Bird enclosure / exhibits are the real standouts of this zoo. Bug exhibit needs significant work (would love to see a butterfly enclosure similar to Melbourne's). Seal show is good. Recommend looking at the exhibit times on the map (which you can opt to collect from a stand just inside the entry) as these are impressive. Also recommend booking online so you can ride the skyline up to the zoo's entrance (if you take the ferry). For those wondering the views of the city from this zoo are excellent and the lines for tickets move quickly!

Incredible spot overlooking the harbour. Booked in advance, scanned QR code on entry. Very easy and waiting time was not too long. Easily navigable zoo, with plenty of interesting enclosures. Lots of kids (as you would expect) but plenty of ways to avoid the crowds when you can. Not too hilly or difficult to get around. Food options very limited, but easy to go through the park in 2-3 hours, and hop on the ferry back to Circular Quay for other food options.

One of the best zoo’s I’ve visited over the years! The timing of our trip was perfect! When a koala bear sleeps 20 hours a day, how lucky can you get when you can see the Koala climbing the tree. I’m additional, all of the animals were lively and actively moving around in their environment. The animal exhibits were very close, making it easier to see the animals. If you make the trip, take the bus to the zoo and return back to the city via ferry for the scenic views of the bridge and opera house.

An amazing day spent with my 3 teenage girls around the park. During Covid times, we are encouraged to book tickets online. We used Dine & discover voucher to enter. The parking was a flat rate. Using a car is cheaper when you are a group of more than 4. The park is for all ages.. The seal show was amazing and very informative.. It took us around 4 hours to go all around. It is good to go as early as 10 and take 6 hours not to rush.. I think it is a great zoo with a great team of workers spread all over the place to make the visit memorable. It is important to wear comfortable shoes due to the amount of walking to be done.

A great day out for young and old, singles or groups. So many animals to see and enclosures offer great viewing opportunities. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The views of Sydney are spectacular too. So lucky to have this on offer so close to the heart of Sydney. Highly recommend a day out here!

We went for the view of Sydney and that didn’t disappoint. Ferry trip was lovely, quick and cheap. There was a huge queue for the gondola ride so we got the bus. Which was full and not Covid friendly! I had been to the zoo in the late 80s when a relative of mine worked there. Not much has changed. Except it’s. wry expensive to get it. $51 to be exact. And the prices for coffee and snacks were steep. It did look a bit tired and in need of some dollars spent on upgrades. I live in Adelaide and apart from the view our zoo is faring better. However it was a pleasant day and we got our steps up and the view is beautiful.

No wait if you buy the tickets in advance. Free parking if you try to find one just a couple of meters away on the street. Great location and wonderful experience. They stopped cable car unfortunately last year on Tuesday 31 January 2023 but they are planning to return in next year 2025- which means bit of uphill walk for now. Lots and varieties of Animals. Loved seeing Giraffes and Zebras, Lions, Chimpanzees, Tigers. NRMA members gets discounted tickets purchased online- Two benefits, no wait in the queue and you pay less. Overall you need at-least 3 hours and around 3.5-4 hours if you have babies / kids. If its very hot summer, chances are few animals might take shelter and you may or may not see them at all. so, weather is very important. Best thing is, Taronga Zoo is open 365 days of the year. Family-friendly and kids love it. Pram and wheelchair friendly. at certain places, they also have lifts.

Definitely 5 stars!!! Amazing zoo with huge amount of animals, who looks very happy and healthy, clean fur and playful animals. We saw koalas, giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers , penguins and many more spices. Large area , and on a hill. A lot of walking. Takes a full day to explore and enjoy in full. We got there by ferry as well as returned back to a circle quay in 10 min each way. That was very convenient, as well as we were able to see Harbor , Bridge and architectural side of Sydney from a water side. Highly recommend to visit, especially if you are visiting with kids!!!

I loved this zoo. It is so well set out. The animals appear to be happy and content and in good condition. It's set on a hill but has lifts and escalators to help those of us who are aging or not so fit ! Good toilets and food outlets and a lovely well stocked reasonably priced shop. Easy to get to by the local ferries.

A fantastic zoo. We stayed 6 hours here and feel we saw pretty much everything including the excellent bird and seal shows and a stop for lunch. The zoo offers amazing views of Sydney Harbour as a bonus. Parking is on site and plentiful. The animal enclosures are large, modern and in good condition. A must visit for those in Sydney for a few days.

We had an amazing experience at this zoo in Sydney, which we consider the best ever. The variety of animals is impressive. The koala area is a must-see, and the well-designed layout offers different sections for animal viewing, along with beautiful skyline views of the city. It's highly recommended, especially for families with kids. We spent six hours exploring everything, including fantastic bird and seal shows, and the zoo also provides stunning views of Sydney Harbour. On-site parking is plentiful, and the spacious, modern animal enclosures are in excellent condition. A must-visit for anyone in Sydney for a few days.

Great day at the zoo without being at home. Lots to see and extremely interesting live shows. Recommend downloading the app to plan what time the shots are on. We took the bus from the city as it stops at the main entrance at the highest point of the zoo and made our way slowly downhill to the ferry. Saved our energy for the walk around the zoo. Highly recommend.

First experience should be good but not repeating trip. Expected some hilly walk and waiting time especially for the birds and seals show. Food and drinks isn't cheap so best to bring yours. Cable car provide great view.

For sure one of the best zoos around. I would recommend a ferry ride from Circular Quay to get to the zoo. There are fantastic views of the harbour, Opera House and Harbour Bridge on the way. A cable car takes you to the entrance of the zoo. The alternative is a shuttle bus from the ferry wharf. 3 to 4 hours is sufficient to cover the entire grounds, including a snack or quick meal break. Families with younger kids should probably spare a bit more time.

The best zoo in Sydney. A must visit location for the kids and family alike. Not only do you get to see varieties of animals and birds, the kids have the options to play in the wild rope area. One of the excellent weekend getaway spots for sure

Well-designed and lovely zoo. The Wildlife Retreat is where we stayed, so getting to the zoo was simple. Amazing displays. Big zoo, but not overpowering like some can be. Cashless. Numerous displays of Australian animals may be located all across the zoo. They have amazing viewing spots that let you get close-up and personal. From Circular Quay, using the ferry and bus is simple.

While many of the exhibits are closed due to remodeling and repairs, my family was not disappointed in the activities we were able to do. The Mane Cafe is still open and serving what I thought was a good lunch, and refilled our tanks. No indoor seating is available, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Watching the kids interact with the California Sea Lions, Orangutans, and hearing the lion bellow was certainly the highlight of the trip. I would recommend the Zoo still. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring water to drink, and plan on taking your time. There are only a certain amount of entry passes given each day, so make sure you plan ahead accordingly. There are plenty of hand sanitizing stations throughout the park.

Pretty Zoo with views of Sydney harbour. Quick ferry ride is the best way to get there. Food awful and overpriced. We really enjoyed some parts of the the zoo and other parts not so much. I think the zoo needs to worry less about the view and create more privacy for the enclosure and better design for viewing. Tips, get there early, bring your own food and drink, have a plan to go to the keepers talks as they normally feed the animals and you will at least see them, very hilly so wear comfortable shoes.

Huge and fun place for kids and kids at heart. love that there are many animals to see and a lot of resting areas too. The structure of the zoo where you have to go up and downhill made it a little bit more challenging for older people to go around but still fun though. it a very nice view of the harbour bridge and the ferry ride made it even more exciting for guests from other states and overseas too.

A lovely zoo, with lots to see and mostly great animal enclosures (large, and full of appropriate habitat for the animals). As a couple, it took us 6 hours to see almost everything (missed out the kids trail). Both the Free Flight and the Seals shows were well put together and worth watching. Most of the animals were visible, which given it was a hot day was unexpected. On a Sunday it was busy but not horribly so.

Your average zoo. Unfortunately when we visited a lot of enclosures were either closed off due to Covid, under refurbishment or animals had just moved enclosures so felt like we only saw half the park

The zoo was perfect, but during this covid time, it has very few visitors, 1/4 the animals were gone (giraffes, elephants, tigers AND ALL THE SEA CREATURES, fishes, seals, penguins were all gone). Everything else is perfect, but the atmosphere was quite lonely, there weren't much to see. I hope after the pandemic things will get better.

We love Zoos and Bristol Zoo is an old favourite. The best part was by far the reptiles. It’s a small Zoo compared to Chester and others we have visited. It still has it’s charms. The grounds are kept tidy, and there is a lot of information and helpful staff. My children love big cats and were so pleased to see a Lion up close, but also sad as the enclosure didn’t look that big. I am sure it was more significant behind the promenade. The variety of animals that they care for is pretty good, and there is plenty to see. Still worth a visit if you are tagging it onto something else in Bristol. There was a food area, the food was very good, and the kids were happy, that is a miracle. The meerkats were extraordinarily entertaining, and it was pleasant to learn all about them there. A lovely day out.

This is a zoo with various animals to watch. You can stand on one side of the glass and the Tigers walk to the other side. Only a glass is between you and the Tigers. Even the Lions have a vast area to walk around. Right atmosphere has been created for the animals. Watch the monkeys climbing on ropes, elephant wandering, Zebras and Giraffes and beautiful water and Sydney city views. Take your kids over there, they will love it.

ZOO DAY FUN DAY! My third times been to Taronga Zoo and every time I have amazing experience and memory- thanks to Taronga Zoo. It wasn’t super crowded this time because of pandemic so I got a chance to explore this place peacefully and enjoy it at my own pace. Two things I’d suggest that are to carry a map with you since the zoo’s large and make sure you check their daily activity if you wanna see catch up animal shows. The zoo is well maintained as always and animals are well taken care of. Definitely worth to visit.

Amazing views of Sydney Harbour and a wide selection of native and international animals. Beautifully set on the side of a lush hill making many parts of the zoo feel private. Bring your walking shoes! The food isn't great however. Recommend bringing a picnic. And save some money for the great native stuffed animals in the gift shop!

Visited last August 2019 The zoo is well maintained and animals are well taken care of! Great view of Sydney! You'll need to ride a ferry to get here and travel time is less than an hour. They offer different packages which is I think have reasonable prices. I like the Sky Safari entry through cable car! Toilets are clean but the pantry gets a bit crowded during lunch time which is normal for every place that is.

Taronga Zoo is beautiful and you can really make a day of it. The highlights are the seal show at 11am and the bird free flight at 12pm. Not only are they amazing but they’re also super educational and empower the audience with simple actions for what they can do at home to help protect the species. I arrived 30 minutes before each show because there’s always a huge queue and limited shade if it’s a sunny day.

Taronga Zoo Sydney is the best zoo I have every visited. Unique location with a stunning view of the harbour and city. Plenty to see and do - we visit once or twice a year and there is always something new to discover. Highly recommended!

Me and my Family visited Taronga zoo during the summer school holidays. It's definitely a must see place for kids. The bird flight show and the seal show were very entertaining. It will be easy to follow the green circles to have an efficient walk down the hill. If you arrive at the opening time, it's easy to see the shows and the talks. Some parts that were disappointing were the lions and penguins. Tye food closed at 3. So that needs to be planned if you decide to take off track. The sky safari is a saver to bring us back to the top after finishing the tour. the gift shop were open till the close. The one in the top entrance had more options that the one in l near the elephants.

The over all experience was great. Beautiful ferry ride across the bay, amazing bird show and plenty to see. Put your walking shoes on because it's on a cliff. Lots of steep paths and steps. Great for exercise. Some of the larger animals have quite small enclosures Was the only downside.

Amazing views? Check. Beautiful scenery? Check. Heaps of animals? Not really. Look this is an amazing zoo and worth a visit once in a lifetime, maybe twice. But for the ticket price you’re not going to get to see as many animals as you can at the Australian Reptile Farm. You’re going for the city views and beautiful layout. Just be ready to walk!

My second time to Taronga zoo, first time in 10 years. It was an absolutely amazing experience! My friends and I bought the Harbour View Cinema tickets for only $25 which included zoo entry from 2pm-5pm. We visited a variety of daily keeper talks and almost all the enclosures. They also have a new reptiles and amphibians house opening later this year! The food was, expensive and not worth the price, but all proceeds go towards helping Taronga's conservation efforts so that's a plus. The movie night was well planned and they had keepers coordinating public transport after the movie which was really nice. Everywhere was really clean and well kept with signs to help. If you have any struggles with mobility, the zoo will be difficult to navigate with all its tricky terrain. I caught the ferry over and the fact Taronga is a sanctuary situated in the corner of one of the world's busiest cities. I highly recommend you come here for a full day trip 😁

If u are planning for a zoo, I encourage u to plan the entire day if u really want to get your money's worth. There are so many amazing things in the zoo, and if u don't come early, u will miss it. A couple of few famous animal encounters like seal etc has a line on a busy day, so u need to time see all of them. It's a lot of walk so be prepared accordingly with comfortable shoes and water. U really should come at your earliest to enjoy the full zoo.

A lovely zoo with amazing Sydney city & harbour views. Can be accessed by bus, car & ferry & we went ferry both ways (short trip from Circular Quay). Buses available from ferry up hill to main entry. There is also an entry at bottom near ferry. Lots of animals including Australian- opportunity for koala photos & walking amongst kangaroos & emus. Sadly chairlift not working, with other issues with up escalators & also 1 lift. Meant additional walking. Food is very average in food court - $40 for a couple of chicken meals & an ice-cream. Could buy drinks incl alcohol. Various ticket options - cheaper to buy online. Cashless zoo now. Always worth a visit.

A great zoo with views outlooking Sydney Harbour. Some new interesting set up - for example the tiger trial which is Indonesian inspired. The food market didn’t offer the best selection of food (hot chips, chicken tender - canteen type food) and price wise was a little steep for what was on offer. Would have been better if they offered more food options. I really enjoyed reading about the elephant temple and the history of elephants at the zoo. Overall, a great day out - heaps of parents with kids and babies.

Good place to get experience for our little one. You can enjoy with the show. In this restriction you must make a line 30 mnts before show, so you will have chance to go in. For whoever have kids but forget to bring pram, don't worry, you can hire one pram inside 🥰, make sure you take map to make you easy where you want to go. Just becareful with your food bag, because some turkey so very naughty, they like to take people food 😂. But, it's nice for your kids experience.

A lovely little zoo. Good prices for entry and the little restaurant, which is take away only at the moment, is fairly well priced to. The animals are all in lovely condition as are all the enclosures. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are toilets dotted all around the area which is very handy. We had a wonderful time and is was a real pleasure to see the 2 week old baby gorilla up close. A lovely place to visit.

We went here for a little day out driving from South Wales. Easy to get to and the parking was made easy (it's £4 but you can use card) thanks to the wardens. It was a quiet day when we went so walking around was a breeze. All the animals seem well looked after and most enclosures had some keepers nearby explaining and talking about the creatures inside. The park itself is very nice and well kept, and the gardens and plants are really great. There's plenty of areas to walk about and play with children too. There is also a little restaurant that serves nice food. The pasta I had was good. Two of the standout enclosures were the penguins/seals and the butterflies. The seals were shooting about under and above the water, and you were able to go underground to see them like I've never seen them before. The butterfly enclosure was very pretty and they were flying around everywhere, allowing you to get extremely close to them. Overall a good day out and well worth it, especially if you book online cheap!

Beautiful walkways but, if you're looking for animals, there were like 7 on display. We saw wild squirrels and wild deer in the parking lot. That was the most animals we saw all day. Lots of pathways closed. Lots of animal exhibits closed. The zoo is free but, they charge $30 to park.

Overall a great zoo that is free and open to the public. A decent amount of exhibits and animals aren't available during covid times and the layout of how they want to direct traffic is frustrating at times. A great place to visit and see some cool things for sure. Hopefully they fill exhibits and fix the routing issues.

Beautiful zoo here in DC. it's totally free all you have to do is go online and pay for parking. Lots of shade and many different animals to check out. Just make sure you bring your walking shoes and heres a small suggestion. Freeze some bottles of water to take with you inside the park. The bottles of water can get a tad bit expensive. But we had a good time here. The kids loved it. Its a must see when looking for a family activity to kill a few hours

I love this zoo! Even the ferry trip there is so nice. Not sure if morning is the best time to visit, but when we went there early, it seemed all the animals were active and wide awake. Although I couldn't see the lion and cassowary, I'm happy to rate 5 stars for this fantastic zoo. Wish to have a chance to watch the seal shows! Recommend to buy the ticket in advance, take the sky safari and walk down. Better if you take a paper map and plan the walk cus personally, it's a bit easy to get off the main track. Me and my friends didn't stop for lunch, just chill walked. Totally took around 3.30hrs.

Great place for anyone who loves animals. Taronga zoo is quite big so there is a lot of walking, thus not suitable for people who can't walk long distance. Seal show and bird show are very enjoyable. Please don't forget to wear a hat, put sunscreen on and bring a bottle of water. You can refill drinking water at the zoo.

Very beautiful zoo with the harbour view and on a slope kind of set up. wherever you go you can catch a glimpse of the harbour. They now have a lion family, mum, dad and 5 cubs, but to see mum and the 5 cubs you have to be there at around 1000 and wait patiently. I have to go 3 times before I could have a close view of the cutest cubs. It’s totally worth it. They also have 7 adult tigers. My fav is the tiger mum and her 3 adults kids. They are always putting on a show of affection towards each other and very active every time I go to see them. Animals seem well looked after there. Love the zoo. Keep up the good work.

Its an amazing place to take kids. The zoo is huge so wear something comfy. The parking is limited so earlier the better. When it comes to variety of animals than you will be disappointed as not many big cats you can find there. There are not many big animals except giraffe and elephants and hippo. The seal show has a queue longer than the first day of IPhone launch.

First time experience at zoo and it was really a good experience. Best way to go there is by ferry from circular Quay to get a spectacular view of the city, marvellous harbour bridge and epic Opera house. The zoo is really big with variety of animals which are kept in well condition. Recommended to get map at the reception to guide you around. The seal show and bird show were amazing and made the tiredsome walk refreshing. Loved to see how the animals and human communicated and interacted sending a positive message to the world. The food here is expensive. Great place to visit with kids of course. Recommended to check weather before coming. Too hot and rainy day would kill the vibes.

Still one of the best zoo's around. Have been to Taronga at least a half a dozen times, always improving each time I return. The whole family loves it.

Amazing experience! Bought our tickets in advance and rode the Ferry over from Circular Quay. The exhibits and wildlife are unique and organized in a way that makes them seem like you are in the forest. Definitely download the app in advance, it has all of the days events that you can organize and an interactive GPS enabled map. If you buy your tickets in advance, from the Wharf you can ride the gondola up to the entrance. If not, you have to ride the bus up to the front entrance. Enjoy!

Brilliant zoo. So much to see. Lions still in lockdown though 😁 A great variety of Australian and international fauna. Good facilities. Easy accessibility for disabled people. A really wonderful day out, though it would take a lot more than one day to see it all.

Photo opportunities around every corner. So much for the kids to interact with and learn. Great space for everyone to get great pictures. Easy walking for all accessibility options although it is on a hill. Well maintained and clean. Keep an eye on your food as the bin chicken (ibis) are very quick to steal any food they can

Visited in the rain, so some of the animals used to warmer environments seemed quite unhappy. The seal show was very impressive, and the animals seem to have very good care taken of them in this zoo. The experience was well priced, including travelling to the zoo from the city via ferry.

Taronga Zoo was not the best zoo I’ve been to but not the worse either. The seal show was great for the kids albeit the long queue to get in and the view of Sydney harbour from the hills is magnificent. And if you want to go, definitely take the ferry over because the ride gives great views of Sydney. However, the zoo itself was really hard to navigate with a pram because everywhere had steps and we had to go a really long way around to get to the animals. My daughter complained that for the 4 hours we spent there, we hardly saw any animals except for the birds chasing people for food. Also, a lot of the enclosures looked a bit sad and small.

Taronga Zoo's spectacular location alone makes it worth the visit. But beyond that, it is well laid out and the animal enclosures are open and not cage-like. If you like zoos, you will love Taronga. It is hilly though, so it's a reasonably physical day to walk around it.

Taronga Zoo Sydney, commonly referred to as Taronga Zoo, is one of Australia's most famous and iconic zoological parks. A great space designed for kids and adults both to see animals. The slopes are quite steep so recommend to reach the top and walk down the slope. It's little tricky for older people who have limited walking ease. The bird and seal shows are really great and love the way they are delivered. It does have 2 ways to see the zoo and one should decide which path to follow.

A great day at the zoo: huge diversity of animals, clean and ethical enclosures, informative shows and keeper talks, and gorgeous views of the harbour and city. However, a word of warning, while it is technically accessible, the hills/stairs can get pretty steep. Discount when buying tickets online, and you can just head to the gate with the QR code.

More than a simple zoo. Elegant, well designed with color identification of the trails to follow. Varied fauna and flora integrated into very beautiful settings. It even has an area with marine animals typical of the area. Many activities for the little ones and numerous support services. Easy to access from central Sydney by bus or ferry. Highly recommended. One morning or one afternoon are needed, at least, for sure.

Perfect for a full day outing. You can definitely go through the zoo within an hour but I would seperate a whole day for a nice and relaxed visit. So many attractions. Both Australian and others. Lots of water refill stations throughout. Completely child friendly with pram access and great changing rooms. Everything was great.

Amazing Zoo and fantastic staff! We did the Koala and Dingo Encounters, and I can't recommend enough! Throughout the park, you get up close to so many animals, several walking in your path or even hanging out right above you. And the views of the Harbor aren't too bad either.

Bring your water & hats, wear your sunscreen also especially on summer. Best Time to come in the zoo is early morning when the sun is not scorching hot. However, the zoo is overall cool. I enjoyed my visit. I came to saw the kangaroos & koala but i was happy to see more of the endangered like the tasmanian devil.❤️😎 best to buy tickets online as it will give you 20% discount

Had a great time. Excellent views of most of the animals. Lots of walking though, which wouldn't be a problem except the whole zoo is built onto a hillside, so it's best to make a plan to see all the animals you want so you don't have to climb up and down too often. Also the day we went was extremely hot (almost 40 degrees celcius) and there wasn't enough shaded viewing areas for a lot of the animal enclosures. Best to assign a whole day if you want to see all the animals (and spend a few minutes to view them), we only had about 4 hours so we only viewed the animals we really wanted. I recommend a keeper tour. We didn't go on one (not enough time) but we were at a few exhibits when the tour came and the keeper was interesting and informative and answered our questions as well. I recommend taking the public ferry from circular quay as they arrive very regularly, and also catching the bus from the ferry terminal to the top gate (it was only $1 per person when we went and saves you from hiking up the zoo from the bottom entrance). The first bus was crowded though, but it seemed like there were regular services.

Would usually be a 4star but they're doing some upgrades and moving stuff around so some things were closed off and enclosures vacant. Just seemed a bit bland but once it's back into top gear it's the goods! Interested to see the new zoo. (Sydney zoo, or western Sydney zoo? Something like that)

Having been a Zoo Friend for close to 5 years there have been times in recent years, with all the construction work, when I did wonder if it was worth the money. Today's trip showed it was. not only a great day out for the children now that we are coming out of COVID-19 lockdown (provided you pre-book), but it was great to see the giraffes back in their rightful place and that the Zoo structure was getting back to normal with some amazing attractions on the way! Great day out.

Great zoo, it's small enough that you can do it in one day, but at the same time I wish it were twice this size so I could enjoy more than 2 types of show. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed it even though it's a little more kid-oriented.

A family friendly zoo with many options and animals to see, however all the animals were super lazy and wouldn't move or do anything most were quite docile. There was also a few animals not in their enclosures or couldn't be seen. The African safari place is cool though, we got to see a few of the animals being fed would recommend visiting there as well as the reptile enclosure. The store is also very well stocked with a vast variety of souvenirs to chose from but not very cheap. Overall a good zoo but relatively expensive for what you get out if it

I saw both the free flight bird show and the seal training show on the 29th December 2020 and they were excellent entertainment, socially distanced and informative. A really great place to go for anyone really, parking available (cost less with the zoo friends annual pass). Pram hire available. Really pleased to hear staff telling students coming for school excursions to keep their distance from the general public. I know there is less cases of Covid now, however, it is still a highly infectious disease and if another wave comes Taronga has systems in place including marked lines for lining up at the food shops etc that would minimise transmission. So many animals, reptiles and more to discover. I recommend going through the bird enclosure, try to spot all the different species that are pictured on the signs. Seal show was great, get the little kids at the front seats to get splashed by one of the rescued seals. Would be a lasting memory for them. My kids got drenched. Perfect on a warm day to. Trying to spot camouflaged reptiles is awesome as well. If you can catch the male Gorilla up close it is quite something. Pictures on the net just won't do. Finally before you leave save some money to spend in the zoo shop. Helps fund their conservation of animals and the good work they do! Enjoy!

A brilliant zoo experience. Well laid out for a great days walk past so many different animals. It was a privilege to learn about so many species from around Australia & the world. The animals looked healthy and had spacious mock habitats, with plenty of enrichment. We caught the seal show which was brilliant. The performances of animals was impressive with informative narration and amusing snappy interplay. We could tell the animals enjoyed it had a great relationship with the handlers. There was a consistent theme of education toward animal welfare and wildlife conservation. Pastries and refreshments available in cafes were of excellent quality. We weren’t able to use the cable car as it was closed due to COVID, but we look forward to experiencing it in the future when it reopens.

This zoo is an awesome day out for all ages providing it’s a dry day, we caught the ferry across from circular quay which took approximately 15 mins & cost $8.00 & you get off directly at the zoo, it’s well spaced over huge amount of land with some of the best views in Sydney. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes.

I had such a great time. The best zoo I've ever been to. It was an amazing experience with my partner and I would definitely recommend to anyone. Great view - feels like a jungle and the walk itself is fun every step of the way.

We loved our trip to the zoo! Our 4 year old was the most excited and our leader for the day! He made sure we saw all the animals! The animals are in great shape, especially the giraffes and tigers were most special for me! Try to carry your own food as there is a long wait to get a snack (other than ice cream😁) But otherwise wonderful facilities and great staff! Also, do experience the cable cars!

Once upon a time, I loved everything Taronga Zoo stood for. Now it's a shining example of skimming the last dollar out of your pocket. Entrance is bad enough at $140 for a family of four, then add $50 for a pathetically small amount of food in the food market. Shame that it will disappear off the list of things the family should visit. Will find another way to support wildlife, that doesn't leave you feeling conned.

  • 1/5 Serzh B. 3 years ago on Google
So disorganised. They used Covid as excuse to clo, the shows. Only run 4 shows a day. This creates crowds. They make you sit and stay on sun for hours. Cafes are full and again disorganized. The manager should be fired immidiately.

Visited the zoo for the first time over New Year's! Great zoo with plenty to see! The giraffes are majestic! They also have a really interesting set-up with the Sumatra Tigers with an Indonesian theme. The Seal show was great as well! Highly recommended!

We're zoo friends and really enjoy the place. Unfortunately staff are not prepared to enforce social distancing for its shows. As such we have had to leave the seal show, and change our seating at bird show because other customers just squeeze in between with staff too polite to enforce safety measures. Not good enough.

Taronga Zoo is located on elevated land in the suburban area of Mosman on the banks of Sydney harbor, in New South Wales, Australia. Australia’s largest zoo, opened on 7th October 1916, is divided into 8 geographic regions and has a zoo shop, a café, and an information center and it is one of the finest places to visit in Sydney.

This was our second visit with the family. And as before we had great time at the Zoo. Seal show was the highlight and would advise to manage time so that you can catch the show. (happens two times in a day, 11 am and 3 pm, if memory serves). Would also recommend to reach early i.e. when the zoo opens so that you have plenty of time to visit all animals and enclosures. Lots of ground to cover. Would 100% recommend

It was nice visiting and seeing the animals, however, the quality of food in the cafeteria is terrible and insanely expensive. Fish and chips for $15, the fish was dry, no flavour, and abit raw, no salads or ketchup as you have to pay extra. In saying that you can't eat inside because they have a limit of 40 people but won't tell you until you stand in line and need to wait for a table to eat. Besides that, the animals were beautiful. I'll put up some pics. Its a great place to take the kids too, just take hats, sun screen, and lots of water as there's alot to see so alot of walking around.

  • 4/5 Mel S. 3 years ago on Google
Definitely a cute zoo... and you can show it’s coming from a small town. I personally wish that some of the exhibits were much larger... it’s frustrating to see some of the exhibits have such a small space compared to others. They really do have the potential to have a really good zoo... We came through during the corona, so we missed out on a few exhibits and any of the other demonstrations but that’s alright we’ll come another time. My only complaint of visiting during this health scare is that the penny press machine was in an area that was closed off. (So was the gift shop but that was something I wasn’t interested in anyways)

I've been to a lot of zoos in my life, but this is my absolute favourite one. I grew up going to the Bramble Park Zoo and loving every minute. It has got the greatest set-up. Instead of being on hot concrete like most zoos, this zoo (as the name suggests) is in a park. There are tons of trees and shade. It's not too big to be overwhelming, but certainly big enough to see lots of amazing animals. I love the work they do rehabilitating raptors!

Great Zoo - made much better by the new Lion/Africa area. Lots of hills - so not the best for the elderly or extremely unfit, but certainly a world class zoo so conveniently close to the CBD (especially by ferry). Very different to Sydney Zoo out west where you can see all the animals more easily - but you’re a lot closer to the animals at Taronga. If you’re going to attend more than once in a year, well worth getting a Zoo Friends annual pass.

  • 5/5 Sap C. 3 years ago on Google
This is certainly one of the best complete Zoo expexperiences in Sydney. This zoo has all the usual attractions from a premier zoo plus a good variety of Australian animal life plus reptiles. Taronga staff made covid access easy, of course, the displays were good, most in a creative habitat suitable for the animals. Very few remnants of the OLD zoo days, except for some historic buildings, kept for nostalgic appearances. Interaction via the on line app is great, and availability of maps and info gave good access to planning where to go next. Food access reasonable, the cheaper end fare, a little crowded at lunch. Overall, great day with kids and young grandkids in tow

Love the zoo, the new African Savannah is wonderful with giraffes and zebras together with the best view across Sydney harbour. Lions, meerkats, tigers, elephants and so many more that we discover a 'new' animal everytime we go. The staff/keepers are wonderful always willing to give you some information about their own special animal that they look after. The Fishing cat who we know is real because we saw him ONCE in all the years we have been going to the zoo, we still check everytime, hoping we will see him again. The Capabary are our latest fascination, they are very cute in an unusual way with their massive rodent like teeth. Always a great day out and we always finish with a ride back up the hill in the Sky Safari marvelling at what an amazing city we live in and all the animals we had seen that day.

The volunteers & staff are super friendly & most importantly: informative. Due to COVID/not peak season the food market wasn't open there was a line up to get into the cafe, we weren't bothered for the wait so left. All in all, a wonderful day had!

We had a big disappointment with the zoo today, after logging in and we went to take the sky safari what my son wanted so much, we arrived at the entrance at 15:20 pm, almost 2 am before 17pm and it was already closed, with the sign of schedules as we did the photo. My son came out of it crying because he was unable to make his trip. The main tour did not even make the closing time be at 17pm

  • 3/5 Haig D. 3 years ago on Google
Great place but need more focus on customer service. They advertise as: "Limited number of spots" (for Corona Virus) We bought tickets a few days in advance, and when we arrived there was signs saying their car park was FULL. So we parked 10 minutes down the road. The whole day anywhere we went it was packed and crowded full of people. Also the announcement said the Zoo was closing at 5pm but we were turned away from the Tiger exhibit at 4:20pm after already waiting in line.

I have visited a number of zoos of the past few years years and these guys are often hard to spot

Overall experience is great. But it would be better if they have a marker/indicator of up to which point in the queue will most likely to be admitted inside the seal show/bird show. We all know it's common sense to line up early to get a higher chance of making it in, but for some people who are there for the first time, they would queue up without the certainty of even making it. Yesterday we saw a bunch of people behind us who were not able to watch because the venue was already full.

Great place to take the kids. I went during the week so it wasn’t too busy and far more enjoyable. You can bring your own food and snacks but there are kiosks there with food.

  • 4/5 Kevin C. 3 years ago on Google
I haven't been here since I was a kid and it made me feel like one again. The layout itself is great and the range of animals is excellent. I guess there could be more staff directing the hordes of families and the animals could be more grateful for my presence and avail themselves more but I suppose that's a criticism for most zoos. The location is stunning with a fantastic backdrop of Sydney. The food market which was the feeding enclosure for the humans was a little poor and under staffed. Covid cut backs I suppose.

Luckily we stayed over night at the wildlife retreat so animals we didn't see day 1 we saw day 2 :) Keepers were all knowledgeable and friendly and loved hearing about the conversation work Taronga is apart of.

Lovely zoo, currently one way system but are welcome to travel around more than once if needed. Lots of different animals to see. Alot of information on the animals to read which is great. Would come back again. Child friendly, wheelchair access to most areas that I can remember.

Really good compact zoo to visit. Great range of smaller animals. Was lucky enough to get a glimpse of the new baby gorilla being hand-reared. Staff are really helpful and wheelchair access is good. A range of things to see outdoors and in so a good option for a showery day.

Despite the weather and the important need for social distancing. We had a very enjoyable time at the zoo, a couple of sections were closed off but still plenty to see. The food in the Hide (?) restaurant was good, although my pasta was somewhat cool. Overall definitely worth a visit.

It was good but felt the social distance rules could be more enforced the toilets were well supervised and delt with well. People moaned about them, but it's there for a reason peps. (Translated by Google) We spent a day at the bristol zoo for our last visit to England. The zoo is not very big so it's easy to walk around with young children and come back to see things again. I thought most of the enclosures looked pretty good, large animals will never look "natural" ... we were surprised at the variety the zoo has to offer. Lions, gorillas, monkeys, birds are normal zoo offerings, but there was also an insect section, nocturnal animals and more. The nocturnal animals exhibition was particularly exciting, they trained animals to think night was day (Original) İngiltere'ye yaptığımız son ziyaret için bristol hayvanat bahçesi bahçelerinde bir gün geçirdik. Much better than expected. I was a bit wary because some reviews here had complained about a lot being closed because of the Coronavirus, and that there were no big animals. But the only thing we found closed was the Butterfly House, and even though the only big animals were a couple of lions and a family of Gorillas, there were so many of those animals that make you go "ooh it's a ..." that it was a real highlight of the trip. Red pandas, piranhas, puffer fish, archer fish, ring-tailed lemurs, gibbons, armadillos, assassin bugs, leaf ants, tarantulas. There was of course nesting penguins and sealions at feeding time, along with a family of meerkats.

I had an enjoyable visit here. I felt the zoo was quite small however. Plenty to see, and worth the money. I particularly enjoyed the penguin area. The cafe was overpriced but that's what you expect anyway. Can't comment on parking as i got a bus from temple meads which seems to run a very infrequent service. I'd say you can view everything in an hour. Wouldnt go here again though just because there wasn't that much really. The sloths at the end were awesome and easily visible unlike some other zoos.

This zoo is so big that you can hardly imagine it, and of course, it cannot be compared with the wild zoo. As the entrance ticket to the zoo in the US capital is free, but parking outside requires a certain fee, but it is much cheaper than the entrance ticket to the North Carolina Zoo because the admission ticket to the North Carolina Zoo is charged by headcounts, while the Smithsonian National Zoological Park is only parking fees, so I highly recommend carpool to save unnecessary expenses. The layout inside is so organized that you don't have to rely on imagination to walk through a maze. It is more convenient to have a guide map.

  • 5/5 Trishda W. 3 years ago on Google
It’s free, but if you want to park in the actual zoo area it’s a bit pricey. But for a whole day of fun, and the price of what it would cost at a regular zoo the price isn’t bad. It was a beautiful place and the kids had a great time and experience!

  • 5/5 Amber M. 3 years ago on Google
Always a fun trip! We rarely pay for parking, since you can usually find parking on a side street if you’re willing to walk. However if you’re going on a crowded day, don’t want to walk extra, and need to save time, the $30 for parking is worth it. It’s easy, gets you pretty close to the park, and you know you’re money is going to a good cause. If you get lucky, you’ll catch a day where the orangutans are out on the o-line! I’ve only seen this once in the last 4 or 5 trips I’ve made to the zoo but glad I finally got to see it!

We had a great time visiting with two five year-olds. Timed entry tickets (free, but need to get online ahead of time) and face masks required for those six and older. Most kids three and older, including ours, wore masks. Some exhibits were closed (pandas, reptile house, small mammal house, etc.), but with so few people there we actually saw more and at closer distances than in years past. Our favorites were the gorillas, elephants, and seals. Due to social distancing requirements there were lines to get into see the gorillas and elephants, but the lines move quickly and the zoo workers make the wait as fun as possible. Snack foods, beverages, and souvenirs available for sale.

Returning after ten years and surprised to find the experiences not quite as good. The Bird show featured just three main birds for a whopping 12 minutes. The restaurant was closed and only odd choices for kids in the cafe (Spicy Burrito anyone?). They want you to stop buying plastic but you can only refill your water bottle with warm water. The entire Kangaroo and Australia section is closed. Your kids will see the zip lines but that’s another $200. The theater is closed. Prices, though, remained just as high. Still a fun day with great views, but not to the gold star standard we remembered. .

This was such an incredible experience.I wish I could give this 10 stars but alas there are only 5 available. We did a roar and snore overnight stay at the zoo and it was incredible. We were made to feel like part of the zoo family and all of the staff were incredibly knowledgeable engaging. They obviously have so much passion for their work. The animals are spectacular and the focus on conservation and awareness is wonderful. Can't recommend this enough. It is a very special zoo and if you ever get the chance, roar and snore is an experience you will never forget.

A remarkable institution. A strong focus on conservation with all profits going to education, breeding and other conservation efforts. The staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable, even being able to answer unusual and specialised questions. Also a fascinating history evolving from a circus like entertainment focus from the early 20th century to today's enlightened conservation focus, in parallel with and leading humanity's own evolution. A truly remarkable and valuable global institution. Five stars.

Been coming to Taronga every few years for my 44 years. It never disappoints. This time we stepped it up and tried the roar and snore. Staying overnight was so cool. Starting with welcome drinks and nibbles whilst snakes and lizards are brought around to your tables. Two night tours about an hour long either side of a lovely dinner overlooking the harbour. Seeing the animals at night was an excellent experience especially if you’ve been to the zoo many times as it’s so different. The kids were so excited walking around as if they own the whole zoo, and were so inquisitive asking the zoo staff questions all night long. The tents were great, with beds and bathrooms nearby but your not in them for long as the 2 morning tours get you up and going early. Breakfast between the morning tours as well which was plentiful and gives you energy for the day ahead. The morning tours were excellent because you see all the preparations that are done before the zoo opens. The animals are often busy with morning energy after being fed breakfast. But our highlights were going into the giraffe enclosure to meet them and then feed them, amazing experience and cool photos, and similar meeting Charlie the Australian sea lion who walked amongst our group. Then we had the zoo to ourselves to explore before the public joined us which was awesome too and we had such a great day we upgraded to a season pass which includes western plain zoo Apparently like many businesses covid has hit them hard so hopefully people start coming back as it was a fantastic day with lots of safety measures in place in regards to covid rules.

A nice zoo with views outlooking Sydney Harbour . The zoo is easy to reach by ferry ⛴ from the Circular Quay and Mainly wharf, you can buy tickets in advance to skip the line. The constant improvements/upgrades keeps the experience interesting, educational and a whole lot of fun. You can bring your own food and snacks ( highly recommended) ,but there are kiosks there with food ( very pricey).Would also recommend to come early i.e. when the zoo opens ,so that you have plenty of time to visit all animals and enclosures. Lots of ground to cover and a lot of walking. The reason for 3 stars review: not allowed to touch, cuddle or hold koala 🐨, it was very disappointing and we have came all the way from USA 🇺🇸. It was my dream and wish to hold koala , very disappointing and heartbreaking. Overall it was a good experience, loved the cable car ride - Sky Safari, it was fun and the views were spectacular. The tickets are expensive in my opinion, not worth the money , if you can’t cuddle the iconic Australian animal - koala. The best part of the Taronga zoo is the amazing views, but as a Zoo, its poor with not many animals around and people have to pile on top of each other to be able to see something.

Has improved dramatically since my last visit. The facilities for animals seem more substantial. The eatery is, as always busy and there can be a lack of places to sit and eat. Otherwise it's such a beautiful spot and such an important zoo in the support of endangered animals everywhere.

-Food selection and food outlets need a massive upgrade. - More children activities inside the park is paramount. It gets boring after 1 hour of being there (child feedback) says it all. - More seating areas for families. - Kitchen staff need to be a little more friendly. A little complacency perhaps from the management 🤷‍♂️

My tips for a good day out at the zoo. - You can get some of the best views of Sydney harbour from the giraffe enclosure. Make sure to wear appropriate walking shoes and pack a lunch if you don't want to pay for overpriced and gross cafeteria-style food. If you're entering from the wharf side, catch the gondola lift to the top and walk back down. If you're starting from the parking lot side, don't get too excited and jump on the gondola lift. Otherwise, you'll be walking up a hill the entire day. I believe the entry fee gives you one free gondola lift ride.

I had not been to Taronga Zoo for many years and was quite excited about going. What a terrible disappointment it was. We arrived at 9.45am and started to work our way down the hill. I had my son, daughter in law and grandaughter (age 2) who was so looking forward to seeing her favourite animals, Lions, Tigers and Elephants. There were none to see. At the Elephant house we were told to come back in the afternoon as the Elephants were being showered. Lions were not to be seen and I think I caught a slight orange flash of what may have been a Tiger, way back up the enclosure in long grass. What a total waste of time. Never to be repeated.

Quite a large zoo with plenty of animals to see. The tiger trek was slightly underwhelming, though, but the inactive animals aren't things to blame the zoo on. Relatively inexpensive entry fee (order online ahead of time) makes it a good value.

Taronga Zoo has come so far and it’s an absolute credit to the Trust tasked with guiding it. I LOVED the tiger exhibit - although the seal exhibit really could do with an upgrade. I also love the return & earn and being able to donate the proceeds of drink bottles to the zoo! Such a wonderful experience (even with COVID restrictions)!

A great place to bring kids and spend a day. Plenty of animals in open areas, birds, reptiles, African animals, Asian elephant and more. Facilities are good. Food is available in limited options but easy to find something you like. We loved the tiger enclosure, seal show and the bird show. We booked in advance but it was busy. For the shows there are queues and some waiting but you would get a good spot as the areas are big. Best is to take the ferry from city. We took the car and it was a long ride into car park and out.

Fabulous day outing for young and old alike. Beautiful grounds well maintained. Animals look well fed and extremely comfortable in large enclosures. Farmyard and learning exhibits. Probably one of the best zoo in the world which offers some excellent insight on the wildlife on display The setting is incredible with a stupendous view on Sidney bay area Excellent focus on the local and often very evasive fauna Make sure to come by ferry ⛴️ from Sidney harbour

  • 2/5 Raina A. 2 years ago on Google
Quite a few closed exhibits, which was disappointing as we wanted to see the lions. We went midweek from 10am-3pm, which started off busy with lots of a prams and young families but gradually dwindled to a ghost town by the afternoon. Lots of the food and gift shops were closed. The cafe area wouldn't even serve coffee at 2pm, and looked like they wanted to pack up and go home. Shopkeepers at the gift shop were happier to chat with each other than serve customers. Everything just had the atmosphere of "we'd rather just pack up and everyone go home". It's a shame as it's a lovely zoo with a unique zoo. But it seems like they've enjoyed not having people in the zoo during lockdown. Make sure you bring water as the bubblers are hard to come by, and pack your own lunch unless you want to spend a fortune.

In my 18 years, I have never been to Taroonga zoo and my opinion about the price of $49 is way too exorbitant and really not worth that kind of money and there are far better places where you get that worth of a true Zoo or a Safari 😜Lucky there's a gondola that' takes you to the top and this is included in that price of a ticket which is a saviour and it's a nice experience in my view and a map without which you will be lost and just be going around in circles 🤓Not to forget another $22 for the parking which is for all day another joke and can't justify that 🙄

Taronga Zoo is really well maintained and beautiful. You need to take a ferry from circular quay which will take only 10 mins to reach there. NSW coupons are accepted to book a ticket, I would suggest you to book the tickets online to avoid delay at the entrance. After tickets check, there are free cable cars which will take you inside the zoo. It's a beautiful place and too good for kids to enjoy. I recommend this place to everyone, must visit atleast once when you are in Australia🇦🇺🐨🦘

  • 4/5 Mahéshiká S. 2 years ago on Google
It’s has been amazing as always. Recommend taking lots of fresh snacks, water and drinks to keep you and little ones hydrated. Running between keeper talks and shows, we really didn’t find time to sit down at the restaurant until about 2:30 or 3pm. We loved the seal show which runs 3times a day and free bird show was so amazing with owls and cockatoos. We started with sky safari which was amazing with breathtaking views of the city with opera house and harbour bridge. If you go with a pram, it gets a bit annoying cause pram paths means it’s a long way to the exhibit than stairs. So recommend a baby carrier or umbrella stroller for bigger kids. We went on a siper hot day, and kids loved the wet face towels (better on an esky) on the way home to feel refreshed after a tiring day. Book your visit online even if you have membership to avoid queues.

It's a great zoo in an amazing location! Really annoyed at the supposed limited numbers due to Covid. The place was packed and on arrival we were told we could not get on the cable car as it had exceeded capacity??? That doesn't seem like the numbers were capped to me...

  • 5/5 Jash V. 2 years ago on Google
Great for a whole day out (with family or friends). A lot of people seem to go in the heat of summer but you'll be out in the sun and walking a fair bit. Would highly recommend trying to pick a day that's cloudier or slightly cooler. When I went the sky car was one-way from the bottom but allowed return trips from the front entrance of the Zoo.

  • 3/5 Vrushik G. 2 years ago on Google
A properly planned and designed zoo. They have some interesting activities going on now and then. Loved the lively huge enclosed space for birds. They have animals from almost all the continents and takes proper care. The seal on the other hand was swimming alone and was looking quite sad as it was going in circles continuously and I think because it was the only one in the large water body. The turtle's, tortoise, snakes and other reptiles are kept under acceptable conditions. Overall if you have time or want to spend a day out in Sydney, this will be a nice place. But do not keep this as a no.1 priority if you're on a trip to Sydney.

  • 5/5 Arielle M. 2 years ago on Google
If you are in Sydney I would highly recommend a trip to Taronga Zoo. We had the best day. It takes approximately 4 hours to cruise around and see everything, without rushing or including any shows. The grounds are phenomenal, the animals are all in immaculate condition with beautiful enclosures and a wonderful view of Sydney!

  • 4/5 Lucy B. 2 years ago on Google
Nice exhibits, fairly wheelchair accessible.. If you have a manual chair you'll probably have a bit of a hard time. My electric wheelchair died before I could even see the full zoo because the slopes and hills where just draining the battery. Usually I can go out for a day trip no drama about the battery dying. But as beautiful as the space is and as much as there weren't many steps, the slopes really are intense. The seals show was so informative! Really had a great time learning about them and seeing how they partake in their cooperative care routines.

Excellent entertainment for the whole family for almost the whole day. Public transport is the best to reach there, Train, Ferry and Gondola. Good variety of animals and th E stunning views of the city sky scraper is the cherry in the icing. Highly recommended for a day trip for the whole family.

  • 4/5 James M. 2 years ago on Google
Went here on Easter Saturday. We took advantage of the free public transport (a special 10 day offer) and travel vouchers, so normally entrance fee is $44.10, but we only paid $19.00. When you get off the ferry there is a 5 min walk up to the entrance, or you can queue for a free cable car ride into the zoo. We walked. Once inside, you can pick up a free paper map, or just look at the many maps posted on signs throughout the zoo. We watched the seal show, and then just spent about 3 hours walking around. There is a souvenir shop that doesn't accept cash, and many food and drink outlets. Can be quite tiring walking around; a few stairs and hills to get up. I hadn't been here for about a decade, and I just felt some areas were a bit in need of modernising. We took the cable car back to the ferry wharf, which was a real highlight...it passes right over the elephant enclosure. Can't really say anything very negative; it was a beautiful day, wasn't too crowded, and we saved a lot of money with the free public transport and vouchers. Probably wouldn't come back again for a few years...it can be expensive.

So many aspects to this zoo now so allow a FULL day to enjoy it all! First up we enjoyed the skycar ride down and up again to gain aerial views of the zoo plus those wonderful Sydney Harbour views. Seal Show at 11 am is wonderful, followed by the Bird Show at Noon with spectacular views of Sydney Harbour, city and bridge etc in the background. Seeing the tigers and the gorillas was a big highlight too. Amazing bird aviaries, animals of all sorts and three cafes all add up to a fascinating day out with much exercise done walking up and down the many pathways.

We went on a Tuesday, at the end of the summer so the weather was perfect, not too hot or cold. The animals are just great, they are pretty much on their natural habitat, not forced to do any shows, expect by the seals and the birds which it’s so much worth viewing. Great view of the city and the bay! Just awesome place!!!

We love going to this zoo, of course to see the animals with the 7yo, but for us adults it's the views back across the harbour that are breathtaking. Seeing the lions feeding was also amazing to watch. Could not recommend this place enough. Each time we visit Sydney we take ferry and go to the zoo.

Amazing experience in Taronga Zoo at the moment, there are 5 teenage lions that are 10 months old. As well as a number of young 4 yr old Tigers are 4 years old. Loving how active the lions, tigers and chipanzees were this visit. The food on offer isn't the best post covid whilst all the smaller stalls around the park appear to be closed and never reopened. Food Market is the only option with limited options outside of chicken tenders/nuggets and sandwiches.

  • 5/5 Dania H. 1 year ago on Google
Taronga is such a great place to go when unsure what to do in Sydney. The shows and experiences they have on and continually change are always filled with informative content and exhilarating performances. The website does a great job at explaining how the animals are cared for but there are multiple signs within the zoo that explain to pedestrians how the animal in sight or their whole species is being protected. The map is quite helpful when going around. Make sure to leave a good 3-4 hours to be able to enjoy the whole zoo. There are many (friendlier) wildlife roaming around especially birds. The zoo could still be fun if there were some scattered rains throughout the day but quite the hassle if going on a very rainy day. Of course the photos don’t do it justice needs to be experienced first hand to benefit from the beauty and variety of Taronga.

Taronga Zoo has been a Sydney icon for over 100 years, we haven't been back here for many years and we were fortunate to visit this day. Taronga has a large display of animals, all looked very well cared for and what still seems limited space is fully maximized. Getting to the zoo is a breeze, we took the ferry from Circular Quay which drops you off at the bottom entrance or take the free bus to the main entrance and work your way through the zoo downhill all the way. At the top entrance the Sky gondola will take you for a loop over the top of the zoo and can also be your exit to the bottom and subsequent ferry terminal. Taronga is must if you haven't been here before, or as in our case a re-visit. Highly recommended.

I have an annual pass and think this is one of most beautiful places in Sydney. It is very scenic, offers great walks ,, great animal shows and overall it's a fantastic day out with the kids. There is also a great playground for the little ones and a jumping castle. Yardarm the tiger was being very loud, roaring it was awesome. The shops, are also very nice inside. And if you are a member you pay 50% less on the car park.

The zoo was fabulous. The most amazing outlook into Sydney. Animals were all really well looked after and looked to be happy. Ammenities we’re pretty dated but for the most part they were fine. Wonderful experience at the Wildlife Retreat. Staff were great and overall running was smooth and they provided extra touches that made it feel so special for my boyfriend and I who were there to celebrate his birthday. The guided tours were informative and getting to see the animals close up was pretty cool (for a non-animal lover myself). Buffet breakfast was my personal highlight - quality of food and serve was great with views to match. Plus having access to the zoo on the from the day you check in to the day you check out is a great bonus. Highly recommend if you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion.

Overall a place to visit, lots of animals but can be pricey for a family. Gondolas aren’t working so if you’re not good at stairs and walking uphill it’s a problem. Zoo it totally cashless so you either need a credit card or you can buy a prepaid card at the zoo. Best to buy tickets online for weekends and school holidays to avoid the queue. $22 for all day parking (in addition to entry fee). Food and drinks are expensive and limited choices & variety ($25 for 2 cans of soft drink, small chips and a fruit salad) so take your own if you can.

  • 5/5 Amos H. 9 months ago on Google
Amazing! Stunning scenery! The kids enjoy the animals in their open spaces while the adults enjoy the fabulous views of the Sydney harbour area! Just amazing! I wish I was a zoo keeper! 🤣 Parking is easy, there are some street side parking around the entrance but parking in the multi storey car park is more convenient for those with young kids. Food is probably the most basic. Unless you go for one of the more expensive restaurants. We didn't, so can't say. The food market serves basic burgers and chips, bento and roasted chicken.

Very well managed zoo. The views across the water was beautiful. Really cool setup for the Australia animals where one can get really up close. A great way to spend 3-4hrs with the family. Highlights for us were seeing the red panda, the koalas, the seal show, the capybaras, and the gorilla.

One of the few zoo around the city of Sydney Australia. this one is located up north and you may see the opera house and Harbour Bridge. there are several ways to get to the location. You may take the bus 100 from the city, or you may drive over there, and also, you can take the ferry over there. It was a little disappointing going to the zoo as many of the animals were not available. There are many different types of animals in the zoo, but only very few of them.

Spectacular, epic and the best zoo I v ever been and i have been at too many. Love the animals and mostly the layout of the stages. You can go in many ways and manage to go around instead of returning. Then the scenery its just wow... Dont forget to take the ferry back to city. Its free weekends if you been traveling all week.

What's wonderful day out with the family, Young and old! We used our Melbourne zoo membership to get entry to this zoo. We were gobsmacked of the views of the harbour bridge. You can see the view from most of the attractions. There were a few shows available when we went, the bird and seal show was fantastic. It was very crowded, as it was the school holidays. At lunch time, we tried going to the main cafe to purchase something to eat, but there was no way we were going to line up, the line was shocking, they could open up a new cafe near by so it's not too busy in the main area. Otherwise, we would come back again for a nice day in Sydney!

It was a great family day out. The view of Sydney skyline Habor Bridge, Opera house, and all was stunning. There were a couple of steep slopes to climb to get to certain animals, such as my favourite capibaras. Also just beware if you are or with people with reduced ability. The bird show is definitely worth the trip.

Last visited 28 December 2022 so thought I'd share a review on here. Fabulous zoo!! Far better than any zoo's in NZ. Cost is only NZ$50 (or about AU$44) and that included the gondola. Return ferry to Circular Quay - public transport is dirt cheap (Opal) compared with NZ. Bird and Seal Show is wonderful. Though the seal show line is super long, we still managed to get a seat for the first time at the front. It'll be great if this zoo could order heaps of size L t-shirts for men and a variety especially for the summer holidays. Good thing we visited before they closed the gondola for renovations. Weather was beautiful. A day trip well worth it. We'll be back in Syd end of this year (late December) for a solid 2 weeks. With plans to visit the Gold Coast for the 1st time, end of next year (end of 2024)... AL from New Zealand.

Wonderful weekend visit for all ages. Lord of interactive and educational activities as well (lots of presentations, some engagement stands in the holidays for kids, etc.). Little sad the gorillas aren’t currently here, but plenty of other animals to see. If preparing to see the seal show line up at least 10-15mins early as there are limited seats. Just great.

Very much enjoyed this zoo! (Very crowded but what can I say?) Loved how the giraffes did funny things and how cute the reptiles were. Very big with many sights. A beautiful lookout for the giraffes! Would recommend!

Very large zoo near the iconic Sydney Harbour. Has all the animals a zoo should have and many unique Australian species. The animals here look really clean and well cared.

Great zoo, plenty of animals (most were not hiding away) and beautiful tropical grounds and views of the harbour. I’d rate it better than Melbourne zoo. Check out the free-bird presentation, we only caught the last few minutes but it looked impressive

The interactive local wildlife exhibits were very unexpected and really interesting. It's definitely one of the better zoo's I've visited in my life. Wouldn't it be lovely if we didn't have to compromise between conservation and commercialism

Taronga Zoo is a great place for the kids. Excellent kids playgrounds. Not as many Animals as it used to. Looking a bit tired these days post Covid. Haven't noticed as many talks going on with the animals. The bird show and seal show used to be awesome. The sky cars are closed now also making it quite hard to get around. It's great if you need a bit of exercise. I feel like this zoo is in need of more funding and support. The giraffe exhibit is excellent. You really get a close look at them. The lion enclosure was closed for maintenance. Lots of great photo opportunities with the family. Nice places to sit and have a picnic.

A beautiful big zoo that really proves they care about the animals, and that education and conservation is their priority. The exhibits are all spacious and well designed, the map is very helpful and has a list of all keeper talks and shows, and the animals all seem very happy! I've travelled to many different zoos around Australia and internationally, and Taronga is the best! Loved the seal show and bird show, and the shops have lots of cute merch and souvenirs. Check prices online before you book (and beware of scam tickets!! The poor lady in front of us was denied entry as her ticket wasn't valid), and also check the open hours. We went on a Sunday in mid August and it wasn't too busy at all. We stayed until close (4:30pm) and it was great because there were a lot less children around, but some of the animals couldn't be seen at that time, and the shop we were hoping to visit had already closed.

Best zoo I've been too — prettiest, cleanest, & most ethical one so far! If I lived in Australia, I would get an annual pass. We spent 5.5 hours & only left because it was closing time.

First time at Taronga Zoo and I am impressed by it’s great variety of attractions. Plenty of kids friendly trails and activities so it will be perfect for families to visit. There are also a few areas under construction at the moment since they are relocating some of the exhibits. It took us around 4-5 hours to walk through the entire zoo which is a decent size considering it being so close to city. Make sure to allocate time to catch some of the animal talks/shows or their feeding time. It wasn’t too busy even for a weekend. Parking was easy to find ($22 flat rate) and close to no line up for entry.

Best zoo in Sydney no doubt!! Beautifully built and picturesque views of the Sydney skyline. Many animal encounters and zoo talks! Stroller friendly! You need a good 6 hours to visit the whole zoo in one day

  • 5/5 Murray J. 7 months ago on Google
We had a fantastic visit and our toddler enjoyed looking at all the animals. We could definitely spend another day there checking out the other half of the zoo! We were able to watch a couple of the presentations which were great. Would definitely recommend if in Sydney with kids.

Wonderful zoo. I love this zoo. I had a Dingo encounter. It was awesome. So much to see. I spent the whole day here. The Seal show is great. Such a beautiful zoo. A holiday to Sydney must include a visit to the zoo.💗🐆🐅🦒🦓💗🐕

This is by far the best zoo I’ve visited. We did the koala close encounter and it’s something I’ll never forget. The animals are all housed in lovely enclosures that feel natural. It feels like the animals have a good quality of life here.

From an initial, is this it, to an amazing pretty full day. We made the mistake of entering from the bottom entrance after getting the ferry. The first couple of hundred meters around some of the seal pools, etc, seemed very quiet and drab with lots of building work. Not at all what we had seen on TV. But progress a little further, and everything changed. Well layed out and so much to see, and we had a great day. There are so many good spots it's just to hard to list them all. Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to cover the whole Zoo and don't miss anything out.

Beautiful zoo! Rich with all kind of species and animals. Recommend for families - make sure to have a hat during summer and wear comfortable cloths. The not perfect part was the toilets ( very dirty ) and the seal show - we say for 1 hour waiting for the show - then someone showed up and said that the show won’t happen at this zone, it will hapoen somewhere else. Otherwise all good

Spent the week down in Sydney went to Taronga Zoo. Well what am amazing experience. We stayed the night and did the "Roar and Snore" and this was by far one of the best experiences my family and I have done. The staff were amazing and informative and the tent stay was the best. Waking up to Lions roaring is something I will not forget. If you are thinking of something to do with your family this would be the first thing on the list of things to do in Sydney. 10/10 🙌

What a fantastic place to visit! We visited Taronga Zoo for the first time on a holiday to Sydney for our toddler's birthday, and we all had an amazing day. We took the direct ferry from Circular Keys and got there early and, despite being school holidays, it didn't feel too busy within the zoo. The views of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House are spectacular. The enclosures all appeared well maintained and there are lots of encounters and interactions available to purchase. We bought tickets for the giraffe feeding which was fun! There was quite a bit of construction going on to improve the park but it didn't affect us. We spent over 4 hours there but could have easily spent longer if our daughter wasn't tired out. We'll definitely go back again!

We had a wonderful visit to the Taronga Zoo in Sydney. It's great for family's couples and even if you go solo, Lots to see here and enjoy. Loads of shady areas to stop and relax if you get tired walking. You can access the zoo by taking one of the water taxis over from the Circular Quay.

Went to the zoo on a Monday afternoon. We took the ferry on the way and back and it was well worth it. We got there around 1pm. It wasn’t busy and happy to see the animals were active when we went. Last time I went was probs 4 yrs ago and lots of improvements have been made. The new lion enclosure is beautiful. You will definitely see them inside and up close even. We were lucky to have 1 lioness move up to the glass and run along side my 7yo boy. It was a memorable moment!

Visited Taronga Zoo on a weekday during school holidays and it was bustling! Unfortunately, I missed out on the seal show as it was fully packed, and I couldn't find the bears (probably were sleeping somewhere out of sight). A bit of construction was underway, but this was a minor inconvenience. Beyond these, everything else was absolutely splendid! The animals appeared content and in excellent health. Also they have the most luxurious view I've ever seen - that iconic Sydney Harbour view! :D It was not only entertaining but also very educating. Taronga is a great testament to how we can co-exist with nature in harmony. The area is huge, I'll definitely go back to see and learn everything I've missed. Must-visit for all nature lovers!

I'll start by saying you need 4 to 5 hours to enjoy it all. It's BIG, so plan accordingly, take a break & stay hydrated. It's worth it. Booking & entering were smooth, no issues. Scenery from the Sydney Harbour in the background was spectacular. All in all good experience.

It is one of the best zoos I've been to around the world. The animal habitats are large and clean, and everything is incredibly well cared for. Arrive ~30 minutes before doors open to purchase an animal encounter, they go quickly. If they don't pass out numbers outside, or if you don't receive one, head to the gift shop when you enter to purchase.

  • 5/5 Pavel V. 5 months ago on Google
Be aware the zoo might be a bit larger than you think and the experience might get a little bit overwhelming. ...and there's A LOT of children. 😁 Apart from that, I got a very natural feeling here, tasteful enclosures, some animals even weren't asleep during my visit. Nothing to think about, go there, enjoy, a must visit while in Sydney. Such a shame the Sky safari is no longer available thought.

A must visit spot in Sydney. Went there on my last day to Sydney on my birthday and got a $1 entrance. Lots of animals, great vibes and fun experience. Can easily walk around and spend 4 hours here.

Zoo 8.2/10 Really had some beautiful moments. Few enclosures didn’t have the best view points, animal diversity was great. Seemed well cared for, rich habitats, some animal playrooms felt a little cold and concrete. When it got quiet I had some very beautiful experiences and interactions with inhabitants. Facilities 5/10 bathrooms horrible to hunt for, not the cleanest, cafes offer limited over priced medium quality options. Shady seats were scarce. Map was a little tricky to navigate with. Parking and getting into the Zoo felt awkward (Sydney and signs honestly needs help) Staff 9/10 Kind, patient, helpful hard to find throughout the Zoo unless in a shopping area. Feels like some spaces could have been utilised better for traffic and navigation/view points. Audio tracks could do with a little update. If you visit without kids, 3 hours for comfy stroll, 4 hours for solid experience and gift shop time.

Love Taronga so much that we have annual passes for the family and come few times a month. As Zoo friend you can even come after school when it’s quiet and you always have a great time. From babies to grandparents everyone loves it! Always great school holidays activities as well.

Spent the afternoon casually strolling through the Taronga Zoo. It’s an easy ferry ride away from Circular Quay making it a good way to burn up time on vacation in Sydney. Clean, well maintained, and laid out with an easy walking flow from one themed area to another. I never felt like I was being rushed or missing anything. My favorite aspects were the walk through aviaries that let you get up close to many of the birds in residence and the focus on the welfare of the animals in their charge. Unlike any zoo I’ve been too before, Taronga Zoo has preserved some of their oldest building, defunct buildings as educational exhibits of how zoos kept animals in the past and how it different it is today.

Well designed and easy to access. Buy tickets online in advance for discount. Food is expensive, so pack ahead (can of Cola is $5). The animals are great with elephants spraying mud water everywhere. It costs $40 to feed giraffes a couple carrots 🤯 Go to the zoo in North Carolina and it costs $2, plus they're more interactive there. Otherwise, awesome zoo and well planned out! Great view of Sydney Harbour as well.

I went here for my birthday which is free plus you get 10% off of anything you purchase. I purchased our tickets prior to this knowledge but I could have gotten a refund. They have knowledgeable volunteers who are there to help you with directions and factual tidbits about the animals. We didn't pack a lunch but we ate breakfast prior to going. We ended up getting yogurt and rice paper rolls. Both were great! If you plan on really eating there, I'd pack a lunch.

Advantageous to go early so all the animals are active and also you have enough time to look at all that thwy offers. Some of the animals are missing would have been better to able to fill the spaces with other animals. Good place to spend your day at.

  • 4/5 Cynthia 4 months ago on Google
Took a ferry to Taronga Zoo and enjoyed the view of the harbour along the way! Saw several animals that are native to Australia, and you can even see the whole of Sydney from the zoo. In my opinion, the shows and talks were more educational for visitors instead of performances (unlike some zoos in Asia) so this was a pleasant experience. We spent about 3.5 hours in the place and would recommend visitors to start by taking a bus to the main entrance, then walk down to the Lower entrance (which is near the ferry to head back to Sydney). Timings of the ferry are also frequent and clearly indicated on the information boards in the zoo! Definitely buy your tickets online for a discount.

After living in Sydney all my life I’ve decided to give the zoo a visit finally but left with mixed feelings. The overall layout and setting of the zoo is lovely, easy to navigate and efficiently laid out. The view of the city skyline is iconic and mesmerising. Though what left me wanting more were the lack of animals. There were many exhibits with 1 or 2 animals and even some with none!

Taronga is definitely one of the best maintained zoos I have ever visited. The animals looked cleaned and seemed well taken care of. I am happy to spend a day here with my beloved niece and family and just appreciate nature and animals. Some travel tips: 1. Bring your own water bottles 2. Dont forget to wear sunblock 3. Wear a hat and sunglasses 4. Bring an umbrella just in case 5. Try to visit in the morning ( I noticed that the animals are asleep in the afternoon)

Popped over to the zoo on my last day in Sydney. I highly advise taking the Taronga Zoo ferry out of the circular quay. You will be rewarded with expansive views of the harbor and city, including the opera house and bridge. We were worried about the hike up the hill into the zoo. It's not bad, and even if you want to save your steps, there's a bus that met the ferry that takes you to the main entrance. We only viewed about half the zoo as our time was running short, and we've seen many of the other animals at other zoos. This zoo is unique because it seems to strike the balance between showing the animals in their natural habit which also ensuring that you can actually see them.it was a real treat to see the rarer creatures we don't even get in zoos back home.

  • 5/5 Mike A. 4 months ago on Google
Fun zoo. Would recommend when you get off of the ferry to take the bus to the top gate and work your way down the hill instead of up. Ferry ride from Sydney is easy and 20 minutes. Great views.

My day at Taronga Zoo was truly unforgettable. The endless variety of animals roaming their “homes” brought so much joy to everyone around. The numerous event featured (extremely) well-trained animals, which added a magical touch to the entire experience. It was a sight witnessing the incredible bond between the animals and their dedicated trainers. I’d especially like to point out the level of care and attention to detail in every presentation. I left with a deeper appreciation for wildlife and environmental conservation. Taronga Zoo isn't just a zoo; it's a place where you connect with nature on a whole new level. Highly recommend for a heartwarming and educational day out!
