The best pork roll in Sydney coming from a person who has tried many pork rolls especially in Cabramatta. At first, I was like $7 for a pork roll? I usually pay $4.50 but it was god damn worth it. Service: 5 / 5 stars Vibe: 3 / 5 stars Food: 5 / 5 stars Overall: 5 / 5 stars It was a very long line but the pork roll had a lot of stuffings in it and everything is balanced! Nothing really overpowers each other and the bread was consistently nice and cripsy! Vibe just works, not too flashy and service was god damn quick! Chicken roll was amazing as well but the pork roll was the star of the show.

The crackling pork roll seems to have less crackling nowadays and the pork quality is not as perfect as before (it used to be that every piece was a prime cut of tender lean pork belly with a little bit of fat and crispy crackling). The classic pork roll is still juicy as ever. All 3 of the crackling pork ($10), pork ($8) and chicken ($9) had a balanced amount of veg and ample pate. They did get a little soggy today after a 20-minute drive, which never used to happen. As always, it is an incredibly well-oiled operation - the line moves quickly, and once you order, your rolls will be with you in less than a minute.

The best banh mi I have ever had ! Full of flavour and I wish there was one in Brisbane! They stuff the banh mi full of goodies and the bread is soft and crispy at the same time! I never knew food tasted this good until I went to Marrickville pork roll! Best in Sydney no doubt !

Crackling pork roll had good texture and packed a punch with savoury and chilli notes. However, I was disappointed by lack of crispy skin in the roll as well as the size of the roll. For $8, there could be more vegetables and crispy skin packed in. The staff are friendly and efficient. Went at ~1pm but the long line moved quite quickly to my surprise (<15 min wait). Despite the trek, the pork cracking roll at Top Ryde Bakers House is still the best I’ve had in Sydney 🥵

Solid feed! Always a line! We got the crispy pork roll and meatball + pork roll. Go easy on the chilli that is spicy stuff haha! Would recommend!

Awesome value-for-money banh mi packed full of delicious ingredients that really hits the spot for a roll bursting with flavour. There's different filling options for meat including varieties of pork prepared different ways including the classic original pork, a cracking and BBQ pork option as well as chicken, tuna and meat balls. There's plenty of vegetables that come with the roll (but you can customise) as well as optional chili for an extra kick. Their banh mi is popular for all the right reasons.

There is a reason why there is always a long line in front of that shop. Best pork rolls in this part of town! I always get the pork crackling banh mi but the classic pork roll is fantastic too. They offer also rice paper rolls and Vietnamese meat balls. They have refurbished the place in 2021, it used to be a hole in a wall but now thry have a proper store. Card payments are accepted!

Not the cheapest pork rolls you could get but high quality ingredients. The bread rolls, pate, ingredients, etc. are made on site fresh everyday. I live locally so would usually go during weekdays to avoid the crowded. Traditional pork roll is my go to whenever I come here. Crackling pork isn’t that good compared to the original one and $10 is very pricey indeed.

Pork roll, the crispy crackling pork roll it’s good. When a place has a line out the door and around the corner you know it’s going to be well worth the wait. So do yourself a flavour head to Marrickville and jump in the queue

Really yum! Price is reasonable; the bread and the fillings are really fresh and tasty. It is worth to queue up, and will definitely come back again.

Great little Vietnamese pork roll restaurant. They have amazing service and they keep it going very quickly. You should spend no longer than 2 minutes at this place and 5 at the max if they are busy. The staff have years of expertise and are professional and efficient. Of course the food is great as well. There are a large variety of flavours to pick from and they only use the best and freshest ingredients. One of the best pork roll shops in Sydney

Service with a smile (which is always good especially after waiting 20-30mins) the ladies happily pack their banh mi's with plenty of meat and vegetables, their bread isn't the best but overall taste was great and I would rate this number 2 in Sydney just behind Hong Ha

This Vietnamese pork roll is one of the best in the city. If you try once and you never buy to another shop. Little bit expensive. Price is $7 for pork roll but i think it worth it.

First time here to try a local Marrickville institution. Here is my take on it- the pork rollls are exceptional value for money, lots of filling and genuine crusty bread. Personally we found the sauce a bit too sweet and a bit heavy-handed which made the bread a bit soggy. Overall definitely worth a try.

Was quire impressed this recent visit. Years ago it was a dirty looking hole in the wall. But now it actually is quite clean. Still well priced $8 most rolls, friendly and accommodating. Fresh and long queues.

Fantastic Pork Rolls! The food is absolutely yums and it's affordable. Had the crackling pork roll and the BBQ pork roll and both were superb. Though I will have to say that the chilli was on the spicy side but it provides a good kick Definitely will be back again.

finally tried the popular marrickville pork roll in sydney… having grown up in cabra, let me tell you i’ve had too many pork rolls 🤣 we were in the area and decided y not?? 🤷🏻‍♀️ 👅Pork Roll & Roast Pork Roll let’s get to the nitty gritty. firstly, the butter was non existent. there was barely any butter??? and the pate wasn’t going off as well 😭 both rolls literally look like they were from different places?? and it was quite inconsistent as one of our mates had a fully packed pork roll! The fillings were standard for the pork roll. tbh nothing special and it wasn’t fresh as fuk. the roast pork was soggy… and cut into such small pieces. ARE WE ANTS? The bread was dry n stale as well 🥲 Also, the lettuce threw us off 😅 it was an okay pork roll. not bad but not good (thx jisoo) first and last time for us 😂 OVERALL, service ⚡️5/6 timing ⚡️6/6 flavour ⚡️3/6 presentation ⚡️5/6 freshness ⚡️3/6 pricing ⚡️4/6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.5/6 more honest and fun food reviews in syd! head to ig @hangryhawlz (:

The Famous Marrickville Pork roll. The girls here pump out the sandwiches so fast its incredible. The pork crackling ones are my favourite, I could (and have) eaten them daily. Cash only, and sometimes have lines - but they move fast! Keep up the great work!

100% worth the trip out to Marrickville for one of these. Great fresh rolls, fresh ingredients, perfect chilli balance and overall ONE of the best I've had in Sydney so far since moving here. Recommend a trip out there. Now to see how the one in Darling Square compares.

Tasty chicken roll for $7. Good selection of traditional ingredients: - Cucumber - Carrot - Onion - Spring onion - Tomato - Lettuce - Coriander - Turnip Served in a fresh crusty roll. Chicken is slightly on the fatty side for me but overall a good Bahn Mi

Great bread and filling. It's the best pork roll that I've had so far in Sydney, but it's like a gourmet burger, sometimes you just want something simple, like your local Hotbread Banhmi!

Great roll, really good combinations of flavours although struggled to really get much of that pork taste. This place was hyped quite a lot by a friend of mine so was expecting big things, rolls weren't warm and pork got lost amongst everything else. Otherwise everything else was perfect including service!

The line always looks long but the staff are so efficient that you will have your perfectly constructed roll in no time! Really good value and the food is consistent, so you always get what you are expecting. They use really hot chili so if you're not used to it then just ask for a little bit! The vegetable rolls are nice as well.

Really lovely staff when I came in, and they have a steady flow of customers at all hours it seems. I got a classic pork roll, a tuna roll, and a BBQ pork roll with "đồ chua”, aka the pickled veggies, on the side for just one. Despite the veggies being packed aside for all three sandwiches, I did enjoy mine thoroughly and appreciated their intentions. If anyone is curious, the tuna sandwich is not filled with the pale Western canned tuna but a tomatoey marinaded version with some onion cooked in. I also ordered three plain sandwich baguettes for 1.80, and a $7 tub of paté which I was able to freeze a portion of for later ?

After hearing such high reviews, I decided to come here all the way from Wollongong and wow, I was not disappointed! Such a large, perfect textured roll which is generously filled with their unique sauces, pate and all the rest. They've updated their prices so now the standard roll is $6 but that's still great value. I'll definitely be coming back to try other flavours

A small take away shop that serves great Vietnamese rolls, the loaves are crunchy, and good servings of meatballs, pork belly, chicken, or your basic pork roll. Just be sure to bring cash, they unfortunately don't do eftpos or credit cards.

  • 5/5 Sharon 3 years ago on Google
They accept card. There was a queue when I went to buy my lunch, but the line goes very quickly. Won't have to wait long , so don't be deterred if you see a queue. Its worth the wait!

I’ve heard of them for a while and have had housemates brought them back and tried it before. But today was my first visit and it is THE pork roll to go to when you are nearby or even worth for driving 20 minutes (like me lol). Excellent value with fresh ingredients and great service. It was a very pleasant first visit.

Iconic. At the centre of Vietnamese cuisine in Marrickville, a simple menu thats hearty - got all your components for a great banh mi. If you order with chilli its the exact right amount of spice. Cheap, quick and efficient, Marrickville Pork Roll serves culture and good value in a sandwich.

  • 1/5 Elmer F. 3 years ago on Google
Having lived in the area since my existence over over 30 years, I’ve seen some significant changes that have occurred over the past few decades. I’m still trying to fathom the appeal this former loo which the locals seem to queue across the road for. Having been to Saigon and having some of the best banh mi in nation, this place is just underwhelming. I can see why the appeal has been built around people having the impression that because there’s a long queue, that it must be great. This couldn’t be far from the reality. I’ve tried it on a number of occasions and each time the produce tastes fermented and unfresh, bread is soft and spongy. It has left myself and family members with an uncomfortable bacteria stuck in throat feeling after having one, similar to a food positioning. Our experience is not anecdotal. Flies can be seen swarming the condiments and meats. Staff handle cash and touch food directly. This place has now breached NSW health regulations multiple times now. No wash facilities, no temperature control of meat to name a few breaches. All in all, do not risk your health and food poisoning from this place. The queues outside are just hype and hysteria. The shop is barely able to fit a person, so you obviously will have a queue regardless. Old habits die hard and this place is still a local loo.

Can’t. Stop. Going. Back. Truly delicious pork rolls and great value. Don’t be scared by the line. Even when there’s twenty people in it you’re usually walking away with your roll in no time.

Fresh Vietnamese roll, a must try judging from the long queue outside the store. Service was fast despite the long queue. Price has increased from 6 to 7 to 8 per roll now within less than a year! Must go for chilli if you can take it. Our pork roll and chicken roll were both great! Juicy meat, crunchy and fresh vege, crusty yet soft bread with tasty sauce.

  • 2/5 Georgia C. 1 year ago on Google
Unfortunately this place has gone downhill from its original winner recipe several years ago. The filling is a mish mash, not neatly packed like it used to be so you would get a bit of every ingredient with each bite. The bun itself is nice, as is the pate but everything else is a distant memory of what it used to be. This place should be dethroned. The joint in Top Ryde deserves the crown.

  • 5/5 Michael L. 1 year ago on Google
Best Bahn Mi that I have ever had. Consistently delivers every time and whilst there is nearly always a line out the door they manage to get through it so efficiently. I make a 40min + trip just to come here and it’s more than worth it. The pork is crispy, the pickled vegetables so fresh, the chilli has just the right amount of kick. Writing this review has made me want to go back for more - can’t say enough good things!

Cheap and delicious! We passed by late afternoon on a Wednesday. We got the crackling pork roll ($10) and it was filled with pork, some crackles, pickled veggies. I wish the veggies are more pickled though. My husband did not like the crackles. It was not too dry so a pretty good roll overall. There’s no place to sit so you need to eat it elsewhere or on the go.

Very authentic and delicious pork rolls with about 10 different varieties of the original pork roll. The filling is fresh and generous, the bread is crunchy and fluffy on the side, there is usually a bit of a queue so try to go early to avoid waiting too long but in saying that the line moves quickly. Would recommend the pork crackling roll

I finally made the trip to Marrickville to try some of their infamous banh mis. We ordered one crispy pork roll and one pork skin strip roll. The banh mis were delicious. The meat and vegetables were evenly balanced. And finishing them felt like I just had a light meal. My girlfriend would describe them as refreshing and well-balanced. It’s her favourite pork roll place. The service was incredibly quick. Can’t go wrong.

Delicious!! Got the roast pork roll and love everything about it! They add onion (I think) and lettuce which is very different to the ones I've had before. Will get less Chili next time as their Chili is quite spicy.

A must visit hidden place near Circular Quay! If you're in the mood for a quick take out gastronomic experience, look no further than this small shop that specialise in Pork Roll. Ordered the bbq pork and crispy pork roll. The bread was nice and warm and the filling was just right. It’s nothing too over the top, you can still have that bite of the bread and filling which is good.

Second time here and just had to take photos this time. There is a line outside but the service is so fast and efficient that it moves pretty quickly. Can I just say that the size and the quality of the rolls in this pork roll joint is definitely worth the visit. Like last time I got the Crispy Pork Roll. It was so good that I had to get two. #ChefsKiss

I don’t know if it was just this time, but the pork roll wasn’t as incredibly delicious as it usually was. Certainly some of the best I’ve had in Sydney however, the one in Darling quarter seems to have more consistency and a better all-around flavor. Don’t get me wrong. They’re still tasty at the original in Merriville but maybe because it was so busy they lacked in something or other.

The long line out of the store is telling of how good these Bahn Mi are! The bread is crispy and soft inside, the pickle is tart, the veggies fresh, the meat flavoursome. We tried both the meatball and crispy pork belly rolls which were delicious. Of the two, I’d recommend the meatball option. The meatballs were big, juicy and flavoursome. They weren’t fatty and yet still really saucy and moist in the roll. I thought the pork belly had bits that were too fatty and chewy, and the crackling could’ve been crispier. Meatball - 9/10 Crispy Pork Belly - 8/10 The service here is also fantastic! They have an efficient production line; although the line was way out the door we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes.

At 8 bucks a pop, that's insane value for money given today's economy. The seemingly long queues move very quickly, so don't be scared by that. Just join the queue and you'll be in the front soon. Honestly the best pork roll I've had so far, with Hong Ha as second. The quality of bread and the sauces used are what makes this special for me. My friends and I queued up and ate one, then joined the queue again to grab a second.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
