Second time I have been to Marquee. Place may be looks nice , but that's about it. Because I was on my phone before entering the dance floor a rude security man pulled me to the side and accused me of being drunk ( I was tipsy, but nowhere near drunk). Almost looked like they were looking for a victim not to let someone in, so it looks like they do their job. I requested to see the manager , to which he said I will regret. At least the manager was sensible, and after answering all of his questions he let me in. Ridiculous and degrading on so many levels. Such a humiliating experience ! Not once in my life have I experienced anything like this. The music was repetitive and dull. We decided to leave not thinking twice. With a few people decided to go back to Side club, where the music and vibes were just awesome. Cheers

Horrible queueing experience. First of all, we queued a total of four times before entering the club. If you prebuy the ticket, make sure you're in the right line once you entered the casino. There's not enough signage so we were queueing on the third line up till we got to the front when someone asked us for a stamp we should've gotten from the second line. Maddening. Inside the club it was small, but pretty nice ventilation. Blowers in front helped keep the temp low and bouncers are handing of free bottled water like candy. Gotta stay hydrated!

We had a VIP table which guarantees express entry yet we still had to wait in the long line. Aswell as this we paid $2500 for 3 bottles what an absolute rip off and terrible service. Our friends who were over 18 who had every necessary form of ID were not allowed in for absolutely no reason. Overall 0/10 experience would not recommend. This club should be ashamed of themselves

Iโ€™ve been to clubs in 30+ countries and i finally found the worst club to go to. Iโ€™m actually not even going to waste my time expressing how bad it was. All i gotta say is it was overly expensive to get nothing in return. Although the music was great, the credit goes to the DJ not the club. If you are looking to have a good drinks and a fun time, Iโ€™d look elsewhere. Going to have to find a good club to change my mind about Sydney.

Pre-purchased a ticket for Knockout after party last Sunday worth $100. Got kicked out from the line because of the shoes I was wearing (Tn's). The lady said management decided on the day that those shoes weren't allowed. Went back to my hotel and changed shoes and when I got back to the club, they said the club was at full capacity. Had to wait for an hour to get in and the main dj had 10 minutes left to play. What's annoying was I saw people inside wearing the same shoes as I had. Overall, this place has atrocious management. They oversold their tickets at the door. What's the point of pre-purchasing tickets if you can't even get in? I would give this place 0 star if I could. I'm glad this trash place is closing.

The bouncer (from arab background)at the entrance was terrible and racist. He was accusing us for being too drunk (we has 2 glasses of wine) but let his friends who was clearly loud and drunker than us in easily, than he was trying to calls the security to take us away. This the most embarrassing thing Iโ€™ve experienced.

SCAMMERS!!!!!! Definitely the worst club Iโ€™ve been to, probably the worst in Australia. They wanted me to pay $80 to get in but I talk to them for a bit and they put it down to $60 still very expensive. After staying there with my Girlfriend for 1 hour we went to sit down behind the drink/bar area, and one of the security guards told us that we look to โ€œintoxicatedโ€ to be here, even tho I only had 2 drinks, then he asked one of his mates to get us out and not let us back in. Drinks are extremely overpriced and boyy donโ€™t get me started on the songs ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ Such scammers they want to charge you so much to get in and then make up excuse and kick you out of the club.

Went there last week. Impossible to find, asked several staff in the casino where it was and nobody would tell me the same answer. No signs for line up for pre bought tickets. Very expensive drinks. Very few cubicles. They treat you like a criminal before you enter the club. They dilite shots and drinks are very expensive. I was there for four hours and every minute I was like "this js the worst club ive ever been to in my life". Do not go here.

Where do I start!! I pre purchased tickets for an event and still arrived with my friends at 7pm to be turned away by the bouncers because the Club was already full. Upon telling the bouncer I have tickets he responded that does not guarantee entry into the venue if we meet capacity and I could arrange a refund with the ticket seller. Once being turned away because the club is full. It was clear general admission "VIPs" which were just women were still allowed to purchase tickets on the spot and enter. Upon asking the event manager why they are allowed in her response was to keep the "ratio" of the venue more appropriate for guests to be interested despite pre paying?? I felt that night I was scammed and after discussing with my mates it's a well known fact Marquee is just a rip off.

If I could rate this club 0 stars I would. It was the most frustrating experience and biggest waste of my night and months spent organising this very night. Me and my 30 friends were refused entry on my birthday after planning a birthday event here for months. This was my first time at Marquee and definitely the last. It doesn't deserve to have the hype that it has online and people should not be wasting their money or time and effort towards having an 'enjoyable' night here. I spent at least a month emailing and communicating with lady who works at Marquee and organising my birthday package with her. I had 30 friends joining me and she said that I needed to secure my guest list and get tickets by a specific date in order for my package to work out. So I did that and when the night came along, my friends and I were super keen. We had planned to get into this club, enjoy this complimentary birthday package I had planned and have an enjoyable night because this club had seemed so fun. We waited excitedly all night until 10:30 when we were told to go to the entrance. After getting into the star, I had to find a security guard and ask him where to go for birthday packages because the lady had told me that my group had received express entry into the club because of the package. He was nice and told me where to line up. The lady that then greeted me and my group at the line was so rude, giving so much attitude and acting like she'd rather be anywhere else but here right now. We gave her our tickets and she scanned them as if it was so hard for her to do. THEN, a security guard came to our group and started checking our IDs again in which he was also being disrespectful. He let a few of my friends in and then when it got to me he told me he didn't believe my ID was real and he asked for another form. I gave him another form and they matched up and he didn't say anything. Then I simply said, "see they're the same" in the calmest voice, in which he replied with "I don't like you, go home"and he closed the barrier between him and my group and he walked away. After standing there for a while confused and angry, we were greeted by two other security guards who told us that they have been asked to escort us from the building. It was ridiculous... they literally decided not to let us in because this one guy didnt "like" me or my group. He had no valid reason, and even when I explained the situation to the guards who escorted us out, they also agreed it was unfair. But they had to escort us out because it's their job to do that if they're asked. We spent weeks preparing for our night at Marquee just to be turned down for no reason. We were really disappointed and angry as we had spent so much effort and time trying to get our whole group together to make this birthday package happen. I ended up walking through Darling Harbour and after telling an event manager standing outside another club what had happened, he allowed me and my friends free entry into their club and I even got a birthday celebration! What's even better is that he told me that it's not the first time he's heard negative stories like that about Marquee. I ended up having a great night at that club which was good. It's just stupid that there are so many negative reviews about the club about the same issues. They need to get the hint and get understand that their employee are terrible at their job and they need better bouncers and security guards that aren't so rude and that ruin people's nights. People spend ages planning events at this club and spend heaps of money in this club just to get told they can't get in or they are getting kicked out. This place is not special. I waited so long and got myself so keen just to be told to go home. So disappointing. If Marquee wants to send people home because they simply 'don't like them' then they shouldn't be hosting anyone at all.

Attended marquee rwcently for the Maxim Hot100 Halloween party. Great atmosphere, many photobooth opportunities and I loved the dj they had on (one of the regulars at marquee). Great music, by the end of the event they sent us to the other side of marquee which was going off until about 2am! Greta vibes and atmosphere, we were in the Seated area so if you're not prepared for dancing then make sure you book a table so you can sit down. Would definitely return for clubbing nights!

Wow what a headache just entering the venue multiple security checkpoints and queues. Once your in enjoy nearly $20 basic drinks and no seats unless you have a booth. Venue looked lux and modern and music was hit and miss. Smoking deck is nice for a breath of fresh air

Even with arriving early and with tickets to an event, we still had to line up for 1.5 hours! There was no clear reason why the lines took so long and we were often standing still for periods at a time. The bouncers couldnโ€™t answer when we asked why we had to line up for so long with tickets. Half of our group ended up leaving before the headliner came on as the atmosphere was ruined. Not worth it at all.

I first visited Marquee when I was travelling last year. Me and some friends from my hostel got tickets to a Friday night at Zoo and we were so happy to finally find some good R&B in Sydney! The place was packed and we danced until security told us the club was closing. It was such a fun night! Back in Sydney for two weeks on a holiday I said to my friends we had to get back to Marquee. We heard that the Sunset Bros were playing on Saturday and managed to get some of the last tickets. I can honestly say it was even better than the first time and my friends absolutely loved it. The set was amazing and the room went crazy. We managed to book a VIP table for my friends birthday and the service from all the staff, from the waitress who served on our table, to the guys that kept our table stocked, and even to the guy in the bathroom selling lollies, it couldnโ€™t have been any better! Everyone just wanted to have a good time with us! We only have one weekend left in Sydney and we will certainly be returning this weekend for our last night. Thank you Marquee for giving us another night to remember. I only wish we had a Marquee in England too!

Marquee Sydney was meant to host โ€œFestival Xโ€ after party but we are extremely disappointed with the management as theyโ€™ve informed us to wait for 15 mins and weโ€™d be able to buy entry tickets. However, the management decided not to let us in - due to some โ€œaccidentsโ€ & they even lied to us saying the club was shut (when my friend was actually in Marquee and told us nothing was happening inside). We travelled from other countries to experience this but was turned down by the management for no specific reason! Really disappointing in this poor decision as we were willing to pay for door entries and drinks etc. If Marquee was unable to accommodate more people from the festival, then donโ€™t even bother hosting any after parties. Makes no sense.

After paying for a table, we waited 20 minutes, were questioned incessantly for ID, and THEN dress code was enforced. Not before paying for a table and drinks. When asked how ridiculous that was, doorman doubled down and booted us from the line. I've travelled all over the world and this place is hardly special. Hard pass on this, you can have a comparable experience anywhere. Feel free to skip this and enjoy the casino instead.

Expensive entry $60 per person, very small stage. No setting area and the music was dull and repetitive to dance at. Positive 1 star because of nice light show. Don't be fooled with name go elsewhere where its cheap and you can spend your money on drinks/food.

Very over priced and overrated. My mates and I made a quick decision to go to Marquees because we always heard it was good; we were very excited. However, the first disappointing thing was after lining up for about 20 minutes, we were told the price to enter was $60. It would be better if you had screens up that showed the prices on that night, as well as on your website. We still went in because we thought it must be that good and worth the money. However we got disappointed again that there were no seats whatsoever, unless it was a VIP booking.. We wanted to put our stuff in a locker, turns out $6 for EACH ITEM! Fourth disappointment was the music. It wasnโ€™t something that made everyone dance hard. I do commend that the place was kept very safe and made sure everyoneโ€™s behaviour was at high standard, and the light show was really cool

I was treated unfairly and was disrespected by the front of house staff at Marquee. I have recently had a knee reconstruction and required to wear a knee brace. I rang prior to visiting Marquee and explained my situation and they said that they would be able to accommodate me. Upon arrival I completely frowned upon due to having a knee brace and joggers. I was informed that there was a strict dress code and that I would not be permitted entry. However I explained that I called that morning and was assured that this would be not be a problem. I tried my best to explain the situation yet David the head of security completed disregard me and continued to belittle me in every way possible he then had the nerve to start pushing me so I tried to take a picture of his ID to which he continued to push me and cover it up this is a complete disgrace from an establisment that prides itโ€™s self in being the best. Politeness can go a long away itโ€™s just a huge shame that this security team lead by David clearly falls below the level one would expect from a coustomer using The Star. I am again greatly disappointed that I am still waiting for them to get back to me which is a huge shame from a 5 star establishment. I personally would encourage anyone who has a disability to stay well away as they clearly do not respect this at all, I think it would be a good idea for David to read the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 before he returns to work.

Marquee's horrible security alone makes going to this club not worth it. My friend, my boyfriend, and I were refused entry to Marquee on Halloween, after waiting in line for more than an hour. When we finally made it to the front, we were taken aside and asked how many drinks we'd had. My friend and I both had 2 drinks each and told the security guard the number, but he responded with "No, I know you've had more...", which clearly wasn't the case. My boyfriend doesn't drink and security then said they thought we were too drunk because my head was on his shoulder and I was holding him in line. Maybe they haven't seen how couples act before? Either way, our night was ruined and we will never be coming back.

OMG what a below average experience! Going through multiple levels of security made me think it must be a great nightclub. The DJ had 000 DJโ€™ing skills (IMO), played 10 seconds of a famous track and added (loud) noise to it. Bright lights on your face every 30 seconds. To top it all off, you have to pay to sit down!

The worst club in Sydney. We had the presale tickets but we stood behind a line of 500 people to get in for the Halloween event. 2 hours later, we werenโ€™t even half way ahead and thatโ€™s when we decided to go back home. Very successfully split our Halloween! It makes sense that they are shutting down in a month and they donโ€™t care about anything anymore!

The worst experience ever!!! ๐Ÿ˜ก 1. I waited for 2hours and half to finally got inside! 2. No organiser on floor controls people who cut the queue! 3. The securities let โ€œVIP peopleโ€ cut the line all the time (Please at least make another entry door to look professional) (Corruption here!) 4. Inside NO CHAIR for โ€œNON VIP peopleโ€ (โ€œOpen tableโ€ people only can sit down) TIPS! - DONโ€™T pre-book your ticket! (If you do, they got your money anyway so they donโ€™t care if you are in or not) - They priorities people who has no ticket. - Must see and visit the the toilet inside. I love it! (They got the best and the cleanest TOILET in any Club that I have ever experienced!) ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก

The worst nightclub I've ever set foot in. The queueing experience was so horrifically convoluted and long that I felt I was entering a CIA outpost. The DJs were horrific, the atmosphere was dead, and for some reason, everyone was 50 years old. Thank God they're shutting down.

Not only is this unfair, it is also extremely childish, i'm sure this indian girl is old enough not to let your personal problems from years back get involved with work.

Awful experience on the night James Hype was performing. Inconsistent rules for entry and identification among patrons on the same night, speaking to the same employees. Arrived as a 7 person group and all but one were granted entry. The treatment of the one who was denied entry was so poor we all decided to leave before spending any time or money at the venue. Could have been handled in a much more respectful and professional manner.

Most disgusting venue to go to an event. The place is way over staffed with security jt has a foul vibe. There are 4 or 5 security guards running the toilets, directing people, shining torches everywhere, banging on all the toilet cubicle doors to hurry people up. Itโ€™s like a military options. Very very uncomfortable. Donโ€™t come to an event here. Itโ€™s not fun.

Worst he club I've ever been to in Sydney most overrated place takes 1 hour waiting in line to get in past 3 diffrent check points once finally in the club was so small and areas had no room to walk people were literley walking on each other and pushing each other to get thru. There are no seating areas to relax and socialize the drinks were way over priced $46 for two standard drinks tickets were $70 each biggest ripoff of a club I was in there for 1 hour then left that's how rubbish it was never again. Also not to mention the security are looking for every reason to kick you out as the place is so over crowded it's ridiculous what a joke

The 2nd DJ tonight g... was playing the same boring flat beat that you can't quite 'dance' to.. the first one was pretty fun :) - he had lots of variety and mixed it up. And it was way too loud... Uncomfortable loud.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LIKE HAVING NO SINGED SKIN! this is the star, if you don't know what a star is heres the definition star: a fixed luminous point in the night sky which is a large, remote incandescent body like the sun. (the sun is hot) so for this club to keep a dangerous object in its wall is insensitive and frankly a slap to the face, i went in and when I came out i was covered head to toe in scared skin

Went here to celebrate my birthday and to watch Dj Havana Brown. My friend, cousin and i were assaulted by the security guards. They kicked us out before Dj Havana Brown even came on. We were escorted outside the premises with police force. Security was very rude and rough in the way they handle people. Would not go back to this place as they are ridiculous.

It was my first time here and because we arrived early, the queue and the escorting to upstairs were seamless. We had time to explore the venue before it got too crowded and managed to find 1 free seating area to rest on but other than that, there were no spare chairs or seats for non-VIPS. The venue was kept very cool and we were freezing at one point (this was not a problem when it got more crowded though). I liked that there are two separate sections and bars with different DJs on. Each side had different vibes and music. The dancefloor on the main side was too small especially when the VIP area takes so much space from the dance floor. We couldn't see the DJ at all as it was too packed in that area and the view was obscured unless you're in front of the pack (at that point, it was near impossible to even move around). Music from last night was great and I have never experienced the toilet system in clubs like here which I was very impressed as it helps keep the toilets clean and it was much more efficient. I went at least 5 times but never have to wait that long and they were all very clean! You don't miss out on the music when you're in there too! Smoking area was a bit disappointing especially when it is at the Star! Had no chairs for customers and some had to sit on the ground... Overall, it was a great night for me! I love the interior and toilets were well maintained. There were many bartenders to assist you and they were very accommodating.

Went here for an after party for Knockout Outdoor festival, which was hosting a couple of big name headliners. Paying close to $100 for a ticket a few days prior. I was let in on the night, after being pulled aside and asked how much I've had to drink, which was only a couple of drinks beforehand, pretty well spaced out, might I add. Inside the venue was quite nice, so I can't complain about that, however it was rather stuffy, so I've gone outside to get some fresh air and attend to an injury in a not so crowded small space. Upon leaving, a security guard pulled me aside and said that I was being denied re-entry because I was showing signs of intoxication, which I argued that I'd only had 1 or 2 drinks while being inside the venue, which at the time of being kicked out, was about an hour. The security guards were quite rude, unable to give me a proper reason as to why I'd been denied re-entry to an event I paid close to $100 to attend, other than "showing signs of intoxication", which leads me to believe they got their security licence from the back of a cereal box. Overall, I can see now why this place is closing down, and the "security guards" really live up to the stereotype of "not tonight mate", give someone a shred of power and they'll abuse it. Good thing they had this to fall back on, since they obviously never made it into the police force.
