Birthed here in 2021 and whilst the experience was not bad, it really gave me no incentive to go private again. I was not given a run down of the nursing room (e.g. you must call the number by your bed before heading to the nursing room) and so when I arrived not only was I berated by for just turning up I waited almost an hour for help and by then it had been 4+ hours since my baby's last feed...and all I had wanted was formula. I had also asked about using a nipple shield and was told I'd have to go downstairs to the pharmacy and buy one, despite seeing a cupboard full of them and another midwife handing one to another mother. Again really hard to get support from the lactation midwives at night, who instead of being in the room was actually at the front desk chatting with other staff which explains why the phone went unanswered on several occasions. I helped myself to my expressed milk kept in the fridge etc several times. Personally I think the lactation consultants need better training if they are support breastfeeding because majority can't even identify when a breast pump flange is the wrong size. The hospital itself should be supplying different sizes because it is common knowledge that most women do not have 24mm nipples. I am truthfully a little traumatised by my post birth breastfeeding experience at this hospital. Bathing classes were extremely hard to book into with archaic sign up sheets that mysteriously went missing as well. Hospital seem short staffed at night with alarms constantly going off and long waits before anyone could come see you. Given this was also during the pandemic the high tea I was looking forward to was not offered and instead a poor attempt of two desserts on a plate was provided instead (although I note St George private at least gave mothers the entire 3 tiers to enjoy) I want to emphasise here that this is a private hospital which I paid to stay at so expected much more. I provided feedback on more than one occasion with zero follow up from the team. Really disappointed. On a plus side, the post birth visits which are run by different staff and so much better and far more supportive that I wish they were there to be with me from the beginning. Overall I'd recommend going elsewhere.

My wife had our second baby and our experience was better in blacktown public in every regard. Key features of this hospital: 1. Midwives took 90 min to arrive even on the 1st night following surgery. 2. Hospital asked multiple times for dietary requirements and still gave the opposite. 3. Water bottles are hard to get, carry your own. Catering staff forget to bring them with meals. 4. There is no coordination between hospital staff. We got first bath of newborn after 3 days (delays), and that too, someone else was permitted without check-in, and we had to wait. 5. Hospital promise everything will be provided. Good luck with waiting for everything. 6. From cleaning staff to midwives to catering staff, all complained that hospital is overbooked and they are too busy to provide good service. We wrote complaints to Debra Irwin but the issues remained. UPDATE: Hospital requested to send us an email after this review, but they never even replied to that email :)

Birth Unit offers new parents lots of opportunities to learn about newborn care. The nurses and midwives are amazing! A big shoutout for midwife Shimla who makes the natural birth so smooth and safe. Louise, Sonna, Sonia, the night nurse Prima(I am sorry if I didn’t get your name right, as I was so sleepy at night. ), a big thank you to you all! You really deliver best care for your patients. Christ the lactation consultant with beautiful blonde hair really makes a difference! She is good and she shows passion and genuine care for her patients! Last but not least, Georgia the nurse , she really care about her patients and try’s her best to assist her patients. Georgia is definitely a great asset to Westmead Private!

If I could give 100, I would! This was my 2nd stay with my 2nd baby at Westmead. Private birth and maternity ward! I work in healthcare myself ,so I have a very good idea what kind of hard work it is. I NEED TO SAY SPECIAL THANKS to a couple of extraordinary people who had such a massive impact on my delivery and mental well-being. SHRITA, my delivery midwife, and my OB Dr. ROSE ARDALIC. Shrita went above and beyond. This lady is an angel walking on the earth. Her kindness and care go way beyond her role. I was a bit stressed, with my 2nd delivery as scans were showing big baby, so I had to deliver 2 weeks earlier. When she saw me anxious, she put her name down to be able to assist me with my 2nd birth as I trusted her, and it made me at ease. I have her by my side! Wes is happy to have her!! All midwifes are fantastic, but she stood out of the crowd for me. I hope management recognises her hard work!!!!! My OB Dr. Rose, she is the most knowledgeable and caring human being you will ever meet. She genuinely care for her patients and tailor to their needs. She is the reason I decided to have a 2nd kid as I was not 100% sure. To topped up my ending experience, I had as well the most wonderful Pediatrician this time around Professor Daniel Lin, this guys is so charming, he listened every concer and provided us with all the answers needed. He didn't rush at all and took excellent care of my baby(wish I 'd have him the first time too) very funny, calm and experience in his field 10000% recom to book him to see your little one, you can't go wrong!! Last massive thank you to my maternity floor team looking after us. Rani, Linda, Christine(night shift nurse), and Sonia were so kind and supportive. They made us feel very welcome and noth5was a problem at all. They were there for us to provide us with the best care. Rani made us feel like part of her family, Linda gave me the reassurance that what I was doing was fantastic, Sonia fitted her checks with my newborn schedule even though she was busy. I can't thank you enough , that goes for every single person I didn't mention. From cleaning ladies, service ladies, lactation consultants, and really everyone, you provided outstanding care for us.

What a nice large money making machine this place is .A relative had surgery here recently and couldnt say enough about how friendly the staff were , but when you ask them to do something they totally ignore you . The rooms are large and the beds comfortable but the staff need to be told to do their job when they are asked to do something by a patient , who is paying a premium to be there .The parking is a problem that needs to be addressed also .

Excellent hospital with friendly professional, informative staff. Large comfortable rooms, comfortable beds, nice bathroom, larger TV than some other private hospitals. Food was ok, just not enough of it (you can probably ask for more). I was super hungry after a long pre-op fast so lucky I asked my visitors to bring some!

I’m currently an inpatient but the staff have been so caring here that I decided I should leave a review. Nobody likes being in hospitals, but they treat you almost as if it’s a vacation here. Great facilities, rooms and beds are very comfortable and meals are above excellence. Would be more than happy to stay here again. Big Thankyou to all staff

I had a great experience in the birthing unit however the special care nursery really let us down. After a 21 hour labour and traumatic birth the special care staff sent me to my room and said my baby had to remain there and gave him formula without my permission. This negatively impacted my milk supply and when I finally got an appointment with the lactation consultant she was more interested in helping women who had no problem with supply and told me “your baby has had a bottle he’ll probably never breastfeed now”. We also had problems with my baby having breathing issues and turning purple and the special care nursery refused to take him until I threatened to leave and take him to the children’s hospital. We also got told by staff in the special care it was probably just because we were feeding him wrong but she would’ve had her tail between her legs when my baby was transferred to the NICU. Fiona in the special care nursery was beyond amazing and wish we would’ve had her from the beginning. The midwives in the postpartum ward were mostly lovely but a few told me I shouldn’t be using formula when I had no choice considering he was given formula without my consent, wouldn’t latch and I had no milk from the stress. The facilities were also amazing and food was top notch but I think our experience would’ve been a lot better had he not been placed in special care from birth.

Just had our first baby at Westmead private and were very impressed with the care we we received. The nurses were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The parental suite was amazing, worth paying the extra if it is available, during covid when your partner can't leave you get a massive room, queen bed, meals for partner, the quality of these meals were excellent, and free parking for the six days. Would highly recommend this hospital and getting the parental suite.

I was in Westmead private, maternity ward for the delivery of my son in Nov 2021. I’m very satisfied with the outstanding service I received from the midwives, anaesthetists, lactation consultants, physiotherapist, paediatrician, nurses, and cleaners. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I appreciate their availability and patience to answer all questions I had. It was wonderful that my husband could stay with me, to help me care for baby after my C section, and at the same time, to be educated on the parenting skills with me. As new parents, the learning we had at Westmead Private has given us so much confidence to start the parenting journey at home. I don’t have any complaint about the food or room quality. The food was of very big size; and although we didn’t stay in the deluxe room; a standard room was sufficient for our needs. I loved the bathroom in our delivery suite and postnatal room. They both were as clean as a 5 star hotel bathroom. The only minus is if my husband had been provided with food, it would have been perfect; however this was communicated to us in the maternity tour before admission.

I had a great experience with having my baby here, I had an elective c-section in November. I had the best surgeon/obstetrician ever Dr Dave Lystijono, who managed the actual surgery in 3 minutes from the time he started cutting to the baby's first breath. The surgery itself went well and the after care was amazing. However just to note If you have any family members with a tongue tie, (lisp) or you have serious pain/bleeding while breastfeeding.. make sure you see a specialist ASAP outside of the hospital, as the midwife and 3 lactation's at Westmead private all missed that. I would definitely choose to have another baby at Westmead private again if I decide on having another baby.

Had my first baby at Westmead Private in March and absolutely loved the entire experience. Such kind staff and felt loved and taken care of me and my baby throughout my stay. I didn't want to come back home! The hospital was clean and beautifully maintained. I would pick Westmead private maternity in a heart beat if i ever have baby number 2.

Westmead Private was once a brilliant hospital however now I am of a different opinion and would definitely not recommend this facility. If your Specialist operates elsewhere make sure you you go there as Westmead Private Hospital has failed in providing any contact to the patient post op, or any follow-up care to see how the patient is managing with pain over the long weekend. Attempts to contact hospital on numerous times over the long weekend on their main telephone number for assistance was impossible without any option to leave a message whatsoever for a callback. After being discharged on the start of the long weekend the patient became extremely ill, suffering from excruciating pain, unable to eat drink or talk and with no other option but present to Westmead Public Hospital Emergency Department where they were seen within 10 minutes of presenting and administered morphine for pain the patient received the correct pain management and underwent further surgery to weld and seal infection and clots to prevent further complications which was a huge success. Had the hospital perhaps not rushed to discharge the patient and been contactable whilst the patient was at home and proper post op follow up from the ICU or nursing staff after discharge then the patient would not have experienced the excruciating pain if they had not discharged the patient as early as they did then on day 5 present at the public hospital for pain management and their second operation in less than a week. Westmead Private Hospital clinical management must surely hold some accountability for post op follow up within the first few days after being discharged from ICU in less than 24 hours from an extremely invasive surgery on a young inexperienced patient. At no time was the patient able to contact the hospital to ask what they could for adequate pain management over the long weekend and at some point the hospital should have contacted the patient. Clearly the hospital has a problem with their main telephone no in that it does not allow an option to leave a message for callback. Time hospital management also assess the zero post op follow up after discharge as this has a huge impact and is why I give a zero Customer experience rating of Westmead Private Hospital whom fail to admit they have a problem after their investigative findings and follow up correspondence to my initial telephone calls. This clearly demonstrates the facility has some very important areas to work on in improving their services post op, especially if they cannot wait to push/discharge a private patient directly from ICU in less than 24 hours from invasive surgery. From this horrific experience I can only give my honest opinion and a zero rating of this hospital’s post op follow up! I am tired of clinical staff making excuses on behalf of the hospital with pathetic responses to not hold themselves accountable for their poor service which started once the patient was discharged and as to why the patient was not kept in a few days to monitor and assist the patient with pain management and care, not just discharge the patient with prescriptions for pain management pharmaceuticals which provided absolutely no relief and developed into an infection. Westmead Private Hospital honesty does not deserve a better rating for such poor customer experience and I hope my honest feedback and bad experience reaches the right person in Ramsay Health as the clinical services directors fluffed up generic reply is just a coverup for what actually went wrong and to think my private health fund was charged $4600 for this service. I clearly understand it’s for the operating theatre, nursing staff and care in iCU which is not where I have the problem whatsoever nor is it the Specialist! I am sure my post will make an impact and what areas the hospital needs to address and make an effort in actually providing a telephone call to patient on follow up and making themselves contactable not just discharge a patient to fend for themselves, especially a young inexperienced patient.

I have been in westmead private hospital today, the staff are all great but a very special mention must go to Laureen at admissions, she is very helpful, and what I found to be really good, she came out from the desk to call the patient then walked them to their chair before going back around to her chair. These small things make a big difference in making the patient feel welcome and at ease, keep it up Laureen you do a fantastic job. Please make her aware of what a good job she is doing

Had an amazing experience in birthing and maternity. Definitely recommend Dr. Noori if you're in need of an obstetrician. 10/10 from us. Only down side was the suites weren't available for our stay- more of these definitely need to be built! The normal rooms are great though.

"My recent experience at a local hospital exceeded all expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was met with an atmosphere of professionalism and genuine care that immediately put me at ease. The entire staff, from the front desk personnel to the nurses, doctors, and specialists, showcased an impressive level of competence and compassion. The facilities were outstanding, boasting state-of-the-art equipment and an impeccably clean environment. Every room I encountered was equipped with the latest technology, ensuring the highest standard of care. The hospital's commitment to cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols was evident, providing a reassuring setting, particularly during times of vulnerability. The medical team was highly knowledgeable, taking the time to thoroughly explain procedures, treatments, and potential outcomes. They listened attentively to my concerns and actively involved me in the decision-making process, fostering trust and collaboration in my treatment plan. The nursing staff deserves immense praise for their tireless dedication and round-the-clock care. Their empathy and diligence significantly contributed to my recovery journey, providing not just medical assistance but also invaluable emotional support during challenging moments. Additionally, the hospital's auxiliary services, including dietary, physical therapy, and counseling, were exceptional. Their holistic approach to patient well-being was evident in every aspect of their care. Administratively, the hospital was efficient, accommodating appointments, and swiftly addressing any administrative concerns. The seamless coordination between various departments ensured a cohesive and hassle-free experience during my stay. In summary, the hospital I visited exemplifies excellence in medical expertise, patient-centered care, and overall service. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hospital to anyone seeking exceptional medical attention in a compassionate and supportive environment."

A good hospital with excitement friendly staff. Plenty of paid parking nearby. Downhill walk from the Westmead Train Station and good bus access. Cafe inside is basic, but fine. There are vending machines with drinks and chips etc. Navigating the hospital is not clear, so best to just ask for directions - but you get the hang of it quickly enough.

My wife and I had our first child at Westmead Private. I don't know where to begin. The room was amazing and very comfortable. All the Doctors, midwives, nurses and all staff were amazing and most accommodating to all of our needs. First time parents, we are already very nervous but all staff eased us throughout the process and were always there to answer any questions we had and always there to help and provide amazing guidance. Thank you so much to the staff and the hospital for all of your amazing work and we look forward to our next stay when we have our next child; God Willing.

Gave birth here, it was an excellent 5 star experience. Shout out to Priya one of the midwives who looked after us. She is one of those people I meet once a decade that teaches a subject so expertly u remember for the rest of your life I can go in more articulate details but Im operating on minimal sleep haha. Conclusion: 5 stars (Unrelated useless info: the last person I met like that was my high school maths teacher)

I completely agree with the review that states the lactation consultants are extremely unprofessional. The 'manager' (Leonie) of that team is the one who is sticking her bare finger into the mouth of newborns without any consent from the mum - this was also my experience. I delivered my baby with OB Marisa Martin, and although Dr Martin is an extremely competent OB, my experience was that she was extremely over booked which impacted her decision making and advice. For instance, she will force you into an induction if you are 1 day past your due date (even where there is no medical risks to wait), she won't show up to support you until you are 10cm dilated and ready to push. You have 10 minute consultations when you have waited up to 2 hours to see her. I will use Dr Emma Inglis for my next baby as she supports modern delivery methods and has the time needed to support your safe delivery and positive birth experience.

The birthing suite today at 1:30 pm is run by the gestapo. Apparently, it's illegal to enter the birthing suite when your granddaughter has just given birth (although the first midwife allowed you through to the second door). The lady at the front desk of the "Birth Suite" today (17/11/2023) needs to be taught manners, compassion and understanding. They don't care about tainting a supposedly joyous occasion. Our excitement turned to despair not that anyone cared!! The rules at this hospital change depending on who is at the front desk. A couple of months ago there was no issue going in to see the newborn for 15 minutes. If you're coming to give birth here make sure you pray to be greeted by a decent person at the maternity ward. I recommend you go to a public hospital where you'll be treated like a human being, as this is a hospital without a heart!

I had my baby at Westmead Private and it was such a wonderful experience. They do everything to make you feel comfortable and happy. The parenting suites are worth spending that extra $$ and the bed is comfortable and can accommodate both mum and dad. The classes they offer for mums are great. The midwives and nurses are absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend to anyone having a baby

Our third overnight stay at Westmead Private. The first two times (5 years ago) were exceptional, at the time said it was the best private hospital experience to date. However my own surgery last week for tonsillectomy - not great. My surgeon was incredible , admissions amazing. Recovery - I felt really gently taken care of when I started being sick. The problem started with my first nurse shift in the ward. Initially left for an hour by myself while they sorted themselves out. Then given too high dose of pain meds, spent next 6 -7 hours very unwell, begging for medication to help (which it didnt) or to go back on IV to calm the violent nausea . Just had so much trouble getting her to help me. She refused to offer soluble Panadol - despite just having had my tonsils out. Instead with her fingers she broke two massive tables each into 6 pieces and told me to swallow. I ended up skipping the dose as I couldn't get them down. And asked by her at one stage 'was I done now because it's my break time'. I suffered through to nurse shift change at 11pm and she was an angel. Within 10 mins she had solutions for all my discomforts. But overall the food, its appropriateness for post tonsillectomy (orange juice, hard stale toast lol? ) - the self serve kitchen was a mess with nothing in the fridge while I tried to look for something to line my stomach. Looks like some junior nurses lacking basic training (compassion!) and a lot of cost cutting. Shame it was such as different experience. Also I am disappointed the doctor on duty didn't help me better work out nausea and pain meds based on my health background and the information I tried to convey (which was clearly discussed in admissions yet somehow overlooked and I was too out of it post surgery to query). Was fairly dehumanising experience but very grateful to surgical team and post op who were incredible and I guess that what's counts the most . Hence the 3 stars. Next time I will choose North Shore Private or SAN.

Westmead Private Hospital is a top hospital that I know very well. We had our 2 children there (about 2 years apart) and they did an incredible job. The food was great, the wards we're lovely, parking and specialists we're no problem and the nurses and staff really worked hard for us. I was really happy, and more important; my wife was really happy. Great hospital, top people and love their work!

Long wait. I visited twice in a single week. At very first time they made me to wait for 2 hrs even I called staff before coming to hospital they said I can come. For second time same happend but this time I came late for 15 mins and they asked I have to wait for 1 hr as I came late. Not sure how they really want to play with patients. I hope hospital management make some changes in slot booking to provide comfort to patients and avoid long wait.

My partner underwent a procedure which required a couple of nights stay at the hospital. From the get go, (ie, start of initial consultation) the whole experience was fantastic and ran like clockwork. The professor, anaesthatist, the nurses, the catering, the service, the genuine care, the room she stayed in were 1st class. The hospital (run by Ramsay Health I believe) are, by a long mile, a credit to the health service. Thank you SO MUCH for the positive experience. Achilles and Hripsime (Sima)

My grand daughter was born here 3 weeks ago & I have nothing but praise of the highest order for all of the maternity staff. I worked here in maternity in the early years of its existence (different surname then), & I have to say it has improved enormously in every aspect over the years. There was a welcoming atmosphere, the staff were extremely attentive & knowledgeable and nothing was too much bother. I was present throughout the labour & could not fault the care provided by the midwives, and Dr Delgado is such a beautiful obstetrician. The postnatal and lactation care were exceptional. I highly recommend the maternity unit.

A Karen for a receptionist I witnessed a hospital staff member yell at children who were in a cafeteria/waiting area for being loud during visiting hours and when I mother tried to get the staff member to come down she just abused her some more. I told the mother to complain and write a Google review but it looks like she has not done it so I am going to do it for her. Soo unbelievable that people like that are allowed to work in healthcare. Hope the rest of the staff are not like that because I have decided not to book this hospital for my procedure. I recommend people book somewhere else

Been here many times in the past (was always first class care), and in again tomorrow, but if their "new" admissions process - send you a text and tell you to bring money with you - is any indication -care factor has taken a big slide downhill. As per Cassie below - they send you a text at 6pm the night before...terrible pre admission - not even worth a phone call anymore

I totally agree with those negative comments about the maternity ward. My experience is a bit old one, but still clearly remember how I felt disappointed and confused. Later I had my second child at a public hospital, and the experience was lot better than there in every aspects.

Excellent reception, administrators nursing staff, theatre staff & doctors. Everyone was transparent, supportive, informative, and caring. WPH was clean and efficient. Plenty of parking & and easily accessible disable parking to the hospital. The only drawback was that it was a bit of a rabbit warren to get out of the parking area. Otherwise, WPH was a great experience.

Westmead Private has good facilities and a professional team of midwives and OBs that are contracted by the Hospital. However, their 'lactation specialists' are extremely unprofessional. All 3 lactation Specialists will ask you 'can I help' which they take as consent to stick their bare finger with uncut fingernails into your baby's mouth to detach them from your breast if the latch is not correct, they do not warn you or ask you if this is permissible. They do not wear gloves. The women are untidy and should trim their nails and wash their hands prior to touching multiple newborns in one session - they do not maintain hygiene as they are walking back and forth to their table to write notes in each mum's Hospital record folder. Please ensure they do not touch a newborn without the mum's explicit consent.

Friendly and attentive staff. Meal service was a bit of a mess. My meal order was taken the night before (Wednesday), I didn't get what I ordered for my breakfast on Thursday, since they printed the meal order for Friday, which hasn't even been ordered. So, got an assortment of bakery. The lady who brought breakfast asked if I wanted tea or coffee, left and never returned. Glad I only need to stay overnight.

To have a baby is blessing from God. However, having a worker at Weastmead Private Hospital (Maternity Unit), who supposed to be professional, to ruin your happiness by their unprofessional, rude, and most probably racist behaviour could tell the whole story of what to expect from such a hospital. Shouting in front of people disrespecting me and my wife is the last thing you want at the last day of your staying at a maternity hospital while taking our beautiful child home. Bronwyn Ryder was the one responsible for the bad attitude, she is not supposed to work at any institution that respect itself unless she changed her attitudes.

We are booked with Westmead for 16th week pregnancy and planning to give birth here. However, reading the poor reviews just recently makes me wanna back out and find another private hospital. Is this really this bad??? Please advice.

I had a surgery done at Westmead Private Hospital last night, it was my first time at this hospital. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming from the admissions desk all the way through to my nurses who took care of me afterwards in the maternity ward. A special thank you to Dr Rabia Shaikh, Dr Garg, Trinity, Claire, Linda, Sarah and Priya who made my surgery, after care and overnight stay super comfortable!

I had been a private patient twice last year, paid thousands of dollars out of my own pocket. My surgeon was superb, no complaints there but if I need future surgery, I will go to another hospital that my surgeon operates at and not Westmead Private! I had left behind a genuine apple phone charger. I was not able to retrieve it for many weeks but a nurse on the ward offered to keep it in her locker for me. Two months later, I rang the ward and they said she was on holidays. I waited a few weeks and it turns out that nurse said she left me a message saying she was going on holiday which was not true, and that instead of keeping my property safe in her locker as promised. She put it in communal drawer and not even giving it to her manager to lock away. She tried to tell me they probably threw it away, yeah right! I contacted Executive Office and after many weeks they sent me a pathetic email stating they would not be reimbursing me. It was never about the reimbursement, but the manner I was treated after choosing their hospital twice and paying so much money to go there. If this is how they value business, I’m not interested in ever going there nor recommending anyone else to do so. Nothing wrong with the surgeon or anaesthetist but they go go to other hospitals besides Westmead Private.

My stay at Westmead Private was excellent. The nurses were amazing except for one nurse in West who I will call by the first letter of her name B who was unfriendly and had very cold eyes and not helpful at all. Ask anything and she would just glare at you. The staff from housekeeping were lovely and helpful. The food was good and tasty with plenty to choose from. Other than nurse B in West I couldn’t fault Westmead Private.

Hospital may be good for other patients but not good for maternity purpose...has very good building and furniture with very poor patient and newborn care...very limited staff and most of them are not experienced enough...You get even essential service after long wait that too when you ask them repeatedly (e.g. Lactation consultant to breastfeed a baby comes after repeated request, physiotherapist is sent after you are pleading for 10 times because you have undergone a C-section)...Go public or may be somewhere else..This was my 2nd time at this hospital...5 years ago things were great but now it is just average...

Saw andrew pesce at westmead private - single handedly the worst OBGYN I have ever seen. Bedside mannner is ordinary to say the least, and rough as guts would be an overly generous. Waiting area is pretty grotty and hasn’t been cleaned in the last decade. It’s also pretty dark, and void of life. The irony. Parking is OK, but expensive and often chaotic. Drop off area out the front is OK. Florist has a good selection of items.

This is a review of the new maternity ward. My wife and I had a child there recently and had a very good stay at the new maternity ward. Even the most basic rooms had a fold out bed so the husband could stay for the entire duration of the stay. My wife initially was quite apprehensive about breastfeeding, however with the help of the lactation consultant and the midwives, my wife now breastfeeds like a champion. The women's only breastfeeding room which was available nearly all the 24 hrs each day we were there provided a lot of support to my wife. In no particular order, these were only the names of the midwives I could remember, but we have a very heartfelt thanks to: Jennie, Chelsea, Zola, Karen. There were many more who I can't remember their names. The Doctors and specialists visited every day and we had just the right amount of care, not too much where it was overbearing, not too little where we weren't supported. The facilities and equipment in the new ward are fantastic. My brother who had two children in the old wards were about to point out a lot of improvements from when they had kids 4 and 6 years ago. The whole experience from the initial antenatal classes, speaking to the hospital during labour to time when to arrive, delivery, care and postnatal support we believe was excellent.

Currently staying in the parental suite. It's nice and big but for the price you pay you expect something extra for your money, like the correct food order, the fact that the food is so awful, the fact that the daily complimentary paper is nowhere to be seen. Also, was told you could prepay for the parental suite, put on and removed from the list twice, and was also upgraded at 4pm when I checked to see if the room was free after being told by the staff that the room was not free all day, and while waiting for the parental room the day after my wife gave birth, my wife was left in a room that was not serviced, including no sheets on the bed because she was 'moving'. Not impressed.

This was the second time I had surgery at this hospital and on both occasions I found it to be an excellent hospital friendly and professional staff. The facilities were clean, rooms were spacious with comfortable beds, nice bathroom, a good sized TV and I couldn’t complain about the meals. The only thing I found disappointing was when I checked in to pay my access, I noticed the Aboriginal flag on the counter but no Australian flag.

Thanks Westmead Private, my son had a dental surgery on the 24th June and it went very well. Excellent performance by your frontline team. Doctors, nurses, carers, receptionist etc. Including the Covid safety assistants! Much appreciated. Just one issue is please check your night security staff as he was one of the most rudest people I met this year! And he just was downright rude to everyone who came to the premises as he would keep everyone standing in the cold for atleast 5+ minutes before he buzzes open the door whilst making eye contact from behind the glass door without even a nod or an acknowledgement. And seemed to care a damn that relatives were eager keen to see their dear ones! 5 stars for all the other Staff, Facility etc 1 star for your Night guard.

We had our first baby here and I couldn’t speak more highly of the whole experience. I had a c-section and was really nervous but all staff were reassuring and it was a calm and smooth birth. The nursing staff are professional, kind and knowledgeable. The maternity ward is beautiful. We were in the parenting suites and it was like staying in a nice hotel. Food was nice and room is serviced daily. Support from nurses is 24/7 and the education provided is second to none. I’ll definitely be back when we have our next one!

Extended delay on 30/6/21. Patient went in at 4pm and came out around five hours later. We were told it was a 45 minutes procedure. Waited outside due to restrictions of covid 19. Four hours of waiting outside in the rain. No contacts from nurses about the delay or what happened. Nurses need to communicate to let us know there was a delay and around what time the patient will be out. Private hospital service is not cheap. We need better service.

I was a patient at Westmead Private for the birth of my first baby. My time in the birth suite was the most de-humanizing experience I have had. I was told (not asked or supported) what to do, I was also denied information -in particular about the health of my baby when alarms were going off; then finally when the situation became an emergency was not told why or given a debrief. I would never return and based on the disrespect that continued in the complaint process could would never consider a Ramsey Health facility again. I had an induction as my OB had lead me to believe an induction was medically necessary. The midwives, however, showed me disrespect and asked offhandedly and judgmentally if I was there “just because I was at term”; I objected but was ignored and pushed to the next step. I have since found out that the OB had told the hospital that the induction was for “social” (i.e. not medically necessary and not postdate) reasons; I fully believe that if rather than showing me disrespect the midwife had spoken to me about the conflict in reasons I could have avoided an unnecessary induction. I did make a complaint but Westmead Private insisted that the OB is fully responsible for providing information, and obtaining consent. They also declined to answer my direct question of if they would commit to having a policy of asking the women to confirm the indication of so as to identify any issues immediately, and provided improved care to a woman. The contractions in my labour proceeded very differently from what was described in the hospital birth classes and I also was vomiting from early on. The midwife barely spoke to me, did not time the contractions with me, but for ages just told me I was not in established labour. When the contractions had me writhing in pain, and I barely felt rest between contractions I begged for a break – stop or reduce the oxytocin- My request was ignored. In response to my compliant the hospital simply told me that they do not know why my request was ignored but reducing Oxytocin would have likely made no difference: Something I hardly believe – why pump me with drugs (all have side-effects) if they are doing nothing?; and why then when Oxytocin was finally dropped due to fetal heart rate abnormalities did contraction intensity reduce and then stabilise? Fetal heart rate concerns were apparent for the majority of my labour and yet I was not told. When I hear alarms going off these where not explained. I had an emergency delivery due to fetal heart rate dropping to emergency levels. I was flat on my back with midwives pressing my legs hard into my stomach; I have no doubt my ongoing pelvic girdle pain comes from this position. Post-birth I found that Westmead private was very sloppy with records and responding to my complaint. On the printed birth summary, my baby’s birth rate and 1min AGPAR score differ from the handwritten signed copy. In their written response, Westmead private gave me two different times for receiving an epidural, both disagreeing with the signed Anaesthetist record. The first response I received from Westmead Private was dismissive and insulting, and they admitted in their second (after involving the HCC) that it “was lacking detail”. The second response was still not good. Westmead private volunteered to pursue a resolution meeting, then as they could not provide anyone with a medical background to be there, preferred a written response to my questions; I agreed and they committed to a timeframe to provide. After the time passed the written response provided was simply that they would not answer any of my questions in writing but instead would rather go back to an informal meeting. I confirmed they were not open to any records being made or kept from such a meeting. The behaviour of Westmead private means that I feel they are disingenuous in regards to complaints and have no commitment to improving.

I just had my baby and discharged from West mead hospital today. I had some awful experiences I would like to share with you. The hospital front reception, most of the time it is unattended, people rather stay in the office behind rather than attend the desk, it would not kill them if they can smile a little bit. The midwife in the birth unit are wonderful, but when you are transferred to the maternity unit, the hell starts. As an inexperienced mum, you will have to wait 30 mins to 1 hour to buzz someone in which is crazy, even public hospital does better than that. Then when they come in, some of the staff doesn't have much patience to explain things to you, they expect you should learn things in advance by yourself, unfortunatly, I don't have the time in the world to learn all this, that's why I have chosen private hospital. I would also expect the staff here could be more friendly, actually, it is not, some of them can be rude, because they are tired and busy. There are lots of things they should let you know while they transfer you from the birth unit to the matetnity department. Unfortunately, I could only find out on the last day, and it is to late. Such as how they may assist you with the breast feeding and how should that be progessed, the hospital actually provide lots of benefits, but if you don't ask, the staff won't offer it. And this was not the worst, because I have the breast feeding problem, i want to do the express milk before I discharged, the lady who helped me wasn't there, i was trying to get help from someone else, then someone told me, you can do it in your room, there is a machine, you should know how to do it. Excuse me? Why not someone told me earlier and show me how to use that? So I could stimulate my milk earlier. So I could be less stressed on my last day. While I was in the breast feeding room, my mum and my husband were unfriendly asked to leave the room, i understand they need the room to be vacant for the next person, but they don't have to be rude. We were ready and fully packed, they should have seen that! And this is not the worst part. The worst part is my long term parking ticket was swollen by exit machine on my discharge day. i was in my breast feeding dress and trying to quickly sort out this and go. I have to speak to the hospital reception desk and wait for almost half hour, then the lady looks like in charge brings her attitude and the security guy accuse me misuse the parking ticket and look at me like I am a thief. Excuse me? i am paying the premuim to have the baby here, do I care about the 80 dollars? I really don't need this on my discharge day. So I said fine, what do you want? She said we can validate your tickets everytime in future, but we won't reissue the ticket to you. I said fine. But, when I finally brings my ticket there and ready to bring my baby home, there is another staff there, she has no idea about this issue, i have to explain the whole thing again, the lady doesn't want to stress me out, so she just validated my ticket and let me out. Never every feel so humiliated, not sure if I look broke in my breastfeeding cloth. Anyway, luxury new maternity unit horrible experience, wouldn't like to come back again!

I've just had a 5 night stay here after a surgery where the use of my arms was extremely restricted. I found this hospital extremely disappointing for a private hospital. Many of the nurses provide below average care and don't take you serious when you tell them that you aren't feeling right. The times they take to attend the buzzer are well below standard and the overall enthusiasm to help the patient from the majority of nurses is disgusting. I had very little use of my arms but felt like I was just a pain especially to Elena and Elise a couple of younger nurses who were not very helpful or friendly. The 3 nurses who I can highly commend for their care and genuine warmth to the patient are Pat a male nurse, Sue and a young girl Hannah. The shift that I had 1 of these 3 was where I felt safe and looked after. Nothing was an effort for these 3 and they are just beautiful natured people who love their job. The meals were a real disappointment as I have dietary restrictions I wasn't catered for properly. The hospital was extremely noisy and I did get moved but then it was still super noisy till around 8.30pm in the older section. I'm definitely glad to be home!

The customer service in this hospital is not consistent. Some staff provide wonderful customer service while some provide poor service. The management needs to audit all of the customer service touchpoints to ensure consistent high quality customer service throughout the service delivery. Overall, doctors, midwives, nurses are very good, they are knowledgeable and helpful. However, some support/customer service staff and also several nurses need to improve their communication skills and be more customer service minded (you can see several people commented in their Google reviews here about how rude some of the staff are...they are bossy and do not use appropriate tone and words when interacting with customers). I am giving the 2 star for their customer service, and not for the patient care. Their maternity rooms are very small and we had to complain at least 5 times, from 2 pm until 830 pm, telling them that the room was hot and that the air conditioner was not working. Only at 830 pm, they decided to move my wife to another room. The way staff asked about our health fund and payment also need to be improved...seemed like they were so scared that we wouldn't be able to afford their service. Food service staff are wonderful. Security guard was also great. He welcomed us at the door when we arrived by ambulance and escorted us to the birthing suite. Nurses quickly took care of my wife. The lady who handled my wife's discharge process was very friendly and helpful. PS: if you are someone from the hospital who plans to ask me here abt my contact details or ask me to contact you, pls go ask your staff who worked in maternity. You should be able to find out which customer I am without asking me to contact u.

I was recently in Westmead Private for knee surgery. The nurses were wonderful especially a night nurse Sue. However the food was disgusting & the vegetables were undercooked. One morning for breakfast I had rolled oats which were also undercooked & horrible. I had an air mattress which I found difficult to move around on & about the 3rd day the nurse was changing the bed sheets when she noticed the mattress wasn't even turned on. I have been there before & always found it to be very good but would never go there again.

Made an appointment for 11.30am and arrived at 11.10 wait for one hour afterwards so had to check with the reception lady, being told there were still 4 patients prior to me. She looked more impatient than me and not bother problem solving at all! What’s the point of making an appointment then if patients have to wait forever without being told upon arrival?! Plus being treated by the reception like it’s my fault able to wait

This is a review of the maternity ward.I.have used the hospital's service previously for my family at other wards and I have absolutely no complaint. However,I am extremely disappointed with the 24 hour breastfeeding support.Firstly, the day my bub was born there were some agency nurses who had no clue about the feeding support. With the c-section it wasn't a lot under my control.I expressed my desire to try breastfeeding but was physically unable to hand express when my lil one did not make much effort with feeding. However she would still go to the breast. When I went to the feeding support room I was surprised by the staffing level.I wouldn't have complained about the staffing level if the staff there were able to give equal attention to all.The two staff members who usually covers most shifts and claimed to be the lactation specialists were not at all supportive.I could see them focusing on few who had bubs who were already doing ok to an extent and who could give positive outcomes or success. There were many like me who would attend the room every three hours without fail and would just get a little glance of we were lucky. Mothers and bubs who were better at feeding would get more one on one attention, when people like me would sit and watch and wish we had more support to start our breastfeeding journey. When approached, they would either make a gesture of being busy with someone or say that my bub has to grow to get the trick.Well, within few hours of discharge when I used a nipple shield ,my bub was told to be a champ in breastfeeding with aid.I am extremely disappointed with the judgemental attitude of those lactation consultants and also their inability to provide equal treatment when everyone is paying huge amount to their private health insurance for equal service.I am upset about not given a chance or an assessment before making the comment that my bub needs to grow to breastfeed just because bub was born a day earlier of the 37 th week mark.I am writing this while we are celebrating breastfeeding week everywhere. If only we mothers receive some support right from the beginning a lot of us would be able to feed our bubs at the breast.

First night at the maternity suite, I was offered by multiple staff there’s a night nursery room open from 11pm to take care of babies for patients from c-session to rest. When I showed my interest and asked for the service, I then was told the room is closed due to short of staff. ??? Second night, informed my nurse that I would like to go to the feeding room 15 mins before my baby’s feed but was told to wait as they were handling over ... 45 mins passed, I had to call again as my baby had been hungry and crying; waited for another 15 mins. My husband had to get some formula and bottle and have a feed by ourselves. When the nurse finally showed up, she offered to bring in more feeding kits so we can keep feed by ourselves as she was and would be really busy. Not impressed by the new maternity suite but quite shocked by the amount/quality of the service/support they provide.. Lack of parking space, poker face receptionist .... I can keep listing !!

Ok it's taken me 2 years after my hysterectomy to write this review. I was in a lot of pain after my early morning op. I asked for pain relief but was given nothing. One nurse said my oxygen was too low to give me anything she didn't even bother to give me oxygen. Thankfully my surgeon rang at 7pm and asked the nurse to ask me if I had any questions the only thing I could say was pain. It was only then that the staff realized that they had forgotten to put me on a Fentanyl pump. Once I had pain relief I had to ask them a number of times to check my temp and yeap I had a fever. They had forgotten to start my antibiotics that were attached to my drip but they hadn't turned it on. I suffered a partial lung collapse due to the shock of the pain, my GP picked it up not the Hospital. The head nurse was horrible to me because my surgeon complained to her about the lack of care. Avoid this Hospital.
