Alright, so I didn't fully read the description when I booked it and didn't realise it was a shared bathroom. But even with that surprise, I was very happy with the stay. The room-to-shared bathroom ratio was fine and it was fully accessible when needed. Everything was clean and felt homely. Staff were nice. And for the price, it was great proximity to The Star and Darling Harbour. Being on the first floor, the noise from the bar below travelled up quite easily. We stayed up to midnight anyway which was when when they shut it off, so it didn't bother us.

I was very lucky to have a kind woman help me get the heavy pram up the stairs, she was very nice especially as it was heavy with a sleeping child. Honestly, above and beyond. The room is amazing, I have my own bathroom, a little kitchen, and the mattress, so comfy. The room is so clean, with a cute little table and chairs, plenty of light and a heater. I am not surprised that this place is booked up for vivid on Saturday nights, it's not too far from darling harbour but just outside enough to be comfortable.

Great hotel right near darling harbour, clean and comfy rooms with shared bathrooms. We have had a very comfortable stay and have enjoyed our time in Sydney. We would highly recommend the Dunkirk and plan to return when we visit Sydney again.

What a fantastic pub. I have stayed here and this Pub offers very good quality accommodation reasonably priced for the city. Hospitality shown by the duty manager was first class. Rooms and beds where clean and comfortable. Cold beer & great meals. Parking station close by for overnight parking. This is a must visit/stay!

Great food, terrific value for money, thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Food was cooked to perfection. I had a medium rare steak with pawns, mash & veg... steak was perfect. Service is really great and Bar Staff are super friendly. Coming back for the Sunday Roast.

Tv didn’t work. Wifi didint work. Mould in shared bathroom.Window in bedroom wouldn’t close properly. No air con. Room had a window at the top of the door with a blind covering it and all of the the light from the hallway came in all night. Add in the constant traffic noise, sirens, aeroplanes overhead etc and it was up there with one of the worst nights sleep in my life. Definitely wouldn’t Recommend.

We stayed at the Dunkirk for a night and couldn’t be happier with the service we received. All the staff were happy and accomodating. Ash in particular was extremely helpful, and made us feel more than welcome. We had dinner and the food was great too!

Soundproofing is great, room is nice and quiet. Only downside is the overhead lights don’t work and it is very warm in the room (No aircon but a fan). There are lamps so it’s not such a big deal. Staff are very nice. Also a good location with a bus stop right outside and good food all around.

The staff have been excellent at the Dunkirk Hotel. Extremely helpful and genuinely fabulous people. The room was good with the private bathroom and a really comfy bed. Even though it’s connected with a pub, they’ve thought of everything including security for those staying.

We just finished our stay at the Dunkirk. Excellent value for money. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Bed was very comfortable and great size shower. Only a few minutes walk to Darling harbour and fish market. Thanks for a great stay. Kind regards, Elizabeth and Costanzo Absolutely recommend staying at the Dunkirk.

Nice big room with kitchen and bathroom, perfect for the two of us. King size bed was comfy. Downside was broken air con unit that had been attempted to be taped up but was just left broken in the room and was given off a damp smell. Build up of dust in corners of rooms. Windows could be refurbished as some of them required items to be propped open and we’re very flimsy so could hear all the noise outside. Overall was a good stay but with the things mentioned it would have been perfect. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I have been meaning to write this review for months however, no time like the present. We held our 40th birthday party there and also being a local was definitely convenient. On the day of the party one of the bar attendants was hit by a vehicle crossing at the lights (which he had right of way), he dusted himself off and we couldn't believe it, he was the DJ at our party. Sometimes these stories are hard to believe but the level of service, the quality of the beer on tap and the food are all exceptional. Not only do I recommend this place for anyone to go to, this is one of the MUST see pubs in Sydney. Great people, Great food, Great place!

Friendly &helpful staff, room was large with lots of pillow’s & beautiful sheets. Location very handy to light rail, ferry, harbour, Star & Lyric Theatre & many great Cafes. Bit noisy as is on a corner & wind resulted in windows rattling. We loved ❤️ our stay

Fantastic location for a day and/or night looking around Sydney. Easy walk into the CBD in around 10 minutes and plenty of good cafes and pubs nearby. Highly recommend it. The room was clean and nicely presented. It had everything required for a comfortable stay and was as described in the listing.

Great room. Nice and comfy. Clean and had everything we needed. Stayed in the king with private bathroom. Highly recommend. The rooftop is very cool as well.

Please DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL just judging off the pictures shown on their websites. Real life is a far cry from what is expected. We spent the night sleeping in an infestation of COCKROACHES as well as the windows being unable to close (not because of their lack in function but because if we closed them a PUTRID and STUFFY SMELL coming from the carpets would circulate instead). There was MOULD in almost every corner. And as soon as we came in, there was already a CLUMP OF HAIR already decorating the bathroom wall. The whole place just made us feel ITCHY and GROSS. Thank goodness the only thing decent we’re the beds. Overall a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE stay. We contacted the hotel regarding this issue and ever since that call NO action has been placed. Blaming their issues with the cleaning company we were expected to just carry on. Please take a look at the pictures I took of inside my family room.

I came to this hotel today July 15, 2023 and one of the patrons is vaping continuously in the main bar area. None of the staff even tried to stop him of doing. Very disappointing that staff didn't step in even though that the patron's table is right at the front of the bar.

A traditional pub for those just after a quiet evening with friends and cheap food/drinks or want to play a round of pool. Marie, Kenny and the team were more than welcoming to book the entire pool level for our group with minimal requirements! Unfortunately the garden bar was undergoing renovations but look forward in checking out once completed.

Amazing Greek Salad ($16) with prawns (+$6) and a nice cold schooner of Coopers Ale. The salad was so tasty, I didn't really touch my beer.. This hotel has such a nice vibe, the chairs are comfortable and the staff are friendly. This is my favourite Sydney pub. 5 stars!

Whilst the service was great, meals were very reasonable and filling and tasty, the room I was in was a bit of a disappointment. My boss booked me a Double Ensuite room and the only positive I can say is that the bed was comfortable! Despite it being advertised as containing air-conditioning and daily housekeeping, it has neither. And while the weather overnight mean I didn't need air-con, the ceiling fan did not work either which meant I had to have the windows open for a breeze and heard ALL the cars and sirens all night. It was not until the 3rd night of a 4-night stay that the friendly duty manager brought up a pedestal fan and I was finally able to get decent sleep.

I went for a pub lunch with friends. They are serving good choices of drinks. The food was good. Airy, spacious dining hall. Outdoor seating is available. Responsive service.

I recently stayed for 2 nights in a double room with shared bathroom for $170 a night. It was not worth that. The location was great, five minute walk from supermarket, trains and ferry, and there is a bus right outside the door. It was also a quick 15-20 min walk from shopping centre and sea life. The decor in the room was nice, the tv however was broken and the doona was super thin. The shared bathroom door has a window in it so whenever someone is showering anyone who walks by can see in.

Good old fashion pub over looking a messy intersection. I love it for it old pub values and the traffic entertainment. Could do with a good kitchen which would earn it a star.

Great location, the room was very clean, the hotel manager Marie helped us from the time we arrived to after we checked out (she kept our luggage till the time of our flight). We had everything we needed around the hotel, next time I already know where to stay! Thanks guys!

The renovations have breathed new life into this pub. It's looking great and plenty of separated areas. Good food available at Inferno grill too!

Stayed 4 nights for a $100 a night in may. Loved it, bed was good pillows where ok to good room was clean. Toilet leaked a bit but once you closed the door couldn't hear it. Only stairs to the rooms they are in ok condition. The bar is peach of a bar cheap beer good food staff are nice and seam to like there jobs. Location is prime close to a lot of Sydney or public transport. The photo is of the view from the toilet when you open the window maybe only open it when your seated... I will be back.

Came here for after work drinks with colleagues on Thursday night. We missed the Happy Hour but the Cocktails on tap deal (get two for $18) was still available & did the job. Food’s by Inferno Grill from Maroubra. Had the Fish & Chips, which was decent, but the battered thick chips were the highlight for me. The young guy who manned the bar was friendly & attentive.

Great atmosphere with quality streaming of country music videos. And as an added bonus, western music. Drinks at great prices! Friendly staff!

Great place recommended by one of the staff in Darling Harbour. Everyone was really welcoming and friendly, the food was great and at normal prices, not crazy DH prices. Would definitely recommend. If you want great value for money, tasty honest food and a great welcome, go. Would go back again for sure. Definitely Pom friendly!🤪

I had an excellent stay at the Dunkirk, which is located right in the heart of Pyrmont, making it perfect both to enjoy the cafes and pubs right nearby, as well as a super-short walk into the city. The staff were lovely and helpful, including Marie and Ashlee who checked me in. Both were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and stylish, with a vintage charm. Would definitely stay again!

  • 4/5 William J. 1 year ago on Google
Needless to say: a great location in Pyrmont, hearty atmosphere with social feel in the pub area (slots notwithstanding, which are separated from the main room), and definitely the traditional above-pub hotel cosiness in the rooms. The room and bathrooms are well-appointed with appealing design choices from a recent refurb, though with a number of issues: lacking cleanliness (a fair few wrappers, tissues, and disused bottles under furniture discovered when looking for keys), one bedside lamp with bulb out, and lacking some basics like a hair-dryer or drinking water. That said, the staff are super friendly and accommodating of requests--and just good fun to talk to. Would happily stay again.

Stayed here recently for a work function nearby. Room was clean and tidy, modern decor and comfortable mattress. Shared bathroom was okay, nice and modern however could really use a curtain or blind on the bathroom window that faces the public hallway, as even with tinting it's still could use a bit more privacy. Great location close to Doltone House and Star Casino, and perfect for just a one night stay that's affordable. Not wheelchair or pram friendly as there's a couple of flights of stairs to get to the rooms but would recommend for 1 or 2 people for a short stay. Would come here again for sure.

Great location close to the Sydney Convention Centre and Darling Harbour. Amenities are great with 2 level rooftop for catching up with friends over a few drinks on sunny afternoons, a quaint room with pressed metal ceilings and my room had an old fireplace (unusable I am sure) overlooking the street, and of course the pub downstairs. My only observations are: I wish they turned the fridge on before my arrival and there was no Wifi card in the room which would have saved me a phone call to get = no biggie! :)

The Dunkirk Hotel is a decent place to stay with some upsides and downsides. Starting with the positives, the rooms are pretty nice and well-maintained. Guests can expect a clean and comfortable stay. The hotel staff is friendly and accommodating, which can make a significant difference in the overall experience. The location of The Dunkirk Hotel is also convenient for travelers looking to explore the area. It's in a central location and offers easy access to various tourist attractions and restaurants. This is especially convenient for those who are visiting the city for the first time and need easy access to transportation. However, one major downside to The Dunkirk Hotel is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. This can be a significant issue during hot summer months, and guests may find themselves uncomfortable or unable to sleep well. While some guests may be able to tolerate the heat, it's something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to temperature or prefer cooler sleeping conditions. In summary, The Dunkirk Hotel has its pros and cons. The rooms are nice and well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and the location is convenient for those who want to explore the area. However, the lack of air conditioning may be a significant issue for some guests, especially during the summer months. Ultimately, it's up to each individual guest to decide whether the upsides of The Dunkirk Hotel outweigh the downside of no air conditioning.

To be clear this complaint is not about the refusal of service. This was wrong , because we were not a party of 4 as you state , we were a party of 3 with a late arrival whom we assisted your staff in removing from the premises and indeed, also told him not to order a drink for himself which your staff still served him. After his removal we were then refused service from the same staff member who served him a drink , even though he was intoxicated and we weren't. The real issue is that a staff member was asked if we could bring outside food in and he told us yes. After this , this food was consumed and more drinks were ordered , we were set straight on the rules and we apologised. Subsequently we were admonished again by your manager, that we should have known better , which added to the upset , as we have frequently consumed outside food at your premises in recent times and were not aware of the rules which is precisely why we asked permission. Uneducated staff is not our responsibility, it is yours. To be twice told off was really way beyond necessary. To then be cut off after a small number of drinks was ridiculous. Thanks for your response. It seems now we have to avoid the Quarryman's as well. Off to study the ownership of various hotels in Pyrmont.

First time visiting on the 5/9 and the staff and service were exceptional. The bartender and manager accommodated a walk in party of 8 so efficiently and provided a great place to sit and timely drinks and food. The bartenders service was beyond exceptional. The manager came around and provided a great chat provided a personal environment + free drinks which was amazing. All in all best service and pub I have been to 10/10

I flew into Sydney from Melbourne for an awards night so I was searching for a hotel near Darling Harbour. The Dunkirk turned out to be the perfect location with only a 15 min walk to the venue. Kenny and the staff were friendly and made me feel very welcomed (even remembering my award event and congratulating me on my win!) The rooms were clean and I felt very safe there as a solo traveler. I would highly recommend the Dunkirk hotel and look forward to staying again in the future.

Great location and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Massive shout out to Ashlee who went above and beyond to help me out with taxi bookings and and generally awesome person. All staff were wonderful and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Dunkirk to anyone, especially those in the yachting industry that need a convenient place to access the super yacht marina. Short and cool walk across the Anzac Bridge, near to Glebe fish markets 😎.

The staff were absolutely brilliant. Very accommodating and nothing was ever an issue. Special mention to Ashley and Himanshu. We have never felt so welcome. We also wish to say a big thank you to Kenny who was also very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely stay at the hotel again on a visit to Sydney and would recommend it to friends and family. Well done guys. You smashed it.

Really enjoyed my stay at The Dunkirk Hotel. It was the perfect spot to stay whilst in Sydney and such a lucky find over NYE. The city centre is a short walk over the Darling Harbour Bridge and there a lots of amenities close by. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and the staff have been amazing and no ask is too big. Would definitely stay here again if I visit Sydney again!

Wonderful pub stay. Nice food, reasonably priced. Bedding fantastic, shared bathroom fairly average (no soap holders, bit grungy, usual pub stay expectrd standard :). Coffee and tea making in room with biscuits. Only one cup but staff gave us an extra paper cup :). Great blind-out blinds, good ceiling fan, windows that open... didn't seem to noisy for sat and sun night. Staff super friendly and helpful. Will certainly come again if given the opportunity. Price is great for sydney area.
