The coffee here is fantastic and the owner Abdullah is always smiling and keen for a chat. Highly recommend! Such a lovely vibe inside too if you fancy sitting down.

Really disappointing and upsetting experience. I have been here about 5/6 times as it is convenient, and occasionally the 2 cafes in close proximity are closed- which are both much friendlier, welcoming, undiscriminating; and coffee is a though competition in Newtown, as there is good coffee everywhere. 2 stars given for the coffee only, The customer service there is really disappointing, unwelcoming and on the verge of being rude. Today I Also saw the place plastered in new signs saying "NO DOGS ALLOWED" I'm outrageously confused as to why you would open a cage in Newtown, and not allow dogs; furthermore, it has me wondering - why do these people hate dogs so much?, And why am I then allowed to bring my pet cat/snake/monkey; but not a dog? Myself, my friends, family, and colleagues etc.,- will never go back again.

The best cafe in Newtown!! Amazing coffee and positive vibes! Abdullah’s vision and story behind the coffee draws you in. The cafe is super chilled and has great community feel to it. Perfect place to unwind, study or work. Happy to have found this hidden gem on King St.

Tried out on a whim for the afternoon espresso fix, and we were very impressed! Espresso was perfect temperature and very well extracted. Very smooth, slight fruity acidity leaning more towards berry, and finishing cleanly on the palette. Always a good sign when I buy a bag of beans after trying the espresso. Will be back again!

Unpleasant experience. Owner is arrogant and rude. I did not even get to the coffee and left just experiencing his unpleasant behaviour. Not going to waste money at this place since Newtown is brimming with great cafes, preferably ones with much better customer service.

Was looking for a quick coffee and snack for breakfast. Stumbled upon this cafe. The vibe was sick and the owner was very friendly. Ordered scrambled eggs on toast and an iced long black. Fantastic, rich, smooth coffee and freshly made scrambled eggs. Little hidden gem in Newtown

Fantastic cup of coffee! Had their filter brew based on the owner's recommendation and it was fantastic. The coffee has a unique and distinct flavor to it. Definitely coming back here more often 😁

Amazing interior and atmosphere. Very clean, quirky and relaxing. The best coffee in Newtown. Delicious halal sandwich with a really nice sauce. The owner was very welcoming and very cool. Love his work and his energy. He should open in Tasmania 😉

Long black had crema and was very lovely however I asked for a small and received a larger size than I wanted and the cups have no proper handle. Coffee machine space was messy with grounds and washing up left out around, which can look homely but didn’t for me. Napkins were behind the counter out of reach and I wasn’t given one so I asked for one. I like to drink my coffee hot but had to sip it using the plate or it would burn my hands. Coffee I had today a natural Ethiopian and was much more similar to a dark roast campos coffee more bitter than to the berry and floral elements found in other specialty beans. Coffe itself was a 4/5 but the little things mentioned add up to how enjoyable the experience is when dining in. If you like espresso then this is a great place.

Good coffee shops attract people interested in coffee. The first coffee that i buy at Sydney was in there. After three months, i finally get know about this shop today. I don’t like strong coffee but the expresso here are so amazing that let me wants to try more. Just because i ask the owner how to make an americano, he is so nice and teach me patiently! (Imagine how patient it needs to teach a bad English person coffee in English🤦‍♂️)As well as the knowledge about Kenya coffee bean, coffee tree, way of process and roast…basically everything! Nice experience!!!

Nice atmosphere. Really welcoming staff / owner. The food menu is limited, but what they have is very fresh, delicious and has good presentation. Definitely a fan of their crunchy chicken sandwich (the hot sauce they serve with it is wonderful). Their coffee is really strong and tasty. Haven't yet tried their chai but they blend in house and it smells amazing. Would definitely recommend to hardcore coffee lovers.

The best coffee in Newton, aroma of the coffee beans will greet you the moment you walk in. Weekly updated specialty coffee is something to look forward too. Aesthetic interior, simple yet cozy, and friendly staff makes it perfect for meet-up and catch-up. Definitely recommend Ameru, excellent coffee and good vibe.

The best coffee in Newtown IMHO. However i need to take a star off as it's impossible to get a coffee quickly. Even rocking up with no other customers it can take a genuine 10 minutes. If they could work out the service side speed, I'd go three times a day, but I can't afford 20+minutes to get a coffee.

There is nothing like a perfect coffee in a relaxed environment with great music! Ameru Espresso Bar offers all this and more. The business supports fair trade with Kenyan farmers and is actively engaged in community work in Sydney and beyond. I wish I was a Newtown local so I could come here every day.
