She used to be proud Winged Victory, Nike. Now, even though she's still a lovely sculpture, she's more winged sympathy than anything victorious.

Beautiful statue which replaced the 1919 original in 2015. The new statue is similar to the original (and in my opinion more graceful), but now has her sword lowered in merciful victory rather than above her head in triumph - which, apart from its symbolism, had also made the old statue rather too much like a lightning rod!

On my walk from Illawarra Road in Marrickville to New Canterbury Road in Petersham. The "Winged Victory" monument commemorates the 458 local soldiers who died in service or were killed in action in World War One.

Didn't expect to see a statue here. A bit out of place. I'm guessing it's an angel for success and victory. Worth a photo or two and comes out very beautiful.
