Really nice Italian with some fancy menu items. Squid ink spaghetti with prawns was delicious! Friendly staff and although busy, we were not rushed out of our table. Some free parking around the side streets and on Marrickville Rd. Prices are on the higher end of average ($29 for pasta), and the card surcharge of 1.5% was a bit unnecessary.

Amazing experience at Semola with Chef Nello from Italy. Great food and service! Awesome pasta🤩 the best in Sydney! Chef Nello brought us back to Italy with all the great dishes he made. Very good care about all the ingredients! Such a great experience to be done soon again!

Wonderful little gem in Marrickville. I’ve had many pastas in Sydney and this place is high up there. The hand made pasta and shapes is what distinguishes it to an average Italian place. Id love to see more creations in the future.

Last minute Friday night booking but they managed to squeeze us in at 7.30pm. While we dined outside for our entree, they cleared a table for us inside for us to enjoy our mains. Both waiters were friendly and attentive, and they didn’t appear to be rushed even though it was only the two of them. Now let’s talk about the food: 👉Burrata salad (special) - refreshing, light and acidic. The creamy burrata was matched with crispy leaves. 👉Foccacia - unique airy texture and thinly sliced. Reminded me of sourdough? (Sorry y’all I ain’t no bread connoisseur 😂) 👉 Truffle tagolini - dinner special #1 - this dish smelt sooo amazingggg! I was literally inhaling the scent as other tables ordered this dish before us. Really creamy and rich coating every strand of pasta. I would highly recommend sharing this dish as opposed to getting it just for yourself. It’s much more enjoyable as a dish that you can go back and forth to. 👉 Roast duck - dinner special #2 - the roast duck had a crispy skin and meat was tender but slightly undercooked. The meat was lying in a pumpkin purée with gravy, green beans and purple carrots. Least favourite dish from the night. 👉 Bombolone Al Cioccolato- Nutella filled donut was warm and tasty. Very yummy with the vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and peanuts. 👉 Dessert special- Presentation was beautiful and tasted amazing too. The crunchy puff pastry between layers of dark chocolate ganache/ cream.. you could really taste the high quality of dark chocolate that was used (in contrast to the chocolate in the other dessert). The white powder tasted like sherbet? ? I do think the dish could do with less sour berries and cherries but that’s more of a personal preference. Other things to note: ⭐️ Please note that the restaurant is currently BYO and they do not have alcohol on their menu. However, there is a bottle shop along the same road and the waiter was kind enough to let us know. ⭐️ Unfortunately, it is a little loud dining inside the restaurant but on a warmer day, I would much prefer sitting outside. ⭐️ The portion sizes are on the smaller size (compared to other Italian restaurants), which means you can order a larger amount of dishes to try. However, this also means the total cost increases.. Overall, we highly enjoyed the experience as the food and service were pretty good.

Every time I eat anything from Semola, I am reminded that I need to write a 5 star review and today I am finally doing it. I’ve been enjoying scrumptious Italian dishes cooked by Aniello ever since he was working out of a ghost kitchen during the lockdown, serving up the most delicious homemade pillowy soft gnocchi (best I’ve ever had) and the yummo focaccia for residents in Alexandria. When I found out he was opening up a restaurant in Marrickville I was so excited and sad (as were the rest of the 2015 community I’m Sure). But thank god it’s only a 15 min car ride away! Prices are very reasonable for what you get and quality is incredible. I’ve only ever done takeaway but given that it tastes so good already I’m sure it would be even better fresh. Tip: if you love your pasta, make sure you grab a bag of the dry homemade pasta. It only takes 4 minutes to cook. I had some vegan/egg free spinach pasta and it went really well with my beef cheeks Ragu! Photos below are some of the past dishes I’ve had. Thanks Aniello and team!

Hidden gems in Sydney, Semola restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience with its amazing food and exceptional service. The standout feature of my visit was the truffle menu, which was perfect for sharing. Every dish was bursting with incredible flavors and the use of truffles elevated the culinary experience to new heights. The staff provided attentive and friendly service, ensuring that every need was met. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. I highly recommend Semola for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience with outstanding food and service.

Went to Semola for lunch on a Saturday and it was such an enjoyable experience. The homemade foccacia was delicious and went well with the cold cut prosciutto. The Octopus salad was well balanced in flavour and Squid ink pasta was cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and non-pretentious. Hidden gem and highly recommended.

The food and service at Semola is a fantastic experience. We had the pleasure of being served by Neil who provided excellent service and the kitchen provided delicious food. Special mentions to the crab languine and the rigatoni, once you have conquered the amazing burrata. Highly recommend.

Been here three times now and it’s delicious every time. Must try burrata and slow cooked veal for appetizer. My favorite pasta is the squid ink spaghetti. Also have to end with the tiramisu. Super creamy but light!

A quaint and delicious Italian gem in Marrickville! We came here for my brother's birthday and had great service and food. Loved the al-dentre textures of the pastas, our favourite was the nero spaghetti! Arancinis are a MUST as well as the meatballs. The burratta special was really well-balanced and delicious - had better foccacia elsewhere though. My family found the pasta a little salty for their liking, but I thought it was okay. I guess each to their own salt preferences? I also took home their house made pastas and cooked up some dishes myself. SO DELICIOUS! With prices these days, I found the dishes quite affordable. A slightly elevated experience to share with loved ones.

A hidden gem in Marickville. Classic, delicious authentic italian food with a carefully curated menu by none other than the chef and owner, Aniello! I had the privilege of working with chef Aniello in the past and knowing how dedicated and passionate he is with delivering great quality food, it is no doubt that Semola will live up to his reputation. Can’t wait to dine in again!

We had a wonderful dinner with friends at Semola. We were seated outside but the complimentary blankets and heaters kept us perfectly warm. It was lovely to see a bit of life on Marrickville Road after dark. Without question, the highlights of the meal were the entrees. The Vitello was perfection, so soft with little crunches from the caper berries and walnuts and the punch of parmesan and truffle mayo. I haven't eaten veal in almost twenty years but this was worth making an exception. The Tagliere di Salumi was fantastic with the little nub Nduja being the best thing on the platter. For mains we ate the Pappardelle ai Funghi e Tartufo, the Spaghetti with prawns; and the duck confit special. All were excellent. Desserts were affogatos (always good) and the panna cotta special was so delicious it really should be part of the menu permanently. Service was friendly and helpful and the entire experience was memorable. We will definitely be back.

Good local Italian food - the slow cooked veal starter is a winner. Pasta is well made & cooked but you don’t get as much as you’d think for the price. Make sure you sit indoors, sitting outdoors in cold weather with the heater and street foot traffic isn’t ideal and definitely detracts from the experience.

Great experience! I’ve been at Semola Restaurant few days ago with my partner for my birthday night and the food was amazing! The service and atmosphere were nice too, big selection of pasta, antipasti and desserts. We will go back for sure!

Pasta are great and really delicious. Good serving sizes. Staff are friendly. We sat outside which unlike in the city, was right by the main road on Marrickville Road so there was a lot of street noise to contend with.

The Consistency of the Gnocchi was 'perfetta'! I even asked for a change of sauce and they happily did it. Basically, because the 'Salsiccia Ragu' is the embrace of every 'super nonna' from the South of Italy! If you are unable to appreciate culinary authenticity, then you should go to the pub up the road. Grazie allo Chef Vincenzo per questo sappore di casa!

Had dinner in Semola last night, food was delicious and I just forgot to take more pictures. The wine menu is also amazing and the friendly staff made a perfect night. So far the best Italian restaurant I’ve tried in Sydney. I will definitely come back!

Went there for dinner with my friends last night because I am Italian, and I had heard that the chef there makes fresh pastas and he is from my same region! I was pleasantly surprised as not only the food was authentic and delicious, but also the service and the atmosphere were great! I will 100% go back! Highly recommend! Thank you Annalisa & Stuart

Beautiful restaurant and friendly staff. They managed to squeeze our group in without a booking on the weekend so food came out a bit messy understandably. They needed us out in an hour, we said ok as long as the food is quick (took about 35 minutes for all of the food). Best was the entrée with tuna and the poached pear dessert. Main dishes were more on the bland side.

What an excellent spot! If you’re looking for some of Sydney’s best pasta, Semola is the spot. Service isn’t usually a top priority for restaurants in Australia, but my goodness, the team at Semola knocked it out. They were outstanding. Looking forward to coming back.
