Who knew a vegan Mexican place would be this good. My favourite taco was the Pastor Mushroom w/ Cashew Crema, Pico de Gallo & Pineapple. I did not miss the meat at all.

This place is amazing. Great staff and the food was so tasty and a really good price. I brought 3 of my non veggie friends and they were blown away by how good the food was. We all shared the nachos, myself and another friend shared the corn and everyone had at least once taco. Looking forward to coming back! Would highly recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food at Bad Hombres even as a non-vegetarian, and didn't miss the meat thanks to the terrific flavours and textures. Everything we had was good but special mention goes to the mushroom birria for the memorable textures of the fried mushrooms and deeply flavoured broth. Service was quick and the rustic, cosy vibes were great for a catch up with friends.

The good: Everything! What an experience, definitely one of the best vegan meals I have ever had. Service was fantastic and the cocktails were out of this world. I highly recommend the Pastor Mushroom tacos, BH Cauliflower and the Xocoatl Negroni. The bad: Nothing at all.

We didn’t know it’s vegan restaurant before we got there! But the food were still tasty! Nachos were good! The best taco were eggplant one! That was the best flavor!! The others were okay! The atmosphere in the store was good, very chill and not too busy on Tuesday taco night :) The last order was 8:30pm and the store closed around 9:30pm

Had a delicious meal here tonight on 3 for $10 tacos Tuesday. The loaded fries were also really good. I recommend the mushroom fysh taco and the eggplant taco too. Pleased with our dining experience ☺️

Absolutely amazing food!! Cannot recommend the "tuna" tostada and the birria tacos enough 🔥 Brilliant vegan restaurant, great atmosphere and good range on the menu. The margaritas were a lil watered down but that's honestly the only gripe. Cannot rave about the food enough.

We had the best meal tonight. Took care of every dietary requirement at the table. What you need to do is order the crispy eggplant share dish. Even if you don’t like eggplant. Do it. Mole enchiladas. Good stuff. Tasty potato tacos. Ace. Finish with the Creme Brûlée. It says it’s made of cream corn. But it doesn’t taste like corn. Just coconut. It’s delicious AF. Cancel your plans at all the other restaurants and book here.

Taco Tuesdays are now sorted! 3 tacos = $10 and you can choose from a range of 4 or more flavours, can't remember very well. The fishy mushroom is the best taco I ever had, it's incredible; the potato one was surprisingly good! Jackfruit could be seasoned a bit more though. Nice and crispy tortillas for tapas, I loved it! They can improve in hospitality as staff didn't seem to be on the top of menu, orders or details such as replenishing water jugs or placing cups/cutlery on the table.

Delicious authentic mexican food. One of the best i've had so far. I tried several dishes from their menu, and each one was so tasty. The chef gave us a complimentary dessert - creme brulee which was out of this world! I will definitely come here again when I visit Sydney!

The foods were good! Worth a try! I had 3 tacos and sweet corn creme brûlée. I loved the sweet corn brûlée sooo much that I had 2 on that day and I came back the next day for it. Come on Tuesdays for cheaper price of tacos!

Sensational!! So glad we found this gem. All vegan. Authentic Mexican. Delicious, friendly, vibey, welcoming. We were planning our next time while we were there. Definitely book ahead. Honestly paying 18$ for 3 mini birria tacos bite, this is a joke? This not even a proper or original birria taco with the taco dipped in the sauce! It's dry the taste is very deceiving. Never again or at least their "birria tacos"...

Delicious vegan mex food! Wow! So tasty. Fast service and reasonably priced. Went there on a Tuesday night and they had 3 tacos for $10. Miso eggplant was definitely the favourite. Definitely will return!

Aside from the tables being a bit too close to each other, a very good atmosphere with great decor. The fable tacos were things in fables and the corn tortillas were exceptional. Would recommend for a date, a friendly gathering or a family night out.

There are so many varieties of taco filling available. We had tried almost all the type, my favorite being the potato one. The tortilla was also very soft and nice. Nachos were flavourful and crisp.

We popped in without a reservation and sat at a bar. The place is popular, so loud. The tables aren't on top of each other, so it feel intimate. Decor is industrial, practical and hard wearing, definitely a reflection of Mexico. Shared the following Nachos w/ House Cheddar Cheese, Black Beans, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole & Cashew Cream. A lot of flavour, yet light. Had the cheese on the side which they accommodated; it was a smokey, melted "cheese". BH Cauliflower w/ Oregano-Paprika Salt, Cashew Crema, Salsa Verde, Coriander & Onion (served w/ Corn Tortillas) DIY tacos, the cauliflower was the best way I have eaten cauliflower, ever. Choose your own ratios, with the ingredients served separately. We kept eating past the point of fullness, a sign of great food. To drink, we had; CLASSICO (OG Margie BH style) ALTOS BLANCO, TRIPLE SEC, AGAVE & CITRUS ESPRESSO MARTINEZ C23 REPOSADO, MOCHA, CORN LIQUEUR & SINGLE’O ESPRESSO The only criticism of the margarita is that it was made as they are supposed to be, and not with the *ahem* overly generous pour of tequila we have become used to at home 😉 This was the first espresso martini I have had, as they aren't usually vegan. It was smooth and flavourful and I can understand the addiction. The team were friendly and attentive. Accessibility-the door is a 920 glass push door. It opens to approximately 110°. There is a small lip in front of the door as the street is sloped. The tables are low (may impinge chair arms) and seating at tables is stools or metal chairs.

Accidentally made my dinner reservation for the wrong time and turned up 2 hours later however the staff were really accommodating and were able to seat us at the bar. Ordered a few different items and while it was all really tasty (and came out really fast especially considering how full the restaurant was!), the standout dishes were the potato tacos and the eggplant pineapple tacos. Will definitely return!

I read the reviews already submitted - and must admit the one stars & the five stars seem to have gone to different restaurants !! We were a group of four - the food came quickly - and it was delicious - we were not rushed - we ordered more and they were very accommodating. The drinks came on time and the sequence of servings from entre to desert was just perfect. The atmosphere are OK - and the music was not loud. Maybe they looked at the one stars and did a full successful business process re-engineering, because our experience from each one of us was a top experience. Highly recommended. Certainly going back their again - and soon.

The food was delicious! If you're a meat eater and looking for something in the vegan sphere that will capture your taste buds, then this is it. Amazing flavours. The cauliflower share plate was a highly recommend dish and I wasn't disappointed when arrived. It's slightly more expensive than I would have expected, given the size of the meals. You'll have to order quite a bit of food if you're hungry, and those small plates can really add up quickly. The service was super fast. Bookings are definitely a must as the restaurant is small and they fill up on weekends especially. There are also communal tables, so if you're a bit stressed out by eating with randoms then maybe request a seperate table?

Best Mexican I’ve eaten and came not knowing it was a vegan restaurant. Check it out. Great food and cocktails.

Nice moody dark atmosphere with open kitchen. Good service. Eggplant shared dish was the highlight with its crispy texture and went well with their corn tortillas. Nachos was also great. Desserts were the only part that didn't hit the same spot as the other dishes. I'd go back just for the food and skip the desserts.

love love love the food!!! This place proves that food can taste super delicious even without meat! Plus, no meat is good for the environment. Been here twice already and will be going back for more. Highly recommend it! Make sure to book as it is always busy.

I can't get this place out of my head! This is an absolute must try if you're in Sydney. Bad Hombres is a vegan Mexican restaurant, and boy does it make up for its lack of meat in flavour. The nachos haunts my dreams as one of my all time favourite meals available in Sydney. That sauce is incredible. The tacos are super fun and a taste adventure. One of them is like a punch I'm the face of spice which will hurt you the next day. An absolute taste explosion. Beyond savoury food, they also offer a creme brulee and a rice pudding. Both very creamy coconut flavours which do not disappoint. In addition to the above, it's one of the only restaurants in Sydney that is completely nut free and dairy free. One of the only places where my partner can eat everything on the menu without a worry of dying. These guys do not disappoint. Definitely book ahead of time, because this place is packed out with a line every night that I've been.

Friendly staff, good food. Not a vast menu, but what is on offer is delicious, very good value (quite cheap) and healthy eating. Nice atmosphere and very relaxed. If only I lived close to this restaurant.

Awesome food, ambience and staff. It's hard to find authentic Mexican joints in Australia. This joint ticks all the right boxes. I will surely visit them again when I am in the neighbourhood.

The best restaurant I have ever been to, vegan or otherwise. Mouthwatering presentation, delicious food, and the portions are large. I would actually recommend either getting a few entrees/dessert OR only mains/dessert because it's very filling. Otherwise, bring a container for yummy leftovers!

Very very average. Had high hopes and had been wanting to try for ages but left disappointed. Overall poor dining experience. Starters came out after the mains, drinks didn’t arrive to our table until after we’d finished eating and we had to get up and chase for these. We wanted to order some more food but the staff didn’t come over once and when they did they barely spoke a word to us. Tacos were falling apart. Dessert was absolutely shocking. No effort or love gone into it. Way better vegan Mexican restaurants across Sydney. Don’t waste your money here.

Good food and drinks, a few more options on the menu would be good. We enjoyed sharing some dishes and they were happy to change the quantities so we could share 3 ways. Would recommend if you're trying to cater for vegan diets or if you want to try something new.

*In response to your reply - No that wasn't me. This place has amazing food with great flavour. The cauliflower was our favourite followed by nachos! Cocktails are hit and miss. I had one cocktail which was amazing, and another one I could barely drink. The customer service was great from one staff, however it was terrible from another staff. The staff who provided great service (I didn't get his name but he was the skinnier guy) thoroughly explained the food and drinks. He was patient, very friendly and polite. We loved his customer service! On the other hand, the other staff (slightly bigger male wearing a hat who seemed to be in charge) was rude, unfriendly, always wants to have the last word and seemed to be "staff is always right". On top of that, we requested for an ingredient not to be on the plate, but he insisted for us to not just touch it. I guess staff members would rather have food wastage and not bother to remove an ingredient for their own convenience. The food was amazing however due to our bad experience with customer service, that took over our experience which left us feeling disappointed.

I was really looking forward to this place but the food was bland and lacked seasoning. We had the eggplant, 3 tacos with different fillings and corn chips and guacamole and cocktails. It's a shame.

Not worth the expensive cost. Bland tasting food. Defiantly isn't anything like real Mexican food. Wouldn't order from here again. It was like eating cardboard & bland veggies.

Very poor vegetarian experience. Food was sloppy and disproportionately expensive for the quality and standard one would expect when paying $80 for nachos, a cauliflower main dish and a mushroom main dish. Bland, burnt, cold and a sloppy mess. Perhaps dining in might be a great experience but this was delivery and the pictures tell you everything. Picture 1 and picture 4 are supposed to be the same thing. Shameful.

My friend and I dined at Bad Hombres last night after work and thought it was a pretty decent restaurant. We made a booking for 5:30pm, however we didn't actually get inside/seated until about 5:40pm-ish (there were other people who entered before us so I assume it's due to the current COVID-19 social distancing measures in place unfortunately). The two F&B attendants (amiga Chilena y amigo Mexicano?) were friendly and provided a great service throughout the evening. However, there was one other worker whose name I didn't quite catch (I assume she is a supervisor/more experienced staff member) was a bit rude towards the end of our evening when it came to informing us to 'leave' 15 mins before our booking ends (1.5 max hours, again due to COVID-19) and when paying the bill. I felt the dining experience was rushed and we couldn't quite enjoy our dessert + second round of drinks - in fact, we didn't even get a chance to finish them. The food/ drinks on the other hand were AMAZING! Muchas gracias to the chef and the team! Would most likely visit again more regularly post COVID-19...

Delicious vegan food!

This place is nothing special. Nice vibe and great service but the food is quite average (maybe we didn’t order the correct items). I’d recommend trying it out once as vegan Mexican can be hard to come by however I probably won’t be back. Thank you!

What an amazing place to eat! I didn’t know vegan food could be so delicious. The Peruvian style “lomo saltado” had a very authentic taste and the oyster mushrooms (the “lomo”) gave this dish the right texture. I also tried the cauliflower and it was delicious, very intense in flavour and went perfect with the tortillas. Can’t wait to eat at Bad Hombres again.

What a fantastic little joint! Make a booking on the weekend so you don't miss you! Luckily my partner and I crawled in at the perfect time and they were able to squeeze us in! Food came out extremely quickly and was very tasty! We will definitely be back!

Food was amazing! I'm not a vegan, but totally enjoyed the food. Small, cozy place great service and friendly staff. Margaritas are awesome. We ordered about 75% of the menu and shared between 7 of us. Even with many margaritas the price was reasonable

I'm not vegan but I'm all up for more vegan restaurants, they typically provide inventive and tasty options. In this case however, that's not true. In an effort to add flavour to what was pretty bland food, they've tripled the amount of salt and included a lot of raw onion. The cauliflower, which apparently is their signature dish, was so salty it was pretty much inedible. All the other dishes basically tasted the same. The staff were fairly disinterested and when we asked why the whole place was 40C+ they just shrugged and said there wasn't anything they could do about it. Finally, the toilets were also filthy which made me wonder what state the kitchen was in. So with the combination of a week's worth of salt intake, extreme heat, average staff and dirty toilets, it made for a pretty unpleasant experience.

Was really apprehensive about going to a plant based restaurant really didn’t know what to expect - well it did not disappoint!! Food was absolutely amazing the flavours were like nothing I’ve ever experienced before 10/10 would recommend.

If you ever hear anyone say vegan food doesn’t taste good, take them here to shut them up.

I love Mexican food but vegan Mexican food is too much!??

Initial impressions were positive , atmosphere was good and we were excited to eat an all vegan Mexican joint. But unfortunately the experience didn't impress much We ordered the nachos, two tacos and the vegan Chilli con carne. In summary the meal was unsatisfying. The nachos were recommended by our server, but they felt like something that could be found at your mates place. The cheddar cheese mentioned on the menu ended up being a sauce and was not enough. The chilli was decent and they did well to make up for the lack of meat but the taste was practically the same as the nachos. Tacos were good but small and a bit pricey. (the other meal portions were massive) The drinks menu was limited and expensive, with no option to get the basics such as gin and tonic. The staff were busy but also very friendly and accommodating. In the context of all that Surry Hills has to offer in dining, bad hombres for me was not an experience worth seeking, but it won't leave you regretting your meal if you do end up there.

The food is good, won't say it is amazing. The service is ok. My boyfriend booked a table for two, and they placed us on a shared table. Not the best situation for a date, and was not notified they was no more table for 2 available

Incredible food. Whether your vegan or not, it’s absolutely delicious.

Would I go back? No. Food was fine along with the staff but manager (maybe owner) was pushy and his interaction with our large group was off putting. Don't tell us we have 30min to leave and don't tell us we can't have an extra plate! We were a big work group spending good coin so just let us enjoy our evening.

We had high hopes for Bad Hombres, unfortunately it just didn’t live up to them completely. The tacos were fine, but nothing special. The main we had which was the cauliflower was nice and filling and the dessert was the redeemer as it was delicious and didn’t scream corn. I would give this place another try and eat other dishes, but so far I wouldn’t recommend it. Also, staff were not brilliant, young hipster types so not terribly helpful but did their job.

Excellent food!

Delicious! We had some nachos and eggplant bites that were so good. Amazing sauce, flavours and texture. Great for an after work dinner. The staff fit us in as well even though it was busy and we didn't have a booking on a Friday. Would reccomend booking for busy times. The rice pudding was also delicious.

This place was great, went for a birthday so there were lots of us. The sharing menu was enough for everyone and the atmosphere was great. Only downside were really dirty bathrooms.

This was a superb evening at a superb restaurant...the Manager Jose greeted us personally and then ran through the menu and the ethos behind Bad Hombres....the food was sublime and so well presented and great for a group of friends sharing delicious plant-based Mexican food. Loving the fact that everything is vegan, but it's all about the taste; the ingredients and the service. The wine is equally delicious (and vegan) together with an excellent range of cocktails. Bad Hombres is conveniently located, a short walk from Central Station and you are guaranteed a warm welcome there. Ambiance; decor and vibe are all great and I would thoroughly recommend, if you are visiting Sydney, a reservation at this restaurant. Well done to Jose and the F & B Team - a really lovely way to end our first trip to Australia - as and when we're back - we'll be back for sure.
