I have done this walk many of times and always enjoy it. The walk is 4.5km and will take about 1.5hr/2hrs to complete. There is a carpark but it can get busy especially on the weekends, though you can also park outside and walk in. The walk is family friendly and is fairly easy with a few spots that have uneven surfaces. If you get tired there are a few stops you can stop and sit on a rock to recharge. If you are lucky you might spot some wildlife. Cafe, picnic tables, bbq, swimming area, toilets & kayak/pedal boats for hire also at the park.

A very nice walk around the lake. The terrain is easy to do with some steep sections along the way. I enjoyed the views and wildlife along the way that I never at any time felt it was a difficult walk. There are a lot birds, lizards, little fish and turtles along the lake. It took me 1 hour 40 minutes to do the walk taking in the views and a few off track walks along the way with a total of 5.10 kilometres. There is free parking located near the start of the walk and can be very busy at the weekends. Nice walk, loved it.

The walk was lovely. Great to go on a sunny but cool day so you don’t overheat. The full lake walk says it takes 2h but if you are a moderate to fast walker it should only take around 1h. There are toilets above the lake cafe with a disabled bathroom but the toilets are quite dirty. The car park at the park was very full but there are many places to park in the streets close by.

Easy and beautiful trek to complete. Lake walk can be completed within 2-3hrs. Walk paths are clearly labeled. Better not to go when raining as parts of track might go underwater in few places. Haven’t spotted any wild animals except birds. Better to wear shoes as there are one or two places you may need to climb on rocks. Many beautiful wildflowers and different mosses can be observed. Parking available . Swan boats available.

A hidden natural beauty very close to densely populated parramatta CBD. Decently maintained areas like BBQ, swimming and grasslands ideal for spending time with your family and kids around. Haven't explored the boating but m sure they have few options available for a nice and short boating experience.

What can I say. What a fabulous park. I'm stunned by the walk around here so close to Sydney. The walk around the lake was awesome. Some parts of the track is pretty uneven so you may need steady feet. But quite a spectacular walk. I can see the parking here get pretty crazy as there are not many spots. The google maps tried to take me through a private road owned by the kings school so you have to enter from the southern side. Swimming is available here but only when lifeguards are in duty probably in summer. Decent amount of green space and BBQ in the area.

Peaceful walk around the lake yesterday evening, two of the creek crossings overflowed hence we didn't manage to complete the whole loop, had to turn back(unless you are prepared for wet shoes/feet). Thanks to a nice couple who updated us too. Be careful of rocky, uneven, and wet patches on the path, other than that it was a cooling and pretty great walk with greenery in the midst of a city. Spotted Australian brushturkey, 1 male and 4 females.

Lovely park, easy 4.5km walk around the picturesque lake. Parking is very limited so you might end up in the surrounding streets. Great for small children. Even enjoy a paddle Swan ride around the lake...

Parramatta Lake Walk is a good place for taking a small Hike around the lake. The bush walk feels like we are walking through the forest. There are enough sign boards and trails, so we won't deviate from the walking trail. Boating facility is also available.

Fantastic place to go for a day out and a nice walk. Beware parking can be hard to find and would recommend parking on the street as it’s a short walk to the lake.

Such a really nice walk and there is the main walk which does have shortcuts for those who are on the rush and want to do a quick walk… The walk can take 1.5-2 hours (4.5km) and is a beautiful walk to do during the morning when the park isn’t so busy.. They have updated the walk to include more detail on where to go.. rather then the simple arrows that were there before. Also you may manage to see a couple of these bush turkeys running around in the morning

Great place for a hike. About 1hr 40mins for a 4km hike at 22mins/km with altitude of 74m gain. Not recommended if you have wheelchair to do the whole trip. Although there’s a nice grassy area to relax and enjoy the view. Navigate to Lake Cafe to find parking. Definitely recommended to get a breath of fresh air from the city life.

Was a lovely walk and yet not too intense. Highly recommended. But beware on rainy days, it can get slippery and the paths through the river might be blocked. If going by public transport, the lake is just a few bus stops away from Parramatta train station.

Highly recommended!!! Parramatta Lake Walk offers an exceptional track to refresh and enjoy the beauty of the lake and surrounding bushes. It’s 4.6 km and takes 1.5-2 h to finish. Plenty of lookouts and free car park available in surrounding neighbourhoods. Highly recommended!!!

Loved it, it was a hot day, but the tree cover over the walking paths kept things cool, took a picnic to have after the walk. Highly recommend, No dogs, there were fox baits about. BBQ's, tables and chairs, toilet block, cafe.

A very popular bushwalking trail for all ages. To get a parking spot within the nation carpark you most arrive early as the awareness of this hidden local treasure has greatly increased recently as evident by the state of the bushwalk trail conditions. Alternative entry to the walking trail can be accessed from a laneway off North rocks road. There is always parking within the laneway however no toilets until you walk around to the main carpark. The main loop around lake parra will take you around 1 to 1.5 hours round trip. Remember to take your rubbish with you!

Great place for a decent walk around the reservoir. Medium Grade 3 trail; in places; which takes approximately an hour to circumnavigate; approximately four kilometres. A few creek crossings which would become hazardous in prolonged precipitation. I would suggest going early, or late in the day to avoid crowd's.

Good trek to complete, lots of rocks, soil, trees, water and natural elements for you to relax. There are also toilets and car parking provided, but car parking spaces can be limited during weekends and public holidays. There is also a rowboat service which you can find in other national parks and reserves which is a bit of fun activity. Operates only during weekends, public holidays and school holidays.

Lovely family bush walk around the lake. Pretty easy to do with kids. Excellent views of the lake. Plenty of markings so you won’t get lost. While the parking lot is pretty big, it still got full when we arrived in the afternoon. Had to sit and/or drive around until someone left to get a spot. Clean public toilets, a cafe and few bbq spots. There are paddle boats for hire too.

Lovely area for a walk in Sydney with some wildlife and plants. There are lots of parking spots. The walk takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Some steps are a bit steep but overall an easy walk.

This is one of the most calmest and most stunning place to spend foe a relaxing time with ur loved ones. There is a small playing area for the kids with not too many playing options but just enough. The covered sitting areas are perfect with a trail walk besides the rive is so relaxing

This is another hidden gem around the Parramatta area which every family with kids must visit. We visited this place on a sunny Saturday and couldn't be happier. The walking trail has many adventuristic twists and passws thru many scenic lookouts and stretches along 6km. The boat rides, although called row boats, also has paddle boats the whole family can ride on. There is a cafe and Bbq sheds which we did not try during our visit. Overall, this place has pretty much everything you would expect for in a picnic spot and one that you should not miss in your weekend picnic list.

Astonishingly beautiful and peaceful. Completed in 1856, the Lake Parramatta reservoir was the first large dam built in Australia. It has few paths for every level of fitness to choose from which I’m listing it below: 1)HERITAGE PATH , Grade 1 – 300m one way 2)ARRUNGA BARDO WALK : Grade 2 – 900m one way 3) RESERVOIR TRACK : Grade 3 – 600m one way 4) LAKE CIRCUIT (all tracks combined): Grade 3 – 4200m loop / 2 hrs Please be aware that the Upper and Lower Hunts Creek Crossings may be impassable during and after light to heavy rain events. Do not use Lake Circuit when water is flowing over stepping stones at creek crossings. Dogs are to be kept on leads at all times and cats are not allowed in the reserve at all. No bicycles are allowed on walking tracks. Swimming is not advised in areas other than visitor hub designated area.

In the midst of North Parramatta is this gem where you will find solace and water views. Best time to visit this is before 9 am and you will find parking spots and the walk around the lake is amazing. If you are coming for the first time, you may find it difficult to navigate to this spot.

  • 5/5 Pugalenthi V. 2 years ago on Google
I felt it is fairly an easy walk. Only at few places you might need to jump over the fallen trees and climb the rocks which is worth crossing to enjoy the beauty of the Parramatta Lake and the nature reserve. This is very close to parramatta CBD just 4 KMS away and 9 mins by drive. This place is good for family picnic, bbq, boat rowing, swimming and ofcourse trekking. There is a cafe as well. You can spot lot of birds along the sides of the track. If you are driving go early to find your parking spot otherwise you will definitely be disappointed. Though there are lot of parking space available it gets filled up so fast during the weekends. Overall good experience and expecting to return to this track again soon :)

It is a nice reserve to have a walk around the lake, however, if public transport is available , will be perfect place to spend a Sunday there, bring your food and a nice family day, I think when the light rail to Caringford is up and running, will be great, can`t wait

It's a lovely track. Many have said it's a 4.2 km track along the lake circuit but to reach the start of the lake circuit it takes around 2 km. Overall the circuit from the car parking along the perimeter of the lake and back to the same starting point in the car parking is close to 7 km. I've measured it on the Nike running app. Not a pram friendly track. Worth another visit for sure. Should try boat peddling. It's a good one hour activity on it's own. Swimming is allowed as well. Overall a brilliant place to enjoy with family and friends.

Relatively quiet area, a nice place to bring the family to unwind. Around the picnic area it is a little busy, but there is plenty of seating, a play area, BBQ facilities and amenities. There is a possibility of water bike and kayak hire. In the summer there is opportunity to swim in the lake. Around the lake there are a variety of walks.

This walk route is pretty good ranging from easy to a tough walk if you like being active. It has beautiful scenic point throughout for you to relax and take pics. However walking with a baby is a bit tricky as there is hardky anyway walkway or concrete to either get a pram or if the baby is in the carrier its difficult to navigate on the terrain because its uneven.
