A great example of why taxpayer funded infrastructure should not be handed to a private company to run for profit at a higher cost to government that the public system. Long delays due to lack of staff with patients being consulted in the waiting room having personal health concerns discussed in front of other patients. After waiting four hours I was lucky enough to be ushered into a corridor and sat outside a staff meal room to be consulted by a doctor in the corridor. After being forgotten about for two hours I was discharged an hour later. Avoid if you can.

I usually don’t write reviews as I prefer giving the benefit of the doubt as we are all human but I’ve had more than one bad experience at this hospital and I want to save other people from experiencing the same. Awful nurses, awful doctors. Have had three horrible experiences in emergency now. (Long story short) the doctors and triage nurses are extremely condescending, don’t even let you get a word in or actually care what you have to say. Absolutely zero beside manor, not even a slight ounce of fellow feeling. The intent they have is to get you in an out without actually properly assessing you and caring for you (I’ve been discharged without being assessed correctly by these nurses and doctors and have had seriously been injured. I’m appalled to be honest. I could go on, but I’ll leave it at that. If you have the choice, go elsewhere.

I took my son to emergency dept midnight because he had severe abnormal pain and been vomiting. We had to wait for 5 hours until around 4am next day morning and finally we saw the the doctor, and we were told he might have appendicitis but need ultrasound to confirm if he needed surgery. So he was organised to the ward. We were told the ultrasound was scheduled at 8am because of emergency with fasting. Believe or not, now is 12:20pm, we are still waiting for ultrasound to be taken. My son didn’t get dinner previous night because of vomit, and he had to skip breakfast and lunch because of fasting requirements. Now we are still waiting after 5 hours from scheduled time. I have been checking with the nurse and front desk what was happening? The answer I got with cold faces was that it will be coming when it is his turn, without no explanation or urgent attention. This is ridiculous for the case what they have said in the beginning for emergency, and has been scheduled for 8am. The ladies in the nursing area were just chatting and giggling without minding the patients, that my son needs to be suffering with the pain and starving to death. This service and attitude to the patient are unacceptable. Now it is 12:30pm, WE ARE STILL WAITING AFTER 5 HOURS PLUS ANOTHER 5HOURS WAITING.Northern beaches Hospital just ruin the public health reputation.

I had the worst experience here today. As my mother had a stroke at age 28, if I get any symptoms (as a 24 year old) I need to go to hospital immediately just in case. I experienced left side facial numbness and left hand tingling. I initially went to the GP who wrote a referral and went straight to the hospital after that. By the time I got to the hospital, it would have been within an hour of my symptoms occurring. I was then left in the waiting room for 3.5 hours without seeing a doctor as they said it was just too busy - regardless of my stroke like symptoms. When I went in to see the doctor, he was told by the nurse that I had a “mild headache”. I was appalled and shocked by the treatment. After an additional 1 hour of waiting after my 10 minute chat with the doctor, I was sent home without any tests done and was told to just take a Panadol next time. I did have tests completed for a similar event over a year ago at a different hospital which was their rational for not doing anything, but I do feel that their approach to treating a possible stroke negligible. I will never come back to this hospital.

Hi i want to share the worst experience about an emergency department!! First of fall I don’t think so they need to say this section is an Emergency Department. For my knowledge an Emergency department should be more convenient and quick then normal services!! My wife she is pregnant and not feeling well. She got some pain in her abdomen. But we been told just wait outside doctor will come and see her. But it’s already been more than 3 hour!! No one came, I can’t believe it its in Emergency department. Please if you want to make sure you have at least 7-8 hour of your time then later on what you will hear from doctor everything ok just take painkillers. I mean seriously.

Amazing staff and hospital. Every nurse and doctor I’ve seen have been so lovely and accommodating especially in paediatrics, special care nursery and the birthing ward. Both public and private rooms are clean, spacious and nice. With the shortage of staff, they are doing a fantastic job. So grateful.

17 month old son was admitted to the paedriatric area of the Emergency Department. Waited 2 hours just for my sick child to see a doctor, while the nurses and doctors chatted non-stop at the nurses station about their weekend plans and back in their uni days. Meanwhile, I'm listening to ill children in the ward coughing, crying, whimpering. Very disappointing experience for a so-called Emergency Department. No sense of urgency to treat very sick, very young patients. Walked out after 3 hours of waiting and doctors apparently "too busy" (chatting and laughing). Will go to Royal North Shore Hospital in future. Much better standard of care there.

Go to royal north shore hospital the doctors and staff are more experienced the staff didn’t think it was concerning that I was dropping weight so fast I had an horrible experience here I will never come to northern beaches hospital again at the emergency department the female Indian doctor said my mental health and anxiety was the reason I was feeling so unwell and discussed my personal details in front of everyone in the waiting room what happened to patient confidentiality? I ended up losing 15kilos in a month for the doctors to take my stomach gastritis and being unable to swallow seriously

Minus 5 stars! Arrived at 830pm with my 14 year old son with a deep cut on the palm of his hand. Watched patients come and go. They would wait for an hour or two and speak to reception staff who didn’t appreciate being interrupted with their chitchat. To be told we have no idea how long. Then encouraged to leave to come back next day to the medical centre attached to the hospital. More than half the people who were triaged left. Doctors come out and call the names of people who have left to not return again for another hour or more. So if the patient they called from ER Waiting Room has left why aren’t they back within minutes calling the next patient. An extremely rude nurse finally did some sort of head count at 1:30am. After 5 hours of waiting I explained that my son had school the following day and I had work and asked if she had any idea how much longer we would be waiting. She rudely said that she was not forcing us to stay. We could leave. We could go medical centre tomorrow. Came back again to encourage me to leave again and was annoyed that I was frustrated. Told me that waiting 16 hours to see a doctor was not unusual! Maybe at NB Hospital but never at RNSH. I should known better to drive straight past and go to RNSH but the temptation that this hospital is 10 minutes from home overcame my better judgment. Never again

I was in the ER at 2pm for a chainsaw cut to my face. They treated me after 2 hours just to stop the bleeding. I then waited until 00:00am for the operation without drinking water or eating anything. They sent me home to return at 7:00am the next day (My last meal and water I drank was at 00:00am) and I did not have the operation since they said my private insurance would not cover anything at all. I had to go to the Royal North Shore hospital where I was surprised at how efficient they were, fast, clear in their messages and they solved everything for me in less than a 2 hours. Your hospital is a robbery, a theater of lies, deception and only the infrastructure is new but the staff is totally useless, inefficient (and by the way you have many who are walking through the hallways, drinking coffee or talking about nonsense instead of working) and I am completely surprised that this is in a "private hospital". I had several fights with the administration and they did not solve my problem at all. The diagnosis they gave me at the public hospital was much more precise than in your "fancy, useless, show off private hospital" where you said I had a head injury when it was just a cut on my right cheek according to the public hospital which made much more sense to me. Of course! Otherwise we couldn't charge you $2,500 for the hospitalization plus the other circus clowns to justify a $6,000 performance. You are a terribly bad quality butchery! I also want to add that your waiting chairs are more torture than the accident I had, in the public hospital I had better reclining chairs that I could safely take a nap and not the poor quality chairs that ruined my back. You are thieves and scammers! Get to work or dedicate yourself to another business and not scam people!

The high standards which we are accustomed to, are being met, and in many ways, exceeded at this "new" hospital. I've lived in the Northern Beaches for over 25 years, and hospital visits were always a trek.....closest for me, was RNSH, however, surgeries were mostly at Manly. A recent ambulance episode confirmed what I had hoped. The staff at Emergency were fantastic.....busy, yet attentive. The best care I could hope for. Even a visit to their drive in Covid Testing yesterday, proved fuss free, and certainly better than queuing on a footpath, though I wish some porta loos would be placed near the queue! The staff were so busy, yet soldiered on continuously regardless of the drizzle and having to wear masks and gowns and face shields... A 5 star hospital, with 5 star staff. Thank you NBH!

I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this might help someone else. I waited over 4 hours to see a doctor in emergency. After an hour of waiting a couple can through & was sent to a doctor immediately after coming in. I understand that some cases are more urgent than others but with over 4 hours of waiting in excruciating pain I feel that I could’ve been more taken care of. I was given several doses of medication but nothing could ease the pain. My partner then spoke to the nurse to ask for an estimated wait time as I was laying on the chairs in pain. She proceeded to tell him that it was between 1-6 hours & “ i made this clear to your partner in the beginning”. I was never given an expected wait time I was only told to take a seat until my name was called by a doctor. The nurse then started making passive aggressive comments to other patients coming in that “ other patients have complained because there was enough presence in the waiting room” I wouldn’t usually complain because I know the climate of hospitals at this present moment but I felt extremely uncomfortable in the waiting room after being victimised in front of other patients.

I gave birth to my son as a public patient at Northern Beaches Hospital in Feb, 2023. The midwives and doctors were all very nice, kind amazing. Specifically a MASSIVE thank you. Everyone was so supportive and professional and worked tirelessly towards a healthy outcome for my baby and myself. I really did feel like my family was well looked after on our very special day, even though we are not English native speakers. Especially out of the hospital home visits from the midwife. That was really super helpful, and the process was great, which saved my son actually. Then when my son was 2 months old, we got covid, and we were well looked after again at this hospital. We got a private room! I highly recommend this hospital, it has been such a positive experience!

Just spent the night in the short stay ward after being admitted via EC. Every aspect of my care from admission to discharge was nothing short of excellent. Every nurse, doctor & support staff were caring, professional,& empathetic. I would have no hesitation to recommend this hospital. Well Done

I was at northern beaches emergency department on Tuesday most of the waiting chairs were empty n I spent more time waiting than being treated or evaluated at the end of the day before going home I was not given the results of any of the tests that they done and they also did not send the results to my doctor also I was not invited to give feedback about my experience at the hospital and I think that's because they don't really want to know customer satisfaction levels? After whole day of waiting they could not even diagnose my medical problem n asked me to stay overnight which I declined!

I Presented in emergency with a physical injury, After consult with triage (hour and a half wait) I gave my details to reception and proceeded to wait to be called out for my X-ray. The x-ray was never booked. After another two hours I asked reception what happened, only to find out I'd been waiting in the hospital for absolutely no reason at all. My options were try again the next day or wait for whole process to start over. A very dehumanizing experience. The worst feeling is I need to go back there and beg for help from a system that obviously doesn't care

The process of admitting and preparing patients is extremely slow. Lack of communications from RNs is disappointing. Not even to minimum standard level for a private hospital. I attended the hospital at 9 30 am and still waiting for my surgery at 2pm, not sure how much more I have to wait. Ive been fasting since 8pm last night and totally dehydrated, have the worst headache right now. And not to mention they handed me a hefty bill for this poor service

Rudest staff member (borderline bully). We were patiently waiting in line for our COVID test slightly before opening, and like every other covid testing facility we’ve been to the cars all line up at the entrance before opening to ensure minimal wait times. Just because we were lining up before opening and unsure where to wait, we were verbally abused and called “idiots” and “if you were human you’d have common sense”. I tried explaining my reason for lining my car up at the testing entrance and he just kept telling us, “if you were actually human you’d have some common sense, you idiots”. All I asked was do you know where we should wait? He repeated the above about 5 or 6 times with no regard for my question 😂 Thanks Mr. Security!

I like to give credit where credit is due. I had a wonderful experience here if that possible when. you are unwell. Everybody was super professional and super friendly .. I felt very looked after. Thank you for all the doctors, nurses and orderlies who made my brief stay so easy. Apart from my experience I would like to share something special.. and that is how they treated an elderly patient in the bed next to me. They treated her with compassion, empathy, humour .and most of all patience.... to me that is a great sign of a society is doing the right thing by it's people and make me realise we are very lucky to live in Australia. Thank you. db

My local hospital is the Royal North Shore. I have been treated there many times and I am fully conversant with the proficient level of service that hospital provided to me. I was helping a close friend that checked himself into the Emergency Department of the Northern Beaches Hospital. To my dismay, the nurses that attended to him from the evening to overnight to the next morning were sub-standard and what worse was they had little to zero care for a patient. The overnight nurses (literally with non-stop eyes rolling and noses up) were the worst and it really felt like they were doing you a huge favour instead of their job. My friend that was in constant pain wasn't even demanding. All this time, there was so much chit-chat (and laughing) at the nurses and doctors' desk area. The Doctors that attended to my friend were much more professional but the nurses were a real let down.

Nothing but praise! From the very efficient admission process, to the caring staff, great anesthesist, super friendly and reassuring theatre staff, incredible dedicated and super skilled Dr Gambhir and his registrar and such loving, professional, caring ICU staff, I could not have asked for a better hospital experience. I have received the very best of care on offer in Australia. I will be for ever grateful.

My first time in Northern Beaches Hospital, I was not impressed of the attitude/behaviour of mostly staff members from the admission staff member to the staff at the counter in level 1 to some of the nurses. One example is the staff member at the admission who chastised me for not wearing a mask but little does she know that I was adjusting the string so that it would fit snugly on my face. How about greeting the patient or your customer in a friendly way, that starts with good morning. I'm sure that will not hurt. The attitude was less to be desired. From there to the person at the counter at level 1 to some of the nurses who are abrupt and who does not smile. These staff members are pulling the nice and friendly staff members down. Lastly, I am very impressed with the professionalism and friendly attitude of the theater staff, from the doctor to the anesthetist to the nurses who assisted.

Go to a different hospital if you have this option. I was in hospital for an entire week with seizure/stroke symptoms. It was a constant twitching movement. The nurses accused me of faking it and discharged me. I was sent back to hospital 5 hours later with the symptoms getting gradually worse. I was told that I would be seen soon, and this continued daily with me only getting checked every 12 hours or later. I would be left alone the entire day, with no action being taken to diagnose or treat me. My symptoms became constant twitching movements that I had no control over. They did not test for anything, and gave me no answers over the period of 5 days. They attempted to diagnose it as something completely unrelated to what I was experiencing. My symptoms were gradually getting worse and resembling symptoms similar to a stroke. The symptoms stopped on their own on day 7 and I still had no answers for what I was experiencing or what could have Caused it. I am very disappointed in the way I was treated by staff and the medical professionals there. During the entire time I was given no answers to if my constant seizure like twitching would be permentant, and I was forced to prove I was not mentally unstable to a therapist, while they refused to make any further investigations into what I was suffering with. Upon asking for further testing I was told that I was being dramatic. When i was discharged with no answers yet again, I was treated badly, and recommend to go to a different hospital if I wanted any answers for my symptoms.

I have had my elderly mum and dad having to use the ER Dept of the hospital, including a couple of admissions. The level of care and service is incredible. The facilities are also first class. Obviously you wish you would never have to go to a hospital but the assurance of having such a good facility and staff who genuinely care so much is reassuring.

I recently attended the Medical Centre for a non urgent matter (crook liver) and was pleasantly surprised with my experience from reception staff and the registration system to Doctor. A nurse took my medical history prior to my seeing the Doctor,..and they were really professional and caring! I actually grew up in Bluegum crescent (across the road and went to Forest High) So was quite curious about this place. Great design and functionality and a fabulous new asset to the Northern Beaches! I wouldn’t mind spending a few days here and this place certainly deserves our community support in spite of a few recent negative hiccups!

It’s was the most horrible, stressful night of my life after my surgery there , my surgeon team was great , the nurse before the surgery were also ok ( there is nothing to do at this stage beside putting you in a bed and wait anyway) then after the surgery care overnight was hell , I had to wait 7 hours in my room crying with 90 of blood pressure begging for a doctor to come See me and help me with the pain I had ( they barely giving you nurofen there) they also refuse to give me a drip for 7 hours and let me get dehydrated as I couldn’t eat or drink anything or take any medicine because I was vomiting everything , finally at midnight after begging a rude doctor who didn’t care at all about me Accept to gave me a drip so I don’t get dehydrated till I faint and also to make me Stop harassing them for 7 hours . How hard is it to give a drip with painkillers and hydration to patient ???? I don’t understand, every hospital I have been did that to make you comfortable. I have now all the after anaesthesia issue like vomiting, sore throats, shaking , I can’t eat or drink anything without vomiting and they let me leave the hospital without a tough and came removing the drip before that was even finish so they could tell me that now I need to go back home !!! Another gentleman was also complaining about the same thing when I left .... I don’t recommend to anyone to go there .... terrible experience I nearly left overnight because I was scare for my life .

Unfortunately, my wife had surgery at this hospital and from the onset with a stuff up by them in regards to being booked in, to the the way she was ignored when we had to vacate. Some of the nurses were great, so credit where is due BUT other staff left a lot to be desired. This is what happens when the publics money is spent delivering such a hospital and having it run by a private concern. Not good Healthscope. I guess you just have to maximise your bottom line for the benefit of the shareholders any way you can. Train you staff so they may able to full fill their job obligations.

My wife has been a patient at Northern Beaches Hospital twice in April 2022, first for day surgery and then to the Emergency Department. The treatment she received on both occasions was exemplary: professional, caring and thorough. I cannot speak too highly of the Hospital's staff, from the admissions staff who accompanied her to the day surgery unit, to the nurses who cared for her on both occasions and the medical staff who looked after her and reduced her anxiety over what was happening. Thank you all so much!

I don't do bad reviews but I feel like the person/department needs to hear from us to do a little better. We had to visit the emergency department due to my son's recurring high temperature. Whilst waiting for blood tests results to come back (we had been there for almost seven hours), the attending doctor wanted to examine my child's throat. My son gagged when he used the tongue depressor. After three tries and my son (a sick child, haven't had anything to eat the entire day, waited patiently without disturbing others) still gagged. The doctor became irritated and said " EVERYONE WHO IS SICK HAS TO GO THROUGH THIS, DO YOU THINK YOU ARE SPECIAL? NO, YOU ARE NOT SO GET ON WITH THE PROGRAMME!!" I was speechless but I kept my cool and tried to get my son to do as he is told. On hindsight, I should have told the doctor to show a little empathy and respect, that remark he made was not necessary. I feel like I failed my child for allowing the doctor to verbally abuse him. On another note, thank you Jais for being so respectful and nice towards my son.

I’ve had 3 experiences at the hospital and every time the staff were amazing. I sliced my finger a few years back and needed surgery, I know I would have to wait a bit in A&E as it wasn’t a priority but that’s ok. The staff were very professional and I was scheduled for surgery the following day. I gave birth in the maternity ward last year publicly and the midwives and doctors were outstanding. I always felt I was in great hands. I stayed in two nights with my little girl in shared room, it was very clean and tidy. The midwives showed me how to breastfeed properly and even had a room to teach us how to bath and swaddle our newborn. Yesterday I went to A&E with heavy bleeding from a miscarriage and all the staff were exceptional. I got seen to quickly. Yes there is a bit of waiting in the bays in A&E and noise as others said but you’re not the only one in the department, other lives are happening all around and I personally don’t mind if the nurses and doctors laugh or chat, it’s shows good moral within the team, they were still constantly professional. Some of the reviews are very harsh, I don’t think people understand how great the Australian healthcare system is compared to other countries, they should be very proud of Medicare and the systems in place.

A Disgrace. It is a privately run hospital with a public emergency room. Last time I was there. 1) Chairs in waiting room were broken 2) Dosed up on Morphine twice before I was seen. 3) Despite being high as a kite, was asked to sign a disclaimer that certain risks had been explained to me (they weren't) 4) I ended up leaving after a 8 hour wait as when I asked for an escalation point as I was unhappy with my care the response of the Doctor was "there is noone to talk to". 5) I left and went to RNSH. 6) It became obvious that they had run unnecessary tests to generate more $$$$, as RNSH did not complete said tests and diagnosed fine. I would not go here for anything other than basic stitches. Terrible, money driven.

Spent three hours at the hospital, after having a panic attack in triage (after two others that morning) nurse told me to wait in the waiting room and control my emotions, given Valium. Spoke to another nurse who explained my stressors were simply a part of life that I should learn to manage better. Checked for suicidal ideation and discharged.

The emergency department is the worst! Avoid if you can. Sat for over 5 hours to get a couple of stitches & when we said how long we had been there they said you’re lucky most people wait for 12 hours! Very rude & no empathy what so ever. There is no structure and no updates of what’s going on. So many people needing help and no communication. The worst experience ever and no staff seem to care. We left without getting the stitches. Absolutely awful!

Still waiting in emergency. Could be here for a few more hours. Already been waiting for 4 hours to see a doctor. Understaffed. Second time this has happened. The last time I left after 4 hour but this time I 'm going to try and wait it out. Wish me luck. ? Couldn't do it. Ended up going home at 1.30 in the morning without seeing a doctor. Not sure if there will be a next time. Fool me once....

I had my twin girls at NBH 4 months ago. I cannot express how impressed I was with the birthing and maternity ward. I went privately and had Dr Jollow as my Ob (who is amazing) but all the midwives, nurses and staff were incredible, professional and made me feel calm and reassured. I had a traumatic birth with a stay in ICU, again so impressed with this ward. My girls were born prematurely so stayed in the special care nursery for a month. Words cannot express how incredible the staff and nurses that looked after my girls were, during such an emotional journey their care and support got us through. NBH is a fantastic hospital and I could not speak more highly of it. I know there was negative press in the beginning, but do not believe what you read until you experience it for yourself. Thank you to all the amazing and incredible doctors, nurses and staff at NBH, your job isn’t easy but you touch and help lives of others which leaves an impact.

Strange COVID-19 response. During the peak of the virus in Sydney ultrasound staff were not wearing masks, I was able to go in with my Fiancé for our baby ultrasound. Now in July with NSW being virtually virus free the staff are only now wearing masks. I am also not allowed to go to any appointments and have to miss the 34th week ultrasound of the baby even tho I sat in at the peak of the virus. To make it worse they won’t let me FaceTime in either. They are forcing birth partners to feel completely disconnected to the baby. My Fiancé also has pregnancy brain and it is difficult to be organised as I used to take notes in appointments and organise everything for her. The hospital contradicts itself in stating husbands or partners need to be involved for the pregnant partners mental health, yet they certainly don’t take action towards allowing this to happen. The most frustrating thing is the fact the hospital did not implement these measures during the peak coronavirus period, yet now when it makes no sense and is only detrimental they don’t let support people in to appointments, or even FaceTime. Here’s hoping nothing goes wrong with the baby with my Fiancé having no support, if not I hope the hospital understands their liability.

Furious that my father has been moved from room 24 Ward B simply because he is "not a private health fund member" when he is. If this was going to be an issue, it should have been ascertained when he was admitted. The fact staff have not checked, to me is abhorrent behavior, and as a significant shareholder of Brookfield, and therefore Healthscope, I will be speaking to the board, and if necessary dismissing the staff members responsible. If he is moved back to room 24 Ward B, or to a room with similar facilities and view within the next 24 hours, I shall rescind this review, but at this point in time, 1 star shall more than suffice.

AAA Aneurysm ascending aeorta, pains radiating up and down left and right arms for 3 days.. I waited 2 hrs didn't see a doctor until i was walking out the door, then she yelled out that she was a doctor, and had just got my paperwork, as usual too busy texting. I left the place, it is, as Rockerfellers would say "Worthless" The most important question that night was who's turn for a break? My previous visit, was for breathing difficulties, over 5 hrs waiting for a covid test result, of course they knew i had a prior condition.. guess what? Take 2 panadols and go home. This place is an abomination that should be closed, and a PUBLIC Hospital opened up somewhere else nearby. A lot of the staff are too busy playing games, going for coffees, or texting.

Don’t go here for Covid testing. The results are too slow 48-72 hours. Much faster if you go elsewhere eg North Shore Hospital or smaller clinics as you get results in 24 hours. That’s 1-2 days lost in notifying people at risk.

Very new hospital on the Northern Peninsula, carpark is easy to find but a little tight for larger vehicles. Staff are friendly and helpful. Signage is at times confusing but that's par for the course in large hospitals. Visited several times recently for a range of procedures and found the experience we'll above my expectations. 5 stars.

I had the most disturbing experience at the Northern Beaches Hospital. about 3 weeks ago, i felt really unwell so i asked my partner to drive me to hospital as my pain was beyond excruciating. She did at the time recommend that we go to the Royal North Shore Hospital instead but i was in too much pain to agree. Living in Dee Why made sense at the time to go to the Northern Beaches Hospital. Little did i know how wrong I was. As we arrived to emergency, my partner dropped me off, i was in a lot of pain, it was so bad that I collapsed onto the floor in front of the emergency entrance. I knocked on the door for someone to let me in, it took quite some effort for someone to come and release the door which was locked, the nurse then leaned over and said "GET UP" i was in so much pain, no care was taken to help me. I had no support to walk into the emergency room. When there i was shown to a chair, I was in such a world of pain, with so little assistance. I then asked if i could rest on a bed, the nurse told me" Stay here, nothing is going to change" I begged medical personnel for a bed, nothing was done to help me. After some begging i was told to go to an office where a nurse started to ask me the same questions which the previous nurse did. I dared to mention that i had already answered these questions, the nurse told me that i was rude. I told her that i was in pain, and needed attention, she got a little agresive then. From that point i said "I wish i had gone to the north shore hospital. Ho boy that did not go well. As the situation became more and more tense, I asked for my medicare card back, checked myself out of the emergency wards. I was really really unwell but i did not feel safe nor looked after so it was best for me to go, as this was getting no where. I was so unwell that on my way back to the car, i threw up on the hospital loan. My partner then drove me to the RNSH the drive felt interminable i was so sick my head was spinning and i needed to throw up. On my arrival at the RNHS my world began to change, i was immediately looked after, within minutes i had help form nurses, a chair to sit on, a helping hand, and most importantly a bed to res on to make me feel better. I was given pain killers, and made feel at ease. Nothing was a problem. If you are ever sick, FORGET COMPLETELY THE NORTHERN BEACHES HOSPITAL, IT IS A MISTAKE ON ITS OWN. WHO NEEDS TO BE STRESSED AND NEGLECTED WHEN UNWELL. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THAT NIGHTMARE OF A HOSPITAL.

I was just discharged from this hospital and I have never felt so upset with the way I was treated by hospital staff before in my life. I went in there as my friend was seriously concerned for me and although the initial processes and dealing with staff were good and very efficient, the moment I first spoke to the dr she was rude, judgemental and very short with me throughout the entire process. Based on her initial judgement of me and not the Symptoms that I presented with that required treating she spent all of about 5 minutes with me and wasn’t even able to diagnose me properly as she didn’t listen to me at all but instead performed a very invasive and unnecessary procedure. After near 4.5 hours I have left the hospital out of the complete feelings frustration, uncomfortable and worse with my sickness. I am now going to a different hospital to be treated properly.

The walls in this hospital are so thin that it is difficult to get any rest because of the noise. So make sure you take some ear plugs. Apart from breakfast the food is absolutely disgusting so make sure you have someone bring you lunch and dinner. The freezer in ward 5C is not up to the job so patients who have had recent joint replacements get cold packs for pain relief instead of ice packs. The one saving grace for this hospital is its staff and apart form one terrible experience with a horrible ICU nurse, the nurses are mostly professional, friendly and compassionate.

I had a total hip replacement (thank you Dr Chris Roberts) and spent 4 nights in ward 5C as a Public Patient in February and had an all over excellent experience: Communication: I was given a link to share with family and friends. They could check to see when I was in surgery, recovery etc. Made the whole process easier and my husband didn't need to contact lots of people to let them know how I was going. Staff: Impressive to say the least. Went out of their way to care for me. I was kept comfortable, informed and updated every step of the way. Meals: I can't believe that I actually enjoyed most of my hospital meals. There was a menu to choose from. If hungry between meals, patients had access to yoghurt, sandwiches, coffee etc in a fridge on the ward. Room: I was lucky enough to be given my own room and ensuite. It was the best room in the house with fabulous views. WIFI: Not the best. Some areas not working at all. I was fine with using my own data. TV: Pay approx $10 p/day through a private company. Disability parking. When I was being taken to hospital and being picked up, free parking was given by taking a photo of my disability pass to the concierge desk where they validated it. Aftercare: The hospital have arranged physio, taxi vouchers for appointments and some home care for me. I came away grateful for our excellent health system.

The medical staff is friendly, dedicated and doing the best they can. The management is a disgrace for the western hospitals. The internal processes are inefficient and the place is very unhygienic. Cleaners are only dry mopping the floors and emptying bins. If you take a child there, bring your own bottle of Glen 20 because you'll leave more sick than when you got there in the first place otherwise. Charges for parking are a rip-off. This place is run for profits and with health as key focus. I'm genuinely sorry for the medical staff to work for a management with this little integrity.

Last night 30/1/20 I had the misfortune(Mine!) of having to visit the casualty department of The Northern Beaches Hospital. I don’t really know where to begin. From being welcomed with not only compassion but a bit if fun ( mainly due to me not trying to laugh. Yes I had broken a rib) Then the various staff who guided me from a rest area to X-ray etc. I like a lot of residents on the Northern beaches have read different stories both good and not so good about our new hospital but if what I experienced in albeit a not overly serious situation (but bloody painful ?) All I can say is a very big thank you to all. And if hospital ever calls again yep I will be back.

One of the best hospitals in Sydney with good nursing staff. From foyer it is well guided using large notice boards. Clean area with good security . All nursing staff are very friendly. Actually it is help for the patient not from physical but from mentally. This hospital has a good reputation and with best consultants in NSW. This Hospital has a large carpark and no hesitation to park your car in the road side. Overall good hospital best of best

One of the worse hospitals in Sydney. The psychiatric ward should be a place to heal mental illnesses not making them even worse by giving more traumatic experiences to the patients.

8 Hours wait, still no results! We went in with my mother who was short breath and exhausted all,of a sudden . We were referred from the doctor at Warriewood had told us to go to emergency straight away. She has a history of AF with her hear and we were concerned it could be related . We arrived there at 12 midday Monday 11th July. After 3 hours was given an X-ray . They should have given a blood test at the time we thought then after 2 more hours was given a blood test and told approx 1- 1.5 hours for results. The doctor wasn’t aware we had an X-ray earlier. At 8 pm that’s 8 hours !!! We asked them politely and said no results yet. Mum literally had enough and wanted to go home even worse than she went in and I told them to send the results to the doctor. It’s not the staffs fault, they were very apologetic. We saw at least 5 people check them self out and leave. People who were brought in by ambulance with falls or whatever were just left in there in pain for hours as well. Lets hope we never have to go there again. Or anyone else , please take care 🙏 All the more reason to have kept Mona Vale hospital .

I gave birth to my first child as a public patient at Northern Beaches Hospital a week ago, the midwives and doctors were amazing. Specifically a MASSIVE thank you from the bottom of my heart to my midwives Emma and Mathilde and to Dr Candice and Dr Ruff. Everyone was so supportive and professional and worked tirelessly towards a healthy outcome for my baby. I really did feel like I was in good hands and that gave my partner and I the peace of mind we needed on our very special day. I was lucky enough to get a private room for my two night stay which was extremely clean and comfortable. In my two night stay the midwives on shift politely and patiently helped me learn how to properly breastfeed, swaddle and bath my baby. They offered pain relief each visit and made sure myself and my partner knew where the help yourself kitchen was which had food and drinks and the freezer was always stocked with ice packs for pain relief. Once out of the hospital my at home visits from the midwives were great, I once again felt comfortable and they patiently listened to and assisted me with any concerns. I highly recommend this hospital, it has been such a positive experience!

Nurses on ward 5a utterly amazing. After 48hrs of doctors not charting my regular medications (diabetic and heart issues) nurses had to call an emergency to just get docs to chart. Even then they got it so wrong. 3 days without diabetes meds, not good. Jefelin, ward manager is utterly amazing. All nurse on ward 5a don't get the credit they deserve. Kate and Paige were also amazing. It would of been a 5 star review if the doctors were as good as the nurses.

Emergency room is shocking. Do not go there. Got there a 2am with a corneal abrasion and had to wait until 8am. Clearly had to wait the morning doctor to start the shift. At 5 am I asked how many people in front of me and how long was the wait. The nurse told me that if I don't want to wait I can go home and come back in the morning, wow! All I needed was antibiotic eyedrops and a cream, a nurse should be able to help with just that! Unorganised and rude. Never again

Worst hospital I have ever been to. Was taken by ambulance to emergency for extreme chest pain, they ran an ECG and refused bloods to be tested. They left me waiting in the room for 3.5 hours with no testing done. The nurse was yelling at me saying you are 24 you will not die tonight. They refused to find out what was wrong with me so I left. After trying to leave they completely flipped and explained I was rushed in as a high category and needed to stay, however, had no urgency to treat me as I was waiting for 4 hours for nothing but a doctor to tell me I didn’t need bloods taken and to go home simply because my heartbeat looked “ok” They tried to force me to sign a waiver to leave that I was rejecting medical advice, I said no and walked out. (Do not sign this garbage) I will never be returning to this psychotic hospital.

Don’t bother going to the emergency if you need to be seen in under 3 hours. Family member having trouble breathing got sat for over 3 hours and when we complained to the staff about the wait we were escorted out by security for “causing a scene”… precious. Everyone who was waiting when we got there was still sat waiting when we left. Sick elderly, broken bones, people passed out on the waiting room chairs. Not sure if they’re severely understaffed or they’re just happy to let people suffer. Regardless, It’s a mess.

I arrived at midnight with serious pains in my abdomen, suspected appendicitis. When I arrived I waited around 10 minutes to be triaged, which did not seem too bad. However, I ended up waiting over 5 and a half hours for a doctor, and then a further 30 minutes for a prescription. The chairs in the waiting room were broken and extremely uncomfortable, especially if you have to wait during the middle of the night and you are trying to sleep. I was experiencing an 8/10 pain and it took the nurse around 30 minutes to give me a stronger form of pain relief. As I had not anticipated the wait being this long I was only wearing a tshirt and shorts (I left in my pyjamas due to how bad the pain was). It got quite cold waiting and at just before the 4 hour mark one of the cleaning staff approached and asked if I wanted a blanket which I appreciated. People arrived after me and were seen before me. The waiting room wasn’t even full, the doctors were only seeing about 2 patients a hour. This was unacceptable and I will never be coming back here. If I had known this would be the case I would have never considered coming here. To add on, The last time I was here I had been bitten by a cat. I arrived at 9:45am and got triaged quickly but similarly ended up waiting for hours to see a doctor. When I did I had a trainee nurse attempt to put the cannula in- he missed my vein and went straight through it causing a lot of bleeding and bruising. After this I sat around longer, and they debated whether to do surgery or not that day. I was told I would have it so I waited several hours in the waiting room (at this point it was late afternoon). They then came out and told me the surgery would be tomorrow, so they removed the cannula and made me sit around further (was about 5pm now). A little later they changed their minds AGAIN and told me surgery would happen so they put the cannula BACK IN. I waited around another few hours and was taken to a room only to be told SURGERY WOULD HAPPEN THE NEXT MORNING. Overall another extremely frustrating and disappointing experience and I would not be recommending this hospital emergency department to anybody. I have been to quite a few hospitals in Sydney and this has easily been the worst one. I had to leave one star to post, but I would rate lower if I could.

We should be supporting and lifting up our local healthcare workers for the selfless career they have chosen and the work they do for us.. this can only lead to even better outcomes for all. Thanks to everyone at NBH, you are appreciated.

I just wanted to take a moment to commend the staff of NBH. I came into emergency on Sunday night, needed x-rays and met with a doctor regarding my shoulder injury. Today I've come into the fracture clinic and now getting an MRI. On Sunday the er receptionists assisted me in finding a way home, as I live on an island and couldn't drive my boat due to my injury and informed my next of kin after I had left as I had no phone to contact them. Absolutely every single staff member I've met from the security to the waiting room staff, the staff at the receptions and doctors, including the cafe staff have all been so lovely, joyful, helpful, kind and wonderful. No one likes going to hospital but both times I've been here in the past week, it's been nothing but happy interactions with the staff and it's really made all the difference.  I wish I knew everyone's names to thanks but there has been over 15 staff I've met at one point or another, and all of them have been absolutely delightful.  NBH will be highly recommended by me and the hospital is extremely lucky to have such beautiful people representing it. Thank you for everything

Generally experience is great in Emergency, and doctor and nurse are open to discuss your concern instead of taking you as criticising their decision. My only concern is their thermalmeter - the under arm ones seem not accurate. When I use the traditional underarm mercury one it's 38. 8, but it shows on their thermalmeter only 37.3. So was initially told all fine, no temperature. I think they should get that updated.

Must say big thank you to Dr. Kian, 2 extra doctors that unfortunately I could not get the name and the nurses that helped our journey. It all started with my partner waking up with a severe pain, screaming out loud. We even called 000 and they were not supportive and Did not assist or inform the best way to procede. Anyway, story short the Doctors took us serious , were professional and gave good effort to sort it out my partners pain and find the problem. Thank you all for you professionalism and helping us out . I Know it should be tough working like 3am, but you legit made our day better - not only assisting and sorting out the problem but as well brought relief to my partner and I. In a place where we do not have any family around, and a lot of people neglect us and each other - your professionalism and willingness to help showed up that there’s good out there and hope , so for that : I thank you very much. (ps and also thank you for removing that bug from his ear, of course). Sending you all good vibes and that’s why I recommend this place.

We visited the Medical Centre at Northern Beaches Hospital today. There was a 2 hour wait as there were a lot of people waiting and we went at peak time (11am). The reception staff had a sign up so it wasn't a surprise. They have facial masks, tissues and hand sanitizer available upon entry and at the reception desk. Both my daughter and I needed to see a doctor for ear infections. We were first seen by a lovely nurse who thoroughly examined us and our history. We were then seen by Dr Penny Burns. Wow! I have never seen such a dynamic, positive, informative doctor in my life! Dr Burns also examined us thoroughly and explained everything to my daughter, interacting with her and even mentioned how much she enjoyed working at NB hospital. It was clear she loves her job as it radiates. Being a Sunday, it was impossible for us to see an ENT specialist, so best was to visit our GP the following day for a referral. Instead, Dr Burns called an ENT and explained our situations. She obtained thorough advice from the specialist and drew the ear canal, ear drum and visually explained what was happening to me and causing the pain. She took her time and didnt rush us at all. She was confident and sure of her diagnosis, this cannot be said by many who leave us feeling that they aren't really sure what to say. It was such a pleasant experience, from reception to departure. We visited as our GP was not available. I would recommend Dr Burns and the NBH Medical Centre to anyone who wants quality care outside of their GP's operating hours, or anytime otherwise.

I'm writing specifically about Ward 3B, the private mental health ward at Northern Beaches Hospital. I had a recent 3 week stay there and I can say it was just fantastic. It is a ward of only 20 patients, so you never felt like you were getting lost in the crowd and each patient had their own huge room with large bathroom ensuite with lovely shiny marble tiling right up the walls. The nurses were so caring and engaged and tended to be youngish which in turn attracts young patients as well as older. I was incredibly impressed with the psychology group program. They would usually divide us into two smaller groups each with its own group facilitator so people would feel more comfortable sharing. The unit was HUGE with a large outdoor area with luscious turf, free laundry facilities with powder provided, lovely views. I went there in a dreadful mental state and turned the corner in there. I owe it all to my great admitting psychiatrist and Northern Beaches Hospital!

Hate to have to do this to my local who has done me well in other past times, I’ve gone in on Saturday having heart issues, breathing issues, and feeling like I was about to collapse/have a heart attack, (all after having my first Pfizer shot) told the nurse at emergency, was told to wait in emergency room(which was atleast 20 minutes) all to be put into a bed put on an ecg and given me Panadol, no X-rays we’re performed (unusual) before any bloods were taken etc the first thing I was told “this has no relevance to the vaccine and don’t be worried to get your second dose” probably not the right thing to tell someone’s who’s regretting the first one and feeling like they’re about to have a serious episode… After hours of being in there, given more Panadol and half a Valium ?! They’ve released me to go home and tell me “we don’t know what it is but I’m sure it will ease off” poor effort I think for a heart and breathing issue…

took me a while to sort out what was going on with this place. The clientele just seemed weird for a private mental ward. Yes, they have a public ward and a private ward, but I was assured I was in the private ward. What they do is they LEAK public patients across from the public ward into the private when they are more well to free up public beds. I just couldn't work out how people with no possessions and who openly spoke of being homeless could afford private health cover. Because the food is better in ward 3B according to a patient who'd moved across, but I can tell you was absolutely dreadful by private hospital standards there was a lot of early queuing for food, people trying to get extra desserts etc. Just behaviour you don't see in a private hospital. There was a reluctance of public patients to admit that they were indeed public. Some openly lied, as I found with a lady who claimed she had private but the information she imparted was not consistent with sweeping changes the federal government has brought in that affect all funds. The public patients did not cope well with the questioning of facilitators in classes, not having been in educational contexts such as university tutorials where robust discussion including disagreement is allowed and encouraged. One lady would walk out quite dramatically if I questioned a facilitator. I'm pretty sure her interpretation of this was that I was just being disruptive, even if the facilitator was fine with it. You just don't get this in the private sector where there are more educated patients. The sum total of this was that there were usually many beds available while I was there with private patients checking out in a polite and understated manner and these beds then being filled with public patients. This mental health ward is fine in an emergency as is any public mental ward, with some brilliant and caring nurses as you definitely GET in the public. But just as patients who've got private cover tend to drift into a more luxurious private hospital setting when they've got over the worst of it in a public ward, so too will you wish to leave their so-called private ward!

Really great experience at the emergency department. All of the nurses, doctors and security guards I encountered were lovely, patient and kind. They were very thorough, but very effecient and helped keep me calm and comfortable. First experience at the hospital and would gladly go back. Thank you!

On the 26/10 I was admitted suffering chest pain,my 2 day stay at the hospital i had the the honour of being treated by multiple staff in multiple departments. On all levels, from specialist's, doctors, nurses, wardens, cleaners and those that brought me my meals,I sincerely want to thank all that I encountered in my short stay.At no time did I feel like a patient rather that I was cared for by family members. You are all a credit to the health industry and we are lucky to have you all.Thank you.

We were left to wait outside for over an hour with a 17 month old who was suffering a severe allergic reaction. The floor was not suitable for him to walk around on and after an hr of asking for a cleaner or somewhere else to wait as he was now clearly distressed sitting on my lap the whole time, I had to call the main desk to be asked to be admitted and put somewhere suitable for a toddler. The COVID check in staff in emergency department were extremely unhelpful and not willing to get cleaners or get help for a distressed child even after I asked a number or times

Very few staff wear name tags and now I know why. Had over $8000 fleeced from my VISA card which I only took in because I had to pay the insurance excess on admission (why don’t they do this prior?). Nil by mouth from 8am and wasn’t taken into theatre until after 5pm. No wardies to wheel me there, the nurses had to. Then back on the ward after 7 when the kitchen is closed and they only had sandwiches despite being advised I was gluten free. Food is pretty terrible anyway I would bring my own or go to another hospital. Spending my week of bedrest on the phone to police and bank trying to recover my stolen funds. And when I alerted NBH to the theft the response was woeful! Sorry to hear you’ve been hacked. Really? Nice building but terrible experience! Fingers crossed my surgeon isn’t the same standard…

Having been humilated at RNS who suggested it was better for me just to go home, i had to be forced to try this place. Fortunately they were amazing. The triage team threw me straight into a bed. I was diagnosed with extreme hypomegnesia and food poisoning. The care was great. I am on the spectrum and can be pretty difficult but everyone was patient, attentive as required, and supportive . The only problem i have is ward noise and thats mostly a patient responsibility. The walls are clearly waaaay to thin. Lying in bed, feeling close to death and hearing the intimate details of peoples phone calls is pretty awful, but- I admit- i have hypersensitive hearing so thats probably an unfair read. Food was fine and room was good. Its a hospital, not a hotel. 1 star reviews are clearly too silly to be taken seriously. Much appreciation Ward 4B

The medical centre within Northern Beaches Hospital were brilliant. Thank you to you all. I was very sick I went there 2 days in a row. The doctor rang me after hours. On 2nd day Advised me call an ambulance. I decided to wait until the next day to see if any improvement with which and present at A@E. They did do a number of tests that came back clear..... still very unwell. The point I want to make is that the easy assessment patients were seen straight away then sent on their way. Like myself there were patients waiting hours (8 hours) some very unwell children waiting hours. While waiting to be seen a doctor from medical centre gave me a call after hours agin to make sure I was ok I'm still not right this morning Cant get to see my normal GP for 2 weeks I feel I'm just important as the easy beats

Poor experience with Epic Pharmacy located in the Hospital. Staff need training on customer service and how to liaise with patients. After my treatment by a certain member of staff i would never reccomend. Its worth asking to get copies of your scripts on discharge instead and go elsewhere. Also cleanliness of hospital needs review, rooms not vacuumed daily (only when ppl were being discharged did i notice rooms were vacuumed).I had an extended stay as a private patient, care was good Drs and Nurses fantastic ( they deserve 5 stars) but you could tell nurses overworked, not enough nurses to ratio of patients it seemed, expect to wait more than an hour after pressing the call button.

About a month ago I rushed into emergency at Northern Beaches Hospital with severe urinary retention pain. The staff admitted me straight away (thank you to the kind angel who gave me her number to go in front of her). From the moment I was there, all the doctors and nurses were just incredible. They were caring, thorough and empathetic with me having to be away from my baby for the first time. A special thank you to Dr Evie, Nurses Isaac and Alice in the short stay ward and the Obs & Gynae team who all went above and beyond. We are so lucky to have such wonderful humans caring for our community.

Had a day surgery and was looked after from the moment I walked in. The facilities are new and everything is private so you have your own room prior to entering theatre which gives you space to mentally prepare for your surgery without other people around. Staff were so friendly and so accomodating, down to getting me hot blankets when I looked a little cold. When I returned from surgery I was brought a steaming hot latte which was delicious, way more than I was expecting from a coffee in hospital. My surgeons also made the experience significantly better than previous surgeries by being really friendly and thorough. Never thought I’d do a 5/5 google review after having surgery but I was very impressed.

I’ve only had to visit a few times, and for vastly different concerns. Every administrator, nurse, radiographer, and Doctor were not only friendly, welcoming and proficient, but they clearly explained processes and were as gentle as possible with me when it was necessary to make physical contact with painful areas. All of the above ultimately made me feel supported during times when I felt particularly anxious about the state of my health. The young doctors I’ve dealt with here were far more capable than some I’ve met in medical practices with decades of experience. And while there are long wait times, it’s clear just by observing the staff that they really try to hustle and make it a seamless and stress free experience for patients, without compromising the level of care. I’ve even seen nurses bringing cups of water and tea to help with hunger pangs in elderly patients that weren’t able to eat anything. Exceptional service all around.

I cannot thank you enough all the nurses, Paediatricians and midwives who helped me during my pregnancy and labour! I was very impressed with all the care and professional advices I have received during that time! The hospital is amazingly supportive, clean with high standards of hygiene, very friendly team and excellent service even at the emergency section! I would highly recommend this hospital to my friends and families. Thank you thank you and again thank you Northern Beaches Hospital 🙏🏼

I got admitted on a private maternity ward but doesnt like I was treated well. I waited for 8hours in ED until I got transferred to the ward. No one even bother to offer me food in ED. I didnt had any dinner ordered on arrival to ward. The Doctor named Jessica Brown was not even emphathetic on answering my questions or explaining things to me. Just so upset.

Unfortunately I've had to spend quite a few times in hospital this year. But what can I say about the staff. The Doctors, The Nurses, The Receptionists, The Wardens, The Surgeons, The Volunteers, etc. ( And all the others, Sorry I know there are many others! ) Have been the most Professional, Hard working, Caring staff I have ever found. A Credit to your selves and to the hospital. Just want to say a massive Thankyou. Colin x

The ER nurses and doctors were nice to me and took care of me very well. But I noticed they didn't with some elderly patients. I think they need more training regarding geriatic understanding. They also forgot to give me lunch so I had to find food in the kitchen myself. The kitchen has an industrial coffee machine and fridge full of sandwiches so I can't complain. The hospital is clean as it is new. I haven't walked around but the other patient said, the coffee shop is amasing. In the ward, nurses were efficient and kind. Again, I was not served dinner. I had to call my friend to bring food to me. The food attendant saw me but just ignored me. In other hospitals, they will ask and inform the nurse to call for an order. I informed the nurse but the food came an hour after. My friend who showered and bought me food came first. The issue is the food delivery to new or transferred patients. It happened to other patients too. Sadly, other patients cant remember if they ate or not so a system needs to be put in placed for this. TV is free here. This morning, the nurse, not her fault, was giving me medication which was prescribed to me at the ER. But upon coming up the ward, I was told by my attending physician not to take the meds anymore. So I asked them to please coordinate with the doctor first as I was told something else. I think better instructions to the nurses should be made especially with regard medication. Overall, it is pleasant. View of some rooms are beautiful. There is a CHAPLAINCY. But sadly the Catholic Priest do not offer sacraments esp anointing of the sick. I requested this on Tuesday morning. I'm already discharged Saturday afternoon. No Catholic Priest came. Only a lay person came to visit. Love that coffee machines are available. Nurses and doctors are awesome. Pathology too. Some views of the rooms are specatacular. Giving feedback to help improve service.

After triage in Emergency it went down hill. Doctor didn't aks why we are there. After one hour waiting I asked to be seen, but writing a report seemed more important. No communication, no update, nothing. Left in the morning without seeing the Doc and went to my GP. Next time I'll drive to RNSH. Train your staff to at least talk to your patients. 27/9/ Dear Hospital team, happy to share, but your email does not work. Thx

I don't usually leave reviews, good or bad but I'm frustrated about this. I just rung NB hospital to inquire about a day surgery cost. Spoke to a tired older sounding woman who gave me no time of day and basically hung up on me after giving me an email address to send my inquiry to. Sorry guys but someone who's going for surgery and spends little to no time in hospitals wouldn't mind a little guidance. As I was still half way through a further question, I was hung up on! Not good enough! Raise the bar for others in the future please.

I have previously left bad review before about my experience with having a week long stay, because of constant twitching seizure/stroke symptoms. I was hospitalised last October, and I'm still having to follow up with trying to find answers for what I was suffering with almost an entire year later. The Northern beaches hospital have falsified every medical document I have had to follow up with over a time period of 9 months. The hospital claimed they treated my symptoms with medication and that they got better. The hospital made no action towards correctly diagnosing or treating me, and forced me to prove I was mentally stable. Day 6 of my twitching like seizure was recorded on documents as day 3. What actually happened is I arrived via ambulance at 1am in the morning on the 19th of October and they made no action to even check me until 9am the next morning. I was then told "You're not dying" and accused of faking my symptoms and sent home. 5 hours later I was sent back to the hospital with my symptoms staying consistent and gradually getting worse. My symptoms were worse on my right side and eventually turned into a constant jerking movement. The nurses and doctors kept trying to tell me it was anxiety. I was then left alone for 15 hours in a back room to prevent other patients asking questions, while the same nurse from the day before accused me of faking my symptoms yet again. I was finally checked by a doctor, who then told me that I wasn't dying and she was going to send me home. I requested an EEG scan or an MRI and I was told that neither of those would be happening because and directly quoted "we don't do those here, and why would you want to expose yourself to that radiation and die of cancer". At this point I was getting really upset and frustrated, so they sent in another doctor who suggested it could possibly be a stroke and organised a ct scan. I was given no results from this scan and placed in a room with 6 other paitiens and told to wait. I was there for 8 hours with my symptoms still getting worse and no effort being made to treat me. I was treated badly for the attention my symptoms were getting from the other patients. Over the next 4 days I was placed in a private room and I wouldn't be seen the entire day, and then only told "a doctor will see you soon" and then at 10pm told the doctor went home and they will see me the next day. They made no effort to correctly diagnose or treat me, and then insisted on checking my mental health. I had to prove to a therapist that I was not mentally unstable, and they refused to believe me. On day 5 I discovered on my own that there was a physical issue in my back most likely causing the twitching like seizure, as I realised when I pressed on my back the issues temporarily stopped. The method to stop the twitching caused me the worse pain I've ever felt in my entire life, and when I asked for them to look into this they told me it was nothing. This was ignored by medical staff and they refused to even look at me or find out what was happening to me. They also tried to diagnose me as having an anxiety disorder. I was getting increasingly worried that my symptoms would be permanent, and I was given no answers or reassurance to them finding out anything to help me. I finally had an mri on day 6, and I was shamed by medical staff the entire time. 9 months later I have found out there was a serious issue with the nerves in my back that would have easily been discovered if the hospital had done their jobs correctly. On day 7 the symptoms stopped on their own. I was given no answers for if the symptoms would come back or what caused it. I was also told that if I want any answers I should go to a regular doctor. It's been 9 months and because of their false claims on every document they have made following up with trying to find answers a nightmare. They falsely diagnosed me, they neglected me, and the way they treated me during my stay was disgusting and traumatic. If you have the option of going to a different hospital then please do.

My mother has been a patient of this hospital a few times. I cannot fault the care of the Drs & Nurses. They're all exceptional. One less star due to the waiting time for the patient transport vehicle. Bring back the extra vehicle please. 3.5 hrs waiting time is not acceptable.

This place absolutely sucks. I went here on Thursday October 26th 2023 at around 4pm for having a knife in school and when I came out it was 8pm. most of the time I was just waiting for the doctor (jackie) to come to do a check on me before I go and they also said that it was gonna take half an hour which was absolutely wrong. most of the time I was on a uncomfortable bed with no phone or computer because the idiots called police, doctors and the security were blocking me from getting my phone to entertain also the room I was in had no windows no TV and no table it was just 3 walls a entry way and a bed and one chair I am definitely not going here until this place changes for the better and any other hospital like royal north shore is better than this prison.

My sincere thanks and congratulations to the ED team Sat 21 - Tue 24 Oct for caring for me during my stay following a fall and head knock at home. I could not have asked for better treatment from specialists down to meal service.
