Would never come here again. We brought our 10 week old newborn cos he was having some feeding issues and extremely fussy. Getting admitted was fairly quick but while waiting they didn’t create any space for us to isolate our newborn from all the germs even though there were areas that could be used. Once admitted they did the bloods and pee test and told us we needed to stay overnight. They said they had the results at 2am and it’s 1pm the next day and still no doctor has come to the ward. Have been asking the nurses and all they are saying are the doctors aren’t answering their phones. Like seriously it’s a Saturday morning and my baby is being exposed to so much bacteria just sitting here when they are ready to send him home only because a doctor hasn’t come to sign it off. Total joke i will be taking this further for the lack of care and attention what a horrible place

2 doctors work in this place at night, average waiting time is 6 hours Reasons of giving 2 stars are 1. Stupid idea to have the Christmas tree flashing at mid night when kids trying to sleep during such a long wait, we don’t need to see Christmas decorations at emergency, got money? Hire more doctors 2. Triage nurse with a very solid attitude, not rude, but we don’t feel that she is here to help and she likes her job

No complaints about staff and hospital services but who runs and manage this place really needs to do something, to improve the service. Children emergency and there is no way to park anywhere near the emergency room. Main car park clearance is only 2mt and if your car is higher bad luck! We had to walk 700mt with my son on crutches and i don't want to imagine if you have a real emergency. It is so ridiculous to see there is a small drop off zone. Ahah So what a parent alone, in an emergency, is supposed to do? Emergency is emergency...not a planning two days before how to get to the emergency room. How poor and pathetic this is? May be a great hospital but this is really bad.

My kid was admitted in both SCH(Randwick) and CHW(Westmead) in two separate times and more than 1 week each hospital, thus I could compare between the two: - Clearly Randwick facility and equipments are slightly better than Westmead and the floor plan is more straight forward than Westmead since they were established later than Westmead. Yet Westmead has better surrounding environments(outdoor play ground, lots of tree) which makes you feel fresh every morning. That was the only thing I could see as an advantage of Randwick. - Staffs in my opinion in Westmead(CHW) are so down to earth and friendly compared to Randwick(SCH) unless you are a Caucasian background. For this I, myself as an Asian Background, have seen throughout my stay from several occasions in SCH which i felt shame on it. - The one thing that made me sick in Randwick was from day one i found 2 take away containers of foods(Rice, Curry) in the kitchen fridge and until the day i check out over 2 weeks they were still sitting there. I raised my concern to one the staff and she said”sorry I am not im this ward, you can talk to the nurse at the desk”? One of the most irresponsible respond i have heard in my entire life. The other Kitchen had carer food and kids formula in the same fridge, which i thought normal until when I stayed in Westmead, then I see how organise and clean and well looked after in Westmead’s kitchen as they checked everyday for perishable food. - Doctors and Nurses in my opinion Randwick is no way near Westmead in term of experiences and caring regardless of which background you are come from. In short, I think if you are serious about your Child’s well being, better choose Westmead Children Hospital despite they are both in the same network. Unless you are Caucasian background.

We attended here through a transfer from Bankstown for my son, they kept us one night before deciding to do a blood test. During the night the nurses neglected to flush my sons cannula causing it to block and be useless. Doctor ordered test to be done at 8am. 10:40am bloods are finally drawn, delay was due to “it being a weekend and not having as much staff” (as if sick children aren’t as important on a weekend). Nurse drawing blood MISSES! Had to take again. Doctor does not receive results for 4 hours - all the while my 21 month old son has been fasted from food AND WATER since the night before! They decide they need to do a surgery, great surgeon, no problems with this part of things… however, that night as soon as my son and I fall asleep they decide to wake us up at 10pm and move us to another room because they needed the room we were in. We are taking about a sick infant who has JUST had surgery and is in pain. I am livid. Nurses are careless and rough, they have ZERO empathy and honestly do not care. This hospital is more interested in their renovations than their patients. Steer clear and opt to travel to Westmead if you can.

Grandson developed seizures every half hour on 28/12/21 and the hospital kept him overnight and said there was nothing wrong with him. They said it was behavioural and common in kid. We then took him to RNSH and they admitted him and diagnosed him as having partial seisures and tried to treat him. The doctor at Children's Hospital on duty was too quick to dismiss his case and it was a nightmare for parents being turned away when you know your child is not right. Subsequently, he stayed at RNS for 4 night and was transferred back to Children's Hospital in Randwick, where they then perform more tests to confirm his seizures and treat him.

My daughter just had an operation here. I want to thank all the staff for being so professional and friendly. Having a daughter need an operation at such a young age was really daunting for us as parents but they made everything go so smooth it was quick and painless. So thank you very much. God bless all of you

We came in here during our visit in sidney as our daughtecr has had a fever. After being checked by a GP we referred here as weneeded to take a bloodtest. After being check into a consultation room we waited about 3hours as then i realized people who came in later were all attended to over us and their reasoning is we are '3rd in line' and no other explanation. About 4hours in... a youth doctor came in to check on us finally but he ran out saying theres emergency without any explanation for our daugther while i still saw him chatting and on his computer outside our room.... at this point its already been 5 hours we left instead because our daughters fever went up instead.......... Parents if u value your child stay away from this hospital as u see all i need is a bloodtest to comfirm whether my child has dengue fever but they cant be bothered to care and continue to make u wait for their pleasure

Our son who is a year and a half had 4 times cannula insertion in the hospital, the nurses and doctors were nice and friendly, but as parents, we really hope modern medical professional can reinvent the ways of finding blood veins for babies. It was painful to watch our child traumatized and tortured for many unsuccessful attempts, very bad childhood memory for him...

This is for the emergency room- i'm not going to complain about the 3 hour plus waiting time before finally seeing a doctor, although that wasn't great. The doctor asked us questions like where do you live but didn't ask what is the medical history of your child- when we told her he had an infection two weeks ago she said "you didn't tell me that!" Well you didn't ask and it is your job to ask relevant questions. She would repeat certain questions and muddle up the information given to her. Then after confirming he had a throat infection she said I will have to ask the advice of my Superior. Ok, 20 mins later she doesn't come back. So I ask one of the nurses, because by this stage our son is exhausted, and the nurse replies there are more sick children than yours so wait. Yes, I'm aware of that but I thought she was just consulting for a moment then coming back. We decide to leave as we had a repeat script of an antibiotic. Half an hour later we receive a call from the doctor saying a script is at the hospital if we want to pick it up. I don't understand, she knew he had an infection so why didn't she just write the script on the spot? I felt sorry also for the other families waiting for hours with us and after us.

Our 3 month old baby boy was seen at the ED because of a high fever. Dr convinced us that a catheter would provide an uncontaminated sample to test for a UTI & a blood test for any other infections. The urine test came back contaminated and the blood vial had expired so basically we tortured our baby boy for nought....pointless and savage.

very poor service. I took my child with fever of 39.5 and sitting there for around one hour to be seen by triage nurse. A few patients were reviewed by nurse before us despite they came after us. when I ask them why they said your kid looks well , I asked how did you know he is well before the nurse examine him , then they responded from distance we assessed your kid. I said my child even with high temperature might sit somewhere doing nothing and it does not mean he is well. my child was examined by a GP registrar instead of a paediatric registrar which was disappointing for a paediatric centre in sydney.

Very inefficient. The other side of the wall are kids/parents waiting for hours while the other side I can see staffs chatting not even bothered by the looks of it. No one even cared if patients are alright, no one asked if they need food or something.

Amazing! So attentive so caring and very generous! The nurses and Doctors are all nothing but amazing! They care for what you are concerned about for your child, they take the time to listen and analyse your child. They don’t give up! They don’t turn you away! They will keep your child until they are better! They don’t treat your child any different from other patients. They’re where you want to be when parents world is caving in with empty answers from elsewhere. They will find out what is wrong and they will manage it till the very end! Children and parents feel so comfortable. Not only does the child receive the care they need they also focus on the parent who is dealing with it all. Thank you from the bottom our hearts. Not one nurse, Doctor, staff and patients has ever made me doubt this hospital.

My daughter was coughing continuously at night so we drove 10kms to this hospital and ended up waiting for more than 3 hours from 3am-6:30am at the "Emergency" and left home finally because we were still not seen by a doctor. Worst hospital they have no idea what Emergency means.

My daughter attended the emergency department at the Sydney Children’s Hospital- Randwick. We stayed in the emergency department for one night and were then moved into the “short stay” ward for three more nights. My daughter was operated on whilst a patient at the hospital. My daughter (and I) received a very high level of care from all the staff that we encountered during our stay. These include the staff in emergency, the surgical team, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and a very special mention to the wonderful staff on the ward. We are very grateful and feel very fortunate. Thank you Sydney Children’s Hospital- Randwick

We were waiting for 5 hours and 30 minutes in an emergency with a 6-month-old baby in a freezing cold waiting room. Just a regular day, not busier than usual. It is sad that a metropolitan hospital in the middle of a city has such poor management. The doctors were kind and examined her in the end. We got some medicine and a referral to our GP.

Thank you so much to the nurses or doctor especially the nurse in reception at the front. Came here due my 1.5yo had a pulled elbow. She cried for over 1 hour before i decided to bring her to ED on Sunday 24/9/23 afternoon. Panicking but the nurses made me feel everything under control. In less than 5 sec. They fixed my baby girl hand.

Is this honestly a children’s hospital? Upon arrival after being transferred from Campbelltown for my 5 week old baby to undergo surgery due to a blocked stomach we were met with extremely close beds in children’s ed, no isolation what so ever. Numerous beds were occupied with families coughing, no face masks, no hygiene. We tried to close the curtains numerous times to protect both us and our bubs but they were ripped back open by nurses. My baby was starved for almost 2 days yes that’s right, almost 48 hours without 1 single bottle because they had no idea on when his surgery was going to take place. (Be mindful we were already on the urgent emergency surgery list). My bubs was vomiting green to brown bile and it got to a point where we were considering being transferred again. Multiple nurses were rude, especially when we asked nicely “where are we on the list as he is not well” we had to ask the nurses to either remove or replace cannula as it had been in with dried blood turning and twisting inside his hand. Arriving into the children’s ward c1 south we were pleased to have such nice caring nurses doing there best for all the bubs. In the end the surgery went well but despite our experience many healthy bubs and families will now fall sick, everything we touched we washed our hands and sanitised, we were extra clean, now 2 days after being discharged everyone has the flu and our 5 week old bubs is sick. If you know a child has the flu or cold isolate them or move the healthy families somewhere else, it’s a disgrace how a hospital can post sign in children’s ed “this is a clean hospital, when in fact it was far from it” This hospital can be discriminative. Numerous times I seen other kids be seen and treated a lot better then other kids that had a different cultural background. This was utterly disgusting to see and hear I would like to thank the nurses in C1 south for doing a fabulous effort and the surgeon who was able to fit us in at 8.30pm for our bubs blocked stomach, I hope the health director/manager can look at the above issues and rectify them as no parent should be transferred to a hospital just to come out and have a newborn sick because they don’t care about where they place them

Why are we checking in ??? Been doing this for 2 years and haven’t received 1 alert. Why do they really want our info ?? Is Joe Biden the president of Australia too. Adults mask, children none. Tell that to my 3 year old who got covid. And the witch of a nurse tells me to pull my mask up while 2 doctors have no masks talking in the hallway. And the complete contempt the out patents section have for peoples time. Who is responsible for administrating this waste of taxpayers money ?

Terrible all round, doctors guess 5 diagnosis before making up their mind which one, parent is to sleep on a seat all night for days on end, no food is offered to parent at all, was told a patient transport was booked at 1.30pm to take my son to another hospital it’s now 6.30pm and have heard nothing. Try avoid bringing your child here.

We presented to the Emergency Department on Saturday night. Our Little one had a suspected leg fracture. From triage to discharge the process was streamlined with minimal waiting times. All up we spent 4 hours from triage to discharge with a cast insitu. Thank you, for the pleasant experience. Despite all that was going on for us as a family and seeing our little one in pain. The staff made a world of a difference, especially the patient liaison officer who constantly touched base with all of the parents and carers within the waiting area. Would be great to see more patient liaison officers in other emergency departments too.

Can't thank the staff here enough for the wonderful care they took of my son. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital with a possible spinal injury after body surfing and getting dumped at Coogee beach. The staff were so great They made it as stress free as possible. I was amazed at how well they were with all the kids.No matter whether they were screaming or, like my son, strapped to a bed so they couldn't move. They gave him a tv and kept him occupied because it's not easy keeping a 9 year old quiet in the middle of the day. I was terrified and they were so great with me. Honest but comforting. (BTW, all ended up fine and my son is back surfing the waves) ;)

Went to Medical Day Unit yesterday and my daughter was seen by Doctor Steve Gluckman. He is very professional, efficient and caring, the doctor everyone want! Nurses here are friendly and helpful. While we were in the waiting room, the clown doctor, Dr Quack came to visit the kids. Kids laughed and had a great time. What an exceptional experience. This is such a fantastic place and we are so lucky to have it. Every time we have taken our daughter here in her 4 years all the staff have been nothing but thorough, caring, considerate and respectful. We have never had a an excessive wait time and all our concerns are taken very seriously without ever being made to feel like we are wasting anyone's time. Today I took my daughter in following a fall and bang to her head, we were seen within 5mins of walking in and she was in an observation bay within 10mins. Just couldn't have asked for anymore.

My 15 week old daughter received amazing care here even though when we presented was outwardly looking and behaving quite well. We had a 4 day stay in the end with the triage team taking her only symptom seriously. We were in ward C1 South and every nurse we interacted with displayed enormous empathy and care for both my daughter and me as a parent. On the 11th November 2019 my GP faxed an urgent referral letter to Dr.Krishnan's department. My daughter called to confirm if they have recieved the fax by which they said that they will call back with appointment details or letter will be sent home WITHIN 2 WEEKS! My daughter called back after the two weeks to ask what is going on with her appointment only to recieve an answer "Dr.Krishnan won't be checking you since you're 17". The referral also had an urgent stamp the staff of the Doctor's deparment or the Doctor herself did not contact my GP which delayed my daughter's treat. I am extremely disappointed of the way the ladies on call replied back and also the way the doctor responded to the urgency on my daughter's situation.

The craniofacial clinic doctor and nurse are useless. Even homeless can be a doctor here. She just blablabla, asked you go home and trust natural, even she found issues. If we only can trust natural, why we need doctor in the world. Really hopeless!!!

Doctor Kirk is a master at his craft, after my child suffered a sever disease of Ligma he was able to not only treat it and was also able to provide a cure and vaccine for it. 5 Stars Mr kirk needs a raise.

Such supportive people and amazing nurses and Drs. Bringing your child to the hospital is scary enough but the hospital made me feel heard and helped me feel confident leaving and continuing the treatment at home.

Perfect staff and great facilities for a children’s hospital. We were transferred here for my children’s appendicitis. So I cannot comment on emergency waiting times here. But I suppose it is a common problem everywhere in Sydney, as we also had to wait from 8 pm to 3am in RNSH just for them to understand that they cannot treat us there.

I can not thank the staff at the hospital enough. I took my grandson to the hospital and the staff were very friendly, helpful, efficient and knew exactly what to do for him. I would definitely recommend that you take your kids there if they ever need medical care.

Horrible experience after taking my son to the emergency after advice from my doctor. The nurse who came out was extremely rude, couldn't care less and even yelled at my son. A formal complaint has been made - this nurse cannot work with children!

My 4 month old daughter received poor care, no further testing, no clear communication or outcomes, no discharge letter provided. 6 hours i was there to then find out we were being palmed off to another hospital (their reason was we were not from the local area). Geez wonder if they turn away patients that are in even more need than we were. Pretty disgusting service. This review relates to care provided by "dr kate".

Appalling service I waited more than 38mins just for this nasty b nurse to rush and scuffle my daughter in such an aggressive way. I watched her take her time with other patients but because my daughter is Asian she chose to speak to me with such disrespect. She was extremely rough with my daughter, grabbing her leg with one hand putting the tag on aggressively and very tight whilst shoving the thermometer in her arm pressuring her arm down all at the same time rushing me to answer her questions, whilst my daughter is crying hysterically in discomfort. I was trying to comfort my daughter as she was extremely horrible with complete disregards of her actions. I told her several times to be gentle she ignored my request and continued to rush and aggressively handle my child. I am extremely disappointed in the level of care my daughter received. It took a lot for me to calm my daughter down, she did not care how rough she was and just dismissed us to the waiting area. After waiting another two hours for a dr to attend my child’s needs I ended up leaving and seeing my GP where Both my daughter and myself was treated efficiently and with respect. Sydney children’s ED nurses need to be re assessed. You can’t discriminate and treat certain patients appalling just because your ignorance and racist.

Dear Parents, if your child is diagnosed with a pituitary tumour DO NOT let ENT Dr Catherine Banks operate on them. Go to St Vincent's Hospital Sydney. The St Vincent's Hospital's Multidisciplinary Pituitary Team is the most experienced in NSW, currently caring for more than two thirds of all pituitary patients in the State. Their team includes ENT surgeon Professor Richard Harvey who is more experienced than Dr Banks. Your child deserves the best and most experienced pituitary doctors.

My 7 week old was transferred to Sydney Children’s ICU with RSV. All staff in the ICU were absolutely amazing. He then was put on the ward in C3WEST. Again, everyone was so kind and caring towards not only him but me as well. I’m so thankful for all they did for my baby! I cannot fault them at all.

😠 Doctor was half an hour late for my skin check appointment and once taken into her room it was all very rushed. My skin was very briefly 'checked' and before I could even make conversation she said I was done. She left the room and I wondered if that was really it??? I was in there for a total of 2...

😐 I’ve had a bit of a mixed bag here which is fine if it’s bulk billed. However, it costs $40 (the gap) to get my results (even when they are fine) I think this is unreasonable. I also feel like they’re a bit dismissive of my illness which if left untreated can lead to serious complications. This plac...

😠 Today I came in for an iron infusion, after my consult with Dr Biswas I was sent to reception but was told to sit down again. I had no instructions on where to wait, so I sat close to the Drs office. Dr Biswas saw me sitting there and seemed annoyed. I told him I was instructed to sit by reception....
