😠 Waited for more than 5 hours in the ER before seeing a doctor. The nurse at the reception was rude. Worst experience ever. Many hospitals in the US and China have developed apps to better communicate with patients while Aussie really appears as an under-developed coutry. People often mention nurse, hospital, wait, hours, emergency, waiting, doctor, staff, long, care,

they call it emergency but waiting time is ridiculous. family member fell down and was feeling lot of pain. had to wait about 1.5hour to see the first nurse. then was asked to wait to do the xray-another hour waited. then did xray and was asked to wait again to see the nurse. waited for another 2 hours... im still waiting while writing this review! dont know how long will it take more but imalready at the hospital more than 4.5 hours... -staff also rude and not empathetic! they told me to make payment and i asked them if we need to pay before seeing the doctor and she didnt replied. i paid anyway.. later on i went to another nurse or administrator who told me there were a dozen patients before me so i need to wait anyway when I asked how long it would take, she just replied however long it can take- even if i had to wait until tomorrow- she also said anyway you already paid so you cant leave now... - they could at least informed us whether if we are fine to wait that long before asking us money and then telling us we have to wait however long it might be

After an 18 day stay, including 9 in Cardiac ICU, am being discharged this morning. Post triple bypass, lung collapse, heart zapped and few other treatments I cannot wait to get home. A big thank you to my Surgeon Gary Fermanis on his skills and job well done. The hospital staff in all sectors especially 5 South have been simply amazing. They showed patience, were very attentive, demonstrated empathy and kindness and I cannot praise them highly enough... Much love, respect and a heartfelt thank you to one and all. Vic Chere

From all the prenatal appointments to giving birth to my daughter, every nurse, midwife, anesthesist, dr was so caring patient, compassionate, warm. I felt like I was the only one there as they were so supportive. I was so nervous having my first child and each staff member I came into contact with made me feel so important and looked after. I really thought that public hospitals were a dive, but the whole department/s were so caring - I actually miss all the nurses midwives and receptionists etc. I didn't want to go home early when i was given the option. I felt like they really cared! Even when I asked silly questions, etc, they heard me and aswered it with kindness and respect. Hats off to all these departments. I want to do it all again!! :)

So I went into hospital yesterday, got taken through pretty quickly & got to see the doctor. Once I got admitted into hospital I was put to a bed in the ward. I was told I had to have anti biotics at 2pm and basically 2:45pm came, and no nurse had given me my anti biotics tablets so i called them over & the nurse said they had run out of the anti biotic & have to go to the chemist to get more... i found this really pathetic. i wasn’t even given any meals or food, i hadn’t eaten since the night before at about 8pm. I think the ward was really short staffed as there was only 1 nurse and 1 senior nurse on duty, managing multiple rooms. The nurse never came around to check my vital signs, as i was on strong pain medication & i assume vital signs must be checked regularly. the 1 nurse who was there looked really flustered and stressed out, probably due to short staff. i find this really disgusting, people’s lives are at stake here. the nsw health department is absolutely pathetic! they increase our taxes and force us to pay private health and they don’t provide better care in hospitals & medical centres. the doctor who was meant to see me came 2 hours late as well, to tell me that they would send me home. so i could of been home 2 hours earlier. best to avoid this hospital if you can.

Went to hospital with food poisoning. Reception was fine. Then we waited for 2 hrs to hear giggle of a nurse that we came after vomiting 4 times, which did not allow me to drink water. They gave anti nauseous pill and said that they will give hydrolyte in 15 minutes. I started having pain from their pill. Instead of 15 minutes it took them half an hour, given that there were no patients in the waiting hall that was dodgy. Then nurse called me in and was extremely rude (her name is Angela, blonde nurse and there are no Angela's during night shift), I told her that I have pain from the pill they gave, I already vomited Hydrolyte before. Instead of suggesting what they can do she asked me "what I want her to do". Based on my background I suggested antibiotic, and thats when she got very offensive that I have no symptoms whatsoever to get antibiotic. So I suggested that she might offer equivalent of hydrolyte as injection. I agreed and she disappeared for ages coming with maxolon injection and no liquids. Tried to insert needle twice went through vein heavily (it clicked and hurted badly). She went for 3rd attempt with no apology. I left after that and she did not even offer bandage. Before that she called 2 patients that were already gone, which indicates that waiting time is unreasonable. It seemed to me that this nurse had absolutely no clue about her job!

I visited St George Hospital today with my child. I was very hesitant to visit with all the negative reviews. My son was called by a nurse within 5 minutes of sitting down the nurses were helpful. Got a xray for my son and saw the doctor and left just over 1 hour from arriving.

Like ever other public hospital, they are flat out trying to help everyone flooding through their doors. Decor may be tired but the facilities are undergoing significant write (august 2017).

Friggin slow emergency department. My wife is 15 weeks pregnent and today she was bleeding so we came to the hospital. They took her blood in 15 mins and told her there are 4 docs and 4 patients in waiting so it shouldn't be long. She gave my wife a container to urine check. After that she was holding that urine for 2.5 hours and still nobody came see her or to take that urine container. Its been 3 hours and we are still waiting to be checked properly... On the doors of emergency department it says "fast track 1.. 2.. 3.." and that's a ridiculous joke.. emergency department is horribly slow..

I give five stars ONLY for the delivery suite, special care nursery & children's ward- and all the drs and nurses who work in an extension to the named places. All the pediatricians and nurses there are so knowledgeable, compassionate and caring. They took great care of my precious babies and had so much patience with me and gave support at a vulnerable time.

Just had our 5 year old son with a broken arm at the kids ward. Such incredible and friendly staff, so patient with the kids. And so caring. Cant speak highly enough about the level of care given to us especially during such a stressful time. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at 1 East ward for looking after our munchkin!

Went to the Kids ER at 10am . There were only 5 of us present and they keep us waiting for 5+ hours each. Terrible communication between shifts. Staff flat out avoided calling names un till we had to each build up the courage to knock on the reception windows to complain of waiting too long to finally get called

5 stars for Ward 1, in particular nurse Helen, and the anthesthetic team who were extremely caring and made me at ease for my first ever surgery yesterday. Nurse Helen was compassionate, informative and supportive at one of the worst times in my life. She is worth her weight in gold and deserves a pay raise! Thank you Nurse Helen, Ward 1 and surgery team. Xx

Great ICU and I was well looked after for the first week then they move you to a ward where you have different nurses everyday who do not know your needs , meds are forgotten and when you buzz to remind them they don’t believe you, no security and patients who are not meant to leave can easily just walk out without anyone caring or noticing

Sister took her daughter for a covid test...after 4 days without results she was finally told her test had been lost and now has to go through all of it again. Not the level of competence you want to see when dealing with a health crisis. Very unprofessional.

Hopeless to come here in the emergency ....my wife was fell down on the floor and fainted I took her to emergency and they cant even sit nor open her eyes .still they gave a bottle for urine test and told us to stay that there is 4 patient before us ..and funny thing is that a counter lady ask us to show identity after we showed her our Medicare card.. a big racism ..middle finger for that lady .. sitting on the counter .... We are hopeless with Doctor services its been a year we are encounter with her this stomach pain problem .thwy just give us a buscopan and petntroprazol . Now we are heading to overseas that we can do our medication..I suggest not to go st George specially. I heard this is not a hospital for us I found its true ..
