One of the worst hospital experience I’ve had in my life. I’ve had three children and multiple surgeries at both public and private hospitals in Sydney and this by far was my worst experience. The admission receptionist showed zero respect and compassion, was rude, rushed most of the patients especially if the were old or ethnic all so she can rush to a personal phone call speaking in some European language. The admission nurse was racist and caring factor for patient was zero. The discharge nurse/receptionist did not even acknowledge me and when I asked to get another cup of tea as I was feeling very cold after surgery while waiting to be picked up, she used the same tea bag and just added water to it. It’s unfortunate but I will not recommend this hospital to any one.

My name is Monique, I came in on the 26th of May 2023. I came here as I was in pain for so long, I had an operation to heal me. Prof. Chris Berney was my surgeon, a remarkable surgeon who has worked on the ship DAISI for humanitarian work in developing countries. Prof. Chris Berney with his patients in Sydney Australia you are the best surgeon in my eyes to have met. During my stay at Waratah Private Hospital Hurstville Sydney, the staff have been fantastic healthcare professionals something I shall never forget as they are a beautiful team. The connection between them all with running a tight ship on the wards with many levels to look after is amazing. Thank you to all the nursing staff and Sue for starting to get me out of bed :-) I leave here today on my way to recover and back in two weeks for my check-up. Thank you again for your care and support to me. Bye Room 318. It has been the most amazing pleasure to have met you, for you to take care of me, From your team the office when I first met you and your team at the hospital was absolutely amazing. Merci xxx With Warm Hug Monique F Williams

My experience here at Waratah Private Hospital is so worth it to the point that I just got discharged from the hospital and writing this review immediately. This is the first time I have ever stayed at a hospital but everything and everyone is 100/100. Everyone is nice, friendly, supportive and very patient with me as I have ankle fractures on the right leg. Every time I called a nurse, they responded immediately and friendly too. The nurse that mainly monitored and supported me throughout my two day stay is Jasmine. She is so good, friendly and super nice. She helped me from going to toilet, shower, help me move around and all the small requests like move my table closer. I give her 100% satisfaction rate because I love her service until I left the hospital today. Besides Jasmine, everyone here is super nice is just that there are so many people who I talked to from first meeting that I didn’t have the opportunity to ask for their names. I would also give them 95% satisfaction. I give them 95% because I need more opportunity with them for 100%. Besides the friendly staff, the food here is delicious for my preference. Especially the tofu soup. The toilet is well prepared and clean with all equipment that supports patients with difficulties of walking. It helped me move around the room. Speaking of room, the room I stayed in had everything in one without me moving around the hospital. The room is very clean and spacious. The room includes a toilet, shower, taps and a large window for sunlight to shine in. The technologies in the room is effective and accessible. I absolutely love the bed height adjustable being able to adjust the bed super high (to see the lower view outside of window) and super low for me to easily sit down and get into laying down position. Overall, I enjoyed staying here so much with great doctors, nurses, receptionist, psychologists and others who helped me out throughout the stay. If anyone from the hospital reads this, I am very thankful for your service for assisting all the patients out there that needed help and making sure their experiences are fully or beyond satisfied. I hope everyone reading this to stay healthy and stay happy in life.

The ward nursing staff were great, very easy going, jovial, polite, well mannered and down to earth whilst maintaining professionalism at all times. They are good at their jobs The single rooms are well maintained and up to date Nurses Tara and Julie are to receive a special mention as well as Sister Mamta for going above and beyond Sister Emma is nice, friendly & professional too Upon my entry to level 1 pre admissions i was met with friendly receptionists •4 star room and room amenities •Tea/coffee/biscuits & juice served at regular intervals - Sorry for the negative part but i call things as i see them - Whilst i was still filling out my pre admission form one of the nurses came out to check on my progress to see if I'm ready to go in without saying anything to me except you have to have your mask on,i instantly thought here we go. My glasses were fogging up that's why i had it pulled down. We eventually went inside and she was seriously way over the top. Sanitising everything i touched, she even santised the pen i used and the arm band for the blood pressure machine after i used it. As we were then walking to get changed without asking or explaining she told me to pop my hand under here which was a dispenser, she should have asked and not told me. She even asked to see my covid test result after it was first emailed to them, then i presented it to reception upon arrival and she then asked to see it 5 minutes after showing the reception team (a total of 3 times prior to admission) She is one of the most programmed people i have encountered, totally brainwashed.

I got a referral to Dr Saeed at Waratah Private Hospital. My partner checked that their was availability within the next two months. I sent my referral to them. About a week later I was rung by Selina (an admin, I believe- she never told me her position). She said that the referral didn’t say enough and then asked me to give her my life history. I thought it quiet inappropriate but did so thinking this must be a triage situation. She said she would send my info to Dr Saeed and then schedule the appointment. The next week I get another call from Selina to tell me that the referral was good but it didn’t have the doctors phone number on it. I was out so I couldn’t check and so trusted what she said. But then she kept asking me to go to a different doctor to get a new referral with a phone number on it! I said no and I would call the GP and get the phone number. After the call I checked the referral and it was there. I double checked by calling the GP’s office to check that was the correct number. I emailed Selina back to tell her and ask what the problem was. Why would she want a different GP referral? The next week I get an email back from Selina saying that the referral doesn’t have an address or email address etc. on it. So I checked and once again all the info is on the the referral. I email Selina back again saying this, and shortly after receive an email back saying that I am now able to book the appointment and to call someone named Alica. A few days later Alica calls me to make the booking and it is made. BUT she makes it for a different specialist! Not the one I was referred to and not one I am prepared to spend a lot of money on. The specialist she booked me with was not one with good reviews on ratemd. Also, it was odd that they didn’t seem to care that the referral would be to a different doctor to the one I would see. Im not sure if Medicare would accept that and whether I’d end up further out of pocket for this reason. I expect better from a private hospital and will go to doctors that have a higher level of respect for their patients. When I raised my complaint with Alicia she apologised but said it hadn’t caused me any difficulty. Well, considering I never got the appointment, it did.

contact list. My name is Brian Jackson. I had an eye surgery on 16 September, When I was sitting after surgery in waiting room recovering woman came and said I need medicines she got for me and without giving me any chance to think about it charged me nearly $60, I thought afterwards it is probably too high. I went next day to my local chemist and upon checking he said it would cost me with him only just over $40 !!! Big difference.. I saw that woman pushing medicines to other patients. It is obvious collusion on hospital part with local chemist to make money on unsuspecting patients, I like to hear what you would say about it, That matter should probably be referred to Fair Trading Department,

I live around the areas recently I ve been admitted to the hospital since Wednesday, it is very bad the staff there are very neglecting, all young students don't know what they doing, not supporting, not cleaning , I ve asked for the bed l sheets and the billows to be changed no one bothered after 3 days still waiting for them to change it. They close the room door and leave you no matter how many times you ring the bill no one comes. I will never come back to this hospital or even recommended to anyone as it is not even on the level of a public hospital ☹️☹️ the rubbish didn't get to be removed out of the room for days😠😠

Worse experience I went through ! Nurses staff rude not helpfully at all for elderly people. I walked around the ward and patients called me to help them eat or pass them something. I went everyday and I ended up cleaning the room and bathroom my self. It was disgusting. I had a phone call from the hospital saying my father not eating, so I decided to go at 7.00 am in the morning the food tray was know were near him so he could reach to have breakfast. The tray was left in the middle of the room. Found tablets on the floor, not sure if given to the patient. Rang the bell and nurse came in with here head down and turned off the bell and walked backed out. Was disgusted completely ignore us. Nurses need to be trained up better , some did not know what they were doing and could not speak the English language. When discharge approached no one spoke to me or tell me what was going on. Communication is terrible, I just left. You need to improve dramatically. I was disgusted in the whole month was there.

I found all of the staff were lovely, even chasing down my dinner after I woke up, even though it was well past the dinner service time! They made sure my flowers got to my room, and were prompt and kind with all of their care and responsiveness. No task was too much to ask, and they all had a good sense of humour!

Waratah Private Hospital isn't where I would choose for any future surgery. I have anxiety and panic attack issues and I noted them on the admissions form and let the nurse know during admission and they still stuck me in a shared room near the door, not even near the Window. I asked at least 3 nurses to change my room to the many empty ones but they refused. I couldn't sleep during the nights because they don't switch off the lights outside so you have light flooding the room and the neighbouring patient who was on the phone all night talking. Then, when you get discharged after surgery, they tell you that you need someone to drive you home. However, you can leave by yourself and no one will have even noticed unless you go and tell them. So much for having top corporate private cover.

I Was given a gel heat pack by one of the nurses for my pain but then it was taken away by another nurse later at night saying its illegal for hospitals to give heat packs. So I asked for a heated blanket afterwards and I was told that the machine was broken. Anyway I asked for the leg compressions to be hooked back up for night sleep this needed to be on, however the nurse came back and said she couldn't find any they are all taken. I did tell her that another nurse just walked in during the day and took mine away without saying anything. So basically something I needed to stop a potential blood clot was taken from me and given to someone else. Only day 2 after surgery. This morning I asked for a pillow to be told they can't find any. What a joke! It's the service of a public hospital. Wouldn't expect this from a private hospital. Very upsetting.

Such a pleasant little hospital that has a great group of people who work there. The lady on the front reception was very helpful and a true delight. Everyone was very friendly and were always willing to do that but extra for you to ensure everything was ok. The underground parking was a particularly good treat for a Sydney hospital. Always managed to get a park even at the busiest times. The cafe makes great coffee, hot chocolate and hot chips!!!! It was fantastic to learn that a mental health ward is about to open. I’m sure it will be busy in no time as there isn’t anything around. If you could let the staff know how fantastic they are, that would be great.

My husband has been here a few times now and most recently had his surgery and stayed on for a touch of rehab after he was well enough to do so. The hospital and its staff have really gone from strength to strength over our visits and it’s comforting to see. I’m not one to put reviews but this stay above all the others was special and he and I were made to feel special. Thanks everyone for a really wonderful effort and making my husbands stay as comfortable and beneficial as it could have been. P.S he is doing great and back to work!

I had orthopaedic surgery yesterday morning, and stayed over night. Every single staff member I interacted with from reception, to the nurses, and the doctors; everyone was absolutely lovely and made me feel at ease. I was pretty scared because this was my first big surgery, being put to sleep and staying in hospital overnight (with the added stress of lockdown and COIVD) and the staff really helped me to be comfortable and safe. The food was quite nice, and the room was nice and warm and comfortable. Overall I was really grateful to be treated here.

Dear Rehab Centre Managment at Waratah Private Hospital My name is Mario Aserovisius and I have been blessed by the help provided by your team at the Waratah Private Hospital. Starting by a very professional assessment at the very beginning to the amazing Doctor Hendricks that evaluated my situation and provided me with care and support throughout the program and the dedication of Daniel (exercise physiologist) who has improved not only my physical challenges after a very difficult cervical operation, but also my mental attitude managing pain and getting on with my everyday life. Last but not least, a big thanks to your occupational therapists Ali, Brooke & James for their help as well. A very warm and well equipped establishment that is first class! Thanks to all your staff.

Very impressed with my experience. My second time here and has been a really positive experience both times. Fantastic nurses and staff, clean and modern facility, spacious private rooms, lovely food especially for a hospital, and such a comforting warm experience so conducive to healing which I'm so grateful for!

Waratah private is a comfortable hospital. I have never been a patient there, but I have been to the floors and watched how they work. In most cases, they are attentive and spirited. They communicate well with each other, and even there will always be some bad eggs, the majority are good at what they do. It has multiple levels including rehab, mental health, cancer wards, physio...etc. There is food offered to the patients, but that one lacks quality and love. Other than that, a well maintained hospital.

Was very pleased with how the hospital cared for my elderly father. I truly believe that it was the care given to him by the doctors and nurses that kept home out of a nursing home which I think is everyone’s goal for there parents. He is doing very good at home with some home care and he is really happy.

My mother in law was so well looked after and my husband and I really couldn’t find anything we could fault. Her operation went to plan and the surgeon and nursing staff attended to her every needs. Everyone was smiling and seemed genuinely happy to be at work. It was recommended she attend rehabilitation and we were so pleased as it would of been very difficult to take her home without it. Needless to say our family had high expectations as the operation stay went so well and again everyone was so lovely and the physiotherapists got her back to where she was before the operation. All our family have commented that she has done so well at home because she was provided a complete service. Thanks doesn’t seem enough but please pass it on all the same ❤️❤️❤️

I had a mixed exprince with nurses. One of them was totally slacky and disconnected from her job, she asked me to wait for her in the toilet, as i had a surgery earlier that day, and she never came back. Then she gave me an empty pot and asked me to put the pill in my mouth when there wasnt any. My iv drip was not working and i asked her to fix it and she got so nervous on what to do. Other nurses were fine. And they missed my breakfast next morning, gave me a cup of tea an hr ago and said ur breakfast is coming soon and it never came, until i rang bel at 9am and reminded them. Then they gave me someone elses order. Overall, there is a lack of management and poor communication, the nurses donot know what they need to do. The surgeons leave u after surgery on nursing staff, who have no idea of how to deal in different situations. One nurse during night shift was good as she was able to help me by changing dressing of my oozing wound. This was the only positive i experienced here. Good luck to any1 who decides to come here for surgery, but donot keep very high hopes in terms of post surgical care.

The most magical group of people work here and really looked after my loved one. Very attentive in every aspect of his needs and ours for that matter. Couldn’t be more grateful and have really seen a hop back in dads step and he has started getting back out and playing lawn bowls again which is something he hasn’t done for many years before coming to this hospital. Thank you to all that looked after him ❤️❤️❤️

If I could leave 0 stars I would. The staff from the reception to the nurses that we encountered were all rude and abrupt. My mother had a day surgery here earlier this week. The nurse after the surgery, ripped the hair net off my mums head, and said "you don't need that now" and threw it in the bin with her hair scrunchie inside. After the surgery, the specialist was coming to speak with my mother to explain the procedure and the findings, she was drowsy from the anaesthesia, she asked the nurse 2 times to please pass her her glasses so she would be able to see the specialist. The nurse responded "honey, you don't need your glasses now, they are no good for anybody", condescendingly and never passed them to her. My mother also asked her for a vomit bag because she was nauseous, to which the nurse responded "You don't need it, you're not going to vomit, believe me" and ignored her and left- she wouldn't provide her with a vomit bag. My mother was then extremely nauseous and was shouting "please vomit bag" and another nurse handed her one. When she did then need the bag, the nurse that had refused to give her one said "abnormal, you shouldn't vomit, this is abnormal". The bathrooms were also not clean. The recovery bay receptionist asked my mother "did you call someone to pick you up" when she could barely speak and was super drowsy. They were calling other patients pick up, however they never ended up calling me (her pick up person). When I got there and told the receptionist I am here to pick her up, she looked at me and said "Can I finish my sentence?" I did not know what she was talking about until she pointed at her screen where she was typing something although she had paused to attend to me after I waited for a few minutes at the front desk. This is absolutely detestable, especially for a private hospital, I am absolutely shocked at the staff at this hospital. We have been to public hospitals that have had better staff and treatment of their patients by ten fold. The nurses we encountered have no care or patience for the patients, are rude and cruel, condescending and definitely should not be in the health sector. Would not recommend this hospital to anyone ever, you're better off going to a public hospital.

Very happy with how my husband was taken care of when he had his knee replaced and the rehab he did after the operation. Take my hat off to everyone in hospitals with the current pandemic. You are miracle workers who risk your own safety to help others. God bless.

Such a wonderful hospital and I am simply shocked at some of the negative reviews. My father had surgery and rehabilitation here and the entire stay was really wonderful and everyone was so caring and thoughtful. The rehab doctor and staff were truly lovely and my brother and I truthfully didn’t have anything to be negative about...it was good that visiting was relaxed because COVID limited it but that wasn’t the hospital fault and was pleased to see that they took the extra measures but pleased we could visit more often when it was relaxed. Wonderful hospital that would recommend to anyone. Heard too that mental health wards is opening this year which is great and needed in this area.
