Hospital General hospital

😠 Absolutely the worst hospital I have ever seen or been to. Go literally anywhere but here. Edit: by no means am I over exaggerating about how how bad this place is, none of the staff speak descent English and the place is filthy. Next time you are feeling unwell, catch a flight from Sydney Airport... People often mention hospital, staff, time, nurses, Concord, doctors, surgery, patient, experience, doctor,

This review is for Neurology North on Level 5 of the hospital. I was admitted here on Friday afternoon for a lumbar puncture as a last minute add on patient. Procedure was deferred to Saturday morning. So I ended up staying the night. Upon arrival to the neurology ward the staff were so welcoming, bubbly, happy and very attentive. They escorted me to my room and immediately made me feel comfortable. Nurses honestly do not get enough credit. I have never seen such a warm, compassionate, friendly, and genuine bunch of nurses in my life. The level of care they provide is next to none and no job is too difficult for them. Saturday morning I was spoken to by a wonderful Neurologist Dr Hurelbrink and her registrar who had to do a few tests on me before my lumbar puncture. The lumbar puncture was performed by Dr Kennith who made me feel very comfortable and safe in his hands. The procedure went well and I was discharged from hospital a couple hours later. My experience here was excellent and i thank all the admin staff, nurses and doctors who were involved in my care.

Edit: by no means am I over exaggerating about how how bad this place is, none of the staff speak descent English and the place is filthy. Next time you are feeling unwell, catch a flight from Sydney Airport to Kabul Afghanistan and check yourself into a taliban run hospital, I can guarantee you better facilities and staff. I was forced to wait almost 11 hours before a Dr saw me then he realized that I needed immediate surgery.

Is Concord in a War Zone? Or part of a 3rd World Country? Not sure what's happening in this hospital but they REALLY NEED to improve their services AND TRAINING. My client was taken to Emergency, when I visited I entered through the Main Entrance and went through the normal Covid Protocols except they don't use The Services NSW QR Code and have their own prehistoric system just to make it hard on visitors. I was then directed to Emergency, where for some unknown reason I had to go through the whole procedure AGAIN. The Emergency Dept. was full, I approached the window and there were literally a dozen staff stuffed in that area doing who knows what. Eventually I was allowed to see my client, the nurses inside were quite friendly but weren't sure if or when he'd be admitted as the hospital was FULL. The next morning I called to see how he was doing and was told by someone who could barely speak English that no one by that name was in the hospital, they then just hung up on me. I called back to complain and again they hung up. This is terrible customer service. I called a third time and finally was put through. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! They have a HUGE PROBLEM with their switchboard. I called several days in a row to inquire about my client and was put on hold for up to half an hour, transferred to the wrong departments/wards, hung up on and treated rudely. They never say "good morning, how can I help you?" or anything resembling normal common courtesy or good manners. Several of these staff cannot even speak English properly or have very thick accents. To make matters worse they lost my clients personal belongings when transitioning to another ward. This included his wallet, along with his bank cards and other ID, mobile phone and other important items. Staff don't seem to share information or consider it important. I've had to repeat myself at least half a dozen times about my clients medical conditions and they always act surprised as though it's the first time they've heard this "breakthrough" information!!!! It's exasperating and extremely frustrating to say the least. If it was possible not to give any stars (or negative stars) I would.

Had foot surgery here. Was told prior how the surgery is very painful but it would be okay because they had a pain management plan. I'd be given a drip. Anyway, woke up post surgery in unbelievable pain and no drip. Only allowed 1 endone every 6 hours which may as well have been a panadol. The doctor refused to see me for a full day. I was wailing all day, I could hear the nurses and the physios begging this doctor to come see me to manage my pain - he never showed up. They FINALLY agreed to bring in another pain consultant only when I refused to move until they did (they needed me to stand up to discharge me). I was discharged with insufficient pain relief and was back in ED 2 days later (in the waiting room for 12 hours) just to get some more and they sent me home again. It was the absolute worst 2 weeks of my life. I never saw my doctor again, he didn't show up to my follow up appointment. All the other staff were difficult and rude and I ended up stuck in my wheelchair for 9 months (supposed to be 6 weeks) because I couldn't get hold of anyone. Literally not 1 person followed up with me. I ended up seeing another podiatrist in a different hospital who gave me more information in one appointment than I had received in a year from the previous doctor. The absolute only saving grace was the physio and nurses that cared for me. It couldn't have been easy dealing with me when the doctor refused to help. "Be a private patient in a public hospital" not sure I would ever do that again. This experience was horrendous. If I can save one person from going through this I will be happy. Please look around elsewhere. I will say that my feet did recover, no thanks to their post-surgery care. So I don't have any complaints about the surgery, only the care afterwards.

My experience at Concord Hospital was shocking and painful. I had a couple of surgeries for Kidney Stone. I must say that the Doctor performing the surgery might be very well known, but it is the aftercare that I received was appalling. I was advised to arrive at hospital in morning, soon I was taken inside and given a surgical dress to wear and a bed assigned. I was expecting that maybe in 30 minutes to an hour, I will be taken to surgical room.  Nearly 3-4 hours had passed, no one came, not even the nurse. I was thinking maybe they had forgotten me. It was shocking that no one came in those 3-4 hours to even advise on the expected time of surgery/reason of delay. Before the surgery, no Doctor talked to me to advise me on what I should expect in and after operation. I was given general anaesthesia, and all I remember that when I woke up, I was in excruciating pain and I found a container that they had put under my legs for me to urinate in. I was still very sleepy, could hardly see or understand much when some assistance doctor came and I think she was in a hurry to leave and was wearing a backpack. I could hardly understand what she was saying and she went away quite quickly. No assurance was provided if I’ve understood or what trauma I should expect, coming ahead. It was shocking to see that I wasn’t prescribed any medication apart from one. I had to go through extreme ongoing pain and on top of that, extreme continuous burning relating to urination. After surgery, for 2 days, I vomited continuously and I wasn’t even given any medication to stop it. I had to go to my GP for rescue and he did prescribe me medicines, which helped only a bit. I was given a printed paper with some details as to what to expect, but hey, a google research and a printed paper is no substitute for a Doctor’s direct talk, advice and prescription. I was asked to do a Urine test, which I did. I was told that a urologist will give me a call – no one called me. I emailed the nurse, still I got no call. Eventually I had to go to my GP again, he advised me that I had very high level of inflammation in urine, hence all the worst experience I was having. Moving on to the second surgery, I thought I had learnt a lesson; so I asked before the surgery that I want to talk to the Doctor. Thankfully Doctor did come and talk to me and I was shocked to hear from her that I could have been given medicines to help me relieve my pain and burning a bit. It was worst 2 weeks for me. I asked the Doctor this time to please prescribe me medicines after surgery this time. Fast forward, after the surgery this time – I asked the Nurse that I want to talk to Doctor this time and get the medicine. Nurse said that Doctor can’t come and talk. I was shocked (yet again). Luckily after some time Doc was passing by and saw me, I quickly reminded her that I want medicines this time, she said ok. An hours or two had passed, I still hadn’t received any medicines. I asked the Nurse again, she said that she had checked and Doctor didn’t write down any notes or prescribe any medicines. I kept waiting, chased up the nurse again – nothing, no medicine – even after this time the Doctor had told me on my face that I will be given medicine. It was getting too much for me, I couldn’t sit and keep chasing and taking stress, I asked to be discharged and went to home. I had again the same episode of extreme nausea and vomiting for two days, couldn’t eat anything or drink much. I had to write this, so that someone might read and take a notice. Maybe the Doctors even don’t know how bad the aftercare is, I hope someone can take action to improve the experience of patients. Thanks.

Worst experience ever of my life in a hospital. This morning pruning an hedge with the help of a ladder I fell from more or less 1.80 meters high and hit my back and head. One of my colleagues rush me to the Emergencies in Concord Hospital and after 3 hours of waiting Dr. Danielle Martinez visits me only with the use of her hands and discharges me after 3 minutes, because the Hospital was to busy. I didn't get a head check, as it is swollen and still sore. No a blood test. No a spine check. Nothing. In the Discharge Referral she doesn't even mention the pain in the head. She treated me like I was worthless. Healthcare should be very different. You should be ashamed and with you the people who allow you to work like this. 20/02/2023

Lady who takes bookings at Radiology is extremely rude. She will not give you the opportunity to ask questions and cut you off in mid sentence. Be nice to patients and their families to receive the same respect back,.

Thank you everyone at Concord Hospital. I presented at emergency with what turned to be a ruptured appendix with a hernia thrown in for good measure. I was treated with kindness and respect and such professionalism the whole time I was there through emergency operation and recovery. And I witnessed how well they also treated everyone else on my ward. They deserve our praise as well as a pay rise!

Worst emergency department I have ever visited. Waiting room was empty but still somehow waited 3.5 hours. Once seen, they didn't provide me with any fluids or appropriate pain relief. They Inserted a cannula for no reason, it wasn't even used. Couldn't even understand the Dr half the time. Dr asked me what treatment I'd like and what treatment I usually get as if she had no idea what to do. I Left feeling the same way as arrived. So i went to a different hospital, where I was actually treated. Don't visit here, it's a waste of time! Would give 0 stars if possible.

Worst Hospital ever! 😖 Admitted via Emergency as a Private Patient for 5 days. Terrible communication between the AM & PM team. Thankfully the nurses had excellent bedside manner and made the stay tolerable. They managed to stuff up my special dietary meal 3 times! Apparently the kitchen closes at 7.30pm. Which is prime dinner time. Rather strange. Food is truly terrible! Their discharge process is painfully slow. Was scheduled to be picked up and left without my discharge papers after waiting for more than 3.5 hours! Best to get discharged before organising your ride home. Avoid this hospital at all costs to avoid unnecessary stress and disappointment.

Best hospital in Sydney! I've had a close family member who is very unwell, a really tough situation to deal with. I would like to make a special mention to the Social worker Tim Hughe (and the team in general) who has helped us navigate options for my family member. The level of care he and the team have provided, my family and I will forever be grateful for. Thank you so much for your hard work and for caring so much and doing your job from the heart.

Please DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU are in an emergency. There is not a porter, or any assurance when you get there with an ambulant patient. I had to wheel my mum with broken bones through an obstacle course of barricades, rubber mats, ramps, tents, footpaths with a wheel chair that couldn’t even traverse over all the obstacles, just so they could take our temperature. Still no porters to help in anyway. I had to do it on my own as the ambulance was going to take too long to get to our house. There was one doctor who came out after 1.5 hrs to call out for a patient who had clearly left the building, the same dr came back three time calling for the same patient who was not there over the next half hour, while there was a room full of sick and elderly patients at 11pm. Mind blowing stuff. When you go to concord hospital, you might as well be in your own, so do not go. It’s a joke!.

Rheumatology Department Dr Barry Kane is totally arrogant and rude. Every single time he saw me, he made me feel like l was some kind of drug addict! Plus making out that nothing is wrong with me! OMG how totally disgusting of this person to treat a patient such a way. All the other doctors and staff are totally amazing and the lady on the reception desk deserves a pay rise. I was not happy with the treatment from this Specialist and l will not be seeing him again. A person know their own body and anyone dealing with something happening in their body don't stop until you get the right Medical Team treating you as it could be something life threatening depending on your medical situation. A see a different specialist at Concord Hospital for a separate medical condition and he is totally brilliant. It's sad that some professionals think they know it all and don't even let you speak during a consultation! Shocking Dr Barry Kane - shame on you!

Went in for a Cervical Foraminotomy Operation. For a public hospital I feel I got what Medicare pay for. Everything went smooth on arrival. The staff were all lovely, got an early time slot so i guess that made things run fairly smoothly for me. Staff in operating theatre let me pick some music to play whilst waiting and they kept me warm, (comfort is important to me as my extremities get cold easily) Nurse straight after coming out of operation was very helpful, getting me plenty of pain relief and food which was much appreciated. On the ward the nurses were lovely, no one was short or rude, they seemed busy but helped me when I needed it most. During the night the night staff were loud, so I didn't get any sleep even with Endone on board however the manager on the ward the next day reassured me that she needed to give her staff a reminder about being quieter at night. She didn't brush my comments under the rug or make excuses which was nice. On one occasion I was left hanging to go to the toilet as the nurse did not come back for quite some time to help me (like she said she would) but if I was really in need I could have just buzzed the nurses, I instead took myself to the toilet carefully. One nurse was lovely enough to help me out out with some hot water for a tea when I really needed it as the food trolley was no where to be seen. Overall my stay was well executed and the staff were lovely and helpful. All the staff (OT, Physio, doctor, etc) that needed to see me before I left the hospital did it in a timely fashion. In fact I sustained some superficial electric burns on my face and chest whilst being operated on (I know it sounds terrible, but it wasn't that bad) and the anaesthetist made sure that I was seen by a dermatologist before leaving the hospital. Felt very reassured on my discharge. I had a shoulder operation through a private hospital only 6 month earlier and going through the public system for this current operation I really could not fault it. I was quietly impressed. Thank you to the operating team, and the staff at North Ward Level 5. And all the admin staff that I have had to deal with on my ins and outs from the hospital thus far. :)

Don't know where all these complaints are coming from. Everyone I have encountered here has been lovely. People need to understand just how much pressure these nurses and doctors are under and how much stress it is causing them. Even if they were edgy or whatever, we all need to remember that they are humans too. Humans that are taking on the role that 99% of us couldn't handle for a day. God bless you all.

Made me waiting while bleeding for 5 hours and after all the waiting they cleaned the wound and asked me to come the next day to the plastic clinic. In the plastic clinic the staff is very rude and the wound started bleeding again and they saw it bleeding and instead of finishing anything faster they asked me to wait again and they don’t know for how long I will be waiting! Is it even a hospital?! And also, the lady in the reception desk of the plastic clinic is super rude! IDK how the hell she is working in a hospital and dealing with patients everyday!!

I'm only giving 5 stars because of the staff. I came in at 10:45pm the other night as I needed stitches. I wasn't seen to until about 8am the next morning. The triage nurse on shift that night was an absolute angel, from the minute I walked in to the very last minute I saw her. Sadly I didn't get her name. She watched me sit in the waiting room the whole night, I guess they had no beds available earlier. Around 730am she came in and took me to a bed and apologized genuinely and told me it had been a rough night. Not long after a very nice nurse Massimo came in, changed my gauze and got me some much needed painkillers. Doctor Cristina came in and stitched me up with class and a great sense of humour. These 3 made my morning. They were kind, understanding, compassionate and professional people. Thank you guys, yous certainly made the long depressing night worth the wait! ❤️🌹

I never write reviews but the staff deserves one. I called in the ambulance 10:30 at night because I was panicking and home alone. They send a team of female officers to get me which made me feel very comfortable. They told me everything would be fine if I stayed home (as I was insisting on it) but insisted me to go to the hospital. The staff at the hospital took every measure to check on me and see if everything was alright. I stayed the night. Each at every employee worked to their level best. This review may seem a lot, but it meant a lot for me since I was alone and scared last night. Thank you so much guys 🥺❤️

Arrived at 10pm needing stitches in multiple head wounds after being assaulted by a stranger, covered in my own blood. Absolutely no urgency, zero pain management, nobody cleaned the wound, no ice pack for swelling was offered, and still haven't been seen to get stitched yet (it is 4am the next day as I write this). I would have gone to another hospital after the first few hours of waiting had the paramedics not advised on immediate treatment at the closest hospital.

I have read a lot of negative reviews on concord hospital site & feel disgusted. With the negativity of some people who criticise this hospital which is one of the best in Australia. My experience here are vast with heart & Kidney problems & recently a stroke which I spent near 8 weeks in hospital with first class care, food & doctors & plenty of occupational health & safety aftercare which got me back to normal. Most othe counties in our world only dream of having a hospital system like ours . Please people recognise & appreciate what we have

Just here at the emergency dep, been waiting for few hours and nothing done yet, they're saying that it depends on the urgency. For what I see I'm totally in pain and other people who arrived after me, apparently not so in pain like me, are going first and this is becoming a forever waiting. I see a man leaving saying to the nurse that he feels well now..he simply gave up and probably going to another hospital. If you have an emergency don't go there.

Taday, 26 of August, I had oppoitment at a fracture ward of Concord Hospital. As I have broken shoulder. The young doctor wanted me to put the musk on the nose, but I coudn't stay like this for a long time, and had to take breath. So, he kicked me out of his room, without any questions. I did covid test yesterday. No more human rights and care. Something wrong with the people. Broken bones doesn't count any more as a problem. Only Covid exists. Whatever. I am at home now. I don't know doctor's name. He didn't tell me. Who am I to tell me the name! He is young, unprofessional, arrogant person. Good, that I did't share with him my health. Oppoitment was at 9 am. May be, one day his mother will have this experience.

Am reviewing the eye centre at concord hospital. Very old building, ill-tempered, impatient phone staff when you call up. had the young-ish guy cut me off whenever i tried to speak and then hang up on me when i called him out on it. then he put the line on message service only because he couldn't be bothered taking calls. put in a complaint about him. seemed like senior management already knew about his problematic behaviour to no avail. the eye specialists there (ophthalmologists) are indifferent at best. they don't even try and hide it. both senior and trainee ones. you will likely get a trainee ophthalmologist who has no idea what they're doing and always has to refer to the senior one. seems like a waste of time. just an overall very uneasy feeling whilst you're there due to a sense of disorganisation, lack of professionalism and indifference towards patients. what is also suspect is that the head of the department who only comes in what seems like once a week also has his own private practice independent of the hospital. so if you ask for an appointment with him for clarity on the status of eye condition (only because the other staff seemed so bad), not only will he put you as his last priority but also when he finally sees you way past the allotted appointment time, he will try and sell you his services at his own practice. i mean, hardcore salesperson mode. seems like a very obvious conflict of interest. if you can, put this eye centre last. very underwhelming experience.

This review is for the nurse, Bingbing. He was very compassionate and was willing to take time out of his busy schedule to translate some things between my unwell grandma and me. Despite how strained the hospital’s resources are, I could tell that they were definitely doing their best to accomodate every patient. I feel comfortable knowing that my grandma is in good hands.

This review is for Dr Cameron Korb-Wells, his geriatric team at Concord Hospital, and all the nurses at the Acute Aged Health Ward 2A. My father was admitted to ward 2A on 30 Oct and passed away on 8 Nov. Dr Korb-Wells and his team of doctors showed a lot of care and professionalism during my father's last days despite the difficult situation we were experiencing. Dr Korb-Wells allowed dad to stay in a very nice and private single room until he passed, making it as comfortable as it could be for him, and for this we are forever grateful. All the nurses at ward 2A also deserve a lot of credit - they were very friendly and compassionate - easily the best nurses we have interacted with ever. The other specialists that visited including speech therapist when my dad had difficulty swallowing, and the palliative doctors were also extremely helpful.

This is such a great hospital - it's not the most ultra-modern hospital I've ever been to, but it has something that makes up for this 5 times over - the people who work there; they're all great. Really great. And it's across the board: admin and support staff, cleaners, people who work in the kitchens, cafes, pharmacy, students and registrars, technicians, Ambos, emergency workers, all the nurses and doctors, even (or especially!) the people who take you to and from surgery - everyone. It's truly amazing.

I cannot praise the staff here enough. Every single Dr, nurse, support staff etc are doing a wonderful job and their level of care is exceptional. Every time me or one of my family members is admitted here, we don't have to come back for the same thing because they always make sure we are healed. Yes, there can be long wait times occasionally, but that is the fault of the government for not putting enough funding into our health care system.

My Dad is 97 and was admitted with an UTI. He then got Covid was moved to a covid ward. Amazingly he recovered from covid but they didn't have a ward to move him to. He languished in the covid ward and developed a pressure sore on his sacrum. He also lost his mobility and became confused. Throughout this time his wife couldn't visit. Dad didn't understand what was happening. He finally moved to a general ward and was released to his wife a week later. He is a very thin shell of a man. Who can no longer communicate and requires everything to be done for him. Concord did not give the care required and any common sense and empathy does not exist. How can his wife physically and emotionally look after him?

Trying to get on to anyone other than switchboard is a nightmare. Phone constantly hung up on. 6 attempts or more this morning to speak to a patient. Last night just as bad To actually limit visitors to vaccinated still, when anyone catches or spreads it rings alarm bells on what this place is like and the treatment patients gets. My mum was meant to be taken to Royal north shore have no idea why she was taken here. Now to try to get her out of here.

The nursing staff here are very polite and professional. The doctors are reasonable but I received an injury by a trainee doctor. The wards can get cold. The food is ok but not enough of it. The hospital is very hard to navigate and the staff aren't friendly about giving directions. Covid screening staff are very rude.

Michelle the ED doctor that took care of me yesterday was the most thorough, caring doctor I have ever met!!! My husband's surgery got canceled with no new date and no paper work. We haven't been given the promise that the doctor will give us a call either. Their reasoning for canceling the surgery was 'Ran out of time, can't operate on you today'! The doctors were a joke, all the answers they have given us shows there is a very serious issue of communication amongst themselves. The doctor we spoke to told us, my husband will get operated the next day. Little did she know, my husband's doctor only works on Mondays!

not giving the hospital the star it deserves because of the administration staff being unreasonably impolite and unhelpful regarding money that they owe me back. just angers me that when we as patients have to pay on time or else end up getting bad credit score and when they have to refund its taking almost a year when payment of 14000 was made upfront. doctor did a good job but admin staff needs to be more better than what they are atm. we give respect to everyone in the hospital and expect the same back from the hospital.

Radiologist in level 1 named Young(korean looking guy) really unprofessional doing his job. Very rude, unfriendly, annoying, lack of explanation and lack of skill of handling patient. An ambulance took my mother from canterbury hospital to concord radiologist for ct scan.my mom was a patient and I told him that she doesnt speak english. He not bothered to explain what my mom going to do inside there, what injection and reaction that my mom gonna feel, and just hand over a paper for my mom to sign. When i ask him what that is to sign,he seemed annoyed that he has to explain things(which i think he MUST). At least explain to me as her son that accompanied her. The two lovely nurses from the ambulance that brought my mom over also feel sorry for me that i must have gone through this ugly behaviour situation. Never do a cT scan with Young. He is the worst human being i ever met.disgusting.

Had such a wonderful experience on Level 5. The surgical team and nurses (esp Peter) were absolutely amazing and the manager Rhea was fantastic. So patient and supportive the whole stay. We too were skeptical after the reviews but it was amazing.

A huge thank you to all at Concord Hospital, after I ended up in Emergency on Mothers Day 2021 with acute gastroenteritis, impacting on mobility! Brilliant, caring, compassionate doctors, nurses and CT specialists went to great lengths to look after me! Great meal service was a bonus!

Have no doubts why covid is keep spreading while lock down. Since you guys doesn't control it. Today I've got the test. There were people who keep putting mask down to wipe their runny nose. And you ask me sitting there for 15 mins.you don't give any restrictions while she put the mask down and talk to her husband. And there was a guy call someone and talk loudly. Behave yourself. Covid spread when you talk. You are at the test clinic.I will be really mad if I've got covid because of today's experience with this clinic.

My family had Zoom meeting with my mother's A/P Oncologist from Concord Hospital, who recommended admission. It took a couple of days for a bed to become available, understandable as Covid-19 is draining the health care facilities and the staff. We were told to arrive at a certain time for admission. The Oncologist was calling me while I we were waiting in Admissions for over 1hour 25min as they were on the ward and wanted to review my mothers condition. (They never did on the day) As my mother had just been given the diagnosis of Stage4 Mastic Cancer the treatment plan was given to us, as though (Concord Hospital ) would be a 'Holistic' Environment'. Meaning essential Pain relief Medication, Physical Therapy and Palliative Care, all available at (The Oncologist fingertip) Transported daily to RPA for Radiotherapy. In retrospect we were totally basking in the glow of 'what we thought' was a 'Professional Oncologist' who was looking out for the best Palliative Care treatment of our mother. Not once did the Oncologist physically meet with my mother. After 13 days of not being able to eat nor drink, post radiotherapy treatment she was discharged. The Nursing Staff on ward 5E, were not only rude and lacking in English language and nursing skill (Trainee's and Contractors ) My mother could not speak, drink, eat, walk, sit up, bathe, or toilet on her own. Nursing (Trainees) would walk past and as they were half out the ward, ask her if 'She's alright?' As she could only whisper, and was fading fast, they were in too much of a hurry to wait for the answer. All she wanted was to be propped up on her pillows, or given a cold cloth to place on her face etc etc.... My Mother never complains. When I ask her on a scale 1-10 what is her pain level it would be a 2, so as to not distress myself or her other children. For her to give me an account of the treatment she received in Concord Hospital was out of character. She expressed to me that she wished she had gone to RPA as the staff at Concord were so rude. They rushed her out of the ward on the day of discharge with a Canister of Oxygen after telling me I needed to enquire about obtaining our own to take home. To make Concord Hospital just that 'Little more Third World experience' In speaking with her Oncologist about why she was not given IV Fluids in 13 DAYS of admission, I was astounded to hear rote "We like to encourage our patients to eat and drink on their own" Clearly the Head Oncologist was not familiar with my mothers case - as she had not once been face to face with my mother except our Zoom meeting. If she had been, she would have been aware that my mother was unable to keep a half teaspoon of water down, let alone the 'Mashed' potatoes baby food, presented as Nutrition without bringing it back up again. To speak to the family member as though she was flicking through her 'Oncology 101 Book from Med School' was disturbing enough but the real observation of how Doctors are devoid of empathy compassion came with a reply email after I advised of my mothers passing and my request for Medical Records. Zero Condolences or Acknowledgment that a patient 'Under her care' had passed away so fast from onset of diagnosis. I would NEVER recommend both the Oncology Doctor nor Concord Hospital. There seems to be a general 'Protect at all cost' attitude to a request of A) Medical Records and B) Patient feedback in relation to a treating Doctors Professional standards. Avoid at all cost. Seek treatment from Doctors that you can obtain a First Hand referral from, because you aren't taught Empathy or Compassion (in Medical School) it needs to be a Real Emotion ,from within.

I rush my husband to emergency as he have severe stomach pain and breathing problem. I know I cannot enter or can go with him inside the hospital coz of the restriction. But the nurses there were so very rude. Questioning me why I am there (drop off point) and telling me if I know the stay at home policy. Hey, I can't let my husband come to hospital alone and let him drive himself that more dangerous. Is it bad dropping him and leave afterward? After my husband was released. Someone staff called him and its very rude as well knowing his details. Its your fault you didn't get his details before you release him.

healthcare system just needs to be improved in Australia, worse than 3rd world countries... Emergency means emergency. Not that hard to understand. That is why you have to wait up to 8 hours just to see a doc or even a nurse... The reason why there are names for the main entry and the emergency, if you want to see a doctor but you are not in an emergency status, they need yo send you to main entry or you need to assist yourself to decide and get yourself in. There is no point on putting everyone in to one waiting room. The staff were ok btw.

I was admitted last Friday for a finger cut and the staff and especially the attending physician were amazing. Despite the busy night, I was well looked after and kept upto date with what was happening, I know it was a very busy Friday night so I did understand if things took time. once again, 100% to the team at concord hospital emergency department, 200% to my ED physician, she was amazing.

DO NOT COME TO THE ED HERE YOU WILL BE WAITING FOR HOURS. I had a sub-par experience my first time but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and came here a second time for suspected DVT. Biggest mistake ever. Staff were dismissive and I felt like I wasn't listened to or supported. I was in immense pain and asked for an ice pack but got told to wait and the ice pack never came meanwhile the nurses outside were having a good laugh - completely forgot about me. I had come in at 11am and waited for more than 3 hours until I was the only person in the waiting area. Ultimately, I couldn't stay awake any longer and left at 2am completely horrified and disappointed. Nurses at the front desk were clearly tired but that's no excuse to dismiss someone's pain as non-critical. People aren't wrong when they call concord a 3rd world hospital and I genuinely believe they are tarnishing the reputation of Australia's world-class healthcare. Do yourself a favour and never come here.

I felt like I was treated like a parasite here. I came via ambulance due to non-stop vomiting. This was the second time in 6 months where the first visit was at St Vincents in the City. I told the young doctor that the doctors in St Vincent gave me a particular drug that stopped my nausea and vomiting. He just said ok and gave me something else which didnt work. I suggested to him 3 times over 6 hours to try what the doctor in St Vincents tried with success but he refused to listen. As a result, I vomitted violently and constantly for over 6 hours until he tried it as his last option. I was vomiting violently for hours and was too ill to get to the toilet. So I was vomiting on the floor into a sick bag. Nurse casually comes along and annoyingly asks what I am doing - clearly annoyed that my loud dry heaving noise was interrupting her chat with her colleagues. This was all when I was a patient. My mum was experiencing extremely severe vertigo for hours. She was fighting hard to handle the dizziness and nausea while vomiting every 40 minute or so. Doctor came, asked a few questions and said he will come back in half an hour to perform the epley maneveur. Several hours went by and mums condition went worse and my anxiety and stress was intensifying. The doctor walked past and I asked him if I could get some help. The ahole yelled at me saying "cant you see im busy?!". I have been ill in St Vincents and Sydney Day Hospital where the staff there were equally busy but were more emphatic in the way they treated me when I was a patient. I had to wait for a long time in all hospitals - thats fine because I respect resources need to go to the most urgent patients. But I will forever remember how the staff at Concord hospital made me feel at my most vulnerable and difficult moments.

Due to his age(92) and have a lots of health issues and Dementia but all the doctors from Emergency, Orthopaedic surgeon, Cardiologist and Anaesthetist they are take care of him very thoroughly. After the surgery, the staff from ICU, Ward 2C Acute Aged care and the Geriatric doctor look after him with care and patience. This is the best hospital

I would like to express my gratitude to the emergency staff at Concord Hospital. I took my wife there due to post covid related infection on Saturday the 11th of this month and the attention we received was amazing. Dr Hanes was assigned to us, and she not only shows empathy but was extremely friendly and very comprehensive. She went above and beyond all throughout while caring for my wife. Unfortunately, I don’t have the names of the nurses that also participated during our stay but they too deserve our thank gratitude. This is not the first time we attend Concord Hospital, and I cannot say we have ever been disappointed with their service and is due to this that this is always our first choice when deciding to visit an emergency department. Thanks again.

Absolutely disgraceful kicking a mental health patient out and telling them they need to find their own way home when they were told they would assist them with transport home!! Don’t allow the ambulance to take you to this hospital!! They don’t sanitise between patients and vomit bags were left on the floor !! I would never recommend this hospital!! I wouldn’t even give a 1 star rating! I was specifically told they could arrange patient transport when I was being taken there!

I have an appointment with Dr Pamela Howson at the breast clinic at 10:00 am today. It’s now 11:00 am and I am still waiting for her. I past her room and she had no patient at all, she was recording her previous case on the recording machine. So that’s ok to make people to wait over an hour! I worked in the health system before and recording is something doctors do after seeing patients not during! It’s bloody ridiculous

The worst hospital you can take your loved ones to. It was last Wednesday when my mother had a stroke and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. The doctor on duty put her in a stroke ward. I got a call from the finance team of the hospital trying to pursuade me to go as a private patient and I said that I would let her know. I believe my mother should have had a ECG done as a matter of urgency as well as an MRI, which they failed to do. An ECG should not have been difficult to perform. They kept saying that they would do one as soon as the MRI machine became available, which to my surprise did not get done till Friday afternoon and the bigger surprise came when they kicked us out of the hospital on the Friday evening saying that take her home. We were made to leave without any clear instructions and none of the doctors had the courtesy to explain the onward plan. The doctor on duty was Parastoo Jalilitabaei just came to the counter and passed on the reports to the nurse while I was standing there and did not deem it important to explain what was going on and why she was being discharged. Was it because we decided not to go as a private patient????? Neurologist, James Burrell did not think it was important to do the ECG???? The guess work was left for us to work out why and how she had the stroke. After taking her to do an MRI and an ECG we discovered that there was a small area of restricted diffusion in the periventricular frontal lobe, and the ECG suggested that there was a abnormal rhythm in the heart which could have led to the diffusion hence causing the stroke. If I have to work all this (don’t know if my guesswork is correct or incorrect), then I might as well be a doctor myself. Shame on you Concord Hospital and the treating Doctors and Juniors. I decided to ring the Registrar of the Hospital and lodge a complaint but was put through to a MR Dale who was not present and I had to leave a message which I did but did not hear from him. Health NSW and the Minster for Health need to intervene as I have heard some shocking stories about Concord hospital after my experience.

Excellent overall experience as a public patient here - once for a minor accident, ongoing for a continuing condition. For those who've been frustrated as seen in some reviews, remember the medical and support staff have big workloads, sometimes have rather outdated facilities, and have to make unenviable decisions to put some urgent needs ahead of other people who have been waiting.

Absolutely disgusted. I showed up to concord hospital multiple times with pain in my stomach, they asked me how many sexual partners I had been with and if it could be STDs they did not take me seriously and sent me home on many occasions. I went to another hospital and specialist and it turns out I had stage 3 ovarian cancer that had been there for years. They let student nurses work on me and try putting Cannulas in and I had blood dots in my arms and black and purple bruising and had to be put on expensive medication for it. DO NOT GO HERE

there is so many mixed reviews about concord hospital my personal experience is just as mixed too. for those wondering concord hospital is a learning hospital so there is often many nurses , nursing aids and students amongst the influence of the hospital's staff and system. i do agree in many ways the hospital does need and must be better but i have learnt to let that fly. i wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for concord hospital. having been a former in patient and outpatient overcoming what they do here is remarkable . i wouldn't encourage anyone to come to this hospital as it is still dirty , poorly run and unprofessional staff attention but it does have it's positives. certainly needs a lot more progress to even ever being considered a "good" hospital.

I understand that hospitals are under staffed and they only can do what they can do but what they can do needs to be done with compassion and respect towards the patient and (staff) to each other .. overall I had a terrible experience at day surgery .. 3rd time I was there over the last 2 years and my last experience was terrible ..

Been here a few times. All the staff are the best, from the porters and cleaners to the doctors and nurses. They always treat the patients kindly and courteously. There is a bit of waiting because obviously there is a staff shortage, but given the tough hours and with so many patients to get through, I think all the staff carry themselves exceptionally well. Lucky too have people like this.

I have had to attend this Hospital numerous times for different reasons of late. And every time, the staff have been lovely. I am not a fan of hospitals. Absolutely appalling place. A year ago I spent a week in there after becoming incredibly sick with a severe infection and no answers? So they miss diagnosed me with something else that made no sense what so ever. Later found out from my doctor I had toxic shock syndrome which they never even mentioned. Also a couple of days ago my second time back after landing on my ankle badly. I was told to go home and that it was just a sprained ankle. I went to my doctor the following day and got an altra-sound. Again turns out I had severely damaged the ligaments in my ankle and foot by ripping them off the bone and taking off bone fragments with them. This is how concord hospital treats their patients and the complete lack of knowledge is why I don’t go back.

They should increase the service quality. Concord Repatriation General Hospital (CRG, or Concord) is proud of its healthcare service excellence and leadership in clinical care. Concord is part of a network of hospitals and healthcare services within the Sydney Local Health District. Since its establishment as the 113th Australian General Hospital in 1941, Concord has built on its strengths of providing quality health services to returned servicemen and women and local communities, as well as undertaking world-class clinical education and research.

I am so blown away by the incredible service! I was rushed in for emergency surgery and having never been in hospital before, was terrified. Every single nurse that looked after me was so patient, kind and compassionate. The ward itself was lovely too. Even friends that came to visit and listened to the interaction with the nurses were massively impressed! On the day I was allowed to go back home, their main concern was ensuring I felt OK enough to do so and were happy for me to stay if I felt I wasn't ready (rather than making you feel like they needed to clear the bed for the next person). It wasn't the closest hospital to me but my GP sent me there as the surgeon for my particular surgery is supposed to be the best - I've had scratches from my cat that look worse than the surgery scars, very skilled hands :)

There are far too many very self centred whiners and whingers on this review thread, moaning about inconsequential stuff; how an emergency moved them back in the queue, or some trivial irritation stops their world going round. Get a life people, and say thank you to the professionals who fixed you up.

A staff member by the name of Bridgett at Concord Hospital who is a administration staff member- was very good in her job in liaising with visitors. We were visiting the hospital to inquire about the welfare of our Mother who was admitted via Ambulance because of pneumonia. Bridgett displayed a great amount of understanding, compassion, intelligence and was very helpful in organising a safe and efficient process to meet with our mother and check on her condition. Bridgett should be acknowledged for having these great attributes in a environment which is stressed out at the moment due to the Covid-19 virus.

Thanks for giving me again the sense of smell! I feel amazing like if I was born again. At the beginning it was a traumatic experience going into surgery, the lights the surroundings. Wow! Then waking up from Anesthesia and seeing the principal next to me saying it was perfect the operation your nose didn't change! Stayed the night and beds are comfy the attention is good! The place super tidy and well very noisy because there was a dude that snored like a family of bears. But Ive got nice noise suppressors and fell asleep nicely. Next day the attention was better than expected. Today came for the revisions and I feel absolutely happy with the results, the attention and the humanity of the team. I'm glad to be in Australia, going out and smell the amazing Rain near autumn. Thanks again!

This is how a hospital should be run. Staff are incredible at all stages from administration all the way through to drs and wait times are low. Thank you for being caring and empathetic when I recently went through such a traumatic experience of loss

All these horrible stories of bullying, harassment & threats surfacing up is just disgusting and a reflection on CEO Teresa Anderson & GM Genevieve Wallace’s character and lack of integrity. Of course Radiology can’t afford to pay doctors to report scans, when all Radiology staff did was stealing from the hospital. Absolutely disgusting!!!

Least helpful bunch of idiots I’ve ever dealt with in my young life. If hospital services are as incompetent as these people in my ongoing life I’ll be lucky if I live longer than 40 years. God help this insipid place.

Husband was recently admitted to Concord for surgery. He was very impressed by the care he received from the surgeons, doctors and nursing staff and believes they should be regarded as heroes. We are very grateful for the care he received. Many thanks.

Have had to wait a while sometimes but it's a public hospital, you get triaged. All staff I've met with have been totally lovely if a bit tired from the undeserved hatred I've seen them receive. Just try and relax mate, you'll get seen when you get seen, just be glad you live in a country with a robust healthcare system.

The services in MRI is so horrible and extremely poor. Phones are not being answered no matter what time of the day and you have to keep on calling until someone is kind enough to act. Booking for appointment is the same, so difficult to make a booking....you have to call quite a number of times .....same thing with results...you have to follow it up quite a few times...... Is this how public hospital works....so horribly poor..... Other public hospitals does not work like this....this is the worst hospital I ever encounter......

Seeing the latest respiratory level seven west intern or juniour Dr for my dads health I’m not impressed by their Un willingness to take paper work from hospital discharge summaries from other hospitals nor listen to the families. They should be I understand by hey are over worked Un resourced and in chaos from Gladys not doing the right thing in locking down earlier during Covid. But really they need to improve on this

I brought my daughter with a broken arm to the emergency department2pm today. It's 11:40 pm, and we're still waiting for doctors…!!! The fast track area has no staff available for questions, and my daughter hasn't been given a bed. The nurses at the station are unable to provide information. This lack of attention at a public hospital's emergency department is disappointing, especially for non-life-threatening cases like my daughter's broken arm. Serious attention is required in such emergencies. situation here could be worthy of a documentary in a third-world country, showcasing the efficiency of healthcare systems in more developed nations!! However, regrettably, this experience is occurring here in Australia. Such a Shame

One of the worst hospitals I have ever seen, during more than 8 hrs in emergency, not even a Panadol tablet was given ! Doctors are still learning and they could change what they say many times , I was discharged with a plan that when I called the hospital the next day regarding one of the arrangements, they had no idea what I was referring to . It’s very sad that when I went to this hospital I felt like my life and wellbeing has zero value to them . Really shocked about the level of ignorance I had encountered.

I visited Concord Hospital's Emergency Department on November 12 due to severe vertigo. The staff provided a wheelchair for me and all the other staff was really good and helpful, except Dr. Dhayaparan, the Resident Medical Officer. Despite my inability to stand or walk unassisted, Dr. Dhayaparan insisted I walk to her room, denying the use of the wheelchair. Throughout the consultation, she displayed a lack of empathy and patience. When I began experiencing difficulty breathing and vomiting, her response was unkind and rushed, pressuring me to explain quickly and said she will otherwise call the next patient and said she don't have time where as she could clearly see I was struggling despite the fact that I asked her to give me some time. Her rude comments persisted, even upon discharge when seeking guidance on medication I asked her how many times a day do I need to take medication he reply was ask Chemist they'll tell you. She also didn't gave me clear information for my recovery and didn't explained what was happening to me. She was really disrespectful and unprofessional. Dr. Dhayaparan's dismissive attitude and lack of respect for my condition left me with a deep sense of discomfort and fear.

Coming to Concord chest clinic has been a mixed experience for me. For the most part the receptionists were all patient in dealing with everyone and even the doctors. However the blood test/taking department near the flower shop hasn't. The nurses there seemed really impatient towards patient, not asking which hand nor treating patients carefully. The intent of the nurse is seen clearly; to finish the job quickly and go back to not doing anything. There wasn't any queue or anything which would justify their hastiness (in my opinion atleast) I would heavily discourage people to attend to this hospital unless it is necessary, seeking other hospitals seems to be a better choice

😠 I gave birth here 3 weeks ago. From 2cm to 9cm I contracted in the hallways, waiting rooms (If I wanted to be with my partner) and in the assessment room if I wanted a bed and endone - alone, without a nurse checking in on me or offering any kind of support. My waters broke around 8-9cm, I was given...

😠 I’m absolutely shocked at the appalling service from the emergency department. They neglected my 13 month baby for 2 hours after having higher than normal temperature and gasping for air.
