I have been here twice when it was open. It’s very tight inside so this presents a huge problem with Covid because it’s impossible to social distance. But I have to tell everyone when it is open again it’s a must do! This building is totally untouched from the 1800s. The Rocks was the first suburb in Australia and this place is fine example of what life was like living here. The guide was great and answered many of my questions. In summer it can get very stuffy in here so cooler days would be better. Sadly you are not allowed to take any photos.

Beautiful little row of houses part of the Sydney Living Museums group. The tour showcases the lives and living conditions of some families that subsided in each of the cottages. Much of the houses still remains intact and largely un-restored, in contrast to other museums from this era that are typically painstakingly restored. This isn't necessarily a bad or good thing, but offers a glimpse into the past in a different way. Thank God we kept these buildings and didn't knock them over for boring high density dwellings.

A visit to Susannah Place is a must-do during a visit in Sydney and exploring the Rocks and the interesting history that comes with it. Our tour was very interesting and takes you back in time with the stories of the residents of Susannah Place. Would definitely recommend it!

Built in 1844, Susannah place is a well preserved home providing insight into what life was like during this era. Really makes you appreciate the modern ammenities we have today. Tours run frequently, lasting about 1 hour and are free! Came on a weekday and there were about 6 others on our tour. Tour guide was passionate!

A great way to experience old-time-Sydney. I was a bit dissapointed by how much of the building was in an advanced state of decay, the ceilling falling down etc. This doesn't make the tour any less interesting though.

Highly recommend this museum (which is included in the affordable Sydney Museum Pass) for anybody interested in how Sydneysiders used to go about their lives at The Rocks in the past. The staff who gave us the tour was extremely knowledgeable and nice, and I learned very much and got much more interested in the history of Sydney. The tour was basically a tour of multiple actual living quarters of people who used to live at this museum before it became a museum, which I found very insightful. Definitely worth the trip!

If you're interested in the history of Sydney then this is a good spot to take a free tour. Our tour guide Virginia was lovely, informative and helpful. It was nice to learn the personal history of the previous tenants of this building.

To visit this historical landmark of The Rocks I recommend booking ahead. In fact you can only see Suzannah's place if you book a tour via the website or on-site as only a few visitors are allowed at one time due to the size of the housing. But you won't regret it as your guide will tell you the stories of the many residents who once lived there, since Suzannah's mum Mary built it in 1844, as well as the improvements brought to these houses over the years. The kids loved the old appliances and the anecdotes!

A really nice little museum. Gives you a great feel for life on the Rocks back in the day. Our guide was charming and very informative. It's just a little sad, that so few heritage houses in this neighborhood remain - chiefly due to the Plague of 1901, which meant that many houses were raised due to infection and insanitary conditions (I had no idea, that the Plague was still around in 1901!!), and overzealous town planners in the 1970's. What remains is well worth visiting.

Susannah Place Museum is about the lives of the working class of old Sydney. The terraces which make up the museum were preserved in the original conditions and not touched up. Here, we had a glimpse of the everyday lives of ordinary folk, their activities and how children played. It was more relatable (to me) than the beautiful grand houses. Note that you need to follow the guided tour if you want to enter the terraces. Our guide was Jehan, who turned the museum alive with her amazing storytelling skills.

A great way to get an understanding of the last 150 years in Sydney from a working class perspective. These 4 terrace houses built in 1844 have a long and varied history which the Living Museums group have researched and uncovered in amazing detail. Travelling between the four houses as part of a guided tour (you cannot view the properties outwith a tour, so book ahead) you are given insight into each of the major time periods the properties were occupied (late 1800s, early 1900s, mid-late 1900s). This insight comes primarily from accounts of those who lived there which are pieced together from various sources including their descendants and neighbours. The interiors are not restored (a choice made by the museum) to preserve the real history of the buildings. They are cared for and made safe but left, as much as possible, since being left vacant in 1989. Our tour was given by Russell who was fantastic, charismatic and cheekily funny. Perfectly pitched for the group and the material he was delivering. He and the museum brought to life the story of working class Sydney over the last 150 years. Brilliant!

The 4 Victorian terraced properties have not been restored since the last tenants left in 1990,it would be god if the local council could invest in their cities Heritage. Worth a visit.

Compact, interesting little museum focused on the history of tenement life in The Rocks. It's guided-tour-only, I guess mostly due to the delicateness of the exhibits and the structure itself. You get a nice interactive walk through a bunch of rooms of this old tenement building, which was apparently continuously inhabited right through the mid 1990s (!). The various rooms are staged as they might have appeared during different eras - mainly the 1840s, 1930s, and 1950s - with "scenes" from life and so on. I found the guide extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and she was only too happy to take me on a tour even though I was the only person present. At the end there's a gift shop full of old-timey Australiana, like unfashionable sweets and obsolete kitchenware. All in all, this museum is well worth the time if you're interested in the history of how people (especially newly-arrived immigrants) used to live in Sydney; if that topic doesn't interest you it's probably best to give it a miss. It's worth noting that this museum is part of the "museum pass" one can get for Sydney museums, which makes it an excellent value if you already have the pass.

(Translated by Google) Very rich history museum in the city of Sydney. It shows a home from the beginning of the last century, and its evolution over time. It was possible to reconstruct the objects and habits of the population over the decades. Very interesting, for example, the evolution of the sanitary system, and the bathrooms of the houses. Another curious aspect, an ice storage box. Well worth the visit. The capacity is limited, so it is important to check the schedules and arrive in advance. The tours are guided in English, and the guides are super friendly. (Original) Museu riquíssimo em história da cidade de Sydney. My family and I recently visited the Susannah Place Museum and we all loved it! Here you are taken on a guided tour through a few terraces in the rocks. The rooms are set up as they once were and the guide tells you all about the families that once lived there. I highly recommend you book a tour with Susannah Place - even my 8 yo loved it. Don't forget to visit the store as well which is set up like an old corner store and even sells items you'd expect to find many decades ago.
