I booked the family room as we had my mother in law with us. The room was fine except one huge issue that means I will never consider this hotel again. Some bright spark decided that instead of walls on the bathroom they'll use translucent glass. Not ideal when you can see the silhouette of your mother in law taking a shower or sitting on the toilet (not exaggerating). Oh, and instead having a normal door on the bathroom like humans have been doing for centuries, again they have translucent glass with a big gap at the sides and bottom. You can be sitting on the toilet while looking your mother in law in the eye, not something I'd recommend. Also having a large gap around the door means that everyone in the whole room can hear and smell what's going on in the bathroom. And who needs a lock on the bathroom door? Not holiday Inn guests apparently. Need to go to the toilet in the middle of the night? Well, that's a family affair as the whole family will be woken up by this event. If you turn the light on in the bathroom it lights up the entire room like a floodlight on the Sydney cricket ground. Why does it light up the whole room? Because some clever architect thought that building a bathroom out of glass was a good idea. It isn't. This appears to be a thing these days. I stayed at the Pullman hotel a few years back and they must have used the same architect. They also suffer from glass bathroom syndrome. Unfortunately now The Holiday inn is now permanently off my hotel options along with the Pullman.

We had a very bad experience with a Taxi Driver who took us on a joyride and dumped us the wrong Holiday inn. Not good after returning from an international mission. Anyway we were stress and as soon as we arrived we were met by the staff who were amazingly understanding. They upgraded our room and they gave us info on food options and layout of the hotel. All at 11:30pm. Now the rooms. For an express hotel, absolutely brilliant. One of the most pleasing room environments I have been in. A great selection of pillows. Clean, very clean. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Cooked with care. Location is walking distance to domestic airport. Will stay again even when not on transit. Priced below other inferior hotels in the area. Great job. Thank you.

Great location, this hotel is within walking distance to the domestic terminal. The room was perfect for a long layover. Just need a place to drop your bags and explore. The room was well appointed and clean. And they had blackout curtains! The staff is very friendly and had a grab and go breakfast ready early for those who have flights to catch. The shuttle to the airport international terminal is easy to take from here, it does cost, or you can walk back to the domestic terminal and take the free shuttle.

Where do I start? After spending the last two nights sleeping on my office couch due to me being in the middle of moving house, I was really looking forward to staying at the Holiday Inn Express so I could enjoy a nice moving day tomorrow. Currently working in hospitality myself, understanding people and having a positive, welcoming attitude is critical to any role. However, when we met Holly, who works at the reception, this was clearly lacking. There was no sense of welcome, just an outright rude attitude. Not a great start to our trip; however, we tried to look past it. Additionally, I immediately wanted to take a shower, wash my hair, and feel fresh. Yet again, more issues arose. The shampoo bottle was empty, and the body wash was also empty. Having not brought any items with me, water had to suffice, as when we reported it, it took over 30 minutes to arrive. When it came to cleaning my teeth, there were no toothbrush or toothpaste. In this hotel, you have to call down to reception and then collect it yourself, as no one can be bothered to help you and bring it up. Apparently, there is no room service, but this is not listed anywhere. The list could go on, but I am too tired to write any more. Ow, one last thing, I opened up the fridge to grab a nice cold bottle of water to wash my takeaway down. Nothing in there, we called our good old friend holly again, and was told we have a tap down here we will give you a cup and you can fill it yourself. so here we are....

Comfortable, clean, close to the airport. Good selection for basic buffet breakfast, refilled often. Very quiet at night despite being in busy area. Shuttle bus to airport $10 Will definitely stay again

Functional hotel with reasonable price! The atmosphere is fair to middling, though fully equipped with electronic iron, kettle, hair conditioner, lotion, and two kinds of pillow(soft/firm) to choose which is really thoughtful. The continental breakfast is simple but won’t let you down. A good choice in Mascot,Sydney.

Good, no frills Hotel. Rooms are clean but the 'lobby' is confusing and there's very little extra service i.e. if you need something there's no room service, you go collect it yourself. There's also very limited food option except using their Menulog account which just felt weird. They charge 15% for that 'service' but don't even bring it to your room. It was good for the location I needed. Was hard to get to though unless you know the roads. My GPS took me past it three times. I'd stay there again if I needed to

Really convenient location. The beds are comfy, rooms quiet and there is a choice of firm or soft pillows. Toiletries were nice. They do a parking deal for a hotel stay and extended parking while you head off on holidays which is great value.

The hotel is newly built, fresh and nice. Location is very convenient to get to the Domestic Airport. Room was very clean and spotless. Pillows unfortunately had an unpleasant smell, specially when you put your head down. I did use the gym, there was small amount of weights. But was very nice to use since no one else was there at the time. Breakfast wasn't fantastic but it's Australia and hotel's included breakfast is often not that good. All in all for sure I would be back here next time I need to stay near the airport.

What a great greeting at reception by Rebecca, So helpful compared to the reception I got just down the road when I went to the wrong place.. Enjoyed my stay and the room was great, Big bed and big shower. Nice touch having different pillows labelled soft and firm. Gave me a chance to find out what I liked. Meal was good and a nice quiet place. Breakfast can be a bit busy, but food was good. Well priced also. I will definitely be staying there again.

Very very RUDE staff (named Joey)!! Even threatening us to cancel our booking when we asked nicely (not even raising our voice) how can we know whether the booking has been paid via confirmation email. The staff kept saying that we haven’t paid for 1 room when we booked 2 rooms together on the IHG website and provided the credit card details at the time of booking. At the end the staff gave us a meaningless upgrade to a family room. We already booked 2 rooms for 4 people. It was the last night in Australia and this left us a bitter experience on the way home!

The Holiday Inn Express Sydney Airport is convenient. The staff, especially the Customer Service Manager Joey, is always friendly, professional, understanding, approachable and professional. He is always willing to help. The laundry facilities are fantastic and the hotel in general is clean and tidy. Housekeeping is always willing to help if you need anything. The complimentary breakfast is great and the in house menu is affordable, delicious and there is a variety of options. I totally recommend staying here. Walking distance to local shops, Woolworths and restaurants. As a full time cabin crew commuting from interstate, the Holiday Inn Express Sydney Airport is a hotel I advocate to others to stay. Thank you

Amazing hotel, brand spanking new, the rooms were more than comfortable, showers and bathroom extremely clean which is a massive plus, and modern. Love the whole hotel apart it could do with more smiles around there form the staff, but they were very good regardless.

The rooms are small but clean and modern. Reception was efficient but minimal. Food options nearby are limited and, although the hotel has a delivery option, it is essentially a self-service option. Breakfast was good quality and the dining area was comfortable.

I stay here regularly and it’s By far the best airport hotel. The staff are so accommodating and friendly and will do whatever they can to ensure the comfort of their guests. The modern rooms are always extremely clean, bed is very comfortable and the room has all the amenities that you need. Modern TV with screen casting, fast wifi and the complimentary buffet breakfast really hits the sport before checking out. The team at the holiday inn express mascot are fantastic. Could not recommend more!

Spent a night at this hotel and surprisingly impressed how well the stay has been. Room is comfortable and well appointed. Everything is as expected as you might have thought, the hotel is near the airport but not exactly in it. Shuttle service do takes guest to and from the airport with a small fee. Highly recommended for overnight stay for layovers at Sydney International Airport.

Parking was easy here. But it cost AUD40 a night (pretty expensive). The flow of the traffic means you need to take a slight detour if you want to get to the airport. But it is still just a 8-10 mins drive away only. Checking-in was easy and swift. Hotel offers simple breakfast buffet. Room was average. Enough room to move about and probably even do some in room workout. Beds and pillows were comfortable as usual.

SUPER RUDE FRONT OFFICE STAFF*** I believe her name was Kerry…. She definitely doesn’t know how to speak with guest…. I thought being an IHG 4 star hotel we can expect better service as we normally get in Holiday inn… Breakfast was average only had limited items with no choice. **AVOID AT ALL COST** Probably this is good for business people who want to rest for couple of hours but definitely not for vacation or family..

Mostly pleasant stay, staff were helpful and polite, rooms nice beds comfy. One big put off though is the bathroom. Shared a room with my 70y/o father and got the room only to discover that the bathroom walls are glass. They are slightly frosted but that doesn't stop you seeing everything. There are also big gaps around the weird unlockable door. So showering and bathroom activities are not private at all.

Price was good and was a good hotel for one night before our flight the next day. Ubers are very expensive to and from here though despite only being minutes away. Reception staff were often quiet and difficult to hear in the just hotel, there were times we felt they could have been more helpful

In response to the below: We were never offered 2 rooms, this would be a completely different review if we had. Shows I am accurate in identifying the charter of your staff if they are willing to lie to you. We booked a standard room with twin beds on Agoda. We arrived to find out we had been upgraded to a king-single room. I like my mate, but sharing a bed would not work. Kay told us there was nothing they could do and because we had been upgraded it was not the hotels problem. She was rude, arrogant, and needs to find a new job outside customer service.

When I first checked in the room they gave me was occupied already, I opened the door with the key/card provided and there were suitcases and personal belongings all over the room. Thank goodness there was nobody in the room when I entered. I was given a different room after that. The next day I went downstairs to have the ‘complimentary breakfast’, it was rather disappointing. Only one coffee machine operating for so many guests, and it was impossible to get a coffee as there was a huge coffee spill around the machine. Then a person from the staff came to ‘fix’ the issue. He sort of cleaned the mess and checked the machine. He said it was good to go…. but when the person before me tried to make himself a coffee all he got was hot water and milk. The person checking the machine did not even realise the machine had run out of coffee beans. No serviettes in the breakfast area, and when I asked for them I was sent to the reception to get some. I approached the reception as indicated and the lady told me… ‘all I got is paper towels’. Complimentary breakfast with no coffee, no serviettes, and empty food containers all over. Great lack of attention and customer service. Do not recommend at all.

Staying in a 2 Bed room. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and hotel is conveniently just beside airport.

Very clean place to go to of you need somewhere to stay for a night or a few days, close to Mascot Train Station which is very good and the service is very good!

Booked a day use room for rest after an international overnight flight prior to a long drive home. I was served at reception by a lady who wore glasses and a head scarf. She was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Best decision ever to stay here. I found the free breakfast better than expected with hot and continental items. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable with great blockout blinds and 2 choices of pillow (firmer and softer). Shower had great shower power. I would definitely stay here again! It was great value.

My room had been booked for the following Thursday instead of the Thursday that I arrived at reception. The hotel staff were more than understanding and went ahead to alter my booking date and even matched the pricing that had been charged out via booking.com. I was more than grateful and super relieved at the outcome. I also found the bar staff very efficient and friendly. I would definitely recommend Holiday Inn Express to anyone. The rooms were also SUPER SUPER clean.

Very impressed, Stayed one night for a lay over, i arrived close to midnight. Signage and direction to reception was very clear. Check-in staff were friendly, facilities were very well designed and thought out. When i reached my room, it was compact but had everything i needed, all fixtures and products in the room were of a hight standard. Great night sleep, thanks to a graded pillow selection. Early check out & shuttle to the airport was seamless. Would most definitely recommend.

Stayed in this hotel for a night withy family, and quite love it. TV streaming doesn't support YouTube and kids wasn't really happy but it is only one night thing. Room is clean and can see the part of airport from the window which is nice. One great option about this hotel is breakfast comes with real coffee machine. The taste of coffee is nice and we enjoyed our breakfast with lots of selections. Overall it woeth what you paid for. Driving here to the city is not.too far depending on the traffic.

Gréât location, near domestic terminal and East Coast Car Rentals, found free parking on streets nearby quite easily at weekend. Very comfortable beds, good room size (2 Queens) and could cope with all 4 of us as a family with two teenagers. Friendly checkin, good air-con and light excluding curtains. Only fault in design is bathroom is glass walls (not see through) so light goes into room if you use it in the night although it is subliminal. Also person in bed closest to the bathroom will be right next to the shower and not have much soundproofing. Breakfast in a packet is suboptimal as others have said. Will stay again as good value for a family and convenient.

  • 4/5 Mohit G. 2 years ago on Google
The reception was average. It took a while for the reception to find our booking, despite booking directly with IHG. There was also no flexibility on the checkout time despite being an IHG member. The rooms although small had thankfully the same comfortable bed and pillows that one expects from a holiday inn. The breakfast spread was limited with no vegan options, although they were happy to offer soy milk and suggested to find and purchase something from the items in the fridge. Water was exorbitantly priced at $5 for a small bottle.

Check was good. Plane was latish and once at hotel we were told the resturant and room service weren't available and would have to order something to be delivered. Breakfast was ok, reception staff in.morning were wonderful and really helpful. Very quiet room, considering its near airport.

I used the Holiday Inn Express for dayuse as I had a long layover. I was really pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. It is located around a 15min drive from the airport. The rooms are really spacious, with a big bathroom. The breakfast has good options. I used the shuttle provided by the hotel, which only costs around £5 to get to the airport. A really cheap and affordable option. Overall, I was very happy with this hotel.

Comfortable and well located though a very small room similar to the Mantra thats closer to the airport. However, no restaurant on site (unless you like Butter Chicken, One flavor of Pizza or a toastie (room service delivered by yourself) and the place is a block further than other options. For cheaper closer options with restaurants on site, try the Mantra or Ibis Budget or even the Stamford Plaza which has palatial rooms across the road that are often at a par price wise if not cheaper! Also, if staying at the Holiday Inn Express, just wallk across the road to Ole Restaurant at Stamford Plaza. Great food, but once again, a pain when you have to go out in the middle of winter after a long day and you just wanted to order room service.

We chose this place for its convenient location to the airport. We had to be at the domestic terminal early, so it made sense, rather than coming in early from the Blue Mountain. Parking was easy and we left the car there for the week for a fee, (which we would have paid at the domestic terminal car park anyway). Room was good, nice breakfast in the morning was much appreciated. We had a decent dinner at the other Holiday Inn up the road - convenient. We assumed that this hotel is set up for those travelling from the airport...convenient and good, friendly service.

  • 1/5 Steph T. 1 year ago on Google
Wouldn’t recommend it. Room was claustrophobically small, air con didn’t work, buffet breakfast was unhygienic and a free for all. For an airport hotel, you would expect room to have enough space to open out your suitcase.. not here! I had to lift my suitcase on to bed in order to do that! Room key cards didn’t work. Airport shuttle is $10 per person and wasn’t free like other airport holiday inns. Would stay somewhere else next time.

Stayed here after my flight home was cancelled late on a Friday evening. Close enough to the airport (an easy 15-20 min walk) but they did provide a free shuttle bus back to the airport in the morning. Room was clean and comfortable. Had to check out before breakfast was served, and they provided a complimentary takeaway breakfast box which a nice touch.

We stayed here early Dec, so not a peak season yet. All was good for the price. Rooms are basic but were very clean. There were people staying in room next to us and we did not hear them at all, maybe they were just extremely quiet. We had no problems with noise on 7th floor at far end away from lifts. We made use of the free luggage lockers, nice! The domestic terminal is with walking distance (if you don't have to carry much). Everything was fine, Thanks.

We had a good experience at this hotel. The rooms are tight, similar to a cruise cabin, but they cover every base. The sound insulation, beds, water pressure, and light blocking shades are excellent. We had booked to sleep off a long trip, and it fit the bill. Plus added bonus, the staff worked hard and successfully for an early check in. Its a good option at a fair price for one maybe two very close friends to layover.

  • 5/5 Nigel J. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely new hotel. Rooms are not huge, but plenty big enough. Very extremely clean and well looked after, staff are really friendly and helpful I feel like an honoured guest rather than just another paying customer. I feel very comfortable and appreciated here.

Loved staying at the Holiday Inn Express, Sydney. Very comfortable room and beds with all basic amenities. Handwash, body wash and shampoo all provided in the bathroom as a bonus. We also had a complimentary breakfast during our stay which was really convenient with the kids. The variety wasn't great but enough to feed everyone. The hotel is very clean. One of the main reasons for booking here was the $25/night parking next to the hotel which is multiple exit/entry. You can't book this in advance or online, you have to book from reception at check in. Proximity to Sydney airport is an added bonus for anyone flying into Sydney. Will highly recommend this great hotel for all travellers!
