The Rose is our local — we love this place! Fantastic whether you just want a feed and a bev, or hosting a function. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great selection of contemporary, local craft beers and ciders on tap, and always has an awesome menu of burgers which they regularly update.

Wow, food has really gone downhill, we ordered the chicken schnitzel and what arrived wouldn't rate in a soup kitchen, commercially battered chicken with no flavour above the oil it had soaked up and with a tough skin. Really disappointed. $24 for the experience.

Ordered 3 drinks for $40. Cider was completely watered down and tastes like soggy cardboard. Went to order food and ask if I could replace the cider. Line was very long to get food which is understandable as we are in covid but when I finally got to the bar a girl who was not in the line at all and just jumped to the bar. The manager asked who was here first and when I said I was as I was waiting in the line he acted like I was exceptionally rude and said to me "so you're not going to let her go first..." When I finally got to order my food which was another $60 I asked if I could swap the drink I had hardly touched and he said No and basically acted like I was lying. I've been going to the Rose multiple since it first opened and it has gone so far down hill. It has always been overpriced but this time and the last time I've been the food has also been tasteless. Never going back.

I definitely recommend having a function here. The food was delicious and there were plenty of options. The staff leading up to the event and the night of the event were great. The staff made it an enjoyable and memorable birthday.

House of Palms hosted a flower crown workshop at the Rose of Australia for a hen's party of 14 people and it was fabulous. The staff were accommodating, the atmosphere was great and the decor was cool. The function was upstairs at the front of the venue and it was the perfect space. Would highly recommend this venue for a function

The tiniest, overpriced schnitzel in Sydney. This is what you get at the Rose for TWENTY FOUR bucks …. Pretty much daylight robbery, very underwhelming, oily and not tasty at all :-( have a drink here, but choose somewhere else to eat!

Loved the gluten free & vegan options here. Even the wine list designated vegan & sustainable options. I enjoyed the superfood salad while my partner had the parma. Enjoyed by all.

I visited the Rose this week for the first time in many years and had the pleasure of meeting the friendly publican Scott Leach serving behind the bar. He welcomed us to the pub, made us completely at home and hosted us to ensure we had the most amazing lunch....you will not leave hungry after lunch at the Rose! Not only were the servings generous but the freshness, presentation and overall quality was outstanding....there is a wide ranges of choices suiting all needs with many healthy options for those watching their diet. I will be back again soon Scott!

Nice interior and fantastic food (and serving sizes!) though the air con can struggle on a hot day

Love the art of this place. The chicken and mushroom pot pie was really good but a bit small for a main meal.

Thumbs up for this intercity pub... It's really relaxing to chill out over a few beers and a delightful meal. Great place to meet up with friends or take the family our for meal. It not over priced for drink. Some of the meals can be a bit pricey, but it worth the money at the end of the day. At this place to your weekend list indeed.

Tacos are the best in the business. Kitchen is amazing, what an iconic spot to come have dinner with a gorgeous menu and cocktails to back it up. Big shout out to the kitchen and bar staff.

Apparently this place has a good reputation and it’s always full when I’ve visited. It does have a nice and groovy vibe. Unfortunately, the customer service here is honestly bad. The staff are generally young white kids who look uninterested, are, at times, dismissive and project an attitude that conveys that the job that they are being paid to do is somehow beneath them. This place could benefit from hiring more ethnically diverse and mature staff. It can also improve on the quality of its food which is quite expensive.

Just hosted my 30th birthday at Rose of Australia and I am so extremely happy with their service and food, it was a seamless function and I cannot recommend them enough for your next event. From the booking process with cakes cakes by zio diz reviews by zio diz reviews Rebecca, to the service on the day from Rachel and her team, I had zero issues and was so happy with everything they were doing for me. The bar was so well managed and the staff were lovely, the grazing table was a hit with a range of selections, people are still talking about how tasty the arancini and bao buns were and I loved being able to have a drinks table in the middle of the function also. The vibe of this place is so cool and Howard’s Bar and the Terrace looked amazing and fit my 100 guests well. It was kid friendly too and loved that it felt outdoorsy whilst still being covered etc. amazing space. Once the function was over, we all trickled down into the main bar which was equally as fun and beautiful. Thanks so much for allowing me to celebrate my 30th at Rose of Australia!

The Chicken Schnitzel is succulent drizzled with a delicious mushroom sauce and partnered with a small side of salad and chips. The tacos are packed full of juicy chicken and is definitely worth trying with the jalapenos if you want the extra spicy kick. You can also choose a lettuce-based wrap instead of tortilla if you prefer a lighter and less-carb meal. The place is quite roomy and has a small outdoor seating option in the middle, also a balcony where you can enjoy a tasty meal while gushing over the beautiful dogs that walk by. Overall, a great place with great service that you need to check out ☺

We recently had a function at the Rose and it was incredible. The function and events coordinator Rebecca was really helpful and on the night the manager Jacob made sure everything was well organized. The food platters we ordered were delicious and all the bar staff were really helpful and pleasant. 10/10 would recommend for any function!

The Rose is a beautiful pub. The facilities were great with a bar and toilets both upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs terrace space was delightful with open air and lots of space while still being cosy. The staff were all lovely and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.

The Rose is an old favourite so my husband and I recently held our wedding "recovery" here in the upstairs space. Everyone was extremely helpful, from the first enquiry we sent through to the day itself - great food, drinks, easy bar tab, great space for everyone and super accommodating. Don't hesitate to book for an easy-going and good value / good quality function or celebration. Thanks team!

I visited as part of an event in their upstairs space. I was incredibly impressed by the interior and the quality of service. There was another group in the space, and it was smoothly run. Although it seems very unassuming from the outside, but opens up to a lovely mix of traditional and contemporary interiors. A great location, with a good menu and a good mix of wines, beers and cocktails.

Went there through the week to grab a meal, was met with unfriendly service and poor quality beer. Wasn't impressed or want to commit any more time or money than absolute minimum. Would not recommend.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch today. 1st time at the venue, we were very happy with the meals and excellent service. We did not wait long for our meals very prompt service. Caesar Salad, side of chips. Snitty single stacker with mash, mushy-peas, gravy & coleslaw very tasty.

Recently held my 30th birthday at the Cantina bar. It was a themed event and from start to finish the entire process was extremely easy & they were so accommodating with any requests (dietary requirements, decorations etc). The night itself was seamless and the staff were also great on the night. I would definitely recommend holding your event here!

Very nice bar with plenty of seating and lots of different type of sitting locations. Venue looks very interesting due to fact that each seating/room has its own "style". Great food and drink menu. Honestly, nachos dish was to die for. Parking may be difficult, but worth to visit.

A small and qiant traditional owned pizza/pasta store In the heart of Dulwich Hill (less than 5mins wall from the station). Open for lunch - mid evening (see pictures FMI + Menus). Brought the Large Americana (pictured) for $19 - hot, fresh, tasty and very much value for money. Can get VERY busy, buy well worth the wait (PLEASE BE PATIENT/HAVE PATIENCE - ALL good food made by scratch and prepared with love + by.hand takes time!). Frenetic, yet honest / nonsense and friendly staff with old fashioned, value for $$ and great food. Order via Uber Eats//DoorDash (more $$$ - delivery fees/higher app prices), take away or dine in for the full, authentic experience (NOTE: dine in and T/A = ca$h only, nearest ATM is 10-15moms walk in opposite direction at the local bottle-o 🍷) + no booze/BYO; else this rating would of been 5 stars. A local gem and highly, highly recommend!! 💯

The lobster tacos was the stand out dish for me. Great drinks and lively ambience. Excellent customer service. The waitress was really nice and was helping us find seats as the venue was quite packed. It’s quite nice to sit upstairs.

One of my favourite pubs in the inner west. Great menu that caters really well for gluten intolerance. Everything on the menu is clearly labelled and you can get GF bun for your burger or go lettuce cup option. Better wines than you’ll find at most pubs. Good spot for groups and events too.

A good pub feed option! Generous portions for the burgers and nachos. Plenty of space and has outdoor seating options too. Upstairs makes a good venue for events. Easy to find location and is also located close to the train station.

The gastropub offers a delightful atmosphere, creating a welcoming ambiance for patrons. Their food menu boasts excellent options, and the diverse selection of drinks caters to various preferences. While parking options around the pub are limited, the proximity to Erskineville station proves to be incredibly convenient, ensuring accessibility for all.

Having recently moved into the area, we spent a fantastic evening at the Rose last month to celebrate a not-insignificant birthday that had snuck up on me. A lovely feel to the various spaces, great food and booze, excellent service and a hugely generous welcome (incl an unexpected bottle of bubbly on the house). No surprise at all that we were the last to be chucked out at stupid o'clock. Thank you very much, Scott and team. We'll be back.

I haven’t eaten here for a few years but can confirm the food was awful then and still is. $23 for this very sad lamb roll and didn’t even come with fries.

  • 3/5 Liss P. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice place, friendly staff, great drinks and prices. I ordered a salad there, it didn't come with everything it said it would, and was very bland. Apparently the burgers and feies are great though.

Great pub in Erskineville with historic atmosphere. Mondays are currently steak nights ($20 rumps) and that's what we ended up going for. They also currently have a $20 pitcher of the day deal.

Beautifully renovated spaces industrial style with very comfy seating suitable for groups of all sizes large or small. Nice open sunny courtyard space. Impressive and varied menu with the usual pub fare range of burgers, steak but amped up in terms of execution to make it true gastropub. There’s also grilled fish and seafood pasta, and charcuterie plate for nibbles with a tipple. Special mention of the prawn crackers with spicy seasoning and the grilled barramundi with fennel and cucumber salad that was superb. Friendly staff, prices for food and drinks reasonable with good range of craft and standard beers on tap as well as nicely made cocktails. Really great pub to hang out with friends for many hours, super convenient right beside Erskineville train station. Will be my go to!

The place looks pretty cool. Lots of light and funky decor. Service was pleasant but minimal. What happened to table service? The staff stand around chatting while our tables sit dirty. All they do is wait down one end of the bar at the till. Food was really average. I had the Sunday roast and it was all dried out. Gravy was runny and the Yorkshire pud was like cardboard. Really disappointing. Don't bother.

Great food and good atmosphere. I've been here a couple of times for an event and a casual hangout with a large group of friends. There has always been a good selection of drinks and foods. We had the burgers, hot chips and nachos. Everything was overall good pub food.

Nice spot for a drink after work because the staff are great and it's trying to be a good modern pub. Somehow, it's lost a bit of its character and charm from yesteryear because of the crowds and design. I wouldn't say its bad, if you just want a clean and central place to have a good ol beer.

This is a great favourite whenever I visit my former 'hood of the inner west. It has great customer service and the food is delicious, healthy with vegetarian options and real value for money. Pub Manager is friendly and goes out of his way to make patrons feel at home.

  • 4/5 S. M. 4 years ago on Google
Visited on a week night for dinner, easy to request drinks or food menu and the time of food delivery was of standard time. Once the table had finished eating, we had to remove the big table of dishes to another table after 30 minutes as we were just disappointed of the table clearance time whilst the pub was quiet but had enough staff though they seam to struggle to act on this. The chips were on point, very crunchy and delish?? Pricing was slightly higher than normal and the venue was very clean with many rooms down and upstairs opportunities.

It’s nice to go to a pub in Sydney that had actually transformed to be fresh, lively and somewhere you want to hang around in the 21st Century. Friendly service, standard pub fare food as well as awesome roasts on a Sunday for lunch - too good!

Went twice for lunch but both occasions the order was rather dissapointing. Tacos covered with chedder cheese was not impressive nor appetising. Burger with onion rings too salty. My colleagues were not impressed either. No single good feedback on both occasions. Unfortunately want to avoid from now on.
