A nice hotel in a good location close to the train station and cafes/ restaurants. Rooms are spacious however not much view outside as there are other buildings close to it. Good buffet breakfast. Also has a bar with good variety of drinks. Gym, sauna and swimming pool on the roof top. Staff were friendly.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming. The reception staff during my check in and check out displayed great customer service. The concierge was also very helpful when I had a question. I was also able to take advantage of the facilities on offer. After a long day touring it was lovely having a swim at the indoor rooftop pool and the sauna. The breakfast Buffet(Catherine and Prahmod were so welcoming) was amazing and dinner at the Platform 818 was superb with all the staff so friendly and seemed to be enjoying their job. I also went for a drink at Eve's bar, very nice and with great customer service. Thank you for such a nice experience!

We loved our stay, the room had a great view and was very clean. I found the bed to be super comfy and the block out curtains/blinds were a nice touch. All of the staff we interacted with were helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast is exceptional!

Our stay was great value for money. Just over the road from central station, busses outside the front door and light rail 5 min walk. The staff were super friendly and always helpful. Our family loved the breakfast in the morning. Room service was hit and miss, there were 4 of us and sometimes we didn't have towels, or were left 2x towels. Coffee and milk weren't replaced once it was used, but these were always fixed quickly by staff when we asked. Great place to stay, great value for money. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is brilliant. Close to the Central public train stations and bus stops. Very close to lots of shops, Market City, China town and plenty of eateries. Could not have picked a better location. Absolutely convenient and perfect! We booked the hotel for about 10 days. The room was okay, nothing flash but comfortable. The breakfast is good but it’s been the same for the last five days. We will be here for a few more days and hopefully there will be something new for breakfast. One thing that’s been very frustrating is that the bathroom shower glass doesn’t block the water from spilling out of the shower area. The shower area has no water barrier on the floor and any amount of careful showering doesn’t stop the water from flowing out of the shower area. Extremely frustrating because I hate wet bathrooms! The attached photos show water flowing out from the bathroom into the entrance way of the room. Otherwise it’s working well for us!

I didn’t have an enjoyable stay. The staff were lovely on arrival. However, the walls between the rooms are super thin and I had to put up with loud noises all night from other quests and the area. The gym and pool is so so so much smaller than what the photos show. The gym didn’t even have space for me to put down a mat anywhere to do stretches. The hand sanitiser was out at the gym.

Spectacular. Tucked away, but worth it. Rooms are immaculate. Service was quick. Staff very helpful!! and not even when asked about the hotel, just general questions. Location is mint. Sauna and facilities are 100%. Thanks for taking great care of me team ❤️

Excellent experience, made better by being an Accord member as well. Breakfast was excellent. The bar downstairs was nice, clean and staff were homely and efficient. Top level pool and basic gym are a nice touch. (don't expect too much of these, however they do do the job) Sauna as well. Had some cool customisable lighting in the room as well which was great fun. Bathrooms were new and clean as well.

The staff went out of their way to help me. Nothing was too much for them. They gave me the front desk mobile number so I could text them and pre order dinner and ask one hundred questions! I was driving a school bus for an excursion 8 hours away and they let me park the bus in the driveway. I was very grateful for everyones help, kindness and understanding. It made a very stressful trip less stressful. The food was fantastic and the room was clean and comfortable. But most of all, the staff were uncompromisingly outstanding.

Great location, reasonably priced, very near the central railway station and all tram routes. The staff are very helpful. Unfortunately our room wasn't very clean, lots of dust and fluff, we did tell the staff, but it wasn't seen to. That's why I have given the rooms 3 stars

Comfortable and clean hotel. I mainly stay here because it's comfortable and safe when I'm travelling alone. Recently my husband and I were in Sydney for a short trip and stayed in a King Room. It was very comfortable, clean, and nice and close to everything we wanted. I only took one star off because one of the cleaning staff knocked on our door and without waiting walked into the room. He was very odd, and insistent that he give us towels or clean the room, even though we kept telling him we didn't need or want it done. If I had been on my own on this occasion I would have felt very nervous. I did report the odd interaction to the reception staff, and I hope that better training is provided.

Staff were friendly and helped with whatever they could. The bed was quite comfortable and massive. The blackout blinds were really good too. Location was fair, about 10 mins walk to city centre and 5 to 10 mins walk to the central station. However a few things that didn't impress us. The hot water system in our room kept changing from hot to cold every 30 seconds. Saw 1 cockroach and there were quite a few drain flies. Informed the staff about this so to prevent any future guests from experiencing the same as us. We were given a small box of chocolates which was nice. Definitely not worth staying for the amount they charged.

We stayed for 3 nights here. The room we got had issues with cleanliness as it was quite dusty and one of the towels provided had a bug on it. The fridge in the room wasn’t working and after notifying reception two times, they kept saying they’ll get back to us or send someone to check and it never happened. We just gave up after that. The shower head was also leaking water at random times.

Rooms felt a bit empty with pure white walls and what felt like large empty areas, the colour changing lights were cool, could never figure out what one of the switches did. Service was excellent if you needed something the staff were more than happy to help. Location is brilliant if you want to see the city. The hotel is located right next to Sydney central station where you can get a train to anywhere in Sydney and even to other states if you felt like it.

I did quarantine back in February and the staff at this hotel were very accommodating, everyone did the best they could with the situation. The food was actually pretty good compared to a what a lot of other hotels got, I was for the most part quite happy with it. Got a bit of Stockholm Syndrome after leaving, started missing my hotel room and regular meal delivery! 😂

For a room its basic, handy location for public transport and there are plenty of shops nearby. The upstairs pool is nice, and heated. The gym is adequate.

I'd like to thanks to Sir Joey, you have a great customer service and very friendly to us. Thank you for making us feeel more comfortable during our stay especially my little one😊😊😊💖💖💖. I would recommend this hotel its very good😉😊

Great location and staff. Queen bed isn’t suitable for two big people and there is not other bed option for a balcony room. There is enough room to fit a king, so not sure why they didn’t add to this room which has a premium price over the standard, superior and privilege rooms. The bed is also quite uncomfortable and does not come with additional pillows in the closet. Is good value when booking in advance for an event (we were there for Vivid).

Stayed here with a friend and her mum. Pricey for a relatively small and basic room. However, the room was definitely adequate and clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. They also offer a fantastic breakfast buffet.

I had a work related stay here and I must say if I was paying for the accommodation there is no way I would of continued my stay. On first arrival I found the staff quite robotic, not welcoming nor helpful. Our room whilst it looked clean was disgusting. There was splatter marks on the bed head, I can only imagine what it was! The carpet was slimy, the lights did not work, the tv reception was atrocious and couldn’t be used. Bathroom was grosssss. Mould, bugs and generally dirty. The only positive of this place is the breakfast buffet which was quite nice and well presented. Again staff did not make me feel welcome and were non engaging. Very disappointing considering I’ve stayed I. Mercure hotels before. Will never be back!

Nice, clean hotel. Room was small but clean and comfortable. The corridors are a bit hard to navigate (signage is confusing). There was a metal piece coming off (broken) the wall of the sliding door as pictured. Overall, good place to stay.

Amazing service by the Mercure team and especially James from concierge. My wife is celebrating her birthday and we got this amazing little gift waiting in our room. Thank you guys so much. You've made her day so special. Definitely coming back.

Stayed at the Mercure Hotel near Central station. From checking in, to concierge service to helping accessing the internet, the staff were great and very helpful. The concierge even offered to carry our suitcases up the steps as were leaving. Cannot fault the staff. Our room was beautiful, clean and very welcoming. The bathroom was a decent size and the products supplied was very decent. The only thing that was a bit disappointing iz that the room had no overhead lights only lamps. The gym area sufficient enough and the pool area very clean. Just wish that the water was a tad warmer. Thank you staff at Mercure

Very clean, nice staff. But I heard that the light can change colours. (But mine only has one colour available!!!). I suggest that they make the light brighter and the TV should have more variety of channels and apps. The buffet is very nice, but they should add more variety of food too. The staff is very fast at cleaning, and they are very polite too. The location is a bit far from the places I want to visit. I would have to consider staying here next time when I come to Sydney.

  • 5/5 Lorraine F. 4 months ago on Google
The hotel is affordable and strategically placed right near the station. It’s walking distance and easily accessible. The employees are all very friendly and helpful. The room is a little bit small, but the cleanliness is superb. Recommended and will definitely revisit if I have the chance. One suggestion is to add an option for a normal light for the bedroom. Although it is a good thing to be able to choose any colour I want, but when I want to choose the “normal” white or yellow light colour, it’s a little bit hard for me and ended up with an eye soring blueish colour.

Customer service was very friendly. Hotel stay was superb. I stayed 5nights each month over 4 months & each day coming back from business my room was cleaned despite me leaving it tidy, room service was maintained. Always supplied with fresh towels. Eves bar was amazing! To order food from to get takeaway. Restaurant was 5star rating. I definitely would stay again in the near future.

Rooms are tiny, no room for luggage. The bathroom was dirty. Hair all over walls in shower and bathroom area. Bathroom had not been dusted either. Beds were horrible, considered not even staying the second night we paid for they were that bad!!!!! 11.30pm and it sounded like river running through our room, possibly people on levels above us showering? It was unbelievably loud. Can hear toilets flush and things being moved around above us too. Pool area was nice but not as big as the online photos made it look. Location is handy next to station and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful but that seemed to be the only good thing about the Mercure. Sadly Would not recommend for families or comfort.

Great location and convenient to train and bus. Held a conference in the conference room, and it was a perfect venue. Food was spot on. Little bar "Eve" down stairs was great for a meal and drink. Staff were super helpful to accommodate rooms being located to close vicinity although it took about 30 minutes to sort which was not ideal after a long flight, following a minor hiccup on their booking instructions

We stayed one night in Sydney and had 2 rooms. The hotel is very well located; staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were very comfortable and had excellent amenities. We enjoyed drinks and the food in the bar downstairs. We had an issue with one of the rooms, however, the Guest Services Manager and staff were excellent in sorting this out for us.

Always a pleasure to finish a day of work and reach the welcoming front desk staff. Hotel is always clean, busy yet each guest is greeted warmly. Location is great and easy to access all essentials. Comfy beds and secure.

I did not have very pleasant stay at your hotel. There was a live cockroach in your sauna room. When I informed your staff at the concierge and showed him the pic of the insect in my phone, he immediately took my phone into the office room to show the manager (without my consent). So, there I was didn't know what they would do to my phone. The manager assured me that they will clean the sauna room but it already left not so good impression as I wouldn't know if all the pool towels were infested with bugs. I also experienced someone "knocking'' on my door, claiming that it was room service, despite the fact that I didn't request for one, and TWICE that the phone in my room rang in the middle of the night, and whenever I answered the phone, the line was already cut off. I informed the staff at the service counter about these incidents as I felt like my privacy and security had been compromised. She reassured me that they will investigate this matter and get back to me soon. I felt that the staff was just giving me a diplomatic answer just to send me away. True enough, I never got an update from them. Overall, if it is not for the location, I would never recommend nor stay in this hotel.

TL;DR - I slept well, so it's all good. Basics first: the room was clean, relatively functional, spacious, had a good shower I could actually stand up in (something that really shouldn't be rare but it is so here we are, points for that), the bed was comfortable and it was quiet despite a full hotel. Then come some caveats: the breakfast was okay - standard grade at this level but nothing more. Perhaps a function of the hotel being fully booked, but there was a good 5-10min wait time to get in to breakfast even if it was included in the rate. The gym had the essentials but had the feeling of being thrown together in half an hour once the equipment arrived. Very spartan. The whole gym/sauna/pool area had weird access through two stories of concrete staircase - there is no elevator. Pool was small, not suitable for laps. There were a whole bunch of little things that did go wrong (like room not ready at the promised time); they were all handled by a friendly staff doing their best so can't really deduct stars from that. All in all a good experience. The location is very convenient and the local area has lots of good dining options.

I stayed for a brief visit to Sydney and couldn't be happier with my choice. The standout feature is the location of this hotel. It is right next to Central station and buses. You don't need a car! It is also near lovely coffee shops - I strongly recommend "Something for Jess" in Chippendale and there is also an avenue of international style cafes and restaurants a street or two away. The room was large and peaceful. The hotel staff were helpful. Despite the location and size of the hotel, it was quiet. An inevitable feature of such a well-appointed hotel is that it is BUSY. I had to wait for lifts to and from my room and the foyer was absolutely packed. I will definitely stay again.

The location is so convenient next to Central Station. The rooms are very quiet and well equipped with everything we needed. Enjoyed breakfast each day and also the pizza on the terrace. All staff were very helpful. Enjoyed a swim and the views from the gym and pool area.

What’s better than starting your day with a delisious breakfast served by extremely kind staff! I stayed for 14days due to travel restrictions. Needless to mention the convenient location of the hotel and the spacious room, I was mostly impressed by the quality of their food and customer service. Breakfast was yum, and the team had always made me feel welcomed.

Booked a city view room but got a totally different stuff, DO NOT pay extra for city view room as you’ll get a regular room with blocked view anyway. Bathroom is also different from what I booked, false advertisement. Make a complaint with duty manage who’s name is Sue, but nothing can be done. If you can’t provide what you advertise, then don’t advertise it!

We just finished 14 days quarantine and have nothing but praise for the staff and the experience. Every request was accommodated. Every interaction was cheerful and positive. The food was great, with the kitchen being flexible to our specific requests. Coffee was available on order. Really great (circumstances considered) and many thanks to all the fantastic staff.

We are at day 8 of our quarantine. Our stay here has been great so far. The daily meals are delicious and of good variety. The hotel service team is courteous and attentive; health care providers are professional and friendly. And to top it all off, I received a pleasant surprise yesterday, a special birthday dessert and balloon from Akshay Arora and team. :) Thank you Mercure!

The breakfast repeats during our stay. So You kinda get used to the food and wished for a new one. But the food serving was very generous. And the staff was accommodating and very nice. The service of the Food staff where all fantastic. The room was kinda small for us, we booked for two queen beds. However it was clean and comfy , if only we have good views and a bigger space to roam around inside. The pool was small, they say it was heated but when we tried them It doesn't feel like it was heated. It was cold but not the same as outdoor ones. We have not tried the gym but we can see it was small too. It was located just beside the indoor pool.

Stayed for an end of year holiday. Our room had a city view, overlooking Adina apartment hotel. The room was okay, with excellent daily cleaning. We liked the location that was practically outside Central station. The only downside was perhaps they didn't have that toddler friendly swimming pool as our initial expectation.

Had a great experience! My partner had booked a room for us to stay in Sydney for the night to celebrate my birthday, he had requested for the hotel to do something special for me, and to both our surprise, Mercure staff went above and beyond to meet this request! They upgraded our room with to the view of the city which was amazing! They had also sent a complimentary gift to our room too! The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful! The only downside was the pool. It was very murky, not very well ventilated and quite small. Other than that, I definitely will be returning again to stay. 😊

It’s my first time to stay here in Mercure. The hotel is beautiful! We liked the location that was walking distance to Central station. Decent rooms, clean, comfortable and with amazing views from the Central station, The food is delicious and affordable! Special mention to Michelle who assisted us from eves bar, she is sweet and love her smile. Provided an excellent service with attention to detail. Front desk manager and front desk staff were so helpful all the time! Great team and beautiful hotel! Totally recommend it !! Looking forward to come back soon.

Stayed for 4 days. Everything was perfect! Got early check in and my room was ready at 9 am when I arrived. Got late check out and got to stay until 6 pm. Very friendly staff and very fast check in/check out process. Lobby smells amazing! Room was super clean and updated nicely. Close to everything and public transportation! The room gets really dark and quiet. (I was on the 7th floor).I will stay here anytime I am in Sydney!

We would like to say a big thank you to the fantastic team Mercure hotel has. From the extra touches they placed in the room for my partners birthday on arrival. From allowing us to stay an extra few hours because our late flight. Fantastic service. Nothing was to little or too big for them to handle. Platform 818, your staff are also the very VERY best! Thank you. Thank you!! We can’t wait to be able to come back and stay with you again Mercure!

Brilliant location to Central Station. Remember no lift from Airport train platform to South Concourse, which links to the closest exit to hotel. Also the coin operated washer and dryer costs $4 each per cycle, not $2 as listed on hotel website. There is a EV charger which seems like free of charge but you need the app to unlock it.

Check in was slow, need more people at the desk or improve the process. Breakfast great, well presented, good variety of fresh and cooked food. Pleasant room to dine in. Restaurant food tasty, but lighting dim in a mostly black themed decor. Too much black in all the decor, needs some color, and better lighting. Bed comfortable and I was able to alter my aircon as it was too cold after arriving on a rainy night. But my friends next door air con was locked onto 21 degrees and they were a bit cold. No spare blankets in wardrobe. Fortunately I had one of my own to cover me. Rooms have been refurbished since I last stayed there, but again I have to say too much black themed, needs a bit of color maybe the black and white wall hanging could be Australian landscape. Overall good place to stay, close to public transport.

Had a great stay at Mercure Sydney, spacious and clean room, friendly and helpful staffs, good location. If I really be picky, then is the food and beverage, there are only 2 restaurant in operation, one serving breakfast and the bar and pub serving lunch and dinner. I wish the cafe will serve dinner as I prefer a cozy place for dinner. The buffet breakfast is good and not expensive.

It was fine - it is always hard to sleep the first night in a hotel, and there was a connecting door to another room where they seemed to have visitors stay for some time - just a lot of talking. The breakfast was good - though the staff seemed to spend time catching up with themselves or regulars rather than seeing if newbies were after anything .

  • 4/5 Ruby C. 1 year ago on Google
We stayed in a clean king-size room with a nice view. It was modern and stylish. Not many kitchen items- just a kettle, mugs and wine glasses. We were disappointed to discover that we had a broken fridge that couldn’t be fixed that day as the technician had gone home for the day. The staff kindly let us use their fridge, however we had to go to the lobby to drop off and pick up items when we wanted them. They fixed the fridge the day after but we were leaving that day. No compensation was given. Expensive parking also at $45 a day.

Convenient location! Great Value as an Accor+ member. The Mercure Sydney is a ‘hop and a skip’ away from Central Station. This made it a convenient location for our short stay, being a 15 minute walk from Pitt Street Mall. The Hotel Staff were friendly and the breakfast options were fantastic. I appreciated how one of the Chefs took time from prep to help navigate through different dietary requirements including a nut allergy. One oddity; if the bar downstairs is closed you can’t order adult drinks to your room. The bar seemed to close very early given this was your room service option for drinks. A modern problem for sure. Otherwise it was a good weekend and would consider staying here again.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Mercure. The room was great for our needs and spotless, the kids loved the coloured lights and ability to change them to suit the mood. Beds are comfortable and the pool area on the roof is lovely, we were lucky enough to see an amazing lightning show over the city while we were up there. The location is fantastic, close to Central and the light rail from Haymarket makes it even easier to make your way around. Within walking distance of Paddy's, Chinatown and Darling Harbour. The staff at the hotel are friendly and efficient and the hotel parking was very convenient.

Really underwhelmed. Not four star for cleanliness. Needs more staff and service and hygiene training. Poor at best. For such a busy hotel it must have more attention to housework especially during these times (covid).
