Consistently a disappointing experience, I honestly thought after the dirty old bar was sold and renovated the only direction the Illy could go was up... but oh how wrong I was! While the original building was definitely in desperate need of a face lift it boasted a cozy floor plan and could have easily been modernized while keeping a relaxed, intimate mood. The new look is just cold and unappealing, even with 50 people in the room it feels empty and you can hear even an echo. And then there is the problem of the food. Apart from already having a very basic, boring pub style menu it's over priced and depending on the chef working that day often inedible. It might be the only option in the area but it still isn't worth your time.

Lovely clean and spacious place to come and eat, drink, laugh and good times. Big screens are awesome and should be shared in garden bar too be even better! Food was fast $15 for 1kg buffalo wings go off! Not too spicy not bland! Love the little container out front very nicely placed and functional. Grand final however a great vibe.. sorry to say long queues for drinks and food with only 3 bartenders! Honestly need to get that right for these big events. Good bunch of people nevertheless, friendly staff and patrons big personalities โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

The place looks great. It is super clean. The staff were very friendly. The food is good and the mozzarella sticks were great. We'll be back.

I felt inclined to leave a review. Went to watch the NBA game which was a big occasion as Lebron James was about to break the scoring record. Obviously we wanted to watch it and have the volume on for just the game but the bartender was rude and decline saying the music was on. It was an easy fix to change the volume but I could tell he has no interest in helping or changing. I enjoy coming to this pub as itโ€™s close by but if I see that bartender again Iโ€™ll walk the other way. I do also want to say the pub staff on other occasions have always been nice.

Positives: Guinness on tap, 15 dollar cocktails, large dog friendly beer garden for sports. Negatives: the food could be a little better. The wall of TV in the main bar is too much(if they put a bigger screen instead in the beer garden it would be much better) Overall: a great place to go for a drink especially when sports are on and with your furry friend. Not the best pub grub for dinner, Youngโ€™s hotels have a higher standard at some of their other pubs so Iโ€™m not sure whatโ€™s going on there. Itโ€™s ok though. Wings, chips etc go down well watching a game.

I go to the Illinois for Trivia nights and the staff are quite polite and welcoming. I just had a haircut and a nice brunette bartender chick complimented my haircut which I thought was nice. I love the steak skewers with crinkle cut chips. I like how the pub is always quiet when I'm there as I hate crowds. I've won vouchers at Trivia which I was stoked about as I got 5 free meals. So far. The pub looks nice and renovated and it's close to the bus stop. The menu needs some work though as I would love to see lasagna and Mac and cheese on there as a regular. It seems to get me back so they must be doing something right. Lol.

No ventilation in rooms, no windows To open, aircons are layered with dust and mould including fridge. Prepare to stay up all night itching and digesting dust and mould.

First time back after five years, and it's a welcome improvement from what it was before with good atmosphere, good food choices and well priced beer. What more can you ask for in Five Dock.... I know โ†’ how about starting renovations on the Five Dock hotel.

Nice space. Inside seats are way to low now its not a lap dance place. Food was over priced and very small portions

Excellent value for money. The rooms are clean, bathrooms clean and funky and exactly what you'd hope for in the price range. Will stay again!

Came here for Burgerhead, burgs were 10/10. But the atmosphere is a lacking, could do with some upbeat music or even pool tables to pull a bigger crowd. The renovations look nice, so much potential

It's ok to stay few days. Saw twice a little bug in the room which is part of life. Good blanket. Little sofa. I recommend

We stayed here after an Ed Sheeran concert, and were charged $344.00 for the night. The room was basic, however the doonas did not have covers on them and the room was dusty. The pillows were shocking too. The bathrooms and toilets were really grubby, with lots of hair in the drain and no soap or paper towel in the shared bathrooms. Room was also grubby and dusty. Would not recommend, particularly at the price point we were charged.

Nice Hotel. Showers and toilets outside the room. We knew it when it booked. If you know it beforehand, no issues. Nice service. Cassino downstairs for you to have some fun. Clean nice red carpet on the stairs that go up to the rooms.

Stayed here for 3 nights in December. Accommodation was great for the price! The room was nice and spacious and the shared bathrooms were always very clean. We also ate at the pub during our stay and the food was lovely.

My stay here was great, the service here tries the best they can to help, room service was very kind and efficient, and most importantly the place is extremely clean, i loved the showers and bathroom. And there was a woman that made a few very lovely coffees for me. The only problem i had was with the othere residents, i was startled in bed by someone bashing on a door somewhere and the walls were very thin. Other than that the place was great for emergency accommodation and i highly recommend.

Great burger and fries, went on a quiet night but can imagine it would be very busy on a game night, great outdoor area

Nice looking pub with great outside sitting, just donโ€™t order food unless you like waiting an hour.

Great staff, reasonably priced for Sydney. Would happily visit again. Only downside was it was pretty dead for a Saturday night

We tried their special of the week burger: The Mac Daddy - beef pattie, onion rings, maple bacon, and smashed mac'n'cheese. Its a mouthful and an indulgence but delicious. I'm looking forward to trying more...

Trivia on a Monday night is good fun - food is decent and plenty of space for younger kids to run around outside if needed as well. Parking is very tough though no matter when I've gone...
