This may be one of the most unfortunate experiences I've had with any hotel. I will start by saying the check-in experience and the rooms themselves were fine. As anticipated and as advertised, it was the service that ruined my stay. To start I was put in room 200 (never let them put you in this room). At 6am I heard the loudest, and most alarming noise that pulled me out of my jet-lagged sleep, only to realize I was sleeping under their gym - which opens at ...6am. I have no idea why any hotel would put a guest's room UNDER the gym, but alas here I was. I called the front desk, and they said they would "see what they could do" but confirmed I was under the gym. An hour later, the noises were louder than before so I called again and requested to switch rooms. The front desk attendant was quite rude about it, but ultimately switched me to a room one floor above all the way in the corner - which did not receive any Wifi. I did not complain or ask to switch rooms again, but this felt like a slight. As a solo, female, traveler of color, I did not feel welcomed here, they were not hospitable to me (despite being so to my male co-workers who were traveling with me). I would NEVER stay here again, or recommend it to anyone

If youā€™re looking for an impressive place to host your next work function/conference then please keep looking because this isnā€™t the place. All the rooms have the basic facilities that you require, itā€™s just not that impressive, the quality of the fit-out leaves a lot to be desired. The coffee facilities are very low budget and the snacks provided for morning and afternoon tea are very basic. The coffee machine ran out of water early and wasnā€™t refilled till late in the afternoon. The staff are not attentive to your needs. The buffet lunch is very average. Overall I wasnā€™t impressed with this venue Iā€™ve only given the stars that I have because if itā€™s convenient location the rest of the experience was way below par.

Great stay! Very convenient with the Sydney Brewery next door that has happy hour from 4 - 6pm each day with $5 schooners and wine and they also have $10 cocktails between 7 - 9pm each day. They need to ditch the buffet breakfast in these Covid times though. Ordering fresh would be much better.

    1. There is no proper shower door (be prepared to mop up a floor full of water after youā€™re done) 2. The small rack in the shower to keep soap gets in your way and you might hit it with your elbow. Wrong placement 3. Thereā€™s coffee but no creamer available (I canā€™t seem to figure out why) 4. The hot water is not regulated so itā€™s difficult to get the right temperature when showering (you either burn or freeze yourself) 5. Parking per day is $55 which I feel is ridiculously overpriced 6. The hotel stay price per night is also too pricey 7. There is no free breakfast for guests. A lousy meal costs $25 which doesnā€™t make sense. The 7/11 nearby has much better quality foods and coffee.

Our family of 5 stayed for 4 nights in interconnecting rooms on level 8. The rooms and decor were lovely with comfy beds. The indoor Pool and spa was a big hit for our kids. Room Service great. Lovely buffet breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Kids were greeted with a showbag on arrival and a kinder surprise on departure. The only reason I didnā€™t give it 5 stars was our room wasnā€™t ready at check in and we waited a little over an hour. In saying that, it was a full house over Easter and we were given drink vouchers for the bar next door while we waited. Other than that our stay was perfect. I would 100% stay again. Thank you Rydges for a wonderful Easter break.

Stayed here a couple of nights while on vacation with my family. Money was well spent. Arrived and rooms were absolutely impeccable. House keeping staff went above and beyond and attended to our requests. Kids enjoyed their stay here and made use of the pool. Very convenient that there is a gym here as well. Food was amazing at the restaurant. Could not find any faults. Would definitely be staying here on our next trip to Sydney.

We spent a night here and it didnā€™t quite knock the socks off me but it wasnā€™t disastrous eitherā€¦ meh may be a better way to put my experience, the staff were great, friendly, courteous and helpful. The room was nice and clean. We enjoyed the pool and spa, the breakfast and the bar next door, so overall it was decentā€¦ the loss of stars was for the lack of remote control for the TV and when we advised them of this an hour later they had to be remindedā€¦ also the fact that there was hardly any coffee and all but 1 milk pod left in the fridge - attention to detail guysā€¦ also the bathroom is really cramped and not well thought out. The toilet holder digs into your side as you sit on the throneā€¦ could have been better but as I said not a disaster.

Stayed for 5 nights recently. Rooms were a bit outdated but enough for what we needed. The elevators can be quite frustrating depending on how busy other floors get- there were times we were waiting 3-4 minutes just for the elevator to come. My biggest frustration was the offering of the 'dusk to dawn' room service- I thought this was awesome, particularly as they offered one of my favourite foods. Unfortunately, the 3 times we tried to call we were told they were out of ingredients for practically the whole menu and were only doing margherita pizzas. I'd understand for a couple of nights, but being out of ingredients for the whole stay is very poor form for what the hotel charges for rooms.

Update: 3rd stay here and the experience is consistent. Staff are lovely, Sophie and the team are experienced, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. This is my preferred and recommended place to stay for business travel in the area. Noise can be an issue being where the hotel is but staff are always friendly and happy to help. A clean, safe, nice place to stay - thanks and will return

The facilities service is poor. There for event. Event was awesome. But venue shocking. air conditioning didnā€™t work well. Coffee terrible. Drink choices lacking. Limited opening hours for the one restaurant that did open briefly during our three night stay. Coffee shop in hotel never opened at all. Lighting in room poorly placed. No extra blankets or pillows. Exhaust fan doesnā€™t work. Air conditioner extremely loud and disturbing. No extra towels. No soap holder

Spacious, clean rooms, very good breakfast,. handy for transport. Staff helpful & friendly. A special thanks to Hans when our transport didnā€™t turn up to take us to the airport. There were a whole group of different people. She was amazing.. phoning taxi companies, chasing them & liaising with the taxi drivers when they got there to quickly get people to the airport. A credit to the hotel.

Location is great. Just minutes away from Central station, easy access to airport line. This is a great place for holding Conventions or meetings. The catering and service is fabulous. Nice food and friendly service.

Convenient located in Surry Hills just a couple of minutes walk from Central station and many great restaurants around the area. The rooms themselves are a little old - the locks were nearly detached off the doors. The beds were horrible and bad for your back and neck as it sinks in really deep. The lift was broken (on the weekend where the occupancy is at its highest levels?). The plusā€™ were that it has a brewery downstairs and a great breakfast with many options. Theyā€™re also facilitated with a pool + a temperature regulated jacuzzi spa!

Great location, only minutes away from central station, easily accessed as single female walking on own. Very friendly staff and breakfast was extremely good from usual cereals, bacon, eggs, to French pastries and pancakes

I stayed at this hotel at the end of July. It was a rush booking and I was able to get a great room for a reasonable price. Staff were amazing, the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the room beautiful. Room service was absolutely fantastic. I especially liked the eco friendly bathroom products. Highly recommend this hotel.

I enjoyed my 3 nights stay, the room was very clean and the bed persentation was perfect. The hotel was very handy for metro, bus and train to the airport. The staff were friendly, and the service at the breakfast was fantastic. I would book this hotel again without hesitation šŸ˜Š

Absolutely fantastic, could not fault it! I did an exhaustive amount of research leading up to our one night stay, and am so glad I did, as our stay was perfect. The location was excellent, an easy walk everywhere, the cleanliness was top notch, service and facilities absolutely fantastic, truly couldn't fault our stay. The rooms felt really spacious (we had 2 x single beds) , and a sitting area, a lovely personal touch having my name of the TV screen upon arrival šŸ˜€, there were movies in the cinema available to us, and the breakfast! Now let's talk about the breakfast, spectacular! And free! Everything was delicious, I could've kept eating and eating! šŸ˜‹ The fresh juice were amazing, all the hot dishes, pancakes, it just goes on and on. Will most definitely recommend this hotel, and hopefully stay again soon in the near future šŸ˜€ Thank you Rydges for being just so good at what you do šŸ‘

From the lobby, to the rooms, the staff, the food and overall room cleanliness, all of it was superb. The staff was very helpful with any questions or requests we had whether it was to housekeeping all the way to the front desk folks, It made our stay that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend. Thank you

I've had many pleasant stays at Rydges Central. Cleanliness of rooms are always squeaky clean! Very important due to severe eczema. Housekeeping staff were delightful and eager to help! Truly go above and beyond ! Thank you! Will definitely recommend to my family and friends.

The hotel deserves its fours stars. The staff is friendly and forthcoming, the rooms are spacious and very clean. It is also very commendable that the hotel offers a small mini-bar voucher if guests choose not to have their rooms serviced every day. Big kudos for that, a small incentive surely raises the amount of people taking the option, and it will greatly benefit the environment. However there are a few issues why I think this hotel does not deserve a top rating amongst it's 4-star peers: - The sauna is broken, and according to a fellow guest who has stayed there multiple times in the past, has been for a while. It doesn't get warmer than 50 degrees (a sauna should at least get 80 degrees). - The gym is a bit underwhelming, as there are only few training devices. Again, one devices seemed in disrepair (the rowing machine's strength couldn't be adjusted, and it has some screws sticking out the seat). - The hotel has a major road on one side, and windows are only single-glazed. I had a room that was close to the road and usually woke up quite early from the noise of the traffic. Form my point of view the sound insulation should be upgraded. On a side-note, it always bothers me that high-end hotels don't seem to have toilet brushes in their bathrooms. I get that they don't want to bother the guests with cleaning. Just because it is there doesn't mean a guest has to use it, but it gives them the option. I don't want to be faced with the consequences of my recent toilet visit every time I visit the bathroom again. Especially if I can choose to forfeit my daily room servicing. And it would be a waste to get the whole room serviced just for that one stain.

Stayed here for a work conference and couldn't be happier. The staff were so friendly and the rooms a great size and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was delicious and had plenty of options. The facilities for the conference were fantastic and the whole overall experience was effortless from a customer's point of view.

What a treat. Comfortable very clean rooms. Staff were excellent they and always had a smile. The food was to die for, plus the wine list was very good, everything was really way better than was expected. We will go back for romantic dirty weekends

Incredible Staff, always helping out and bringing happiness to customers. Highly recommended. A special mention to Maddy and Lauren who always go out of their way to assist with requests during my frequent stays. Keep up the great work :)

This is my favorite place to stay. The reason is thereā€™s a brewery on the ground floor and they do 4-6 pm $5 happy hour. When I first started at there I didnā€™t even know that they got a brewery on the very last day I discovered it and quickly grabbed 4 can and itā€™s amazing their cider and IPA šŸŗ are unbeatable!!! Since then when I stay at Sydney I choose this place because of the brewery ! They have changed their logo and design. It looks very nice :)

Room was spacious, buffet breakfast was great, pool/spa was excellent! Only downside is parking can get a bit expensive, but we expected that being in the city. Otherwise we had a lovely stay and the staff were great, we arrived earlier than expected and they got our room ready as soon as they could. ā˜ŗļø Some maintenance/upgrades could be done on parts of the rooms though (bathroom mainly)

First time staying in a hotel in 7 years! I'm glad we picked this one. The rooms were spacious and clean, easy check-in, friendly staff and the room service breakfast we had was delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because I found the price for parking was a little expensive ($48 per night). It would be nice if members received a discount on parking rates. Other than that, I'd definitely go back again.

Booked 2 rooms with our friends, arrived for check in at 1:40pm. Got told only one room was ready so we needed to wait. Itā€™s now 4:20pm, and our room is still not ready when the hotel checkin policy is 2pm?!?? We have dinner plans at 5pm and our plans have now been delayed because we canā€™t unpack shower and get dressed. Have called reception multiple times and I get told that theyā€™re checking up on our room. We are forced to sit with our friends in their room and invade their personal space because our room is still not ready over 2 hours later.

Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience at the Rydges in Surry Hills. I paid good money for a 2 night stay, and we found that the shampoo and conditioner bottles were not replaced from the previous occupants of the room. Our in-house movies didn't work initially, but credit to hotel reception, this was fixed a little later after some prompting and despite a maintenance person saying that he couldn't fix the problem. I also was not told that parking in the hotel carpark would be charged at a rate of $44 per day, so I was slapped with a $150 charge at the end of my stay for parking. Staff were lovely, but I can't say that I would stay here by choice again.

Our stay was ruined by rude party goers next door who kept going until 2.30am - there was atleast 3 groups in the room which isnā€™t allowed after 10pm. I called reception who came up once to ask them to quiet down, which they just ignored. He should have asked them to leave and waited for them to go, but he just left them to it. Hopeless. This was after paying $30 for an updated to ā€˜ a quieter area of the hotelā€™ ā€¦. Room and hotel location is great, but no sleep ruined it.

A great hotel no doubt with clean rooms. However issues with the following: 1. On checking in, they could not take a deposit for the mini bar with a credit card tap from the phone, so they emptied the mini bar. 2. They do not provide you with Priority Guest Rewards points if you have booked with your travel agent, in spite of confirming the link to my booking and my email at the time of checking in. May skip Rydges altogether next time.

Nice hotel. Large room. They refused to clean the room for our 4 day stay because of covid- glad i wasnt staying for 2 weeks! . Tried to get a coffee in their dining room and was told i would have to buy a buffet breakfast for $29 as they didn't allow coffee on its own. Overall its a pleasant hotel but let down a bit by customer service.
