza Bros is such a vibe and they serve one of the best pizzas in Sydney IMO!! Woodfried perfection and the dough is hand stretched, so thin and so soft and fluffy!! The toppings are very unique and got vegan and vegetarian options too! Highly recommend getting the pizza from the brothers!!!

Had a great time at the ‘Drag and dine’ experience! Feeling to fun that The imperial is known for. The food was fantastic! Oh…. Don’t forget to visit the rooftop fir some great pizzas with Pizza Bro….. pets welcome!

Pizza Bros in the rooftop of Imperial was such a disappointing experience. I went there with 2 Italian friends to enjoy dinner but it turned out to be a very bad experience. Firstly, the pizzas arrived all at different times and we couldn't enjoy the meal all together as we would've liked. Secondly, for some reason, the vegan pizza was one of the most expensive items in the menu and the quality of it was very poor, I mean if you are going to charge me $28 for a vegan pizza I would at least expect to have vegan cheese, or better ingredients. Thirdly, all the pizzas were burnt, which OK I understand because you cook them in a woodfire oven but it is very unacceptable to get a pizza that looks like was scratched with a knife to get rid of the burnt outside but the underneath was completely black. I won't come back to the pizza bros never again, but the Imperial Hotel is such a nice place!!!! Ps: You can see in the photo attached that the quality of ingredients and presentation was very, very poor for a vegan pizza.

    - Drag and dine is a fun experience, decent food; the division between Bar and Eating is a little jarring though. - Weekday drinks are fine and usually quieter; decent selection of alcohol; music can be a tad loud for deep conversations sometimes, but outdoor afternoon seating is welcome. Dog friendly now which is a bonus - Party nights have become my least favourite part. For an iconic queer bar, it's a bit shocking the amount of straight boyfriends who get dragged into the Imperial, and have encountered homophobia on multiple occasions. The DJ's on top usually aren't great, with lack of structure and mixing out of key, making transitions incredibly jarring. Diverse selections of tracks however make it fun for a wide range of age ranges, although less pop-folk music tracks is definitely needed (if I hear Love Story one more time, I'm gonna lose it). - Downstairs can be hit or miss. Bar is hard to get too, however the balcony viewing is better than most. DJs are usually better, but can be hit or miss. Drag performances are usually fantastic down here. - Sunday nights are usually the better nights as it's more queer and the drag shows are more amateur and thus more 'real' so to speak. If you want your classic priscilla-esque night, Sunday is for you. - Bouncers are lovely, staff during quiet periods are also lovely; busy nights they can be quite short and sharp, but that's standard. - Event nights can be confusing trying to get in and out of the place. - Amenities are standard.

Visited Friday 19/11/21. 5 stars for the PHENOMENAL drag queens <3 and entertainers (Demon Derriere woo! and some spicy thickney spears type and others, all incredible honestly) and the DJ downstairs, absolute pop bops for hours (so much Kylie Minogue & only $10 entry). My only constructive criticism which is uncomfortable to raise is the security staff. I'd like to acknowledge that working in security is a hard job, you'd be seeing some people at their worst and no one can be perfect, we're all human. The snippy comments at the door on the way in and way out by two different security guards made me reflect on the importance of not imposing your own stress and anxiety on others when flustered or tired because they did this. I don't drink, was sober, was not wearing my glasses and had my fiancé beside me on both interactions. The comment, "One at a time, thanks guys", followed with an enormous frown, my short sighted self could see a mile away without glasses even if I hadn't have been the one front of line being spoken to directly was abrasive and passive aggressive. I was standing there patiently, relaxed with my covid vaccine passport and license out for when she was ready, she can take her time, I was not imposing my identification in her face impatiently. And the, "Ah...yeah you just push it" comment, followed by a cheshire cat mocking grin in regards to the door on the way out because I paused for a moment as it's my 2nd visit (years apart), my vision was adjusting and I wasn't sure I had the right exit was unnecessary and caustic and reeked of the narrow minded assumption, "people without common sense are stupid". No one was behind my fiancé and I, I was not holding up a line. I raise these interactions because they undermine and devalue the performers and all the staff doing a great job and because The Imperial is meant to be a safe space. I spoke to the friends I went with later who are monthly regulars at the Imperial, they said the security are often like this. Hoping the security reflect on if unable to be polite at the very least not being rude and adding some more self care into their lives.

Always have an amazing time at The Impy - been coming here for a lot of years (pre-reno too). Omar on the door is a perennial favourite face on the door and of course Ian is always an amazing host in Priscilla's and beyond. Love you guys do - and of course an honourary mention to Ruby Royale and Farren Heit

Power tripping staff! I’m not sure what has happened to this place but it’s certainly not a relaxed environment to be in anymore. I was asked to leave the establishment by a staff member who did not give me a reason and then asked the aggressive security person to assist, all because I wanted to know why I had to leave. I do not know why I was singled out as I was not drunk or causing any upset. It was a very unpleasant situation to be in and one that spoiled my evening out with friends. Considering there were groups of drunk people dancing and screaming and they were left alone, I felt victimised. My opinion on this place is to avoid it and go somewhere else that is friendlier.

Nice pub with a rooftop bar and pizza oven producing authentic stone fired pizza which looks amazing. Gluten free is an extra $7. Nothing special about the boring beer line up; on tap or in the fridge. Dog friendly, but please, not where I am eating!

Great place for trivia, cheap food and drinks. Great vibe for dancing and having a great time with friends. Unfortunately, I was served by a really rude girl at the bar (tall with brown hair) who made the visit so unenjoyable. She was rude to other customers as well - these customers shared their unpleasant experience with me. The other staff were lovely and worked really hard.

Pizza Bros is run by Marty and Joey, two brothers who have perfected the art of pizza over 20 years. They have previously served up delicious pizzas at Bella Brutta, Gigis and the Dolphin Hotel so now they created their own pizza empire called Pizza Bros. I have high expectations with Pizza Bros as their dazzling gold pizza oven catches my eye. I order the "Quality Beast" ($28) which has Fior Di Latte, Pomodoro Sugo, Red Onion, LP's Salami Cotto and Wholebeast Butchery Salicce. Straight away, I can appreciate the light and fluffy pizza base. I am a fan of this pizza innovation called Leopard style pizzas. The base is light so the toppings are full of flavour and you can focus on the combination of tomato base, delicious salami and cheese. Delicious. I'm a fan and I can understand the hype. For more photos and information, check out my blog post.

First time visiting the Imperial and I have to say it definitely won't be the last! My partner took me to celebrate our 9 year anniversary with some drag and dinner and it ended with him proposing to me on stage with the Queens. It's a memory I will hold close to me forever ❤️ Big shoutout to Gino, James and Victoria! (sorry if I mispelled or misremembered any of your names 😓). You guys were all so amazing and made me feel so welcome and at home. And obviously thank you to the Queens as well, they were all so beautiful and entertaining and I can't wait to come back and do it again!

The drag shows, music and atmosphere tend to be on point. This review is more to do with the dining. The food as part of the drag and dine shows is not quite as good and filling as it once was. Especially not for the price paid. I was left wanting to order more food on the side afterwards.

Super cute. There’s different levels and all sorts of events on all the time. The main bar has a renaissance painted roof and a huge disco ball. They have gender neutral bathrooms, a pool table and pinball machines. I went to the drag bingo that’s held on a Thursday night. Tina Bikki is normally the host + a guest. She’s hilarious and make bingo very entertaining

My whole family love to visit The Imperial. It's the only venue in Sydney where my little daughter gets to enjoy watching the fabulous queens perform. The latest show, The Priscilla Experience, is seriously incredible and I've been both as a family on a Sunday afternoon and a Saturday night with friends, when things were a bit more wild. Both times we had such an exceptional time. The value for money is second-to-none. The food in Priscilla's is always delicious, but most of all, the staff have given us some of the best service experiences we've ever had. We will always continue to come to The Imperial because the venue is a safe and inclusive space which is an absolute asset in today's word.

Staff were super helpful and allowed me to get a different wine when I thought the initial glass was slightly off. The golden oven was over the top and great. Two words TOFU LAKSA, I keep coming back to eat more of this yummy dish, I would love if once I could get a table when is just two of us, as we always have to sit at the bar, no matter if I make a booking or not, and last time which was last week Friday there was a table for two empty the whole time :) Other than that had a fab time, ate yummy food and had super friendly service from lovely Jeremy

I really enjoyed this place! Came here for a bachelorette and had a lot of fun! The food was delicious and the Entertianment excellent! My only complaint is that the bar server was super slow to pour drinks, which was an issue because we had paid for the 2 hrs of unlimited drinks package but it was at least 30 mins until everyone even had their first drink.

Incredibly, incredibly, incredibly rude staff. We literally currently are here for a bachelorette night & an Italian looking woman with a slicked back pony tail is absolutely disgustingly rude. Instead of saying “hey ladies, sorry but would you be able to move out of this area?” She shouts, “GET OUT!” For a place that’s supposed to be all about love and acceptance, it’s definitely not what you get. Really upset because we spent quite a bit here & we’ve gotten treated like absolute trash.

I normally go there for night out. I love downstairs. It is nice and cosy. The drag shows are good too and the DJs are good both floors. The crowd is more chilled compared to the one in the city.

Every time we have gone to the imperial we always have extremely rude bar staff. I’m a type 1 diabetic and when ever I order a drink with Diet Coke or sugar free red bull I always explain this. Once the bar staff have poured it I always ask to make sure and I’m always returned with a rude response. Last night at the the broken heel x the imperial event, I asked for a sugar free vodka red bull, writing it down on my phone for the bar staff to read due to the noise in the venue being to loud for people to be heard clearly, then clearly watched him use the left over cans of full sugar red bull mixed with sugar free and watched him place them down on the bar. When I told the bar staff I can’t have that because of the sugar content as I’m diabetic, he lifted the can and said it’s sugar free which I replied with “can you show me the other can”, which he did however it was full sugar. I explained again that I can’t have that and that’s not what I ordered and he replied with “can’t you have natural sugar” with a rude blunt dismissive tone. I said no I can’t because I’m a diabetic and received an annoyed look, watched him pour me another drink with sugar free red bull without any eye contact, apology or responses, just attitude. This wouldn’t be an issue if it was a once off thing but there has been multiple times where we have received attitude form bar staff for no reason. The management really needs to educate and pull up their bar staff on their unprofessional ways.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
