Awesome location, great value for money! Rooms are generous and clean. Beds and linen are super comfortable. The building is an old, historic warehouse that has been transformed into apartments. Other reviews mentioned the walkways are like a prison - it's really not. The materials used are a bit dated, but when you think about the building and the history, it's actually pretty cool. Only negative is that it's noisy from traffic, but ear plugs sorted that. Some rooms seemed to have complimentary earplugs too. There is also a walkway that's accessible from level 2 that takes you to Darling Harbour - super convenient and easy to get to the ICC. I would definitely stay here again.

I did contact the Oaks Sydney Team to resolve my concerns before posting this publicly, but they were ignored hence this review. My stay at Goldbrough suites has been very disappointing. Your website images are misleading and not representative of the apartment facilities you provide (well from room 410 in this case). On two separate occasions during my stay with the a fellow colleague, we contacted reception for additional towels/ rubbish bags given the duration of our stay. This was ignored on both occasions, and we sourced our own towels and additional rubbish bags. Furthermore, the person from room 411 who knocked on our door at 10pm one night, and told us to “keep it down” when we were simply communication at a talking volume. Just now (10pm again) they banged on the wall. I can say with confidence that this was inappropriate - the volume of two people talking is not asking for too much from an apartment suite. It seems like this may be a permanent residence for the people in room 411 ? Given the above, I feel your level of service and facilities need to be addressed and are unacceptable (electrical extension cords are a safety issue, as well as flickering lights, sound proofing). Access to having rubbish removed is a safety issue and unacceptable. I would not recommend Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough based on how it portrayed on its website and how my genuine concerns were handled

My recent experience at Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough Suites was deeply disappointing and fell far below my expectations. The advertised pictures showcased a completely different reality from what we actually encountered upon arrival. It is disheartening to realize that the hotel relied on deceptive marketing tactics to lure in unsuspecting guests. First and foremost, the most glaring issue was the stark disparity between the promotional images and the actual conditions of the hotel. The rooms depicted in the pictures were spacious, elegantly furnished, and boasted breathtaking views. However, the reality was quite the opposite. The room I was assigned was cramped, outdated, and lacking basic amenities. The stark contrast between the advertised images and the actual room was not only disheartening but also misleading. Additionally, circumstances beyond our control led to a delayed arrival. Our flight was canceled, forcing us to arrive a day later than originally planned. Despite this unforeseen inconvenience, the hotel showed no empathy or willingness to accommodate us. We were not offered an extra day's stay or any form of compensation for the missed night. The lack of customer service in such situations is unacceptable and left a sour taste in our mouths. Furthermore, the overall level of service throughout our stay was lackluster. The staff appeared indifferent and unresponsive to guest needs. Requests for assistance were met with apathy and delayed responses. It was evident that guest satisfaction was not a priority for the hotel, as our concerns and grievances were brushed aside. Considering the misrepresentation in the advertisements, the lack of compensation for the missed night due to circumstances beyond our control, and the overall subpar level of service, I cannot recommend Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough Suites to any discerning traveler. It is essential for hotels to uphold their promises, prioritize customer satisfaction, and provide an honest representation of their facilities. Unfortunately, Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough Suites failed to meet these basic expectations, leaving me deeply disappointed with my experience. I sincerely hope that my feedback serves as an opportunity for the management of Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough Suites to rectify these issues and improve their services for future guests.

My partner and I moved into the building in May 2020. We were only meant to stay for 6 months, but ended up extending until March 2022! The apartment was very reasonably priced and the staff were always accomodating. We locked ourselves out numerous times and they were always happy to give us an extra key and provide access. Sauna and pool facilities were also an added bonus! Great location too.

DO NOT STAY HERE! We are on night 2 of 2 here and it is awful, we complianed immediately on arrival but they said there was a no cancellation policy. It is noisy in both the bedroom from the corridor and the lounge area from the road. Getting to and from the city is a maze. The fittings are so dated and worn it's unbelievable we've been charged over $300 a night for this! Do not believe the positive reviews. See Pics of what you'd find in your room.. and this was the better of 2 we looked at!!

Definitely would not recommend to anyone. Paper thin walls. All 12 levels share one common walkway area (like a prison). You can hear anyone opening and closing their main door from the entire hotel thanks to the open timber structure. You can hear everyone walking to and from the lift because of the wooden walkways and can hear everyone’s conversations keeping you up late at night and awake early in the morning. While you are laying in bed you can hear the person in the apartment next door and above you incredibly clearly. None of this is shown on the hotels website via information or photographs, it is quite deceiving. Will definitely never return here, very disappointing.

Good sized 1 bed apartment, in this apartment hotel. Comfortable beds, decent bathroom. A/c very efficient, windows open! If you are looking for expansive views, probably not the hotel for you. Our room is on the 8th floor (of 12). Recommend

Arrived there this evening. Concierge were unhelpful. I was trying to get into the building and they wouldn't unlock the door. I was being circled by a random man outside in the dark Room was nothing like what I expected. The room also had an external door to the street / dark lane way that had empty beer bottles near the door. The gate at the front of my apartment was also broken. As a woman on her own - I felt particularly unsafe. Decided to leave and go elsewhere. Told the evening receptionist that I didn't feel safe and the room was not what I had been led to believe I'd be getting. When I had a cab called to take me to my alternate accommodation, the receptionist told me I could wait outside (after stating I didn't feel safe).

The stay was fine. The reception staff were really nice. It was the concierge guy that ruined my stay. I was in the gym doing some training and I moved the rower out of the way for more room to train. The concierge guy came in and verbally abused me for moving the equipment. I was absolutely shocked at how he spoke me and a paying guest at thew hotel. I'm not one to put in a complaint but I should have. I'm still steaming from it today and that's why I'm putting it in a review. Because of this I will not stay at the hotel again

This would have to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. The room is sub standard. Clearly no maintenance being undertaken. I had the previous guests toe nail clippings on the bathroom floor. Room had a terrible cigarette smell. Would not recommend

Nothing like their marketing photos for our unit. Building is old, lobby was remodeled nicely. Location is good, wifi is fast and strong everywhere, easy walk to Darling harbor, China town, and a small but well stocked grocer store nearby. Good lap swimming pool and sauna. The bathrooms and kitchen were remodeled/updated. Everything else was dated, and the wooden floor and staircase down the lower bedrooms squeak very loudly as it's probably 100+ years old. Old chandeliers, old switches, old furniture, and steel baby gates squeak. Maybe someone might like the old style, but it's nothing like photos on their site or their listing, which was why we booked. Maybe our unit was not yet remodeled to look like those photos, or maybe this is one of the intended themes, not sure. However, if you expect the modern style, then maybe ask/confirm with reception when you check in first. Also related, taxi ripped us off, watch out and search web for taxi scam from Sydney airport, use Uber instead.

Very good value. We were a party of 4, we had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment on the penthouse floor. It was quiet, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view from the sitting room and main bedroom. Reception staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. All members of our party would choose this accommodation again.

We booked a penthouse in the apartment. The apartment is conveniently located in. Pyrmont very near to Darling harbour. Penthouse was spacious with great view. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. There was a Jacuzzi open open area. No support for luggage from the staff. Also for the penthouse you have to climb one floor stairs as lift does not go to that floor.

Stayed for a convention at ICC, Oaks was super close which was great for us. The room was a lot bigger than expected which was a nice surprise! Check in and check out was super quick and easy. No housekeeping didn't inconvenience us as we were only there 2 nights but there was a washing machine and dryer in the room so if we stayed longer we would of been fine. Be aware, a lot of these low reviews don't realise that this location is more furnished apartments than a conventional hotel/motel.

Amazing vintage hotel in the heart of Sydney! We stayed for a week and are really satisfied with the hotel facilities and the room! The room may be a little old but everything was good and running. Great level of customer service, really fast and quick staff are lovely. We are highly pleased with our stay. Definitely will be back to stay in the near future!

Where do I start? Bedroom has no natural light. Shower water pressure almost non existent. Shower head at nose height for average height male. One towel provided had a large brown stain. Housekeeping was not conducted at any point during despite putting the "please clean my room" sign four days in a row. Random steps in living room go down to an alley facing dumpster and car park. Interior of hotel feels like an old prison corridor. Location poor and very difficult to get to on foot despite fairly central location. Having to walk through two levels of a dirty car park to get to Darling Harbour is ridiculous. Wifi practically useless. Noise from other rooms and corridors comes in to the room easily. Aside from the above, the room was well equipped, and staff were pleasant to deal with. Bed was very comfortable. But there were too many negative factors for the premium price paid. Would not stay here again, and would not recommend anyone else do so.

I am a tenant and lived here for around 10 months. The worst time and experience since I was born in the world . Some staff are good and responsible, some are not and toxic and indifferent to your needs and complaints. This building is under strata by law, but there are many breaches, like uncarpetted floors/ hard wooden floors, transmitting noises. The wall is thin, the owner of the hotel , maybe the owner corporation , wouldn't spend a penny to renovating this furnitures lasting maybe more than 10 years. I complaints about the noises for more than 20 times, nobody cares at all. The MINT agent is also indifferent to our rights as well, they just want to less jobs to do. If you live in the rooms in the back side, there is a car parking building. Currently the balcony remediation project has been ongoing since this January. Instruction works start from 7 am, you can't sleep more if you want. Sometimes there are fume of rust proof oil paint, huge noises. Totally a nightmare for me, I have suffered depression and sleep deprivation. I'm going to take our disputes to tribunal at NCAT. I live here and heard a lot of guests complaints. Today a family complained neighbour's dog ... Some guests smoke definitely ! Good luck if you booked this hotel!

5 of us stayed here and we had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the penthouse floor. It was comfortable but needs an update. Carpets look dirty and kitchen felt sticky. Bathrooms were ok but could do with a bit of maintenance as towel hooks were missing from the door. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Not as close to the main part of Darling Harbour that I hoped but we were able to get around easily. Would stay again if they did some updates.

Fantastic customer service and the rooms were a really good size. The room was clean and tidy with comfortable beds. Great location, close to Darling Harbour and the Lyric Theatre.

  • 4/5 John W. 6 months ago on Google
1 star subtracted because the shower didn't have curtains and the window in the bathroom faces a public area and that window also doesn't have curtains(windows are frosted but curtains cost like $20 come on lol) Air conditioner/heater was non-functional but wasn't really an issue during the time of our stay. House keeping should probably get long sticks with dusters on the end so they can get the dust out of impossible to reach places. BESIDES those issues, the room was otherwise clean and comfortable and the sauna and hot tubs were great to have on site. 4 minute walk to light rail and lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance

We checked out as fast as we checked in. We were given room 501. The one positive is it has a ton of character it’s and old building there is lots of space in the room Other than that the location of the room is horrendous. it is basically touching multiple levels of bridges the noise is ridiculous. there is a view of the traffic i suppose. The room is also gross. stains in the carpets dirty and broken windows dirty walls. Nothing is up kept I was pretty shocked at how bad it was. the manager stated we can’t get a refund because we didn’t give them 48hrs notice. not sure how we would no that’s what it was like before we got there i wish i had took photos but we were in a hurry to find a new room. we paid almost $500 to stay somewhere else for 1 night before our flight out the next morning.

If you like heritage buildingstaff, you will love the hotel. It has great character and I personally loved the architectural features of the hotel. The rooms have all the amenities and extremely high ceiling, but I felt the room looked a bit tired. Location is excellent only a few minutes walk from Darling Harbour. I staff are very friendly and helpful 😊

  • 1/5 Amanda T. 4 months ago on Google
The place is not as shown in the photo, you will get surprised by how old the building actually is and the corridor of the building has no privacy at all(you can see someone is cooking with their room window opened). Our room balcony is facing a car park and full of smell of waste gases from exhaust pipe of vehicles. Not recommending anyone to stay here and we will definitely not going back. P/s: also bumpy experience with the booking process to get a tax invoice. The receptionist is unable to provide you a tax invoice upon payment on the day of arrival and said they can only give you during check out. And after checking out, we emailed them to request for a tax invoice and they didn’t reply for 2 months. Still waiting currently for the reply.

I was staying during the South X South West Festival and I think this could have been the cause of the little sleep I had. The bedroom is right at the entrance of the door and the window looks out into the corridor which isn't great. All hours of the night I could hear drunk people coming back to their rooms and I could also hear everything in the rooms next to me. I was also told that my room would be cleaned and it wasn't. (I was there for a week so this normally wouldn't matter but It would have been nice). I do appreciate that they have 24 hour reception so I was able to check in really late. I would stay here again, I just think I would need to pick a different room. My room was directly outside the elevators for reference and on a low level near the darling harbour exit on level 2.

Handy to ICC. Main hallway area very noisy. Rooms have thin walls (i could hear TV from neighboring room). Had cockroaches in bathroom and kitchen and small insects running across duvet. Staff were helpful with finding another room.

Went to a bucks party in one of the penthouse suites. Nicely appointed and furnished. Plenty of outdoor space both open and under cover with magnificent views of darling harbour and the city.

Beautiful building and architecture... always clean and tidy, people who work there are super friendly and kind, great installations (pool, sauna, gym) and its a fantastic mixed experience of half residencial and half hotel... so you always get to knew new people. The location is perfect, 5 min walk from the harbour court and 15 min walk and you are in the middle of the city.

Only gets 4 stars because the STAFF is awesome. Otherwise it's a solid 2 stars because the location and facilities are good.

I wouldn’t even rate it 1 star! Apart from the location the apartment was very disappointing. The photos were quite deceiving as the apartment was not clean and very outdated. We saw a couple of cockroach’s and the floor was filthy. Would not recommend

Standard hotel at reception, Inner architecture once beyond reception is on point. Beautiful beams incorporated into the infrastructure design creating a visual beauty. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble, apartments were adequately sized and furnished for the purpose. Comfortable beds and very convenient to Darling Harbour and city.

  • 1/5 Greg C. 2 years ago on Google
Where do I start, room was filthy, they then gave us a 2 bed apartment that wasn't much better, floors and bathrooms hadn't been vacuumed, kitchen cupboards had food stuck to them. Second day came back to the room to find door wedged wide open, our belongings inside!! They did give us $15 a day off parking, nice of them, lol. We stayed here in suites before and they were good, not sure what's happened, in the middle of a pandemic, cleaning should be a top priority.

This hotel is ancient and although some renovations have been done, it still looks a bit tired. The kitchen was quite well equipped and the lounge furniture quite comfortable. The hot water took forever to come through, which was frustrating when you are trying to conserve water. The staff were amazing!! So willing to assist with anything, nothing was too much trouble - thank you.👏

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Cons: 1. The corridor between the rooms appears to be a scary, creepy area, similar to prison cells seen in movies. 2. The rooms are filthy, with cobwebs, dust, and biscuit crumbs on the floor, a stained kettle, a broken exhaust fan in the kitchen, and so on. 3. The induction stove had no indicators because it was already worn out. It took me 40 minutes to boil a kettle of water. When I called the receptionist, they advised me to turn the knob anti-clockwise for maximum heat. But, after waiting for 30 minutes, I requested that they send a service technician, who had no idea how it worked. He made a video call to his friend, who finally answered that it should be turned clockwise for max. heat. 3. My SIL was in Madame Tussauds and had a minor accident, resulting in a sprained leg. The hotel's disabled lift was not operational. 4. There is a clever concierge seated opposite the reception desk who will provide anti-tickle spray when asked for medication for a sprained leg. 4. There was a lot of noise from the adjacent rooms, making it difficult to sleep. 5. When I questioned why they didn't have basic medications on hand, the lady manager responded that they weren't running a hospital. 6. Rooms were very cold and had a weird odour. Pros: 1. When asked for extra vessels, they provided immediately. 2. When asked for any contacts for wheel chair, they provided a list of contacts. Overall staying there was a nightmare. 3. Good hot water supply in the washrooms.

The reception staff were all very lovely and efficient. The Concierge was great for directions on all sorts of places. The room I stayed in was a 1 bedroom apartment it was very spacious with a kitchenette, a living area and a separate bedroom and a bathroom with laundry facilities plus a balcony. The room was a little tired looking but nothing a coat of paint won't fix however it was very clean and had everything you needed. A great location very close to Darling Harbour and the light rail makes it easy to get around the city. I love the historical information around the walls on the original building. I would not hesitate to stay here again in fact I look forward to it.

Positive: -Friendly staff -Nice pool/spa and gym area Negatives: -Room wasn’t very clean and had a awful smell. I was finding hairs around that definitely weren’t mine. -The room felt very dark -Location is average and very noisy -The hallways a very creepy and give off massive prison vibes. Overall I wouldn’t waste my money to stay here again.

2 night stay. Service good. Location good. Hallways are exposed and cold. Room was big and cold. Maintenance came next day to fix heater and woke me up at 9:00am. Cleaning lady woke me up same day 8:00am. Next day emergency test out of the loud speakers woke me up at 8:00am. Check out is 10:00am. I’ve stayed at 100s of hotels across 15 countries no one checks out at 10:00am. Very rarely does cleaning lady wake you up before 10:00am. Traveling with no sleep and jetlag. Won’t be back.

Great location just 10min by walk to Pyrmont bridge. Very clean and confortable. this hotel has a spa, sauna, swimming pool and gym. The staff was very welcoming and very helpful. We really enjoy our stay. We booked from Airbnb and it was a great value for the localisation. I recommend 👌

  • 3/5 Jason W. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is serviceable in all aspects, but whilst partially renovated it still has many features that weren't. However the main concern was the noise from the nearby roads and expressway in the master bedroom facing the east.

False advertising /scamming rooms, incorrect prices vs what is really booked. Requested two full sized single beds as advertised / and confirmed in booking terms. Tried to get addiotnal $70 per day for roll out bed, and have been unable to confirm booking or even their own compulsory terms and conditions when booking in. There is no general manager or email to complain or escalate and no one has gotten back after 4 attempts.

I travelled in a group of 4, booked months ago, asked for 2x twin rooms on the same floor as each other. Checked again that this would be possible a few weeks in advance - yep all good. Arrived only to be told there were no available rooms on the same floor. We were given different rooms on different floors. Not usually a big deal but the swipe cards don't allow you access to different floors other than your own, so to meet with our companions we had to go all the way down to level 1 or 2. It definitely impacted the enjoyment of our stay. We were offered an apology but not a reduced rate or any alternative room options. The room itself was fine, bed comfy, had more facilities than expected, with a full kitchen set-up (oven, dishwasher, microwave, stovetop), and the bathroom had washing machine, dryer and large laundry sink. Lifts/elevators are slow. The walk to Darling Harbour nightlife and eateries was about 750m through dirty dark car parks. It did the job but I wouldn't stay again.
