Great location in Chinatown, which makes it so easy to go around by tram, train, or foot. Heaps of good places to eat! Easy to walk to the train then go to the airport. The room was clean and spacious with a kitchenette for cooking. Friendly reception and we were able to check in early. They lose a star because I booked a room with a tub but didn’t get it, but no big deal. Will stay here again.

Pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the stay was. Front desk- super friendly and helpful. Room was minimal but in good shape. The treats they left for me (and card) are greatly appreciated. Some of the nicest brands in the Accor family miss the mark when it comes to welcoming members in… not the Mantra Sydney Central. To the team: thanks for a nice stay! See you again in the near future.

A perfect location. Near Paddy's Market. Near China Town. A few steps away from Darling Square. The room was quite spacious. The bed was big enough. The room and bathroom was clean and modern. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are small and not well maintained or clean. Mould in shower, bathroom had a funky smell. Hangers in closet had bent hooks and hard to get out. Convenient location but very noisy at night. Entrance is hard to find hidden behind other store fronts. If staying here recommend a higher floor to try to escape street noise. In room kitchenette but VERY small and not pots or pans. On site restaurant but serves more as an Asian food takeaway only in evening hours.

This hotel is so tired, and so are the beds and facilities. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment and the single beds looked like hammocks. The support had died a few decades ago and they were most uncomfortable. Kitchen facilities were almost non-existent - not even a sharp knife… The Smeg dishwasher didn’t work - the panel was missing, and it also had died long ago. We set it off, but the alarming noise it made caused us to turn it off again. Reception staff were great. They have to work very hard to promote positivity to customers staying in a dive. The whole place is so rundown. Location however is great.

Dusty and dirty bathroom, quilt has stains on it. I wish I could upload photos… Poor sound proofing. Not much view or daylight could be seen throughout the windows you could see only the walls and balconies of the next building. Convenient location tho. Won’t visit again.

Good location and friendly staff. Actually struggling to say anything positive beyond that. Room was ok, nice size but the is a constant noise from the ventilation. Furniture and decor has all seen better days. Needs modifications and just generally worn, outdated and past it's best. First time in this area of Sydney so can't complain. Chosen because of the Mantra name which I've stayed with Mantra many time before so was expecting more. Pleased its only a few nights so will make do.

Many problems while staying at this place. The room was a decent size, however was generally not clean, especially within the bathroom. Some areas had mould and rust and is was just overall unappealing to the eye. The space between the toilet and the wall was so small that you had to sit sideways while using it, only really short people would be able to use it normally. There were other unidentifiable stains on the roof too. Probably the only hotel I've been to where they don't service the room at all despite the price paid for the room, only on request and it was very expensive (extra $30 per day). The beds were uncomfortable, and there was a bit of noise outside (although I admit there's nothing the hotel itself can do about this). The phone in the room woke us up many times in the middle of the night, and no explanation was ever given to who or why we were called so late at night. The only really good thing about this hotel was the location within the city, close proximity to Chinatown light rail stop, Darling Harbour and the World Square shopping centre. Otherwise, probably wouldn't stay here again.

It was so awful. The staff did try everything to make my stay better, and I thank them for that, but If I had known how bad it would be, I would never have signed up for the small cramped self catering unit. I was so depressed here. Had a room for 2 weeks. It's meant to be self-catering for 1 person or 2. The kitchen area was so tiny that you could only do 1 thing at a time, so cook, then after cleaning, there was no drying rack or space to put dishes. You have to put dishes on the place you just cooked! They give you a toaster, but there is no space to put it, so you end up making toast on the floor! The room was facing the main street, and all the noise came through thin windows. I couldn't sleep at all. I ended up taking the mattress to the small lounge area and lived like that for 2 weeks. I felt like a homeless person. There wasn't adequate facilities to work, there was a table and 4 chairs but the chairs are high chairs so you can't sit and work comfortably on it, I needed up just going into the office each day. The smell in the evenings. I'm sorry, I like a good old Chinese takeaway now and then, but coming home every night and having that smell hit you in the face for 2 weeks is terrible. Was so glad to see the back of that place. Again, staff were tremendous! Can't fault then for trying, but this place is NOT suited for a long stay, and the self-catering place I was in was not suited for this. Can't believe it's cost $3000 for 2 weeks. Mentals, far better facilities out there for cheaper.

This hotel is being used as a Quarantine Hotel at time of writing, I found the service from the staff to be great, food was ok, not brilliant but good, the rooms are great. I think alot of other guests complain to much about nonsense, not sure what they expect coming back to Australia during a pandemic. It's not a prison it's a great hotel. Enjoy the time

Rooms have had a recent modernisation so they’re quite nice. Bathrooms are a bit older maybe. But it’s not a bad place, a bit of an awkward entrance at times and can get lost in the shops. Otherwise staff were friendly and helpful. Not a bad spot either within the CBD. A tram stop right outside.

A cheap hotel in the center of Sydney CBD. George St right outside with access to trains and trams. Lots of good restaurants around and close to the Capitol Theatre, Market City and the ICC. Room was spacious with a super comfy bed. Shower was good but could have had a little more pressure and heat 🤪

We enjoyed our stay at Mantra Sydney Central - quite a convenient location to all major Sydney attractions! What stood out was the service we received from the lovely Jessie and Georgia at the reception. We were in Sydney celebrating some special occasions and they prepared a note and little gift for our room, and even followed up to ask us about how everything went at check out. Really kind and friendly gals that we will remember! Thanks guys! 🤗

The location of this place is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of George Street. While the rooms might be quaint and on the smaller side, the central location more than compensates for it. The photos showcase a cozy 1-bedroom "apartment," and the check-in process is a breeze. Don't forget to leverage the perks by ensuring you get your points and signing up with Accor for a free membership. It sounds like a convenient and strategic choice for those wanting to be at the epicenter of the city's action.

Our room was very dated and needed a revamp. The softfurniture was badly stained and looked dirty. The bathroom was dated and tiling grout was dirty, needed redoing or at least a good clean. One shelf in fridge was absolutely filthy and a health hazard. It had not been cleaned in a very long time. Bed linen was clean. We requested a quiet room on check in and it was relatively quiet considering this central city location although tram could still be heard even over noise of air conditioning. Staff were polite and very helpful. Location of hotel is very near Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. Tram is just outside. I think hotel owners could revamp old rooms and replace carpets in corridors to give guests a cleaner Sydney Centre experience. I would not stay here again and definetly would not recommend this hotel.

My stay at Mantra Sydney Central was a disappointing experience. The rooms were poorly maintained, and the bathroom, along with the towels, had a persistent unpleasant odor. The overall lack of cleanliness and indifferent customer service left me frustrated and regretting my choice of accommodation.

Hi Tate, Kim and Boris, thank you very much for working through the odds to make our stay pleasant here ..you have definitely kept the repo intact for me, so I look forward to returning Mantra as always. It's very important for me that I am taken care for my needs be it be noise free room, a proper kitchen...or a Parking space. I recommend to all if they need ease of transport...wanna be at the heart of the city, and yet be very comfortable.....with very humble team helping to make your stay awesome...Mantra is the place to be! Thank you once again...also from my little Bubba who slept so well this morning & the afternoon...

Don’t use their car park if you want to leave early! Or at least check car park hours first. I did not (I assumed was 24hr access) stuck until 8am to leave on Saturday morning, with important places to be. Other than that great motel, great & friendly staff, great location.

Alright place to stay for a night or two, a bit expensive. The bathroom wasn't that clean and the air conditioning was loud. Loud location but good close in the city.

Overall good experience. Front desk lobby staff are polite. Easy check-in and check-out. Double queen studio is tidy. Level 3 balcony overlooking George Street is great for people watching but trams & din are noisy and the area itself is narrow and small. Bathroom is tired and fixures need tightening with an allen key - bathroom could do with an update. Bed was comfortable and firm. No room service cleaning or bed make-up as this is an extra cost(?). Someone from the hotel has left the door ajar during the day as I checked it was locked when left the room in the morning (a lamp was being replaced). Luckily nothing was taken. Hotel is right on the doorstep of Haymarket Chinatown with lots of food and drink options. You must try the custard puffs from Emperors.

Great central location to amazing restaurants, shopping and public transport. Perfect place for an overnighter. Wouldn’t stay 5 days again. Bathroom dated and too high of a step into shower. Found it weird there wasn’t an information folder for guests outlining the facilities if they were offered. Staff were extremely helpful and resolved any issue immediately. Thank you

I recently stayed at the Sydney Central Mantra after watching a show at the Captial Theatre. The location is very convenient and easy to get to. The room I stayed in was lovely, bed was comfy, facilities were clean and staff on reception were lovely. Only thing to keep in mind if you're a light sleeper like me is that the light rail can be quite noisy and I woke up a couple of times during the night with the sound of the trams coming through.

Me and my two children stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks hotel quarantine. The room was very spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the facilities were all funtctioning properly. The staff was very helful. My children got amazed when they were sent a jigsaw puzzle and some friday treats. That kept going them for the rest of the quarantine period. The thing that surprised me most is, when my birthday fell on in a day during the stay, the hotel staff send us cup cakes with my name on it and a small gift as well. That is something I was never expecting during a hotel quarantine stay. So hats off to the staff, who were very much considerate and caring !!!

Very centrally located with everything at your doorstep. Room is clean and spacious and seemed mildly renovated. The trundle bed needs looking at as the springs are very loose and the mattress sagged and can cause back problems if used multiple nights. Parking is across the road at $40 a night and they take a $100 deposit. Overall a nice stay

Comfortable room and friendly staff. On the first floor facing the tram tracks, the tram was definitely audible, but I didn’t find it disruptive at all. Good blackout curtains probably help deaden the noise too. Hotel is a bit old, but clean.

I booked this centrally located hotel just right before an early morning departure out of SYD airport. Within 10 minutes walking distance you reach Sydney Central to catch the train to the airport. I was positively surprised about the design of the room and their welcome treats! Staff was friendly and I would book this hotel again!

Cleans and spacious. Excellent location and it is right at the Center of Chinatown. Plenty of eateries nearby, darling harbour is within walking distance. Tram station right in front of the George street exist. Train station is within 7 minutes walking distances. The price is reasonable considering the location in Sydney.

Room was lovely but the bathroom was another thing all together. Absolutely no space for you legs when you use the toilet. Had to shuffle in sideways to even sit on it. Was absolutely horrible and have never seen any motel like it! For this reason alone would never stay here again or even recommend it to anyone!

Whilst the hotel itself is clean enough & the staff super friendly; the trams are extremely noisy and run up till midnight. This unfortunately makes it difficult to score the hotel any higher. Suggestion: double or triple glaze the windows- it is virtually impossible to try & get to sleep with all the noise. Sheets do not fit the beds either - too short & terrible pillows.

  • 4/5 Po F. 1 year ago on Google
Staff were friendly. The room I had was not spacious but cosy with electric convention cooking space, microwave and kettle. You really no need a restaurant in the hotel, because it's in the middle of the Chinatown with a lot of restaurants and Darling Harbour is only minutes on walk.

  • 3/5 Julieann M. 1 year ago on Google
Location was fantastic. Tram stop right out the front of the hotel and central station located about 5-10 minutes walk. The beds were comfortable and it was nice to have a balcony to open for natural air. Although all the sheets and towels were clean, the bathroom was not. Mould in the shower and the bathroom floor was not swept / mopped properly - there were hairs and dust in all corners. Although only serviced weekly, the staff were helpful whenever we needed it.

  • 4/5 Keith N. 1 year ago on Google
Great location, but the room was quite annoying to stay in with a 1.5 year old child who was somehow tall enough to turn all the light switches on/off, open doors etc. These door knobs and and light switches were super low to the ground compared to standard. They were also out of beer. The service was good at the front desk, but no one came to empty our bins or replace toilet paper etc during the 4 night stay, so we had to keep coming down for more / taking out bins ourselves which isn't something we've had to worry about before. There was also no bath mat, so the bathroom got very wet after our showers.

We stayed here for hotel quarantine. The staff were exceptional. All our requests were met very quickly. We are looking forward to staying here in normal times! The photo is the view from our balcony (room 1603).
