My first time having a Bahn xeo and it was monstrous and delicious. Clams were always tender and saucy (wish the serving was bigger!). Modern take on the classics, lovely seating and service, which is reflected in the higher than average price but it was worth it! Would return on a special occasion!

What can I say… other than photastic! Being here on several occasions. The staff a very friendly and attentive. The food is always too notch. For the me the menu is little exciting and fresh to other Vietnamese experiences

Disappointed :( the food was a miss The banh xeo was the best thing that I tried in comparison to the other dishes, but it wasn’t that great, could’ve used more filling Service was decent. The music was good though!

I'm so damn full... The food is simple but damn tasty. Rice, pork joule and pancake were definite highlights... Great atmosphere and ambience. Service was quick and friendly... Will definitely be returning soon...

Really delicious (photos aren’t the best) & a good variety. $85 a head for 10 different dishes to share. My favourite was probably the bahn xeo, prawns or beef tartare. A few modern twists on some of the dishes is a nice touch. The dessert, described as a Vietnamese tiramisu was incredible. I usually don’t like most restaurants’ desserts as they feel like “me too” dishes but that isn’t the case here. Worth a visit & the staff are very friendly without being in your face.

Located in the heart of Marrickville, Hello Auntie is a modern fusion Vietnamese restaurant with a extensive variety of dishes. Their food captures authentic Vietnamese flavours with a twist. Interior is nice and food came out pretty quickly. If you want something small, I’d recommend the pho or other noodle dishes. If you’re there with a group their set banquets are great value, allowing you to try a variety of dishes. Other great dishes to share are the banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake) or goi cuon (rice paper rolls). The fried chicken this time had a bit too much cumin seasoning and was overpowering. It was also quite difficult to get the waiters attention. Overall it’s a good dining experience and lots of dishes to try.

Fusion food that’s still in the comfort zone. The pho broth was tasted very original but the chef might have been too generous with the cumin that day for the fried chicken. Staffs were hard to reach.

Vietnamese is my favourite cuisine and this little gem in Marrickville certainly done it justice this evening. We were on some time constraints and were running late to reservation due to traffic however the restaurant made sure we were sorted and looked after us well. Given how busy they were we were very appreciative. Tucked down the back of the restaurant it was a great location and lovely decor although a little cramped in space with the amount of tables. Definitely no privacy in conversation. The staff were accommodating and helpful and the food was delicious. My wife had Pho which she had never tried before and loved. And I tried the Vietnamese Crepe with Pork and Prawn which was also delicious. Very fresh ingredients.

Food, service and atmosphere are great! Only down side is the price. For Vietnamese food, you’re paying a lot. However, this restaurant is trying to be Vietnamese fusion, hence the price tag.

Average taste for the price tag. The pork was nice, reminded me of Vietnam but quite light to have with rice, no sauce included. The carrot pickle tasted of sugar and vinegar. Banh xeo was also good but no sauce/ nuoc cham. We had to ask 3 different staff for the sauce, it was like they forgot about it or it was not their job to provide the sauce. The banh xeo was cold by the time we got the sauce. We were not done yet with the food and the staff wanted to clear out the plates. I asked her what she was doing, she said clearing the table, I said the food was still on the plates, clearly you could see it. Then she left. I believe the service could be better.

The pressure that wait staff place on diners to move on and be quick about the meal, is a real downer. It ruins what would otherwise be a pleasant experience.

I went here on a double date, catching up with some friends. The food was okay, but the price, for it was just honestly double the price than expected for the quality and the size of the food. The service was a little chaotic which I understand and don’t judge them for it though. Don’t get the lamb, it’s tiny and tastes average. The octopus salad though is actually amazing and decent price with a good serving size. Highly recommend

Came in with no expectations and my word, the food was absolutely delicious. Vietnamese food taken to the next level by elevating key Ingredients in each dish. A fancy take on classic Vietnamese dishes. I need to come back again to try other dishes as I just couldn't eat anymore.

I absolutely adore the care and love given into this restaurant. The food is superb- high quality products carefully selected and chosen to give true gastronomic delight. The value for money, the authenticity of the delightful dishes and service makes this an absolute 5 star (should be 6) dining experience. I will come back again and again!

The customer service was good ;) The food was okay, very fusion...the beef wagyu and the flat noodles was not as good as expected, and missing Vietnamese flavors but the xo sauce king prawn noodles were nice. The thin noodle was really nice and fancy. It was filling, shame that I didn't get to try the dessert since I was already fulled, but worth giving a try!! :)

Price: 1/5 Food: 3/5 Overall: 2/5 If you read the negative reviews I 100% agree. It is average Vietnamese but comes at a premium price for no reason. We had the braised beef with egg noodle ($33) it had the same flavours as braised noodles in Chinatown for $15. The rice paper plate was the same as any other Ive had but came in at $65. Service was pretty average as well, I ordered a coke and it was full of ice so I ordered a second one but with no ice and they half filled the glass (see pic). I don't mind paying a premium for solid Asian food (Mr Wongs, Spice Temple, Sake) but this isn't it. I will not be back.

Was pretty excited to go here but experience overall was just average. Ambience was ok but for a quiet night we were rushed from the get-go. Bit more modern Vietnamese rather than traditional but was somewhat disappointing and the service was even worse. Hovering over our table the entire night ready to take plates before we had even finished and then ushered out well before close time. Nope

Very underwhelming. We ordered the banquet and when asked for dietary requirements, I was told the entire table would have to eat what I ate, so I chose to go along with it and skip that particular dish. None of the dishes were standouts and I felt very disappointed in our choice. Would not recommend

Delicious food and great service. A bit noisy and just a shade expensive, but that won't stop us from returning (after we've saved up a bit!) The staff are very Covid-19 conscious (lots of sanitiser and you scan a qr code to look at the menu on your phone so you're not touching anything other diners have already fingered) and so I'd recommend this as a safe place to dine right now. Definitely recommended if you don't mind spending about $60 a head (including maybe 2 wines or beers each).

We dined here for a birthday dinner in attendance with our 11 month old baby. At first hesitant dining with a baby - However the staff were so lovely and accomodating. High chair set up and was able to take her order / food come out first so we had a satisfied toddler. We ordered the $65 banquet and some cocktails which was the best choice ever! Food was so tasty and well put together was a hit with our group! Definitely coming back to this local again. Enjoyed our meals and great service from all the friendly staff. The Happy Birthday singing with dessert was a nice touch ! Thanks again

We absolutely LOVED every bite of our meal. Nothing was too salty, sweet or spicy, the serving sizes were just perfect. There were 5 hungry ladies, and we ordered the Eggplant starter, Beef Tartare, Truffle Fried Rice, Lamb Ribs, Prawn XO Noodles and the Miso Noodles. Everything was exceptional - highlight for me was the Prawn XO Noodles! Thank you Aunties - we'll definitely be back!

This modernised Vietnamese food in Marrickvielle comes with a supreme price tag. However, this place seems like a favourite as it was a full house during dinner. Service was top notch, warm, friendly and prompt. Food was great too, worth a try!

Lovely venue with decent food. A little on the pricier end for pho but worth it for how much fried chicken you get. Overall a really nice restaurant for a slightly fancier take on Vietnamese food.

  • 1/5 James Z. 1 year ago on Google
Very average food at a huge price tag for what you get in terms of both taste and quantity. The only positive is the space and ambience. But what really puts me off are the dirty plates and bowls, and the bean sprouts for my pho is not fresh, even after returning the first plate.

Came in as a group of 6 with no booking and was easily accommodated as the restaurant slowly filled up. The food here is slightly exxy but the experience with friends was priceless. Service here was great with wait staff refilling water constantly without prompting and food portions being ample and dishes were well seasoned. The pate starter was out of this world with an interesting twist! Would highly recommend!!

  • 4/5 Riley L. 1 year ago on Google
Had the bun xeo, prawn noodles, jewelled rice, vermicelli noodles with chicken and rice paper rolls. Rice paper rolls were nice, bun xeo was ok (standard flavour and quality anywhere else), the jewelled rice was ok, nice flavours and the vermicelli noodles was pretty average. No real taste except for the nuoc mam. Great presentation of food, however if I am to be honest the food is pretty average and comparable to all other Viet restaurants serving the same dishes.

Pate bread was delicious. Ga mi chien wasn't anything spectacular and so is the bun bo hue kho. However it was a nice twist from your usual traditional Viet food.

Always a fantastic lunch at Hello Auntie. Highly recommend the Banh Xeo. Only small critique is that the portions have shrunk over the years and the prices have gone up, but the flavours are still there. Will always happily return.

Hello Auntie is well-known among non-Vietnamese diners. The restaurant focuses more on providing an aesthetic vibe, well-presented food, and friendly service. But the food is the Western version of Vietnamese cuisine, unfortunately lack of flavour, and pricey. Banh xeo - 3/5 Squid salad - 2.5/5 - papaya was tough Bbq pork - 3/5

My Vietnamese family and I recently embarked on a culinary adventure, venturing into the vibrant world of a modern Vietnamese restaurant. The experience far exceeded expectations, introducing us to a array of new flavors and unexpected combinations. We were particularly surprised by the inventive desserts, which offered a refreshing twist on classic Vietnamese sweets. But the true highlight was the culinary artistry displayed in their reinvention of traditional dishes. Familiar favorites were presented with a modern twist, showcasing innovative techniques and fresh perspectives. The interplay of flavors was masterful, each bite a symphony of sweet, savory, and subtle heat. Overall, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The restaurant provided a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a memorable dining experience with loved ones. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and left feeling pleasantly surprised and eager to return for another round of culinary exploration

Tried the truffle menu cause I’m a sucker for truffle. The truffle pasta was okay- a little thick for my liking. But the beef tartare a must try! I could see why it’s a popular dish as recommended by the staff. Interesting upscale viet twist.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and it did not disappoint. I ordered the vermicelli and was very impressed with how fresh and delicious the was. This is the first time that we have actually dined in the restaurant. We have had takeaway from here on a number of occasions. The dining in experience is outstanding. Hello Auntie is our go to Vietnamese restaurant - and we have to travel from Rozelle to enjoy the experience. Service was excellent and the freshness of the food was outstanding - well done Auntie.

Always come here craving their wagyu dishes! The food, service and atmosphere are amazing, would not hesitate to continually recommend them as our go-to restaurant in Marrickville (or Darling Square now too). My other favourite dish would have to be their red prawn noodles... mmmm..

Fantastic Vietnamese spot that stands out in a row of other joints of similar cuisine. This place has great presentation on the plate and yummy cocktails. We had the tartare with shaved truffle and a couple bowls of delicious pho. Will definitely be returning.

We had a really lovely meal at Hello Auntie on Saturday night. Although it was very busy, we felt the service was very attentive and the food was exquisite. The highlight was definitely the BANH XEO (crepe - we had pork) which seems to be their signature dish and enjoyed by most patrons. We unfortunately didn't have room for a few other dishes which caught our eye or dessert but we'll be back.

This restaurant is disgusting. Even I booked it they put me to table next to the door which was very noisy from the street then I asked to changed then they changed inside. The food is just average and nothing special but price is very expensive. I ordered rice paper roll menu which is$65.00 one. First of all, the chicken came out with uncooked then they changed but still uncooked so it doesn't bother me to ask them changed it again. Secondly beef was nearly uncooked as well. The manager of this restaurant said that they normally provide medium rare but I can't chew. Therefore I asked them what they can do and they just give $15.00 off. This restaurant ruin my lunch. I will never ever go this restaurant again. I absolutely don't recommend this restaurant.

We went here as a big group and had the feed me Auntie banquet which we were all really impressed with. The food was really good and the serving sizes were very generous. One thing I will say though is that we didn't have the option to choose the dessert for the banquet and had a dessert which had Vietnamese ice coffee jelly in it. I personally don't drink coffee and some my friends don't either so we didn't enjoy the dessert at all. Although the food was great, we were let down by the dessert based on our personal preference. I would definitely come back though as we were really impressed with the food.

  • 2/5 Tom W. 3 years ago on Google
The first time we came here a year ago, it was awesome. This time it feels like things have gone downhill quite a lot for this restaurant. Overall the food quality was just ok. Not bad, but no dish was any better than decent. But the real issue was the price. We ordered the $60 per head banquet menu for 5 people. But the dishes that came out were regular sized dishes for one person. So for example the prawn toast that was meant to be shared by five people was a single slice of bread. It would have been far cheaper to order the dishes from the menu a-la-carte. They also advertise a lot of dishes as gluten free, but for some dishes they accidentally made the glutenous versions despite our request for gf.

My favourite vietnamese restaurant, though it is on a pricer side. My go to is the Banh xeo. However my favourite is Banh Khot (sadly not part of the menu anymore -please bring it back!). Though walk in welcomed, highly recommend to book first. Limited range of food, food range of drinks. Always excellent service.
