Found this hidden gem in the middle of Marrickville and I am already so looking forward to eat there again! The top three things about this restaurant: super tasty, large portion and very affordable! Simply ask for the popular dishes and anything they recommended won’t disappoint! The coconut drink/juice is pretty unique as well, has a hint of vanilla in it, a must try as well!

Authentic Vietnamese food at very reasonable prices. The original store is characterised by diners sitting on milk crates, recreating street stores in Vietnam. They have now taken over the store next door which has 'normal' seating. The food tastes great! Our favourite is the Pan Fried Pho (very unique!). We will definitely be back again!

The go to seems to be the Bun Cha, a Hanoi classic of seasoned pork patties and caramelised pork belly slices are served in a broth alongside rice noodles, fresh vegetables and herbs. The idea is to get a bit of everything and dip it in the broth. It seems messy at first but once you get the hang of it, the experience is rewarding. We also ordered the Bún Riêu, a Vietnamese rice noodle soup with a stock base of tomatoes thats slightly acidic but rich at the same time along with star of the dish, the crab paddies/balls/cakes - minced crab meat essentially. This was by far the standout dish for me as there was an explosion of fresh crab flavour with every bite unlike any other crab cake I have had before. Nothing can replicate this except for fresh crab and little did I expect it to come from such a humble dish 10/10! Will be back to try the other traditional dishes on offer!

Terrific food that comes very quickly! Delicious with wonderful flavours. I could eat anything on their menu and would love it. Their pho broth is delicious, their rice vermicelli dishes are amazing, and their sticky rice dishes are scrumptious. I would also recommend getting their dessert drinks, particularly the 3 colours dessert - so great!

Delicious, generous serving size & wallet friendly casual Vietnamese eatery. Recommend No.34 (Slippery Rice Noodle Roll Cake with Pork Mince). Was lucky to get the last serve of the day! They also have Viet dessert options for under $10.

Fresh Vietnamese cuisine with a street vibe. Reasonable price and great service. Very busy but fast service. Enjoyed the food and dessert will be back for more. Third time and it's still the best Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney 👍

I understand why this place has more than 1,000 reviews. Great food - reasonably priced. There were many people lined up for take away and dine in. I will be visiting again!

Favourite place for authentic bun cha. Not only delicious but well priced as well. Those little chairs for outdoor seating reminds me of trip to vietnam! Very much worth waiting in line.

Delicious authentic Vietnamese food. The meat ball with vermicelli was outstanding. Order and pay at counter and you have the option to sit next door. Friendly and prompt service.

My favourite must go to restaurant when I visit Marrickville. Food is always fresh and delicious. Flavours are authentic and the prices are wallet friendly. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something Vietnamese that is not Pho

This place never disappoints. I can't speak to it's authenticity but boy is it good, tasty, homely food. Last time we were there, we tried the Stewed Pork with Egg and Glutinous Rice. The meat was tender, had a good balance of lean and fat and the fried boiled egg was marinated in the same sauce as the pork. Worked super well with the fragrant and sweet glutinous rice. The meat was generous, and meal was filling - great value for $14.50 Seating is limited and generally there is a short wait to get a seat on the weekend, however weekdays it's much easier.

The food here was phenomenal! I’m still thinking about my black pepper salmon even after 3 weeks 🤤 The dishes has authentic Vietnamese flavour and it made me feel very nostalgic of my childhood and of Vietnam. I love all the options they offer and my friend was very impressed with her meal too. The chilli we got on the side was proper spicy chillies too! This will definitely be my new go-to for Vietnamese food in Sydney. Well priced, lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Parking is not the best because Marrickville is always busy but well worth the visit.

The food here was pretty good especially the first pictured dish that I’ve forgotten the name of. It was flavorful. However the pho and spring rolls were just alright. Not bad but not food items I feel like I would need to order again. The drinks were a bit disappointing as they came so late in our meal and the avocado shake either was really watered down or they weren’t ripe yet (judge by the coloring). Overall the food is good enough for me to still give four stars as I do believe the service to be adequate.

We ordered bun Thit nuong and bento for dinner for 2 of us . Price is reasonable and portion is good size . Service was quick and good . We sat in bigger dining area and it keeps us warm in this very cold weather . I will not be able to sit in the other outdoor seating given the outdoor temperature but I am very glad they have the second shop with bigger seating than the original shop .

Went in blind as the original place I was heading was closed and damn, it did not disappoint. Great food, flavourful, rich and filling while also being super cheap. Can't for the life of me remember what I ordered but I will be back.

Ridiculously value for money for such outstanding food! The large crowds speak for themselves and it's easy to see why this is such a popular place. Authentic and flavoursome Vietnamese restaurant, which I will certainly be visiting again!

Called the restaurant and the lady couldn’t speak English to answer my questions and just hung up on me. The food was good just a shame the service isn’t great.

August '23: Visited on a Saturday evening and found this place packed. There were lots of menus available at the counter. The idea is you order, they give you a number and then they'll bring your food to your table. Order: - Bun bo xao ($14.50) - stir fried beef with vermicelli salad. Very tasty and filling. I added soy sauce and crushed chilli to give it that kick. - Mi ga da gion ($16.50) - crispy chicken noodle soup. Absolutely delicious. - Vegetarian dumplings - pretty good, but $7.50 for a plate of 3 dumplings...? That's not cheap. Overall, the food was good. The place has a very chill, hawker establishment vibe. With current inflation, you really can't do much better. Staff are very polite and hard working (you can see they're busy, moving around all the time). Would return again because the food was cooked well and arrived pretty quickly. Stay blessed y'all 🙏

The reviews and the lines for this place are justified! The food is simply delicious. Full of flavour and the prices are insanely cheap! This is a must try in Marrickville. Easily my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in the area.

Quite a busy restaurant, which is always a good sign as to price and food quality. Staff were struggling with the load, but it was a minor inconvenience. Great variety of menu choices, and enough to completely satisfy our appetites.

Not the best customer service but really good food. We had the combo meal and I managed to find a vegetarian option, with some tofu stuffed with mushrooms.the soups were okay, very simple, but the fried rice was excellent and absolutely loved the pickel eggplants (the little round white balls).

Great friendly place to go to for a delicious, fresh meal. Prices are reasonable limited seating but still works. Wish there was more on the plate and could help with some pictures of each meal to help those new to dining there. But still would go back again.

Feel like you are in Vietnam, Whenever I go here, always feeling happy to have food here. Never changed taste. Compare to past few years price has been gone up but it seems reasonable these days. They extended restaurant so no need to wait for the long queue. Always served big portions, feel so full easily but couldn't stop eating Highly recommend to visit here if you really miss Vietnamese food

This place makes the best bun Cha! It was our first time trying it and wow! It blew our mind how delicious and flavoursome the dish is. We will be coming back to try their other dishes!! But highly recommend to try their bun Cha dish!

Ordered the 5 in 1 mealbox which comprised of grilled lemongrass pork, rice, stir fried cabbage, mustard pickle & choy sum soup. Tasty but found the meat all fat and too oily to my liking. Watching what others around me had ordered showed the menu has alot to offer.

A great restaurant to try Northern Vietnamese Food in Sydney. I could find many kind of dishes here, most of them are tasty and reasonable price. I think it is the best place to try Bun Cha in Sydney, I had it many times here and was never disappointed. On the opposite, the restaurant is quite small and usually busy, it is also hard to find a parking around here.

  • 4/5 Tom R. 3 years ago on Google
Very popular and busy Vietnamese restaurant. Simple decor and authentic food. Don't expect happy friendly staff here. I am guessing that they are too busy getting the food ready to smile or speak to customers.

Great bun cha! Very authentic! Very filling!

  • 5/5 Hieu D. 3 years ago on Google
The foods are super delicious. I’m an original Vietnamese but to be honest I’m amazed by the food here and visit it at least 3-4 times/week. 99% similar to the dishes in Hanoi, Vietnam. Must-try is bun-cha. Prices range from $11 to $14 per person. Affordable yet high quality. Highly recommended.

This place is the bomb! The food is fantastic! The food comes out slow, who cares when’s its cooked so well, they can take all the time in the world! Get a side of extra pork, you’re welcome ;)

Delicious, and a chart topper for Marrickville’s cheap eats. The lemongrass pork balls were especially delicious - full of flavour and very juicy

Awesome spot in Marrickville for tasty fuss-free north Vietnamese food. They're legit. Big menu but the snail noodle soup and bo la lot and bun cha was authentic and has always won over friends and family

I’ll be back for sure! The food was great - we ordered the pho and banh cuon and both were fresh, flavourful and served in good portions. I think next time I’ll get the bun cha. I also recommend the avocado freezer drink, which I think was distinct from others I’ve had because it was made with coconut water as opposed to condensed milk (which can get a bit sickening) I particularly liked the outdoor seating which was really lovely in the afternoon Lines looked like they got a bit long at night though, so try to go during non peak hour

  • 5/5 Precisepix 3 years ago on Google
Words can not explain how delicious this is, but I’ll try. So much fragrant, fresh and just pure deliciousness with chargrill pork in a sweet/savoury broth flavours... What ever it’s amazing!

  • 2/5 Pringles C. 3 years ago on Google
Food was alright, portion was medium size, price was okay, service was okay, but the environment is minus 1 star, i know its kind of street food style but seriously siting on the milk crate on the street walk path really makes my lower back pain like hell. and lots of mosquito around especially during summer.

Had the vermicelli with pork, pork intestines and a few other dishes. When you think of vietnamese food. If banhmi and pho is the first thing that comes to mind, then you are really missing out. No reservations however there usually is a queue so be prepared to wait. Atmosphere really brings u to the streets of vietnam Food was a solid 10/10. Simple, tasty, and affordable just like how asian foods steeet food should be served. Definitely worth the travel and wait. Would highly recommend and return.

  • 5/5 Su Fern B. 3 years ago on Google
Authentic Vietnamese food and affordable price. Their famous Bun Cha, rice noodles served with a bowl of pork in rich broth and fresh herbs. It’s only $11.50 for this bowl of goodness, it can be pretty long wait especially during the weekend. But it’s worth the try!
