I received very poor treatment here. I thought staff here were unprofessional and rude. Long wait in emergency and once in a treating area a long wait to see a doctor. Kept in overnight on a bed in emergency which was cold. Discharged while still unwell. Went to Concord Hospital Emergency. Great treatment. Had to be admitted for few weeks because I was very sick. I could have died because of my treatment at RPA.

This is for TPU day surgery service. I needed to do a thumb tendon surgery and they asked me to do fasting since the day before. I came on time at 8AM as scheduled, and they kept me waiting for almost half day now. (8am-6pm) and no ETA announced until everyone else left... Nothing!!! Keep me waiting and waiting in vain. I am extremely disappointed by the service of one of top public hospital in NSW. Update 14-03-2023: I am still waiting in vain and no sign they will do the procedure for me today. Has been two day no food no drink... And continuously almost 24 hours now

I’ve got vaccinated this morning. Obviously need to wait for the long queue and suddenly one random couple jump the queue in front of us. Told them nicely first but they wouldn’t listen and even told me to calm down! Amazing thing is, staffs came and told us if I won’t stop talking about this he will move us out!! What an amazing help!! Let’s all don’t bother to line up, just jump the queue because nobody cares. If you talk about public basic manner, you will be kick off. Thank you, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital staffs. Shame on all of you!

Absolutely disgusted and horrifed with the management of this hospital. After several months of battling their eating disorder, my cousin was rushed to the emergancy care to seek the help they obviously needed. The hospital's response? They weren't "sick" enough to be admitted, so the team sent them off with some fluids and no actual help whatsoever. Almost died a week later, how dare you. If you're in need of serious medical attention, this is NOT the place to go. For the sake of your health, please go somewhere else.

Had a few operations at RPA and also been admitted to Emergency. I’ve always been treated with respect, care, compassion and professionalism by Doctors and nurses. It makes me sad when I read negative experiences, unfortunately this does happen. I’m glad I’ve had positive experiences every time. A very good hospital and staff.

Very disappointed with the hospital, and the lack of care for me after I delivered my premature baby. I have no receive epidural over an hour after requesting it, even tho my baby heart rate was dropping. They messed up from the very start, assessing broken waters but sent me home 2 days later. I have complained and I am still to receive answers. I was placed in a close contact ward and had very limited care, no one to answer my calls and requests, no cleaning done in my room, was separated from my baby for 10 days which is against WHO and HNSW recommendations. I am still suffering from the episiotomy and was sent home with no psychological help at all. The communication between services/floors is appalling. I would never give birth there again, and I don't recommend you do. If your baby ends up in NICU however, you can have peace of mind that he/she will be well looked after.

I was put into a covid ward even though I don’t have covid and am not a close contact of anyone with covid. Furthermore my rights as a patient have been overlooked significantly and staff have frequently ignored me or screamed at me when I’ve made polite requests. I would avoid this hospital if you can do so at all costs. It’s unfortunate as I know how hard working many health care workers are but the reality of the treatment I have received is less than poor and borders on abusive.

The hospital is hit miss like all of NSW Health. The nurses have mental health issues so depending on which nurse you get, either you will receive good care or be subjected to abuse like having your meds not given, information not provided, details not passed to your doctors (who often review remotely so you don’t see them every day). The outsourced food is not relevant to your needs and not replaced with adequate nutrition if you have allergies etc. I saw one new father deliberately kept outside because the nurses didn’t like him then watched them laugh at the struggling new mum who was doing things without support and the nurses just watched, didn’t help her. Same with trying to get information from Doctors, they simply don’t talk to you. The information provided by the nurses is often half-truths designed to placate people not be honest with them.

If this place worried more about patients (customers) rather than gay pride they might be able to lower ridiculous wait times, if nurses saw patients as people not numbers there may be some level of "care" instead they are too worried about doing Their hair in the mirror and wearing their rainbow lanyard, rather than taking their job with pride. Seems they are only happy to sit at a desk for a pay check while avoiding work with patients. Most appealing experience, they need a lot of work before calling this place a hospital.

Yesterday, I had to have an operation at RPA. It was amazing service, and the staff were wonderful. All the nurses and doctors were fantastic, and I would like to commend them on their work and thank them again very much. Great job. Thank you 😊

Yesterday was my first Pfizer vaccination at the mass vaccination centre at the RPA. My experience was mixed and I have questions: Why was no one checked for temperature at the entrance? Why are people seated too closely, with only one narrow seat between them, in the waiting room? Why is the vaccination room crowded, where people remain stationary three times for up to 15 minutes during their stay in that room? Why is the information sheet that comes with the booking email not updated? For those of you coming by car, levels 1A and 1B are blocked off and you will have to find a park on the other levels, which is almost impossible. Parking is NOT free, I paid $10 for 1.5 hours.

Such a poor management and negligence from the hospital. We went there for delivery and they put someone noon vaccinated and not tested women in our ward and after that they started saying we are in a close contact and have moved to the quarantine ward. They put us in the quarantine ward and carelessly leave us there for hours. Even if we ring the bell someone will shout from the door and ask for what we need? If we ask anyone no one knows the answer all off the staff seems like unaware of anything. I can’t believe this thing exists in such crucial healthcare system.

RPA is located quite a bit away from train stations which makes it difficult to get to if you're not in the immediate vicinity which I suppose is the point but we managed to get into the catchment just before our move. RPA is located about 15-20 mins from the Newtown train station. There is a free parenting class for six weeks for new parents so this could be annoying to commute to as it's during the week. You have to pay a hefty fee if you want a weekend intensive. At least the class were free I guess. There was one class where there was a really strict, old and grumpy physio who doesn't allow people to use phones. I suggest someone talk to her as most people have work commitments. The younger midwife who ran the parenting classes was much better and very easy to get along with! It's got a different cafe inside the hospital from the others that always have zukkos which is a nice change. There is also a florist, conveniently neathe lift on ground floor from the st (but actually 5th floor). It wasnt hard to navigate once you've been on the tour.

I had the worst experience with midwife (Jacky) there. I had my first son at RPAH and it was just great. However this time at meeting for second baby was awful with her. The way she talks and her attitude for patient were not caring and respectful AT ALL. She kept asking me same questions again and did not seem to be stable with what she was doing. She wasn’t professional at all. That midwife was the first person who made me (and my baby) feel not welcomed ever. I feel sorry to other good midwives that I can’t give five stars because of her.

It is with a great deal of pleasure we write this review for RPA. My wife was scheduled for a procedure in day surgery. We are from Tamworth in country NSW so any trip to Sydney for medical purposes is a daunting task. Initially on a very wet morning I unintentionally dropped my wife on the incorrect side of the road to enter the hospital. She was escorted to the correct side by a very helpful nurse. From that moment on she was treated extremely professionally. Kind, courteous and caring are all the correct words to describe her care. At the time of being released, she was to be released into my care which would have been a very difficult task as I am elderly and parking anywhere near where she needed to be picked up would have been impossible. As we were staying close by 2 senior nursing staff walked her the ten minutes back to our accommodation. A huge congratulations to the hospital and their incredible nurses for going the extra distance. Would highly recommend RPA.

Children's Ward- the team has been superb! Well done!!! We have been to this hospital multiple times and the team always delivers including the nurses. We felt the love/care and they kept us up to date at all times. The follow up phone call was a nice touched as well. Many, many thanks everyone! 🥰❤️👏 Unfortunately, kitchen staff needs some upgrading! 🥵 I wonder if they even try the food before serving. See attached photo, would you eat this? Didn't smell good at all. I'm sure there are a lot of food wastage. I kept seeing the trays being sent back to the kitchen untouched. 😱

I made my 1st covid 19 vaccin in this hospital and I they didn't record me correctly so I have no proof that I actualy did it and it blocks me on everything now! I can't book any appointement for the 2nd or pass my exam !! I tried to call but no one helps me right, I just got redirected! I call different services but no one can find me because the hospital didn't record me correctly !! I did everything I could but nothing seems to change ! What a shame

I have served my 14 day isolation and had never received a call from the rpav to follow up on my case since my first day of iso. I had to call them on the 7th and tell them my case.. they said they would get back to me and did not get back to me. I called them everyday from then and their phone lines would not be working . Today on the 13th I was able to get through to them I have not received my discharge papers and they said they have a over flow of covid patients. I have served my 14 days and they want me to sit more in iso until they call me and sicharhe me. This is wrong . I will not sacrifice my freedom because they are not capable of containing their work to meet due date.

Overall good care for a cut that had to have an operation. The nurses were great and the surgeon did a good job. However the post op and discharge were really poor. The surgeon said he would see me after the operation. He didn't. He phoned me and had a 30 second chat to me on the phone while I was still groggy from the anaesthetic. I couldn't follow him and there were some complexities about a silicone nail that was put on my finger, that left me in the dark about how to manage this. The nurse in the hand surgery ward was keen to discharge me at the end of a shift and she gave me an ointment with unclear instructions on what to do with it. She said they don't use this ointment any more. I was given one session with plastics dressings and the nurse there basically told me to put a band aid on my finger while it was still feeling quite raw and vulnerable so, I just did the best I could dressing it myself for several weeks.

Medical assistance was good; the six-hour discharge process for two bits of paper (prescription and certificate) was ridiculous and unnecessary. It would’ve been much faster to fly to my GP in Melbourne to get to the bits of paper!

Still saving lives but so much attitude and rudeness from admin, nurses and doctors. Waited in Emergency for a long time twice before and the staff just make it so much worse. Why work in a caring profession when you really don't care about anyone? They are toxic even to their colleagues and blame low funding when really they could be wasting a lot less time and money if they helped people quickly before symptoms worsen waiting around.

Having my dad in there with kidney decrease. The doctors recently told us he may not make it.Whats really pathetic is the D.N.R.policy they have.DO NOT RESCUSITATE. So if my dad goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing they will not rescuscitate.Just let him pass away. How heartless .We thought it was their job to save lives. It doesn't matter how much more time it gives the sick people.Whoever came up with this policy honestly has no idea the pain and suffering families go through.Show some compassion doctors. And if that wasn t bad enough he's been administered morphine which has totally knocked him out and made him a vegetable.Lets speed up the death process. Dignified death?.I dont think so.

A friend of mine just recently was taken by ambulance to the hospital and because of Covid sent her home with a rash all over her body. The next day called and ambulance again to be told they wouldn't take her in and she could take care of rash herself. She is 78 and lives on her own. On the fourth day enough was enough and she called the ambulance again and they took her in. They found her a bed and has been in for the last four days. They have lost her charger for her phone, a warm jacket she came in and a bag with medication. When I called they told me they can't find it and can't do anything about it. You can't take anything in for her and no one will come and get anything if you are downstairs. No toothbrush for 3 days until we complained.

NICU- couldn’t have asked for a better team of doctors! so polite, caring and loving. went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in the 2 and a half months of being there. Labour & Delivery- such compassionate nurses! had one in particular that went the extra mile for me. will never forget the beautiful people that looked after myself and my son.

Not a good hospital. Their staff in short stay ward laughed at me, spoke about me behind my back within ears length and basically spent 8 minutes with me after I waited 8 hrs for an urgent gynecologist review. There are few good staff here...you can only count them on one hand. Unfortunately.

The worse hospital, we went there in emergency ward and waiting for 2 hours without any treatment done yet. My husband got diarrhea, vomiting and high fever for almost 4 days. He not even have power for sit down or walk after been diarrhea and vomiting without any food for couple days but the nurse still asking him to wait. And she said they need to taking care more worse patients and I don’t know how could more worse my husband will be? Maybe till he die cause lack of fluids then they will taking care of him. He paid higher tax every year, is just so hard to get something to stop his diarrhea and vomiting in that hospital.

Absolutely disgusting treatment while people with knifes outside threatened to K I'll me. Genuines staff thought it was a great idea to not only take my phone to prevent me from calling the police they also held me down 7 on one to a hospital bed and forced me with an injection. Then made me leave after deeming I was mentally sane to do so. You should be sued for doing that, putting me in danger is absolutely disgusting.

Had my tonsils removed and I was really nervous about it beforehand. Every staff member I talked to were the most wonderful, positive and helpful people I've ever met. The whole process felt so easy and educational as everyone explained what they were going to do. Special thank you to Katherine Avery in the Recovery Unit for her extremely professional and lovely service, she went above and beyond for me!

It is absolutely impossible to contact RPA Pre Admission. You either get a constant engaged signal or, worse, the phone answers and immediately hangs up on you. Very annoying - particularly when patients, like my son, are from a regional area. Not good enough!!

NEGLIGENCE. The most awful experience of my life. A few weeks I came in with concerns about my ear infection not being cleared up by antibiotic eardrops with excessive ear ringing and so on. The doctor responded by giving me more ear drops and instructing me to take ototoxic ear drops for further two weeks (which doctor did not mention, i had to look up myself). I continued to do so, yet my hearing did not return until stopping the medicine after 6 weeks of being forced to take ototoxic ear drops for my ears. After this, I have experienced facial numbness, vertigo, nausea, facial swelling, ear ringing, headaches and so on. I came back to the hospital yesterday and they refused to do any tests on me or check if I am okay even though my symptoms can be a sign of something fatal. They never bothered to discharge me with any information on what to do if my symptoms turn for the worse, and honestly they just basically kicked me out of the hospital with a 'referral for an MRI'. I called the other wing of the hospital regarding this referral and they insisted they do not know who the doctor is who referred me and they do not accept Referrals from the Emergency department. So my entire day yesterday was for nothing, I received no treatment, no diagnosis and a fake referral. This is disgusting. The worst hospital i been in my entire life. They cannot even diagnose your condition and basically just take on patients with easy cases like broken arms or legs. True medical emergencies are deemed to difficult for them to diagnose. Hopefully I will not pass away soon otherwise my family will be taking this hospital to court.

I got the COVID test here on 28/12 at 1pm and got the result on 29/12 at 10pm. The overall experience is really good with friendly staff and good service. Even though the queue was really long (I waited for 4 hours), the result came back after 33hrs. I know it’s really busy atm so I really appreciate all the hard work from all healthcare workers and staff 🧡 I would recommend going there early and bringing umbrella just in case it gonna rain.

Very poor communication of the hospitals behalf in regards to accessing a dying patient. Having no staff available to enquire about visiting a loved one over the phone is a JOKE! The so called “compassionate reasons” you talk about on your answering machine is pointless if you don’t have a person readily available to answer your queries. Is there a number available to speak to the person in charge of these decisions so I am able to see my sister before she dies?

Absolutely horrible experience. I came into the hospital at around 6 am with extreme fatigue, shortness of breath and confusion, At that point I was recovering from covid but I didn’t have the virus in my body anymore, the symptoms were possibly from my anxiety. I was put into a covid ward in a makeshift room with blood on the floor, no water, no blankets. I was panicking, feeling absolutely hopeless, cold and tired.I stayed there for more than 2 hours with no care, no one came to check on me, no one brought me water until I’ve asked for it. I understand my case was not priority and I understand they are understaffed and trying to do their job the best they can. But I am honestly traumatised, I didn’t feel heard, I didn’t feel taken care of and felt completely in despair. It is scary that mental health is not treated as importantly as physical health. Eventually I left to try to go to a GP instead, as staying in that situation was worse for my recovery. I would have rather someone told me that I would have to wait long with no care than to stay there suffering alone and unattended . I could have been home or could find another place to go. I suggest being more transparent with patients who seek immediate non life threatening care.

Wonderful hospital. Emergency staff amazing when I was taken in. Doctors checked for absolutely everything. This costed me NOTHING. The nurses up on the wards are heroes. They are working so many shifts to keep up with demand. We should salute them and also the doctors. RPA is a world class hospital. HOW GRATEFUL WE SHOULD ALL BE FOR BEING SO WELL LOOKED AFTER FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE.

I am not Medicare user and I have been here today for almost 5 hours now! . I have massive blood clots in my coughing today, totally scared, came to help and they put me on quarantine room . I am seeing patients even before me coming and go.I am under OSHC and I feel the treatment is completely different towards me(in the to worse way) They just put me to wait and I am still here after 4 hours and half to wait one x-ray result and Covid swab test that I to beg someone to do mentioned several times I am coughing blood and had close contact! Awful experience. Hope not to come back so soon and WANT TO HEAR SOMEONE RESPONSIBLE W H Y we are treated us overseas student as we are NOTHING here! (And of course invoice charge to pay 100%) . They made me sign papers with my credit card beforehand. Royal Prince Alfred, in my point of view, waiting after every patient coming and go, this is just discrimination and lack of care with overseas students! 😑⚠️😞

Their Patient Billing department really did me dirty. As a non-Native English speaker I really appreciate to have my answers short and clear. One of the female operators just kept giving me long and repetitive answers that don’t have a conclusion. It was really confusing and misguiding. The worst thing is that, once the operator found out that I (but definitely she) had trouble making things clear, she gave me the WORST response I could EVER imagined any service industry can do. She PRETENDED not hearing me for a few seconds although nothing ever went wrong in my communication device. And she just HANG UP LIKE THAT. What a brilliant and clever way to get rid of a “troublesome” customer. I felt extremely offended by this act. But at the same time I must applaud for her cleverness to did me dirty like this. If you have trouble explaining things to me, feel free to switch to another competent operator. Don’t get me wrong the hospital is good, but they have some really questionable phone-line operators. For those who questions what I’ve asked. I just want to know how many bills that I need to pay and how much I own them. Such simple questions took her 200 words to explain. I only need numbers.

This was my first time to this hospital and to an emergency department. I was pleasantly surprised with the considerate , empathetic and prompt care I received. Went for a covid vaccine. Staff were unattentive and werent giving clear directions. Staff who were standing around the direction points were busy looking at thier phone rather than helping people to get the right direction. It was already very confusing as you have to walk pass the parking load, walk down the stairs and unreasonably asked to walk through a long walking path when only a few people waiting on the waiting line. If I have a choice to get the second dose elsewhere, I would def not go there.

I had my first dose of Pfizer at RPA yesterday. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Although they had to move us through a lot of different rooms and locations, we were always told exactly where to go next and what information they needed from us patients. Never will I EVER go back to this hospital What ever happened to privacy???? Everyone needs to hear what is wrong with you, instead of going into a room they come to the waiting area to discuss the reason your there !!!! to the triage nurse that was on this evening who was so rude… listen, you don’t like your job, do something else, because you really are miserable and you take it out on patients. This poor lady who did not understand much English sitting next to me, had been there for 7 HOURS. When she approached the rude nurse, who’s name I will not mention, she told her to sit down and wait her turn lol 7hrs!!!!! So we got up and left after waiting for 3 hrs RPA Emergency - you need help

My dad is going through liver cancer and the care and respect the staff show to each patient is phenomenal. Our case manager responds promptly and ensures everything goes smoothly. Parking is easy and accessible. It gets busy but that's understandably because it's a public hospital.

To whom it may concern, It has taken me a while to write this complaint as reliving the traumatic experience again was upsetting to me. On the 16th August 2017, I gave birth to my baby girl via C Section. I was at RPA hospital for 5 days at the time. During that time I have never been treated so appalling. Having had a C section, I was in a great deal of pain, the staff however, didn’t seem to care as they were over an hour late delivering my pain medication on day 1. This one nurse, took 16 hours to change my sanitary pad which is extremely unhygienic. This same nurse, when I called and asked help to breast feed told me “I need to learn on my own”. Being a new mum and not being able to feed my baby properly was devastating and the fact I was refused help breaks my heart. After a few days I gave info formula I was to upset to try. On day 2. The nurse told me I need to let her know when I needed to go to the toilet so she can check my first urine sample and help me get up. I pressed the buzzer as I was asked. 1.5 hours later, nobody came to help me. My husband then grabbed a nurse to assist who came in and said “what do you want you aren’t my patient”. I then burst into tears. Instead of helping me she went to the hospital psychologist. This psychologist came down and asked me “am I going to harm my baby”. I was appalled and he made me feel helpless. The lack of help was devastating. I had blood on my sheets and asked could they please change them, the nurse pointed to my husband and said “get your husband to do it”. One night I asked for water and the nurse also said “get your husband to get it”. .Now suffering PTSD and having to be on medication, What was meant to be the best few days of my life turned out to be the worst. Please do something about the treatment of patients because I don’t want any lady who has just given birth to be treated in this way.

The nurses went out of their way to help and support they are worth their weight in gold and should get a pay rise. The doctors are doctors overpaid and underworked LOL The hospital food is atrocious on the first day you will be fine as the effects Of the anaesthetic you will have no taste. If you’re able to walk go to the front of the hospital turn right and go to 7/11 and you will be okay

Waited for 5 hours for cleaning wounds from dog bite, from 9.30pm till 3.30am. (Cleaning took 10min). Nurses put bandage so tight. It increased pain and swelling. I wish I visited emergency in city, less than 3km away.

Go anywhere else if you have the option.!! I regret having my surgery here. Waited for surgery with a open wound for 3 days (alone because of covid). The nurses are rude and the anaesthesiologists I was unfortunate enough to get was a total creep. I was given no pain killers after surgery, which has been just awful. Very upset with the whole experience, staff are uncaring, patronising and cruel. Save yourself a lot of pain and stress, dont go here.

We booked for Pitzer here. My boyfriend had serious allergy to another vaccine before, so we feel much safer if we are in a famous hospital. Everything is well organized, staff is friendly. Very good idea for different stickers wearing on clothes so the staff can tell what situation you are in. The only thing I feel mad is a woman staff’s reaction (not a doctor, not sure she is a nurse or a social worker). When she heard he had allergy before. She said the Pitzer is totally different to the vaccine he took before. HOW DARE YOU SAY SO. Did you do any research? Can you be responsible if otherwise? And then she talked around to other staff about his allergy history and showed a kind of we-worry-too-much attitude. I regret that I did not get her name. Disgusting.

Absolutely love the midwives at this hospital however the loss of 2 stars in in regards to the women whom they have working at the front for checking in & temperature screening. So because I’m not vaccinated my check in process didn’t give me the “green tick” and getting the vaccine is something that I wanted to discuss at my appointment with my midwife that day. I could provide my negative COVID test as requested by my midwife who already knew I wasn’t vaccinated. So this women at the front door asks if I intend on getting it. (I do NOT need to discuss this this her) she proceeds to tell me that her daughters have had it during pregnancy and in a sarcastic tone says “nothing has happened to them” and tries to again, offer me the vaccine and pamphlet after I politely declined. My response to her daughters was “good for them”. She couldn’t look at me, and was fluffing about not sure what to do.. it seems she has no idea. This is completely unacceptable and out of line. I’m allowed to come to my appointment regardless of my vaccination status, especially when I’m here to see my midwife to discuss my private health issues with her. This was the second time in this week I’ve had to visit the hospital and the first lady at the front door had the very same demeanour. Unless stated from our health care provider at the hospital not to attend appointments if unvaccinated, no one else should be questioning it especially in such a rude and degrading way. Absolutely disgusting, completely unprofessional.

Many thanks to all concerned with our recent experience with RPA. Early morning emergency phone contact to RPA Healthdirect hotline generated comforting engagement with the telephone operator, a quick ambulance attendance, excellent attention from paramedics, quick assessment and emergency admission, full range of tests and admission to a neurology ward by early afternoon in the midst of full demand on the hospital emergency department due to the Covid crisis. Overnight stay. Extensive Neurologist assessment the following morning, extensive Registrar communication with patient relatives, booking of follow up tests and linking with the expert RPA Stroke Clinic, extensive Discharge Referral reporting to the GP along with identification of an unrelated potential health issue. We can't praise enough the initial telephone operator, the ambulance paramedics, the emergency department and the overall respect and treatment experienced.

My husband had the worst hospital experience ever. Treatment included antibiotic drips. He received four on the first day. During that day he suffered increasing intense pain from the spreading infection. He told the staff and the doctor who came to prepare to insert the drip and asked for medical advice. No advice or attendance from a doctor was provided. Next morning he was told the services to him by the hospital had been cancelled - there would be no further drips and he could go home as he was told he was well even though the treatment had not been completed (at least two further doses were meant to have been provided). Cancellation of service was without any consultation or consent and this was the response to the concerns about the pain. All this after one day's treatment. His fist is now swelling and he can't close or use it and he is going to have to seek treatment at another hospital. How could this happen? It is totally unacceptable. The other issue is the medical record provided on discharge was by a doctor who he had never met. Had he been older or medically vulnerable, he could have collapsed at home.

A shout out to Dr Madeleine Gare, Yvonne, Rosie, Liam, from the emergency department, for their care and professionalism when my daughter experienced chest pains while in uni. The team is obviously busy at their jobs, but still managed to care for my daughter and the many many other patients, many whom are in distress. Thanks again to the emergency department at RPAH.

I fell over and smashed my face on the concrete and was taken to this hospital. I was treated like garbage and one of the younger doctors gave me a injection in my arm by punching the needle into my arm whilst holding it in his fist. The senior doctor physically assaulted me to which I made a report to the police. As I was hesitant to make the complaint I left it too late for the police to do anything. Worst experience in all my life. I left in tears.

Left outside the hospital unable to carry my belongings while they argued with me about using their “precious “ wheelchair??? Disgusting 🤮 personal to say the least!!!!

Typical public hospital from our government. Trash! Emergency nurses were good but good luck getting any treatment. Drs think they're demi-gods & will continually speak over you and not listen. Junkies fighting each other in emergency while they're chasing pills. Wanted to get out of that trash hole so fast I left without taking the catheter out. Never again going there! Tax dollars at work at its finest.

Went in for an xray, for my coccyx and told to sit and wait (smart) I would been seen within 2 hours, waited for over 4 hours and they took an unnecessary blood test, and botched it, covering me in blood, didn't get seen to. I could've spent this time booking a GP for a refferal to a radiologist. Terrible duty of care.

Saved my life! Thank you Prince Alfred Hospital, especially the cardiac team. I'm in my mid-late twenties and I had a heart attack. I was lying on the floor feeling like I was paralyzed by the pain, alone, for 1.5 hours before my girlfriend came home & found me. She called an ambulance and within an hour or so I already had a stent placed in my artery by the team at the RPA and was in the recovery phase. I'm extremely grateful! Thank you very much to the Royal Prince Alfred hospital and all of their employees.

My mum and I witnessed Registered Nurse Gerald on Ward 6EAST belittle two patient transport officers who were picking up a patient in August 2020. Had a very bad experience today at maternity ward 5East2 the nurse over there misbehaved me when wanted to meet my loved one. I understand the situation now we have been going through this pandemic, but there is a way of explaining things. When I insisted politely the nurse called there incharge and the incharge herself misbehaved me more as if I came there to spread virus. They all shouted and again threaten me to call security. That was it. Such a horrible place never going back.

I’m disgusted in the way I was treated on the 4th July. I was made to squat on a bedpan in a corner of a room to urinate, two male nurses present, a young woman was also made to do the same, a male patient also in room. I had a curtain screen on wheels pulled around me. I had to sit in a chair from midnight until 11am the next day when I was discharged! Apparently patients should only be in there for 4 hours and no toilet facilities are provided, the staff did say they have mentioned it to management. This is the beginning of my complaint but feel I had to put this on your site as I hope you haven’t and don’t treat other people in this way.

I was cared for exceedingly well by the nurses and the specialist plus the future wasn't going to be positive. Two specialists and their teams were involved and being a registered nurse I knew what was ahead of me. I felt truer acknowledgment and respect and I told noone that I was a nurse because it can cause the nurses to think you are watching their every move. They eventually worked out I nursed by the questions I asked. I got away with it for a couple of weeks because I was so unwell all I could manage was trying to breath ☺ . I highly recommend RPA and they have offered every assistance possy. I was in another Sydney health system and am so extremely happy and reassured. Thanks to all who cared for me

I was admitted to the ED due to a broken ankle and ended up spending 5 days in RPA to wait for an available surgeon, time allocation and bed for the surgery. Due to the national-wide shortage of staff and the high amount of daily emergencies, the process took much longer than expected. However, during my stay there, all the nurses, student nurses, doctors and other staff were incredibly hospitable and kind and friendly that I was in awe. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to nurses Christian, Mark, Simon, Wang, Irina, Suarez, doctors Simon, James, Leslie, Gupta, Franks and many more that I couldn’t memorise all. Thank you so much for taking care of me during my stay despite the intense daily pressure you face everyday at work. P/s: About the hospital food options, since I am a vegetarian, it would be lovely if the vegetarian sandwich can have some plant-based protein sources in it. Or there is alternative milk (fortified soy milk?) available beside dairy as well since the juices and yoghurt are very high in sugar and some patients are lactose intolerant.

Heartfelt gratitude to the amazing frontline health care professionals at this hospital. My husband and I have both needed emergency care within the last month - I for concussion after hitting my head and my husband for a suspected heart attack. The staff were amazing - did their best to get us triaged and seen by a doctor and conducted thorough tests to pin point the problem and allay our fears of “the worst”. They were working under such terrible circumstances - extremely crowded waiting room and emergency department, many police cases and many people in distress and pain. The covid crisis has made their life so difficult is largely caused by people who refuse to wear masks and socially distance as though we no longer had a pandemic to worry about. You see the folly of this self centred attitude when you need hospital care at a time when there are staff shortages due to covid and wards filled with covid sufferers. On average more than 150 people are dying every week of covid in Australia. Its not over yet despite what self serving politicians are saying. Wear a mask on public transport and in crowded spaces, socially distance and Isolate if you are sick. Show respect for our overworked healthcare professionals - you never know when you or someone you care about will need hospital care urgently. Thankyou and bless you all at RPA.

They answered the phone to stop it ringing, I could hear them speaking to each other about other patients and what was going on but no one would answer me. Horrible way to treat people who are enquiring about their family and wellbeing. I stayed on the phone for almost five minutes trying to get someone’s attention and talking to myself and no one ever answered me.

I endured a frustrating ordeal today at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, spending a total of four hours seeking assistance for my ear infection. Initially, I waited for half an hour in the general ER, followed by an additional hour in the pediatric ER, where I was weighed and questioned about my condition. Unfortunately, after investing an additional two and a half hours, all I received was ad hoc advice, with no concrete solution. My request for additional nasal spray, which I hoped would alleviate my ear discomfort, was met with promises that were never fulfilled. This experience was reminiscent of the challenges often associated with public hospitals.

The best experience ever at RPA Emergency. I have been to RPA ED more times than I can remember. Usually the ED staff are overworked, under-resourced and really stretched. Waiting times are usually 5+ hours. This time we came in by ambulance. My daughter had dislocated her knee and was in awful pain. The ED was unusually quiet. Nursing staff were great as per usual. The Registrar Zoe Lambert was thorough and a very clear communicator. Pain relief was given and the Xray happened quickly. Discharge plan for MRI and breakthrough endone with 2 weeks off work was completed and we were were home within 2.5 hours. AMAZING!

Bad experience of whom seeking for the emergency medical treatment service. I am much more depressed after visiting this hospital. I have experiences in uk emergency hospitals and they won’t question the patient why they are here ( as I mentioned in other comments) . There’s song playing in the waiting area however the reception isn’t nice and being meanly to non-native speakers. I would say it’s a particularly discriminate of non- natives speakers hospital. Anyway, if foreigners or nonresidents went here, there might be terrible experience ruining the whole day 👍

I advise nobody with an emergency should go to er department of this hospital. Made everyone wait for over 6 hours. You'd think a country like Australia would have at least a tolerable healthcare system. Not even third-world countries have this level of negligence. If they need more doctors, they should. This is not a way. You should not be allowed to have an emergency room.

All the doctors and nurses were so kind. Even if you speak English, medical terms are unfamiliar to you. please! Use Korean service I had the surgery comfortably because they paid so much attention to every little detail. To those on student visas, don’t endure pain and end up in even greater pain. Because it is covered by student visa insurance. I hope you get treatment!!
