Sashimi: Fresh and big Sushi: They are freshly made. The sushi rice was good. The proportion of the rice and sashimi was good. Their salmon roe was so good, the fish eggs are big. This is one of the best Japanese restaurant in the area that I would recommend to visit for sushi and sashimi.

A Japanese resturant opens by Japanese. Taste is good and very close to what I had in Japan. Portion wise is just all right, if you want to get full, you definitely need to order side dishes. Value wise is reasonable.

I just came here to get ordinary sushi and was blown away! I ordered the mini-rolls (6 pieces) four times; cucumber, avocado, cooked tuna and salmon. I expected "boring" sushi but even the small rolls are bigger than most small rolls, which was great! They also give a lot extra (pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce)! The soy sauce probably wouldn't be enough for most people but I prefer a small amount of soy sauce, so it was perfect! They also didn't skimp on filling, the rice was perfectly cooked and the seaweed tasted great! It's a rather small shop with a great atmosphere and really nice personnel! The prices are really reasonable! Best sushi I have had here in Sydney! --> Total recommendation!

A great Japanese restaurant with consistently great food. I've been coming here for years and will continue to. Some of my favourites include the udon, pork shogayaki, tempura/karaage and the hamburg don. I personally don't order sushi because I prefer hot meals but have heard good things about the sushi here as well.

Our local Japanese restaurant. They do delicious sushi and rice dishes. My favourite is their bento box with everything and unagi. I also love their specials including one at the moment which is the soy milk udon - such a unique dish with lots of flavour. We also got the wasabi greens and this was also say great and a dish we've never had before at any other Japanese restaurant. The service is always good and we eat there every few weeks.

A lovely and cozy Japanese restaurant in marrickville. Came across this place by accident and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service they provided. Everything was extremely tasty and well done, and the portions were spot on as well. Will be coming back for sure, can't wait to try other times in the menu. 👍

Good overall experience. I think this is a family owned restaurant therefore staffing is a bit of an issue. There were two guys cooking in the kitchen and one girl for table service and cashier. Food quality is great and portion sizes were generous too. Food is cooked to order therefore tasted fresh and delicious. Highlight was the spicy sashimi rice bowl - plenty of toppings and the spicy sauce had just the right amount of heat, tangy and salty. There’s a required amount for card payments - I can’t remember exactly if it’s $10 or $20. No card surcharges is another bonus.

Cosy shop with great Japanese decor. Fast service and the food comes out quickly. The chicken curry dish was exactly how I expected it, udon noodles were tasty and the Japanese pancake was delicious. Total cost around $44, I will come back to try other dishes.

This little hidden gem in the inner west serves pretty authetic, tasty Japanese food. The sashimi is fresh. The okonomiyaki is super tasty and I'll recommend the soyabean soup with udon noodles . This place has very good service, and good food to boot

I've eaten at Sakae maybe 50 times...they have the best bento boxes in the inner west, and I've tired quite a few around here now...service is excellent.

Pretty good and fresh sushi!

I have eaten at Sakae for over five years and the quality of food is consistently great. Their salmon dishes have a wonderful texture to them and there is a good variety of mains and entrees. I recommend their salmon in any form, hamburger don, and curry dishes. Visit them whenever you find yourself hankering for Japanese cuisine or a generally healthy lunch/dinner.

The sushi here is really fresh and the staff are friendly. Love finding an authentic Japanese restaurant in the inner west. It's a shame that Covid has ruined many dining experiences as we were reminded our hour was approaching. Despite this, still worthy of 4 stars.
