The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is an incredible facility who I've worked with for years in different capacities (including lots of charity fund raising in my earlier times with Parramatta Business Chamber). They're an incredible hospital with leading equipment, technology and staff that TRULY CARE. They are amazing in their care for children and I can't recommend them enough. Also too whilst not directly relevant but worth mentioning; they have great grounds, places to play, sculptures and more. Amazing people and love their work!

Clearly she cannot the difference between what works and what not. When I ask if I can at least get something reasonable to sit on she bluntly says no. I don't know how a sane human being can expect one to sit on this chair for more than 36 hours. Compassion and empathy are probably good lessons for the staff in emergency department. The nurse just too busy with their computers 70% of the time rather than caring for the patients.

This one star belongs to hospital management and NSW medical association. Pretty bad ongoing general operation process. Surely kids hospital deserves a better infrastructure and immediate availability of doctors. In my recent experience I saw staff becoming aggressive when I tried to provide honest feedback to them but I still feel it is not staff’s mistake because the hospital management itself has not provided enough staff to cater for ongoing demand. This hospital need some serious attention as it is becoming worse day by day.

Attended the emergency department twice in two weeks. Wait time of 10+ hours just to see a doctor, and the nurses don’t seem fazed at all. This hospital is under resourced and it has the smallest waiting room. My son and i waited 10 hours with a small room of sick kids and two days later.. he comes down with the flu and severe breathing problems, hence the second visit. Why is there not a separate waiting room for different types of visits. What a waste of our time. I was told 2 hours wait when i arrived at 2pm but ended up staying all night because we just kept getting pushed down the line ‘triaged’. There’s got to be a better system. 2 weeks in a row and nil communications or recommendations to head home because of ridiculous waiting times from staff. It just seems like the norm to keep a sick child waiting all day. Do better NSW Health.

The state government spent billions of dollars on this new hospital that has empty beds and empty isolation suits. The waiting areas are full with kids and parents nearly stacked on top of each other because there’s hand full of doctors to check the kids. This is 3rd world country treatment, waiting time is around 10 hours . Much better to have old hospital but more doctors compared to no doctors in a $3 Billion useless hospital. What is the matter with these health ministers?

They are a Children’s hospital... my three year old daughter had a very high temperature, we took her to Westmead as this had been going on for 3 weeks and we got turned away.. “ it’s nothing, she’s fine” no tests done no checks not a single care for my child... after my daughters third birthday party she ended up having a seizure because her poor little body overheated. I know this is common in kids under 6 but having a high temperature of 40 for nearly a month is definitely not! Once again we were turned away by Westmead Children’s hospital, they told me to keep giving her panadol like that was magically going to fix her. I ended up taking her to Mt Druitt hospital, and I had told them exactly what I had told Westmead! They took my daughter in, they put her in a lovely room and took such good care of her they took me seriously and listened to me, unlike Westmead who pushed me aside.. turns out she had a UTI she was in hospital for a few weeks till she got better. Westmead Children’s hospital What a disgusting way to treat a child!

Not going to name any names but the nurses are so unprofessional. You could be dying of suffocation and the nurses are casually right in front of you having a laugh with coworkers.

Don't waste your time. More than 6+ hour waiting time. Specially children's hospital like this should have more staff. Children where crying every where for treatment but they just don't care. If possible I would give them zero stars.

There were multiple issues with this hospital but the way how they discharge our child and sent us interstate with no compassion, put us in war type situation on our way back home, nobody should go through that. Long story short they make our disabled child who had had his both hips surgery just two weeks ago and was still recovering from pain and on severe discomfort, return home interstate (to Canberra) by our ordinary car with full of medical and other stuff, whereas we had been told by their medical team that he’d be sent home by ambulance or flight considering the travel time and his multiple health issue, later given excuse that all the ambulance were fully booked out for 10 days. And then things got ugly when the orthopaedic team clearly made us feel helpless by not providing referral for social worker's arrangement of a flight to Canberra, reason given to the social worker that it would not help the child. Completely unreasonable, unfair and probably discriminative! It took us above 7.5 hours for 3 hours’ trip (Westmead to Canberra) and had to bear the extreme concern throughout. Our child could barely seat more than half an hour on a comfortable seat (of his special pram), he requires complex trachea care, and his surgery wound yet to be dressed after surgery. We were not confident at all and expressed our concern to the team but unfortunately, they didn’t listen and literally forced us to go by car. On our way we had to do emergency stops several times due to child’s discomfort, hips pain, nappy change etc. We had to go through big stress as it had been a bad weather (since it was a rainy day and there was flood going on in several part of NSW). We needed to lie him down on the food court, open ground in random places and open benches. The worst thing was when a false and untrue statement was given on the discharge letter to our the Canberra physio. The discharge letter says that the child could sit 4-5 hours off the bed. What a lie to make it look fair and what a unfair treatment!! After several phone calls to complaint manager, I was heard over the phone but never heard back from her since. Honestly speaking, I wanted to give a negative 5 star to this Hospital because of their ridiculous treatment to us and lack of common sense but there is no choice. The doctors or surgeons are good and there are handful of good nurses and staff as well, however most of the other medical and nonmedical staff including Admin, Physio, and nurses are extremely unsupportive, discriminative, and rude, can leave you feel upset, and helpless anytime. I never wish any disabled kid and their family to go through such an experience. NSW health has a lot to improve!

Terrible nurses at ED. Daughter’s temp spiked to 42 degrees and we’re at day 5 of panadol and nurofen not being able to bring it down. They state that’s it’s ‘just a number’ and to go home. As a nurse myself, I laughed and asked “Why do we take obs on patients then?” I’ll take my daughter elsewhere with more competent staff. Mind you, she was admitted the last time with the same temp due to the heart rate being extremely elevated. Not a single check was done.

The eating disorder treatment is terrible here. we're treated like pigs and are completely disregarded of when it comes to our mental health, when eating disorders ARE MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS. they think that making us rapidly gain weight will help us, when- it really doesn't. Not doing well at home equals to instant re-admission. Giving us no chance to pick ourselves up and try again. We're stripped away of our human rights and are constantly tortured here by the Eating disorder team. If this isn't a place to make us worse, i don't know what it is. One star for the amazing nursing staff and my fellow inpatients for being there for us. The nurses manage to calm us down and focus more on the mental side of things than the psychologists do.

We went to ER last night, while kids and babies were fighting over thier own symptom. One of triage nurse(blond, short hair)were busy for taking selfies with co-worker, making co-worker's hair style, dancing with her......... ok let me understand it was not busy (around 11pm, 9 children were waiting). What is ER , what is nurse job description???? Where is nurse's simple morality......? ................But the doctor was amazing he gave us simple direction with full of information. Thanks Dr Lycett.

Irresponsible and careless. I took my son here twice. Both time they lost our urine test. And one of the doctor asked me to go back to my own GP. Then what is the point for me waiting in the hospital for 9 hours? My son has serious pain in his tummy. Both nutrofen and panadol are not useful for him. I’ve asked the doctor few times to take further investigation. They refused and couldn’t tell me what’s happening with him.

Care at the hospital has been great. However heavy handed security from the nurses at entry was ridiculous and showed no compassion. We travelled over 700km after my son was air lifted here with my daughter. Only for my 10 year old daughter to be refused entry. No siblings allowed to visit under any circumstances and definitely no exemption if your child’s stay is less than 90 days. This rule isn’t for the main hospital, only the child’s. This rule created additional anxiety for a sister who the last time she saw her brother he was rushed off in an ambulance with lights and sirens. Completely inhumane, and what’s worse. These 1 person policy is no longer applicable at any other hospital or a NSW health directive

I had a great experience at West mead Hospital on last Saturday night . I took my Daughter to the emergency department as her one Ear got infected because of her earrings and earrings back went inside to the skin. She had a big pimple and her ear was really bad our GP told us to take her hospital as she said it can only fix in emergency department otherwise infection can get worst during the weekend.I was scare because my husband didn’t have a good experience in public hospital but it went all really good. As soon as I went up there after 5 to 7 minutes I got my turn the nurse was sitting there she was amazing very kind and well manner then after 10 minutes they call me for further details the gentleman sitting there he was very well polite too. Then after 15 to 20 minutes they call me inside.as soon as I went inside after few minutes doctor came and his name was Martin. He was very kind, experienced and v well mannered person. He talked to my daughter very kindly and explained me everything very clearly. He told us that we have to wait an other 1 hour as they had to give her laughing gas which required 2 hours fasting and we were totally fine then an amazing nurse just came and her Name was Karen. She was just outstanding and honestly she made my daughter feel so good.I thought she was treating her just like I would treat my daughter. Before going to hospital My daughter was scared but after meeting her she was so happy and saying it to me that I am very happy that our GP sent us here.then they took her to the procedure room and I was standing there too.she was sooooo kind and the way she was holding my daughter hand and the way she was encouraging her it was just outstanding.I have never seen my life any women that much kind and professional.Doctor Martin came inside and he did an amazing job as well after taking her earring out he explained me everything very well and told me not to worry which was a big relief for me. Then Karen gave my daughter her favourite Ice-block then after finishing her ice block she got discharged. My daughter was keep saying it to me that mummy I can’t forget Karen she was very nice.I am very happy with their service and honestly in future any case of emergency I would never be scare to go there.so thank you so much for all the beautiful staff there. "I am grateful for your kindness and compassion during my stay here.

We’ve had to take our baby boy to Westmead Children’s Hospital twice in the past month and the care that all the staff provided our baby was exceptional. Triage in emergency both times was quick and I was impressed by the emergency department. At all times, they kept us in the loop about what was happening, the tests they were going to run etc. We stayed in emergency short term care for 1 night for the first visit and 2 nights for the second visit. Again, the paediatrics team were amazing. Clearly communicated to us the tests they were doing, answered all of our questions and showed great compassion to us as first time parents. I also cannot commend the nurses more highly! They too were caring, helpful, knowledge and empathetic.

Emergency service is very slow. Not enough staff and facilities for patients.very long wait to see the doctors. Children’s were receiving treatment at waiting room chairs!!! The hospital doesn’t admit patients rather put them on emergency seating room and provide treatments to save patients food!! I wish I could give a Minus one star. Does this reviews even read by the government!!

Waited for over 4 hours in emergency and we saw a nurse who kept leaving the room to seek the doctors advice instead of the doctor coming to see our son and examine him. We were told to go see a paediatrician (no referral was given either), and to come back if we were concerned, which is why we were there in the first place. I tried to call the hospital 2 days later and the phone rang out. Poor service, would give no stars if I could, extremely disappointed with the emergency department.

I took my son to the emergency on the Monday as he could not walk due to his ankle rolled on the stairs , after long wait and on the basis of an X-ray the emergency doctors send us back saying there is no fracture on his leg , doctor said the pain is from a sprained ankle . We came home after a day or two his pain got worse , took him to the gp , from there to a private radiology centre for an X-ray again , thank god we have professionals in the private sector who could easily pick up the fracture, he is recovering currently with the physiotherapy. Who to blame , where to report , who cares ….let god save those who gets misdiagnosed in these public places 👍

Thank you so much for helping us with our daughter earlier in the week. She was a difficult case as she had a lot of abdominal pain and ended up being admitted. We did wait for over 9 hours to be seen by the Dr but the doctors and nurses were all so helpful and compassionate, and very apologetic about the long wait. I was happy to wait as I was aware my child needed a medical workup and it was still the quickest way to find out what was wrong with quick access to all the pediatric specialists. With the current severe flu season and Covid, the staff are working under difficult, overwhelming conditions and I'm sure they tried to see everyone as quickly as they could. They did prioritise the children who had trouble breathing, and it seems to be a really bad croup season. I'm very grateful for all the efforts of the doctors and nurses, and my child is feeling much better now. Please know that you are all very much appreciated.

ED waiting room is small for such a big hospital and there is not enough room to sit when it gets busy. They are seriously under resourced - especially doctors - hence expect a long long wait time to get attended. We had to wait for 6.5 hours to get attended by a doctor once and anothertime literally had to request the receptionist several times to expedite when my kid cried inconsolably with pain. I sympathise with parents and children coming to ED: it could be an absolute nightmare being there with a sick child. I request the hospital management to look into this matter and make efforts to reduce waiting times. If required, cut down other facilities but increase number of staff.

I am writing this review from the hospital. Came here at 10:35pm now its 2:50 am and we are still waiting to see a doctor. In between this time only one time nurse came in to check my child and said we have to wait. Initially when we came here nurse says it won't be too long, doctor will see your children soon. Absolutely joke this emergency department. You suffer more when your at hospital.

My son was sick, in the evening I took him the w WESTMEAD hospital (emergency department), it took us almost 7 hours to be visited in spite of not too many people in the waiting list,,, I could not realise how they manage the reception. If you do not have emergency issue I would not recommend this hospital,,, The staff were helpful. Not enough free parking around,,,

We waited over 5 hours with my 12 month old baby. Everytime it was her turn to see the doctor, they claimed other kids needed to move ahead because they had emergencies. I sat there and waited over 5 hours watching older kids over 12 and 13 years who were able to sit and wait and eat and talk (no emergency), get ahead of us to see a doctor whilst theyvexpect a 13 month old baby to wait 3+hours longer? We ended up leaving after 6 hours with no help and came back home with a baby that's developed fever. On top of this because we paid them a full doctors fee for nothing!! They seem to be very biased on who they bump up the line and treat faster. I will never use this facility ever again.

I don't want to be a negative person but I'm really disappointed in mri department. We waited for almost a year for a mri and they just said that there's no booking request for my son what?????? And they gave us a new appointment. I arrived half an hour earlier and we wait for almost six hours and my son was fasting he is 3 years old and the fasting time started last night around 3 am .someone came to us and simply apologized for the delay and ask me if i could let them to give my son's appointment to another kid because it's really an emergency so i said ok go ahead and she said i will put his name on list to have mri today but nothing happened. At the end i gave up and left the hospital for another day and another appointment. They apologized for today but does it solve my problem?

If you want to keep being sent home with out a reason, come here. If you want to wait hours even just for a discharge paper, come here. If you want to be wrongly sent home, come here. If you want to be attacked by “nurses” with absolutely no compassion over nothing, come here. The rudest bunch of staff I’ve ever seen, they look at you funny if you ask for something because you’ve run out because you’ve been there for over 24h! They will attack you for filling up your child’s hot water for his formula because they took 2h to respond to the buzzer in the room etc. absolutely disgusted at the level of professionalism coming out of this place. You work with kids! And their worried parents! Don’t add to that situation!

My 2 week old caught a virus and had difficulty breathing and we were sent to Westmead Children’s Emergency followed by the two nights in the short stay unit. Staff in the emergency were very thorough in their observations and explanations so I as a parent had a clear understanding of what was happening. The staff showed excellent bedside manner. I am extremely grateful for the service and the assurance that was given. We were admitted for two nights in The short stay unit and the rooms were spacious and clean. I cannot commend the nurses enough as Every nurses on rotation displayed professionalism, care at its best and compassion towards a frightened parent (me).

I can’t thank the staff at Westmead children’s hospital enough for the care they’ve provided and continue to provide my daughter. The plastics department in particular have allowed my 14 year to feel at ease with her continued physio after surgery. I can only speak highly of each and every staff member at the hospital we’ve dealt with over the last three weeks (and there have been a fair few). Keep up the great work!!! There are many of us that are grateful for all that you do.

My daughter was there for a week and every single member of staff was amazing. We couldn’t ask for better treatment of our child. The staff in the Surgical Ward deserve so much praise as do the staff in Recovery.

Tips: -If you are going to ER bring along something warm to wear or a blanket for your child as the air conditioning gets quite cold. -if you're going to bring your baby to ER make sure you bring a pram, sometimes you'll be waiting for a few hours and your little one would be better off sleeping in the pram comfortably than sprawled out on the benches. -You'll likely be waiting long while in ER so bring a charging cable for your phone or bring a portable phone charger - the mobile phone reception is not very good and you may not be able to send and recieve text messages or make calls easily but there is the hospital wifi available so you can still send messages or calling through wifi messenging apps.

Last Friday (23/07/2021), a day before my daughter’s birthday, she had a bit of a rumbling and relentless stomachache which resulted in her having an appendectomy on her 9th birthday. Yes like most others with similar ailment we had to stay for 2 nights and even though she is only 2 days into her recovery i can see her improvement in all aspects from range and ability of movement, wounds dryness and subsidence of pain and whatnot. The context is that of a children’s hospital where virtually all patients are children who crave attention and think that the world is unfair and somehow conspires against them. To think that nurses and docs, who rub shoulders with such norms, would do anything more that the bare minimum requirements would be such a naivete on our part, especially in such a public state- own hospital. My little girl felt cared for and loved throughout her stay and even though there were things that could have been better but who am i kidding so is life - no complain form my part. The ward experience and the time the surgeon took to explain the procedure and the post procedure care would rival that of any other private hospitals. Just when you thought it couldn’t have been any better we came back from surgery to a room that was lit up with improv decorations (gloves being blown into balloons, cups being used as ornaments). Nurse Alysia and Mona went above and beyond to transform the room with exciment and funkiness. Not to mention that every single medical staffs and surgeons who cross pathed with us said happy bday to my girl with such big smiles that really stretched those covid masks. Once again a massive thank you to you all and our sincere wish for the very bests to you and yours.

First time taking my 16 month old to the emergency department and we had such a great experience! Saw the triage nurse straight away and had a cot & room straight after that. The nurses and doctors were so good with my busy toddler whilst we had to stay for a few hours to be observed and get treatment. Giving her things to play with and interacting with her. I was so worried we would have been waiting hours and hours, I couldn’t believe how quick we were in & out.

If I could give 0 stars I would. 6.5 hours and counting… waiting for my son to be seen. Plenty of doctors hanging about, chatting and on their phones. Minimal nurses / doctors attending to children. It’s been a complete nightmare having my son admitted to Westmead Children’s hospital. The public system is an absolute disgrace.

My 16 month old had to be taken through emergency with a high fever & dehydration. Walked straight in, no wait at all. Was given a bed after seeing the triage nurse right away too. My son had to have a feeding tube inserted to be able to give him fluids and the nurses were so kind doing the procedure, even when it had to be re done due to a faulty tube they were very apologetic and gentle. Was then moved to the short stay emergency ward, single rooms, big, clean and new! Only negative was the pull out bed being horribly uncomfortable and after being admitted for 3 nights my back was destroyed. Son had to have a cannula and it took 5 different nurses 6 tries to finally get one in, everyone was so gentle and kind despite the difficulties & all the nurses were trying to reassure my son even if he didn’t quite understand. Overall we had a great experience, all the nurses we had were amazing. We didn’t feel pressured to leave & felt the care of my son was great. I guess it depends on what time you see the emergency if it will be busy because it was totally empty when we went (Friday morning) also need to remember that the entire hospital system is horribly understaffed so it’s never the nurses fault if your wait is long!

Absolute amazing service given from all medical professionals, my son has stayed in NICU, PICU and Clancy Ward and all went above and beyond. Nephrology unit and Sleep medicine unit are amazing and are always putting in constant care for my son during stays and appointments. If it weren’t for NICU and my sons medical teams my son wouldn’t be here today so thank you Westmead Children’s hospital for all your amazing services. Best hospital

ICU nurses and staff were out of this world. Gave us so much piece of mind knowing our 3 yr old boy was in such good hands. Staff on the Edgar Stephens were also amazing. These nurses don't get the respect or praise they deserve. The abuse they put up with from some parents is just not needed. They are truly amazing. Some parents really need to pull their heads in

Thanks to Children’s Westmead hospital, I had my life saved by the doctors and nurses spending 24 hours in the hospital so that could take care of me. Everyone there had a great bond with children and I loved it so much. Because of them now I am able to be saved. Thank you.

Last night my daughter was really sick. I went the hopistal about 2am and checked with triage nurse. Last night I would consider less busy then usual. The nurse checking my daughter is a older lady and she was gentle and kind. After waiting for a few hrs...Another nurse come around and checking on the people waiting. I think ever since I been to the hopistal.. this is the first time I met such a caring nurse. She go around asking if anyone needing blankets. She also go around covering a sick child and a mother sleeping on the sofa. This is like the kindness thing I had witnessed. I didn't get her name but I just want to say thank you for your kindness and doing more then your duties ❤ I didn't end up meeting a doctor because the wait is really long. This is usually the case. Out of 5 times I visited in the night.. only once I would see the doctor. The 5 stars I gave today is for the lovely young nurse. As for for rhe hopsital I would give just 1 star. I hope the hospital can add more doctors to support the emergency.

I sincerely wish and pray no children should have to go through the pain, health issues and grief in their life, and specially when they are born, however if they still do, this is place where they are looked after so well, staff care for kids and their speedy recovery. We are in this amazing country and having such a great medical fraternity, staff and hospital is a blessing! So very grateful. Recently due to COVID staff shortage issue, yes experienced some delays, miscommunication and error on their part but still won't blame them as i look at bigger picture and this is just very tiny in the realm of things.

Took my son into emergency for being extreamly dehydrated and with gastro, he refusing to drink. It took 4 and a half hours for the nurse in emergency to see us and attempt to give fluids. After she gave a suringe and hydro light she then walked away. Waitied a further 3 hours to be taken in to see the doctor. Once we were taken to our bed we waited a further 3 hours for the doctor to come around and see my son. Absolutely terrible and No communication what so ever. 1 star rating because i couldnt give it any less.

If your kids are unwell, I would highly recommend bringing your kids here. The overnight short stay rooms are actually pretty nice. I would rather drive my kids here instead of taking them to my local hospital in Liverpool. Westmead are so professional and are relatively fast give the fact that the place was packed. They were able to get my son heald up in a span of 2 days.

7.5 hours to see a Dr after waiting in triage, was busy, few hours later told, no ward beds available, for a 340 bed hospital, was told make your own way to another hospital, they did organise the paperwork and tried a few of the preferences after being pushed to do so very quickly. This is even when the IV drip was already started, with very limited mobility. I got the feeling that if you're not local, within the LGA, you get treated differently, even if you're an outpatient for the same hospital.

Great hospital and staff. Not to blame the staff and its not their mistake i understand that, but it's just ridiculous with the waiting time that we have to encounter. My son had a fracture, came to hospital and 10:30pm and doc saw us at 4:00am left home at 4:30am. Just unacceptable.

Fracture and orthopedic center.. The receptionist is unkind. I just handed in the patient card from the emergency. But she misunderstood the name. She checked only the surname. It’s ridiculous! And I had been waited for 1 and half hours. If I had no check, I wouldn’t have done in today. Most of all, she didn’t say ‘sorry’. She said only the excuses and ‘take a seat’ except ‘please’. Horrible. I had organized all my schedules for the time. I don’t recommend.

I had an awful experience through the "Adolescent Medical Unit" at Westmead Children's hospital when i was in my early teens. I feel as though I wasn't able to protect and speak up for myself at the time so drs/staff got away with treating me badly. Please take your child somewhere else. Not here.

A place you wish you never have to visit, but if you so than know you will be cared for in the most amazing day. The PICU nurses are absolutely beautiful people, who truly care and try to make you feel at ease. Our story did not end well but this is at no fault of the hospital. Thank you for everything you did for my beautiful nephew Zane

Would have gave 5 stars but the service at the pharmacy within the hospital is a joke. Waiting 2 hours for them to go to a room and get 3 boxes of medicine off a shelve for my 14 month old is ridiculous. Other than that the hospital and staff is great and go out off their way to help the little ones

My baby continued crying more to then 5mins, press help button, no one attended. I carry my baby who cry like hell and manage with all wires to press the urgent button. Nurses came find her cannula was off and bleeding everywhere. However one nurse yell loud don’t press the emergency button. I was shocked. A 16montjs baby bleeding more than 5mins and no one help and that is not an emergency case. Government is just wasting money here and hire lazy staff wants to do nothing but bully the little poor patients.

Overrated, the emergency room dr that we saw seemed more interested in getting us out rather than trying to identify the issue with my child... no bloods taken short quick consultations, have definitely missed something... such a shame being the closest children’s hospital. The wait was longer than the time spent with the specialists and no answers given.

Our 2 year old went into emergency with vomiting and dehydration. We were triaged right away and had such great care from the emergency dr and nurses and also in the short stay ward. Can't praise these amazing men and women in front line care! Just note to wipe down over bed tables yourself before use as many of them didnt look like they had been cleaned or had food spills.

Updated 20 March 2023: One thing I would like to share for waiting room patients is if you see a child with their parent come into the room and straight through one of the triages, there is a likely chance they’re here as a MH patient and were referred. They’ll be waiting in a seclusion room likely just as long as you, to be seen!! Also don’t worry, they are certainly free to come out to get food and drinks in most circumstances. Also, my experiences here, which are only 3-4 visits, were great. Sometimes I would just find the triage nurses being impatient although it can understandable. Please remember hospital emergency departments are not your local medical center, hence why you would be waiting for up to hours to be called in, although it’d be reasonable to come when it’s late at night and Centers are closed, etc. But I’m sorry for those who never end up getting called. Remember, the more acute your condition is, the faster your admission.

My daughter had fractured her arm on Monday, and was referred to West Mead Childrens Hospital, I was told to wait for a call back from hospital, but until Wednesday, no one called. I had to call myself on Thursday, they said they did not receive any information regarding my daughter. So, I had to email the referral letter myself again. And patiently waited until Monday. I had my daughter with fractured arm for a week, not able to see a doctor, so I called again. A receptionist called Nicole, without asking what name the patient is, and the reply was, "We are overloaded, we had 300 emails every day, and many patients are waiting. " Seriously, if this is our public hospital system, why do we have to pay so much Medicare levy. Very unset, I know no one would care about the bad review of the Public hospital. But what else I can do!

Excellent treatment by staff and good signage once inside the building. BUT one glaring omission outside. Not a single sign anywhere telling you where to go for the COVID19. I had to ask an off-duty nurse in the street where to go to get tested.

Really hard to rate good for the attitude. As a migrant, my English is not my first mother language. Yesterday, my daughter was delivered from Fairfield hospital due to her serious fall. I waited there for more than one hours for nothing and there is a few surgeon just stay there and laughed, chatted about why my daughter and I stayed there even my daughter doesn't have any problem in their opinion .

Hope less hospital shame on this government my little two year old was suffering from pain and they kept us waiting 3 hours and still were told there are 6 people before us when we went to waiting area all people waiting left and new people came they still before us we had to leave 5 month old with someone they didn’t even care they were not calling one person in one hour and nurse was telling me that this is the best hospital in Australia

Absolutely amazing hospital, the staff are all very professional and kind and always keep you informed of what is going on. I spent a night here with my daughter and wife and they made sure we both had somewhere to sleep. Compared to The Canberra Hospital Westmead is outstanding.

I loved my experience here, the doctors and nurses were kind and comforting and kept checking up on my family and I. The staff there were so nice and always made sure I was feeling safe and comfortable with what they were going to do. As soon as I entered the emergency lane , they escorted me to a bed and asked me some questions.

The nurses and doctors we’re great with my experience. There’s always a wait that is to be expected. However, the one parent policy due to covid is difficult as the one parent will find it hard to settle unwell child.

  • 1/5 ThatBroMan 1 year ago on Google
If your child is sick, don't take them here, go some where else, you have a better chance of being seen on time instead of waiting 10 hours for simple test results to come back to give you the all clear, oh and the Doctors will ignore you until you make a complaint to a Nurse to see what the reason is. Nurses are fine, everyone else bloody useless

Horrible experience. It is my first time here and I was really let down. After waiting in emergency for hrs we finally got taken in to only have a dismissive dr tell me my daughters throat is sore. They did not bring an ent. It was basically lets give you a Band-Aid and send you home we don’t want to deal with it. She got no food other than a sandwich that expired the day before. I don’t recommend this hospital to anyone the system let her down. The dr was absolutely rude and disgusting.

Absolutely horrific experience here this evening when a nurse carelessly administered a syringe of medication to my sleepy and feverish 18 month old while she was crying and she subsequently choked on it. Her eyes rolled back and she started convulsing, it happened so quickly but the nurse had been so keen to move on to the next person that she wasn't even there when my daughter was choking the second after she gave her the meds. I had to run across the room shouting "Somebody help me! " while hitting my daughter on the back. Another nurse came to my daughter's aid while the original nurse just stood there saying, "She's fine." It was one of the scariest experiences of my life. I know nurses are busy and under pressure right now but I'm completely in utter shock.... at this nurse's complete lack of regard for my daughter's welfare.
