I've just attended the 4 days jeweller's summer school for beginners with Danielle. It's unbelievable how much you can learn and achieve for just 4 days! I've learnt and tried many processes and techniques. Danielle is highly professional and supportive teacher. You will feel like a superstar regardless of your talent and how quickly you learn things. She creates a very comfortable environment for all students. I love the studio! So many shiny tools to try. It's nice to have a break on the kitchen with tea, coffee and 🍪 Love everything about this place! Definitely coming back soon.

Really enjoyed the 4 day summer school Beginner workshop; it was hands on from the get-go; and we covered so much more than I thought we would. I thought I'd just be making a ring and maybe something else; instead I managed to make a ring, 2 pairs of ear-rings and 2 pendants, and I was one of the slowest in the class. Seriously, what some of the students turned out was amazing both artistically and in quantity. Dani (Danielle Lo) was a wonderful and patient tutor (and I am a very demanding, always asking questions student!) and she is also an accomplished contemporary jeweller/silversmith with the most beautiful designs. I will be following up with a Day course later in January and term course in Feb. I would recommend this course to anyone. Even if you think you aren't creative, you will be amazed by what you can achieve :)

I started at Square Peg in the beginners class and have been a student at Square Peg for a couple of years, I even did a zoom class during the COVID lockdown. I've found all courses thoroughly enjoyable and have created some wonderful pieces of jewellery and had a lot of fun doing so. I have just completed Emily's 7 week Tuesday night class and completed some beautiful work. I found Emily to be very patient with a limitless bank of knowledge and skill that she is only too happy to share with all her students. 5/5

I have done several courses at Square Peg and with every course I have learnt so much and had such an enjoyable experience. The space has been carefully considered and is well layed out and cared for and has all the equipment needed for the work. The classes are small and during Covid, the studio has been strict with social distancing measures whilst still maintaining a sense of class collegiality and practical demonstrations. The teacher is always there to help and guide you as your skills grow and it is a fun, supportive learning environment. If you are looking for a skills based, practical course learning Metalcraft, then definitely give Square Peg a go. Highly recommend.

SquarePeg Studios provide expert tuition for beginners and advanced jewellery making students in a friendly environment. Majella Beck is a fantastic teacher and I can thoroughly recommend the evening classes and weekend workshops to anyone wanting to learn or to improve their jewellery making skills and techniques.

It is great to have courses that are technically focused and SquarePeg delivers those in an accessible and supportive way. I really developed my soldering skills so that I now can do some very sophisticated work where previously I was afraid to use the torch. I have done the wax carving and come away with a piece that everyone wants to have too. I use the silicone mould-making knowledge to make 3D forms for casting, but I also use it make chocolates as well! I have also attended the Atelier program throughout 2016. This course hasn’t just developed my skills, but it has helped me clarify my ideas too. I have seriously broadened my repertoire of forms and techniques. The teaching is very student centred and flexible. The conversation and brainstorming that happens in the group has really helped me solve any challenges I have had so I really feel that I am in an inclusive community of practice.

Square peg is a creative hub for learning, creativity, and fine tuning your skills in contemporary jewellery making. The courses are short yet very fulfilling, and the teachers patiently guide through each process from start to finish.

The jewellery course was a huge disappointment. Not enough equipment for the amount of students, people were late and then, they would get one on one time. The course was slow due to that. I would not recommend this if your looking at seriously doing jewellery making. I only ended up doing two classes.

Liz was an amazing tutor and welcomed any questions about ring making. The lesson is well paced and makes you want to learn more!

It was extremely satisfying to be able to learn so much in a short amount of time. Absolutely loved the studio space. Our instructor Liz was very efficient and patient with us. She’s amazing. She helped me making two beautiful rings.

Squarepeg is a wonderful studio with a fantastic set of teachers. I've taken many courses here, starting my jewellery journey as an absolute beginner. Most recently, I've taken the Atelier course with Mel and I have only great things to say about it:). The studio itself is a great space- fully stocked with all you'll ever need for your classes. The teachers are super knowledgeable, and very patient with all student questions (and there are many!). I have learned so much here. Highly recommend this studio. I've loved the time I've spent creating here!

Square Peg Thursdays is the best day of my entire week. The studio is heaven on earth and my hours there are pure creative therapy and delight. I have studied silver smithing on-and-off for 30 years but it has been 19 years since my last committed stint. So, somewhere in me are long-forgotten skills and distant foggy memories of how various techniques and tools work. Mel has coaxed and guided as I’ve fumbled back from the forgotten past. This week I finished a UFP (an unfinished project) that has been knocking around for 19 years - so very satisfying! In the two terms I’ve been at SP I’ve also had the chance to try fabulous new techniques - sand casting and tube setting. Mel is a wonderful tutor with immeasurable experience, skill and knowledge, I don’t believe there would be a thing she couldn’t problem solve or tackle. Fellow-students are all so delightful, encouraging and generous with their own knowledge, it is the best. I love Square Peg so much and wouldn’t swap the 5 hours commute it requires each time for any other Thursday anywhere. Thankyou Mel and everyone at Square Peg.

What a fantastic experience it was participating in weekend beginners with our lovely teacher Mel at Square Peg. My fellow beginners were absolutely gorgeous too. Finished on a high on Sunday 30th July because it was everything I hoped it would be and more. We all walked away with a couple of pieces that we proudly made. Will be back for more!!! Could be a new addiction. Thank you Square Peg 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

We attended SquarePeg Studios 'Make a ring in a day' workshop as part of our teachers training for jewellery making. The course was fantastic, we learnt a lot of skills, had a lot of fun and when home with a great quality ring.

👍👍 I recently needed to source a well cut & polished emerald-cut diamond to complete an Opal pendant design I was working on.
