MANMARU was recommend by my AirBnb host, it seems to have a good reputation with the locals. It's a small restaurant, there's maybe space for 2 dozen people, and not much more. There were 4 specials on a blackboard, and the menu itself was handwritten with 2 mains and 2 entrees, so all in all quite a small menu, but the menu changes based on season and produce availability. The drinks menu was quite a bit larger. I was told that most of the fish was purchased from the fish market that morning. I ordered the dumplings entree, and the chicken main dish. The dumplings plate was a bit small for the price, but the chicken main was generous. Pricing very reasonable as well. Delicious food overall. Will come back for sure.

My friends and I hosted a surprise birthday dinner here, and it's the cutest place. Love the decor, and the relaxed atmosphere! The staff are incredibly friendly and professional; they understand the menu and make modifications/recommendations, according to the guests' preferences. And when the food arrived, it was DELICIOUS! Made fresh with a great selection. Our group ordered almost the entire menu of Japanese tapas, and then ordered our favourite dishes again. The cocktails were adorable with their own origami decorations, and were well balanced in their flavours. The staff were very helpful with bringing out our birthday cake, and coordinating the birthday surprise. And at the end of the night, they generously gave us the last sushi rolls for free!! I am definitely coming back here :)) Thank you for the amazing night, Manmaru! Five stars!!

I feel Like the words plain and simple apply to this place. The place makes me think this place should be in Newtown. It’s small but I love what they did with the interior despite the size. Food wise the options are limited but I feel like I’m eating healthy. Shiitake dumpling didn’t have as much taste as I was hoping for and the korokke bento was small but nice. They have been operating 3 years I had no idea! Shows how much I know about Dulwich hill!

What a beautiful and cute little place! Their dishes are very fresh and creative. I chose the specials on the board which was a yummy potato salad with pomegranate, and a flathead sashimi salad dish. The lovely owner was telling me how she just went to the fish Market that morning. Very fresh indeed!

I really enjoyed the food here! I got the kinoko plate which was absolutely delicious. The miso mushroom and turmeric rice were definitely highlights of the dish. The dukka topping also really stood out with the beetroot hummus. I love a good local cafe with adequate veg options but still caters for omnis. I like food.

Thrilled to find vegan Japanese food! Although there weren't many options. The dishes were amazing! Good balance of taste and creativity. The korroke was our favorite!

Plenty of vegan options and they are happy to alter menu to suit kids taste buds. Lovely food, friendly service, lots of art touches. Way beyond average Japanese food.

Nice quaint place for dinner. Japanese fusion. Had mochi dumplings, potato and corn korokke, sushi inari and salmon rice(not pictured) Overall food was good. It's definitely a different vibe than what you would expect.

Food was so great! And so refreshing to have great vegetarian options (it seems the menu is mostly vegetarian?) Couldn't get enough of the soba noodles and mushroom dumplings. Wasn't a huge fan of the mochi dumplings but that's just my personal taste. Lovely staff too. Really accommodating considering we were in a big hurry. Definitely will visit again!

One of the best hidden dinner-spots in Dully. We get the salmon balls bento box. Always great.

amazing japanese, they only serve plant based or fresh seafood which the owner/waitress told us was fresh from the markets the morning on the day we ate there. Both bento options we tried were delicious and such good value. love this place!
