A fine, fine restaurant amicable service . The order was easy sparkling bottle water, and a wood oven fired pizza absolutely set the warm welcome. It was a nice enjoyable experience. Whilst entertaining ana

No split bills - even though it’s not that hard. We were told to go outside and get cash in the ATM. I mean really in this day in age. Are we still living in the Stone Age? Really loud music and you cannot have a normal chat. The manager said he couldn’t put it down and it changes the volume by itself. The music self regulates?!!! ? Although decent crusts, the pizzas were dry, some had no sauce. It’s like a cabbage salad on a pizza dough. The food is touch and go in taste. Pity because the ingredients were interesting on paper but the execution and taste didn’t align. Don’t order the potato pizza It’s dry and sad.

Known for their vegan wood-fired pizzas! I enjoyed the pizza I ordered, which contained minimal processed ingredients (except for vegan cheese) yet tasted very flavourful. The tiramisu dessert was good too. I did find the lighting rather dim, and it got quite noisy with people trying to talk over the loud music; I understand it's subjective and some people might like this ambience though. This is a populary eatery that draws a crowd/queue; reservations not accepted. Note that they are a cashless eatery, and 10% surcharge is applied on public holidays. Few minutes' walk from Newtown Station.

I don’t know if I had high expectations, my choices or because it was a take out but for me the food was bland, however the pizza dough was really good! I hope to give it a proper chance again on my next visit.

Extremely good vegan pizza! For my taste a bit salty, but the dough was very good! Great combinations.

Buzzy, happy place with a short wait… worth it. Stylish vegan food, great pizza and some very good wines. Sit up the front if you can as it gets quite noisy - this is the full Newtown experience, and why we love the area ❤️

I remember Gigi being really excellent before, but this time I’m disappointed. There was so much oil on all the pizzas, and to be honest, we didn’t like the cheese. It just tasted really bland. Music was also too loud so we couldn’t talk. Pizzas were good but just very pricey!

quote from my bf “the best vegan place in Sydney” - the food was amazing, the crust was super yummy and toppings were all fresh. - we ordered 3 different pizzas and 1 salad. the bill was around $110 or less than that. the pizza was around $30 each and salad was around $15. - they have a qr code menu and payment system, so you don’t have to wait to order or anything. that also means card payment only and a small amount of payment fee (less than $1 for our bill) - the place was busy (we went on ANZAC evening) and there were only 2 waitresses. one was really cheerful and the other one was kinda grumpy. maybe it was too busy and she had to work under pressure. we ordered 1 pizza with extra rocket topping but they forgot and then she took it inside and put some rocket on definitely will go back!

Great experience. I don’t think I’d have known it was vegan if you hadn’t told me! There was lots of variety. We had the arancini ai funghi porcini, gnocchi al forno, lasagne, funghi e radicchio pizza and the sausage and peperoncino pizza. They were all tasty, but the gnocchi was a little heavy and dense and the pizza is Neapolitan-style with a soggy centre. If that’s your thing, you’ll love it! The standout to me was the arancini, which was super crunchy and so fragrant. For dessert we had the cheesecake and the cannoli. One of those “are you sure this isn’t dairy?” moments. Staff were so, so lovely - kind and attentive. Covid protocols all observed; doors wide open, staff all masked and order and pay through the app. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommended vegan Italian restaurant. The food makes you wonder how the make such delicious things with only plants. Their recreation of the 4 formaggi, taste way better than real dairy. We also had the very well made Arancini balls and the gnocchi. And as a special treat, the eggplant parmigiana! Very hard to pick the favorite dish. Super friendly and helpful service. (The photos don’t do it justice)

Gigi Pizzeria is a great place for casual catch ups to romantic dates. Getting in early in the evening will guarantee you a spot but the wait time can be long later on. Very much worth it though, for the certified Neapolitan pizza. The eggplant calzone was incredible, I'd recommend you order at least one alongside your pizza. The almond potato fritters were also a delicious morsel!

Best vegetarian pizzas I have had. The mushroom pizza is really flavourful and crispy. The taste of the folded pizzas are also very saturated and can definitely are as good as non-vegetarian pizzas. However pesto gnocchi lacks a little flavour and tomato gnocchi some may find it too sour.

I’m amazed at how good this vegan pizza place is and I’m ready to visit again! Great pizza, great taste, you don’t notice there’s no cheese or meats! My fave was the broccoli and beyond sausage pizza. A little salty but the little balls of “mozzarella” was almost indistinguishable from real cheese. The other 2 pizzas were really good too. I like the crust - nice chew and not too soggy. The appetizers were good too! Arancini was great with the mushroom taste but a little gritty without the cheese. Rosemary focaccia came like flatbread 😅 we thought it was pizza for a while. My only complaint is that we were chased out after 1.5h and we would have loved to stay longer!

So good! If you're looking for a nice pizza place in Newtown, this is a good bet. Their whole menu is vegan (but many meat eaters love it too) Currently they have an automated ordering system, make sure they give you a quick demo otherwise you'll be confused of why there are no menus. Drinks are a bit pricey for soft drink ($5 for 330mL) but pizzas are reasonably priced, from the low $20s to high $20s. Took some pizza for the ride home :)

My partner and I had the best food here! I am Italian and the pizza dough is on point! Even better than some pizzeria places back in Italy. We had the atlantico pizza with plant-based smoked salmon🤤, porcini mushrooms arancini, pizza regina and dessert...of course! We picked cannoli as I have been struggling with finding plant-based versions since becoming vegan. Very similar to the dairy ones and so good! Will definitely come back. The only downside is that prices are a bit to high.

Keen to give this establishment a go, we visited during the busy weekend lunch rush. We ordered a plate of arancini for entree, along with a ‘Regina’ and ‘Patate’ pizza to share. The arancini were perfectly fried balls of goodness, but the star of the show was definitely Gigi's famous wood-fired pizzas. We loved the velvety San Marzano tomato base, sweet pops of fresh tomatoes and creamy tree-nut ricotta on the Regina, and the decadent mix of potato and truffle on the Patate. The pizza bases were cooked to perfection, with crispy edges, paper thin centres and a lovely doughy flavour. We are pretty big meat-eaters, but truth be told we didn't miss the animal products one bit! It's worth mentioning that since Gigi doesn't use traditional cheese, they are quite heavy-handed with olive oil to make up for the missing creamy texture. This can mean that the pizzas are quite oily. We didn't mind the generous layer of olive oil on our pizzas, but it could be a bit overwhelming for those who are after a healthy meal. Pricewise, Gigi is on the higher end when it comes to pizza joints, but we think that is totally justified given the quality of the food here. We'll be back for more!

Being from Melbourne, I didn’t like any pizza places in Sydney until I found this place! The flavours and hospitality is unmatched! Had the chef special pizza of the day and gnocchi. They were both delicious! Can’t wait to be back.

This wasn’t my first vegan pizza rodeo, but it’s certainly the best. You’d have to go a long way to top Gigi’s pizzas - vegan or non-vegan. A great base topped with delicious ingredients, baked to perfection. The staff were welcoming & polite and Gigi’s proprietor was charming and lovely to chat with. If you like pizzas - and let’s face it, who doesn’t? - you should definitely visit Gigi Pizzeria.

Gigi is an Italian restaurant specializing in vegan pizza but also offering a couple of other dishes including pasta and antipasti. They have pizza and calzone with classic toppings/fillings as well as unconventional toppings/fillings featuring e.g. cauliflower, parsley, potato and radicchio. Overall, I really liked the pizza and wish there was a vegan pizzeria like this in my city! The pizza dough is thin and lightly crispy at the edges. Also the plant-based cheese was amazing - even my non-vegan friends enjoyed the pizza here! Service is somewhat automated: You order and pay in advance via an app. Staff will then bring the food and drinks to your table. Because this restaurant is quite popular, it is normally very crowded and you may need to stand in line to get a table!

A very busy and delicious pizzeria with impeccable service. There can be queues for this place on a Saturday night. The food is delicious and caters towards vegetarians and gluten free options as well. The dough was soft and the crust was crunchy and the toppings were fresh.

The best vegan Italian food we’ve found in Sydney. The only downside to eating here, is that it will ruin all other vegan Italian food for you from this point on, as nothing will quite live up to it. The oven baked pizzas, gnocchi and cannoli are all amazing dishes. The staff are always lovely and accomodating, and the venue itself is nice and cozy. Whenever we’re in Newtown and looking for a great meal, it’s hard to go wrong with Gigi Pizzeria!

Absolutely incredible vegan food. Been here multiple times and always enjoyed it. Great food, great price, great atmosphere. Would highly recommend ordering Regina, Chocolate Cannoli’s and a nice bottle of Rose. In saying that, ordering anything here is guaranteed to taste good. The whole menu is fantastic. P.S, we were here today and the hot bartender wasn’t on. Hopefully they just had their day off. We miss you!!!!

They aren’t kids friendly if you’re thinking to take the family out for dinner! They don’t have high chairs, but then complain about your kids running around. The manager was so rude he even tried to scare my boy. The food was good, but it’s not worth the the bad service!

Totally amazing pizzas despite them being vegan. I actually think the fact that they are vegan makes them better because the chefs look for other ways to flavour the pizzas besides cheese. It was incredibly loud and difficult I talk across the table but that’s the only negative. Would definitely come again!

What a delicious vegan feast!! The pizzas here are wonderful! The dough is light and crispy and so delicious when fresh from the oven! The Arancini were very tasty and the cannoli were amazing. Like, they tasted exactly like normal cannoli. They were great. My other favourite thing was the focaccia with garlic and rosemary. Need to try the pasta now but would definitely recommend.

Experience begins with a long entry queue followed by a lively aura and loud music. Staff is really friendly, tries to cater to customer's needs at the soonest; wait-times are pretty reasonable. Taste of the food is on the milder side; wish the portion size could be bigger as per the price spectrum.

The pizzas here are amazing!! The dough is so soft and cooked for the perfect amount of time (avoiding those overcooked burnt bits). Loved my potato pizza with rosemary and truffle oil! This place starts to fill up by 7pm and they don't take bookings. Also have the QR code to order yourself from the table which makes things easy. The lady who seated our table was lovely!

A very vast vegan menu, perfect for those with dietary requirements! The starters we had were amazing!! Gnocchi is also very well made, a must try but the sauces were not so much my ‘personal taste’! I personally wouldn’t recommend the tiramisu, it was very stiff and dry. Overall, great service and good ambience although music is quite loud, so we had to semi-shout to converse.

THE BEST authentic Italian vegan place I have ever been too. I’ve been here 4 or 5 times and they have never disappointed. I’ve ordered the pizza, calzone and cannelloni. I promise you they do not disappoint!! Staff are friendly and you know this place is good when there’s a line outside the restaurant

Amazing vegan Italian in the heart of newtown. Everything was so tasty. You order from an app straight to the table and the food came out very fast. Walk ins only. It gets very busy but there’s a constant flow of people coming and going. We thought the garlic bread was in a basket (couple of slices) and not a full pizza. So we were quite full, but only left a small amount of leftovers. Next time I would share a pizza with someone with either the garlic bread or a pasta dish. Looking forward to coming back!

We've been trying to get to Gigi's for years and we're not disappointed! It was delicious we had the almond encrusted croquettes and the Regian pizza. As a vegan you seldom get to eat really good simple pizza with good tomatoes sauce and creamy cheese. Just oh my good.

Amazing quality pizza and great customer service. Second pic is the gluten free pizza and it’s folded to make it crispy, the bread is a really good gluten free one. The first pic is the spinach, cauliflower one that was great.

Amazing vegan pizza and great wine, however the experience was ruined by the rude waitress. Maybe she was having a bad day but she didn’t explain how the contactless menu worked and we just had to figure it out for ourselves, she treated us like we were bothering her. The other staff made up for it though with their friendliness.

Great experience! No wonder why there are always a queue in the front, but don't panic, it goes very fast (about 15 mins) and it totally worth it! Be gone meat lovers as this place is only plant based but again don't let this repulse you as everything taste amazing (i would add a bit of salt and pepper but this is my humble opinion). Service is lightning fast thanks to this little device on the table where you access the menu, place your order and pay contactless (yes you need a smartphone but I am sure you have one ;) ). Pizzas arrived in literally 5-10 min max. Staff is friendly and helpful even if you feel a bit rushed as people are waiting outside for your spot and your plate is quickly taken out as soon as you finish (reason of the missing ?). You have to try this place at least once as they are really quality pizza and the decoration is nice!

Went amidst the pandemic. They had an amazing waiter-less ordering method with digital payments which was great. The food came out at good pace though like someone staggered it nicely. The only thing I wasn’t aware of was that it is vegan. I was certainly looking forward to traditional Neapolitan pizza and sadly the vegan version doesn’t deliver on the full flavour. I’m sure it’s a vegan’s paradise but it didn’t meet my expectations. Still a solid venue though and will recommend to my vegan friends.

I ordered online a couple of pizzas for pickup. They were on time just when we arrived. I heard so many good things about gigi so I was expecting a decent pizza. Not the case. The regina pizza was more like a tomato soup on a flat bread, soggy as a wet cloth, we needed a spoon to eat it. The other pizza was the supreme, slightly better but the dough was also super soggy. I rolled the slices and ate them as tacos. Anyway, the only reason I am rating this place 3 stars and not 2 is because the flavours were really nice. In my humble and unsolicited opinion as a guy who have eaten pizza around the world for the last 30 years or so, you shouldn’t need a spoon to eat a pizza.

This is how pizza should be. Vegan pizza is the future. You may have to line up outside for a while but it is worth the wait. I have never had a bad meal here and the Patate (potato and truffle pizza) is the only thing you need in your life. Recommend to anyone and everyone.

Amazing food and drinks, we really enjoyed our night out. Pizza is really light, the ingredients are fresh and super tasty. Make sure to try the schiacciata, it's something that only few restaurants make. About the desert, tiramisu super soft and tasty, it reminded me my mum tiramisù, so good!!!
