😠 Racists!!!! My partner (a tall white Jewish man) always gets harassed here. He has his bags searched, or told he can't have vegetables, or other terrible things nearly every single time. I don't know why they do this. They have signs everywhere denouncing racism. But apparently they think this means... People often mention people, volunteers, staff, time, bread, shop, friendly,

Racists!!!! My partner (a tall white Jewish man) always gets harassed here. He has his bags searched, or told he can't have vegetables, or other terrible things nearly every single time. I don't know why they do this. They have signs everywhere denouncing racism. But apparently they think this means allowing nearly anyone to walk in with a comparatively large shopping bag or purse, but making my friend -- who is a non-Australian man, and big, strong, and Jewish -- feel uncomfortable and under constant surveillance. Some would call this "reverse racism," but it isn't. It is just plain racism. It isn't even picking a new target. They are picking the same target that Nazis and others have picked for thousands of years. Instead of simply helping people, they only serve "some" people who fit their preferred profile.

what an incredible community service and such lovely volunteers. i envision a future where initiatives like addi road pantry are a norm in every community β€” collectively helping to reduce the insane amounts of food waste our culture produces, and assisting to ease the cost of living for people from all walks of life. my gratitude runs deep for your work, addi road! thank you!

I've seen them hassle the same nice guy for no reason other than what he looks like on two different occassions. Not cool.

Truly like the notion of supporting Food Pantry on the mission of saving food waste and providing affordable food accessible to all. However, I have been disappointed lately by the way prices are indiscriminately charged. Last week, a two litre Devonshire carton of milk charged $5, there for paying $2.50 for two 2 litre cartons. This is not the first time, nor is it the second. There should be more clarity on pricing but I always thought, it goes to a good cause but I walk away feeling cheated.

The Addi Road, food pantry was a pleasent experience. Arriving there it was absolutely bucketting down so the dash from the Carpark to the entrance of the store was quick. On arrival you are greeted very warmly from the volunteers as you grab a basket and start your little shopping adventure. There is a wide range of products to choose from and everything is discounted a lot to help those who are in need. After paying for t h e shopping you walk outside where you

Am biased as have been going there since Apr 2018. Now volunteer there and it's better all the time. Got me more fruit and those lovely loaves of bread! For free! Just spend $5 minimum. Of course people do really big shop, most over $5. Btw $5= 10 points at Food Pantry which gets you e.g. 6 eggs (3 pts), big packet of 5 noodles (5 pts), uht milk (2 pt) for 1litre plus the free fruit and root veges and bakery bread worth another $15-$20! And there's Vegas Monday!

I've started going to the Camperdown pantry, the staff there are so much more warm, friendly and non-judgemental. Some of the awful volunteers at the Marrickville pantry give you no autonomy to pick (or point to..) your own fruit and vegetables which is so dehumanising and insulting. I just want to pick an apple that isn't near decaying and bruised all over, that should be a right since I am a paying customer after all, and these are donated foods... I've only come across the owner twice and each time he has come across hostile, rude and judgemental, not at all in line with the type of generous, kind and welcoming people I would expect to be running such an organisation. Same goes for some of the cranky old volunteers at Marrickville. Props to the Camperdown volunteers for always being such kind people. The kind of people you imagine who really want to help the community. The pantry options are fine same as Camperdown, the 2 stars are just for that.

I really like going there. One thing that I dislike is that most of the products are expired, I got a couple that had expired 6 months ago. In a overall very good.

The volunteers so incredibly kind and thoughtful helpful and doing such a fantastic job so thank you! As a result of Covid Lockdown found myself here to shop for my ageing dogs and myself. from the first moment inside the volunteers were helpful and thoughtful making the experience for myself easy and comfortable guiding me through the point system and a step by step tour of what was available to purchase. A large range of dinners to meats and vegetables canned goods bread and drink to fresh bakery goods. totalling 25$ I felt the shop was well worth over 100$ maybe more! It’s also helping others who help you so I’m heading there again to stock up give to others who need and to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and plenty of parking!!! see you there!

No words describe the level of gratitude I feel for the kind people who work at the Addison Rd Food Pantry & companies who donate food & groceries. You have kept my 2 dogs & me alive & healthy during our unexpected time of hardship when family abandoned us & some β€œso-called-friends” let us down . Thank goodness for the kindness of stranger. We will never forget your unconditional compassion & encouragement. I will pay forward. Thank you.

The staff are lovely but my son and I received off food that was expired for two years and all the fruit and bread went mouldy the next day and we needed it for school, it was quite disappointing. Other than that customer service was πŸ‘

I love going to this place when money is tight. I recieved 2 bags of groceries; milk, bread, meat & veges all for $25 ( I estimate it would have cost between $50-$70 at the supermarket). Most of the stuff is coming up to bb/date, however some has months left to go. Plus the beauty of The Food Pantry is, the people there are super friendly & it saves all this food ending up in landfill. Worthy of a visit if you're a little cash strapped.

An amazing opportunity to purchase groceries at a very reduced price and aids in helping reduce food waste from the larger supermarket organisation. A win-win for everyone!
