The grounds itself are lovely. I visited today as I haven't been for a while. It was very crowded. Lots of greenery which is nice but a little crowded. My husband and I ate in the Cafe. We had to wait for approximately 30min. I must say it wasn't worth the wait. Our food was very ordinary and my husband's coffee was not nice at all. My hot chocolate tasted very weak. The plate my food was on was badly chipped. Can't fault the wait staff. I think maybe as it's such busy place now that not much care is taken as they're so busy. On my the lemonade stand just outside the Cafe we bought just a regular lemonade it wasn't nice also. The best thing about our visit today was the donut stand. The lady that runs it is super nice her donuts are very very delicious 😁

The food was very nice and it's presentation. The staff were all friendly too. Very nice and clean restroom. The restaurant theme is artistic too. My only concern is we are still in pandemic but there are a lot of people in the flower aisle walking and taking pictures. I guess they should limit the number of people walking there. It didn't feel safe. Recommended for couple, group or family.

The grounds are really beautiful so, it was no surprise that it was busy with lots of people taking photos (including me!) We had to wait 20 minutes for a table in the cafe, but brunch was lovely. The choc & hazelnut shake was in particular delicious! Prices on the high side, but not extortionate. Friendly staff and service. The parking was a bit difficult, perhaps because it was such a busy day.

I absolutely love the story of The Grounds, the concept of having something very green and farm-like in the middle of such an industrial suburb. The food itself is very good and not too expensive (but certainly not cheap either). Loved the Christmas decorations and walk as well (despite the crowd!). The Christmas pastries were excellent.

Incredible atmosphere 👏 Service good, but felt rushed during our meal. Our food showed up intermittently, with three plates arriving - one not showing up until making our waitress aware. Food was presented beautifully, however the consensus on the table was food was only warm. The entire experience is beautifully presented, there has been no expense spared with interior design and plants wall to wall. Going in the afternoon, midweek is a must to beat the crowds. You need to dine in, in order to walk the candy lane at Christmas 🎄 Recommended spend per person is: Adults $30pp Children $15pp

Been here a few times, amazing location, amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Different zones and areas to enjoy. Had breakfast in the Cafe, was exceptional. Had the breakfast tacos and the bircher museli, and a very smooth coffee. They currently have a Mexican theme, and it's executed very well. Plenty to entertain kids, a lot of seating available. You can bring dogs into the venue (cats too apparently!)

Alice in Wonderland theme, which my 70 year old mum loved. She absolutely enjoyed celebrating her birthday there. Next time we are booking the little room upstairs through the spiral staircase . We went early before 12 which was easy to walk around. Very popular place. ❤️👍🏼

It's always nice to stop in every now and again. Weekends are busy, but just after lunch is the best time to get a seat... you just have to hope the cakes haven't sold out! Great coffee, nice atmosphere, and excellent deserts. Lunch isn't bad and worth a try of you are peckish

It's a pretty place with really nice atmosphere. However, I'd say the food (we ordered baked eggs) was just average. We liked the french toast though - maybe their bread and desserts are better than their savouries? Also, your experience could depend on where you are seating, so I recommend booking in advance to perhaps get a better table. We went at 10.30 am on a Monday but it was still crowded, so go there early if you can. Still worth visiting to see the garden with different themes

An ideal spot to dine out as well as hang out too. Great for events, casual meet-ups or walk ins too. All ages can enjoy this place and keep themselves entertained. Their themes keep changing every month, so keep a look out on their site for updates. They do cater for various dietary requirements including halal too. People are welcome here even for photos only too.

Our family visit to The Grounds of Alexandria right before Christmas was nothing short of magical. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and an atmosphere that felt like stepping into a wonderland. The service was impeccable; staff members were not only efficient but incredibly friendly, making us feel welcomed and cared for throughout our visit. But what truly took our breath away were the decorations. The Grounds had transformed into a festive paradise, with every corner adorned in the spirit of Christmas. It was like walking through a holiday dream, with stunning displays that captivated both the adults and kids in our family. The attention to detail was astounding, creating the perfect backdrop for our pre-Christmas outing. Everything about our experience was amazing – the delicious food, the warm ambiance, and the joy of being together in such a beautiful setting. The Grounds of Alexandria has a special way of making every visit memorable, and this one was especially so. We left with full hearts (and bellies!) and memories that will last a lifetime. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Definitely worth the visit! We came for breakfast. The deconstructed mocha was lovely and the cakes Royal Milk Chocolate was lovely as well. The real gem is the ambiance and grounds itself. We strolled through the various areas that make up this site and we’re surprised by the decoration, fountains, and overall experience. Would definitely like to come back for brunch.

One of the most interesting and wonderful cafes that i ever visited. I highly recommend this place when you are in Sydney. It’s like Alice in wonderland and with a few cute animals. The decorations and the food are just fabulous. I recommend coming here early morning or booking a table in advance, otherwise, the place is always full.

Terribly managed with COVID Guidelines, have been there twice recently and was shocked. Don’t expect distancing measures and patrons who act accordingly. It’s a shame as it’s Great food and coffee. I’ll be avoiding for a while now

The Disney theme at the moment is great! Worth visiting if in the area. The brunch was pretty good, as was the coffee. Nothing mind blowing, but I think it's more about the setting than the food. Great for groups too as there's plenty of areas to sit.

The place was so nice! You can have brunch, take photos here. They will change the themes from time to time. In January 2024, they still decorated in a Christmas theme. The food here was normal but the coffee was fantastic. The prices here were on average. They provided breakfast, lunch and take away menu. Take away food are more cheaper!!!! Last but not the least!!! Card payment will be charged 1.5% extra!

Great photo spot within Sydney area. Always beautiful decorations, lots of visitors. Love the coffee! Dog friendly is a bonus! Love to get back there sometime with my pooch🐩. For wedding reception here, it will look so elegant and vintage, feel like a princess in the enchanted forest👰👸!

Very good location nestled in an old mill. This time round had the Beauty and the Beast theme. Booked a table because is busy on a weekend and we got seated very quickly. We ordered an omelette and a brekky burgers, they were both really nice. Definitely worth a visit you'll be surprised!

Horrible experience. I used to love to have breakfast at The Grounds, went there today and they have a new menu that came out because of covid aparently, the same plate that used to be called Mediterranean bowl and was delicious now is 90% potato salad, very bad, very bad quality price remain the same, will not go back!! Dont recommend it to anyone

This review is based purely on the wedding venue they have on offer and not the cafe or restaurant. The good points: - staff was super friendly, helpful and top notch they were able to provide directions clearly and even took the time to escort us to the right location as there were three venues in the same location on offer. - the atmosphere and aesthetic of the location is beautiful. There’s a mixture of the old heritage industrial brick buildings, chimneys and abundance of plants. -the venue itself was also amazing, plants overhanging from the ceiling with old wooden spinning fans and fairy lights for the night wedding event. - ease of parking and a lot of loading zones making setting up decorations a breeze. - food was plentiful, delicious and will not leave you starving. Room for improvement: - being a business I understand there is a need to maximise profit (which is what a business strives for) but having 3x wedding events running at the same time within close proximity is not ideal. Especially when you can hear the next door venue blasting loud music, cheering and ruining the other events during their vows and speeches. Suggest adding some noise mitigation to reduce the impact. - the way the tables were set up was not the most efficient with the last table butt up against a curtain wall. I saw many of the waiters, servers and guests struggle to walk past to collect/serve food and drinks. Overall the good outweighed the negative, a great place to have a wedding venue.

Hot chocolate was yummy. Kids pasta sucked. My nephew was very disappointed about it. Service was fast. They gave us menus but we were also looking for other drinks and desserts so our server gave us another booklet menu. When we ordered the desserts the strawberry cake was out of stock and the page with all small pastries were phased out. She only told us after we ordered stuff off of that menu. So she handed us a piece of paper with the updated desserts. Our vietnamese salad bowl was so so I don't think it's worth $25. Barracuda burger was good with interesting potato tempura.

Weird location. Quite unaccessible. Not recommended for tourists. The staff weren't friendly. The advertised pig, "Harry Trotter" is nowhere to be found. Probably just a marketing gimmick. Nearest train station is about 1km walk away. The buses are also fairly infrequent. So many reviews keep saying its in the middle of the city. Haha if that area is what you call the city, i think you've gotta get a new dictionary. The food is bad and honestly not worth the money. Weird menu choices, so the safest option is just the toast and eggs which was $13. The chocolate and hazelnut milkshake was really good though. The toilet is also difficult to be found. Its in a hidden corner disguised as horse stables. The staff's directions to the toilet was also unhelpful. The staff at the cafe also made the payment process tedious and annoying. The female staff at the takeaway payment counter on 3 March 2020 morning between 10.30 to 12 ish, you have some serious attitude problem going on. Please change that if you are going to SERVE people. Almost felt like just walking away without making payment. Highly not recommended for people. Especially tourists, do not waste your time here.

The Grounds is a very unusual and very interesting spot in an industrial part of Sydney. The main attractions seems to be food and a small outdoor walkway that is decorated differently each season, in the most Instagram friendly way possible. As a result, there are A LOT of people (mostly tourists) trying to take photos in a VERY small space. I would consider nearby Sydney Park to be a much more enjoyable outdoor experience. In terms of food, there are a few different options, but we dined at the Cafe, so I'll talk about that from here on. The Cafe has a variety of food options, and everything we had was delicious. It was however pretty expensive, and the service was only adequate, clearly stretched from now busy the place was. Inside it isn't huge, so if you aren't a fan of confined dining then it's probably not the place for you. If you don't book ahead, expect to wait 10-30 minutes for a table during the week, and don't even bother at the weekend! Personally I think this place is a victim of its own success. If it was twice the size and 25% cheaper it would be unbelievable. But clearly they've made themselves too popular to lower prices (why would they, they're a business after all!) and too busy to make any space for relaxing or enjoying the scenery. We probably won't be back, but the food was very nice, parking was available, and highchairs weren't an issue.

Went for my sisters wedding reception. Food came out cold. Twice. They misspelt the brides name in chalk on the entry board. The music we really wanted to play for the first dance didn’t work properly with there system. Drinks were included but we received mixed instructions from staff. Go to the bar at the restaurant (we were seating near the fountain ) We got there and then we were told we can’t get drinks at the bar and that it was table service. So went back to the table and had to find staff located at the other restaurant to get a drink. This isn’t normal for the grounds What is even more crazy is the response. For a $5k package and everything that went wrong they gave her a voucher for $200 Approx. 15 people For a bride that has made so many sacrifices because of Covid. You’d hope the standards were a bit more to the norm

Very nice place. Usually busy. They have kids changing room. Service was great , very nice friendly staff. Food was good but portions were limited so is a little expensive side. Premium is for the place and ambiance. Ample free car parking available. Lots of places and areas to click nice photos but it’s busy on the weekdays as well so you have to be quick. They do different themes, so it’s really nice to be with kids

This place has potential but we have been so disappointed on every visit. Whether they have queues or just a normal crowd the food is always hit and miss and the service seems to deteriorate as time progresses ie. attentive at the start and then one is forgotten. The kitchen size and staff numbers are huge so there shouldn't be a reason for this but, we have been four times and none of our experiences have matched the positive reviews that others have written.

It’s always a great time when I come here. I love the way the theme changes every few months. It keeps me coming back. The food is great, the variety is wonderful allowing for different budgets and tastes. Easy to get to by public transportation, which I recommend because the parking is not that great. I really recommend going here but be prepared for it to crowded, especially on the weekends.

Friday morning (09:30AM-11:30AM), many customers, although busy but if you need, just wave to find the waiter Service is instant and great. The portion sizes of the meals are to be expected and the desserts are also delicious. The only downside is that the table is a bit small but it doesn't affect the beautiful interior design

This place is amazing! Food is great and atmosphere is just so magical. Perfect for an outing with the family (kids friendly) or a special day date! Photos taken here were amazing 🤩 Such an experience coming here. Will be back again soon. Only negative point would be the waiting times for a seat for food. Waited approximately 45mins for a table

We had a great time visiting the restaurant. Would have loved to explore more but they had couple of private events so didn’t have entire access. Christmas decor was really beautiful. It’s super crowded even on a Wed. Food and drinks were great. Wish they had more options for vegetarian. Maybe some wraps / bruschettas and pastas beyond the cauliflower and fries options. The mocktails were very yummy .attendants were super nice and polite. It is an expensive place and portions are small ish Expect a 30 mins wait if not made reservation.

I know it’s always crowded here. I went there yesterday. Everything is still surprising! The service I need to say is really good. With double pram, it’s a bit hard to move around inside, but the staff came and helped me, really warmed my heart 🥺 Still love the coffee and food, nothing changed, good service and good food!!!

Beautiful place just to even visit, though I would’ve loved to visit during one of their more known themes (eg. Alice in wonderland, specific Disney movies). Seemed like it was currently Easter themed with all the colours. | First time finally coming here and it seems like a chill place to be. | There was a cafe but don’t try it. You can book private dining. Saw people having little events are cute lunches with friends - bringing along food and decor. Also saw a wedding. | Did order the “fresh lemonade” but.. it was fizzy and just tasted like solo which I was very disappointed in as I love fresh lemonade. - my high rating for this place is the picturesque and vibes | Driving? You’ll find street parking close by

Opted for lunch today at The Grounds of Alexandria before our friends headed back home to Inverloch. Despite the crowd, we snagged parking. The food arrived in about 30 minutes, and although we were informed we had only an hour, our server didn't rush us. We lingered for desserts and a chai latte. The lady server was friendly, efficient, and attentive, ensuring everyone got their food simultaneously. The menus are in need of replacement as they appear soiled and worn. On average, minimum spend would be between $45-60 per person. Though the Christmas decorations were on our list, the bustling atmosphere led us to explore the nearby Hijinx Hotel and arcade instead.

Nice place, family friendly..kids will also enjoy the indoor play area.. Good customer service, yummy food..A beautiful place to visit, grab a coffee and enjoy the scenery. This place is incredibly popular with people looking to take photos and for good reason. Love the constantly changing themes. Food was also nice and delicious. Coffee was very nice - would definitely recommend to all to come and enjoy the Grounds of Alexandria

Went to the The Grounds of Alexandria cafe for brunch and, overall, we had a great experience! Whilst the fritters were decent, the French toasts were really tasty with a nice airy texture, and the mascarpone paired deliciously with it. Our visit was during the Beauty & The Beast theme so I also ordered the special drink which was such a beautiful drink! Even though this drink is irrelevant now that this theme is over, I felt like it shows well how aesthetic and beautiful the whole place is. If the food does not convince you, the outdoor decor and the food aesthetics will, making it a worthwhile experience. And it’s great for Instagram pictures!! Will definitely come back to see the new decor and try out some other dishes!

Great location for a cafe. The atmosphere was very good, with a Disney theme going on. The cafe was quite busy, but you can easily wait in line by registering online or at the counter and they will send a SMS when your table is ready, pretty seamless. The food was also very good. We opted for the fish tacos and beef burger, with the kids pasta and chicken roll. The kids options also came with fruit and sides. They also serve a wide range of cakes and desserts. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Parking is also very easy. Would 100% recommend to visit with friends and family.

I’ve been here so many times over the years and each visit is better than the last. This place is like a wonderland. Each visit there’s a different theme and so much to explore. Putting aside all the visual delights, the food and coffee served here is equally as good. The Grounds know what they’re doing when it comes to providing wholesome, tasty and substantial sized meals! The coffee is roasted on site and is some of the best you’ll get in Sydney. I always bring visitors from interstate or overseas to this venue because it’s simply a great place to visit and never disappoints.

A very gorgeous restaurant located on a quite and nice street. The sauce on it was pretty much like the pasta sauce and the sauce made the schnitzel become different. They serve some local breweries’ craft beer as well. I ordered a Young Henry’s apple cider and the cider just made the schnitzel become not that oily. A great spot for grabbing some food and drinks. The food was a little bit pricey but the amount of it was large. I’ve never seen such a beautiful restaurant before. You can just sit beside the lovely plants and chill.

Location: 5* Easy to find and ample parking. Atmosphere: 5* They have a theme every few months and you can tell how much thought they put into it. We went for the Disney theme and a couple of years back for the Moroccan theme. Both times it was breathtaking. There’re so many photo opportunities. Weekends can be quite crowded but still the venue is big enough to accommodate a large crowd. Food: 3.5* Kinda mediocre which was a bit of disappointment. But nothing bad to say about it. It just wasn’t living up to the rest of the experience. Service: 3.5* Good enough service. I’d give 4* overall. We had a lovely time.

We were lucky we only had to wait 10 minutes for the cafe. We got in, served straight away Coffee food and shake was very nice. Eggs were very tasty. Just very busy so if you have a pram can be hard to leave near table but other than that very nice cafe and atmosphere!

Some of the best coffee in Sydney! The tasting board for two was a very nice set of well made drinks; none of which had a hint of bitterness, most surprisingly the cold brew which was so smooth and sweet I wish I could take a few gallons with me back to the U.S. The lamb pita was very good and so filling as well. To top it off the milk-chocolate passion fruit dessert was a very nice patisserie-style desert without too much heaviness. Do yourself a favor; come with some friends, have some good food and some good coffee and enjoy the great environment they have set up for you!

It makes a lot of difference to order take away food. There are tables outside and it's very nice too, the food was delicious and the coffee very well prepared. The place is very nice inside and outside to walk. the only thing that would change would be that they bring the drinks with the food all together as we asked. but everything else is fine, we love coming here for breakfast.

Christmas is drawing near with the latest theme at the grounds being ginger bread house. The place is very green with plenty of plants surrounding the outdoor seating. Breakfast is serve until 11.45am and lunch menu post that. We were in time to get on the last ordering of breakfast menu and had to wait a few more minutes for lunch order. Food is alright, restaurant is fully packed on a weekday so we need to line up to get a table without prior booking.

Came here a few months ago for our anniversary and I must say this is one of the places I am most DISAPPOINTED AT!! Completely overpriced( ik its coz where they're situated at but still), food was mediocre nothing special. We were asked what type of water we like to get, at first i thought isnt there just tap water?! The waitress gave us three options mineral, tap or sparkling... So we chose mineral. Everything was normal until the bill came $60+ for just 1 dish, 1 dessert and BELIEVE IT OR NOT WATERRRRR!!?!?!!?! The water was $10 and the waitress didnt inform us about it at allll !!!! So we didnt know the whole time how Ridiculouss !! We left the area will huge regrets and disappointment after hearing all the good reviews from this place ! Our stomaches felt empty after this.... Will not recommend this to anyone and definitely won't not be returningggg!!! I would give this a zero if i could!

Amazing venue, great staff, but food was a little underwhelming for the price. Not bad, and quite pretty visually. Coffee was good too!

We attended a wedding here on the wettest of Sydney evenings. The Grounds had to switch the location of the wedding and reception, despite the reception venue having been decked out for a Mad Hatter's party during the day. Well done!!! The kid's meals were a great variety of healthy foods (which my kids loved) followed by some well cooked chicken schnitzel and chips, and then a nice dessert cone with strawberry sorbet. The adult meals were similarly nice and generous. However, I wasn't a big fan of the Roasted Pumpkin entree, as it didn't come together for me as a unified dish, although it looked lovely.

I went here on a Saturday morning for breakfast with my girlfriend. We both ordered a coffee and a omelette. The omelette was incredibly creamy but the filling was so bland. The closest thing to flavour was the 5 balls of fish roe on top.... The coffee was probably the worst coffee I've ever had. The first cup was incredibly bitter with burnt notes throughout. We sent them back and had new ones made which were no different. When I asked not to be charged for the coffees at the end, out waiter was very rude, had us pay and then stormed off even though I was incredibly polite. This was my third time at the grounds and they've been much more pleasant experiences but unfortunately this experience will be burnt into my mind.

Great coffee! Great ambiance! Most importantly great food! They really build such a lovely and thoughtful place here. It is just suitable for everyone: individuals seeking place for inspiration or just good coffee, chit chat with friends, or even big groups. We were big groups of 12, and they managed to find such space for big group in just a minute, and they gave us great service as well. Would recommend people to come here, and would definitely come back

Beautiful location and delicious coffee. Service was great but food was average. Nice and fresh but not amazing in taste. Prices are reasonable for the location.

Hipster hangout witnessed with a indoor garden area which was quite pleasant. Had coffee and Shared a piece cake at the cafe next door which was quite unusual.

It's not just the delicious food and beautiful decor, management has a desire to ensure every customer receives good service and will step in to fix the odd mishap if it happens. Not often do you find a place that excels in all those aspects. You will feel well taken care of while enjoying a scrumptious meal in one of the most tastefully decorated venues in Sydney. Well done to The Grounds of Alexandria.

A beautiful place to visit, grab a coffee and enjoy the scenery. This place is incredibly popular with people looking to take photos and for good reason. Love the constantly changing themes. Food was also nice and delicious. Coffee was very nice - would definitely recommend to all to come and enjoy the Grounds of Alexandria

One of my favourite restaurant and cafe in Sydney. Its beautiful environment definitely highlights the experience. I had a hot chocolate, an iced tea drink, mussels, and fresh egg spaghetti. Love the texture of the fresh egg spaghetti and toppings of Aussie pork sausage, shellfish and peas. All Ingredients gone so well and harmonious together. The restaurant was quiet because of pandemic so I got the chance to enjoy my meal with a peaceful and scenic environment. It was an amazing dinning experience. I asked the staff what is the quietist time to visit this place and they recommend in the morning during weekdays.

The Avocado Toast was absolutely scrumptious! And the royal cake was just perfect. Im mouthwatering for another one! The burger was ok but nothing special. Its expensive but Id go there again just to eat that cake and avocado toast!

Amazing place to go with friends and loved ones. There's always things to explore and take plenty of pics with! Look out for exhibits that pop up multiple times a year, cos the Grounds become bustling with crowds, but at night it gets taken to a whole new level when the lights are up! I recommend going late afternoon or earlier to make the brunch cafes.

Highly recommended for small group functions! We had our own private outdoor undercover area surrounded with lush vines and overhanging trailing plants. The service was friendly and waitstaff were very attentive. The food was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and delicious. Had a great time here and would definitely come back.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
