A very uninspiring poorly designed lounge with a spec selection of food at breakfast time they don't even have eggs! I've never been to a lounge anywhere in the world that doesn't serve eggs and bacon or at least eggs. The lounge is crowded and due to its design even know if do get natural lighting, you can't see out to the Tarmac unless you stand up. It's crowded and there's no priority entry and question to get any food or drinks, and has a long way to go for the a reasonable lounge

I had an unfortunate experience with a Virgin Airlines employee, Margaret, at the airport. Her unwelcoming demeanor and lack of professionalism greatly tarnished my first experience with Virgin Airlines. I faced confusion and additional charges regarding check-in luggage due to her poor communication and lack of assistance. My role as a travel nurse, carrying flu and Covid vaccines in a specialized container, necessitated particular attention to luggage weight. Margaret's unclear guidance on luggage weight restrictions caused unnecessary stress and wasted 20 minutes of crucial time repacking. This delay, coupled with Margaret's lackadaisical service, led to a missed baggage check-in deadline and forced rescheduling of my flight, causing more expenses $410 in total! Margaret was dismissive and unhelpful when I tried to report this incident, and her refusal to provide her full name and employee ID was both unprofessional and confrontational. I hope Virgin Airlines takes this complaint seriously, conducts an investigation, and addresses the deficiencies in service, ensuring that all staff members uphold professionalism and customer service standards.

Great lounge for Virgin frequent flyers. Food options are varied depending on the time of the day. There will always be a salad bar with ingredients to make a toasted sandwich and from 11am onwards there’s always soups to choose from that are really great. Many days there will be special items available to choose from such as fish and chips, mezze options with hummus and more. The lounge is spacious and if it gets to capacity they have the option of opening a second floor which they do often. Just wish they had sriracha in the lounge.

What a ridiculous lounge. Always filled up with people… no space to sit They should not call this a lounge. It is rather an overcrowded waiting area The regularly lower quality customer service is another issue in this so called lounge

Nov-21: like the new menu, lounge is very quiet and service is still excellent Very covid safe. We entered via my amex platinum charge and it was painless and no physical contact (just tap and show). Doppio espresso was spot on, but flat white was a bit weak. The lounge capacity is much lower than pre covid, and food is served by an attendant. Loved the double ham, double cheese and Dijon toastie so much went back for seconds. Fruit is fresh and so is the museli and yoghurt. Can't recommend this lounge enough. Was in the Qantas business lounge a few months ago, and the food here is better (in my opinion), will see how the Qantas business lounge stacks up in a few months time!

Virgin lounge sydney you can hold your head high. The staff, food, service and drinks were all amazing. The place was very clean, with staff always around to collect dirty plates and glasses. The wifi was fast and free. The food was so delicious, fresh and a great selection. They have a rule that no alcohol before 12pm, which honestly is great. Cannot wait to visit here again soon.

What a dump. Full to capacity and then some Wife is nearly 30 weeks pregnant think anyone would give her a seat. Nope. Had to do a few laps before a table came free. Food was chicken curry and mostly an amalgamation of people coughing and sneezing or simply gobbing up in the toilet.

7.30pm flight to Brisbane was cancelled and cancelled and finally not cancelled. Virgin had 2 people behind the desk to assist 200plus people find a new flight. No offer of accomodation if unable to fly out tonight. Virgin booked me on a later flight (which has been delayed again) and transferred my bags to this new plane so I cant cancel my flight with virgin and fly with another carrier. Due to all the delays I have missed the air train which means I have to get a cab home, say goodbye to another $150. This holiday trip has now blown financially out of proportion. I understand that emergency’s happen, I became frustrated when I felt the situation could have been handled more effectively

This is a spacious frequent flyer lounge at SYD airport. During my stay in the morning was very busy, but I could find a place to sit down. To be honest, the food options were very basic, with e.g. scrambled eggs, potato croquettes and pancakes to be offered. And this food wouldn’t win any awards. Especially the croquettes were awful tasting! Drinks were ok. Coffee was freshly prepared by staff members upon request at the buffet area. To sum up, I can say that I made an average experience in this lounge only.

Honestly, this place is very disappointing. Went in the morning prior to an early flight and not only were the floors absolutely filthy but the food was inedible. And this is coming from someone who is not a fussy eater. Hard to believe the breakfast menu doesn’t serve eggs or bacon…not something that’s hard to source. Only good thing here is the pastry, coffee is ok. In summary, no. Skip this and join the commoners outside instead.

Amazing service! Kudos to the staff of VA 977 on 30 July. Extra friendly and accommodating. It was not an easy flight with a kid screaming the whole way. The staff made sure to offer any and every assistance to the family and the kid while remaining calm and patient. They continued to display this beautiful attitude to everyone on the plane despite the obvious challenge they had at had.

Chairs were dirty. Floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. Minimal food options. The answer to vegan options was: "I think this salad is vegan and our soup is pretty much vegan, it just has fish sauce". I felt ill after the salad. Overall disappointed as I had higher expectations being in Sydney. 2 stars were given for the layout being nice and open/ bright.

Overall the lounge is quite nice comfy seats, good enough space and TVs. Selection of beverages could be wider and there are no bins they expect for staff to clean it up and they try but there's simply not enough staff

My flight was delayed 90 mins and was able to upgrade to business class. Being last flight out, plenty of room and very quiet. Some food options as well as a bar. It was a pleasant experience to just sit, relax, have a drink and wait for my flight

This is the Virgin lounge at Sydney domestic airport. Pretty good as lounges go, with a number of different areas to sit. Including high benches and lower casual seating. As you'd expect offers coffees in the morning and booze in the afternoons, with the demand for both generally high, same for the food. Gets quite busy at peak times, so not the most peaceful compared to more exclusive lounges.

Need to walk a few stairs to the lounge. The receptionist was cheerful. I came here twice at lunchtime in a week. Very busy. Similar settings and food sections (food & drink selection) to other Virgin lounges in Australia. Have pasta but rather mushy here, not very attractive. More chips, cheese, and snack options. The spicy soup, which had different ingredients in 2 days, was really good. Staff can make Latte art. The toilets & showers were also clean but a bit old. There is hand cream in the toilets. One escalator only to all gates.

The worker for the bag drop was very helpful and nice and let our family go through the assisted security which had a shorter line.

Flying from Melbourne back home to Sydney on VA852 back on Monday 7/8/23 I had a very pleasant flight, that was made especially great due to 2 of the flight attendants, particularly the head attendant Tyler [staff member 2312 I think?- I asked!! ] and one lovely woman called Chrissie, who just made the flight pleasant, checked on anyone needing help as they should, but were practical and straightforward when I got trapped away from the toilets for we economy muggles by the refreshment trolley - and gave me access to the gold-plated business toilet to save the wait. Generally just gave this sky bus a good vibe. Thanks guys; you made a mundane trip into a joy.

They provide bargain bin service for full fare price. They also can’t seem to get a plane off the ground on time with any regularity. Fully 75% of my flights with them have been delayed by half an hour or more. They say they’re all due to “weather” though. If you have anything important to do when you get where you’re going you need to fly up a day early because you will miss your appointment if you expect Virgin to get you anywhere when they say they will. And another delay. That’s five out six flights this week. If Virgin isn’t most unreliable airline in the world I’d be shocked to see a worse one function. I ended the week with 6 out of 8 flights delayed. Excellent work there Virgin.

It was a good and spacious lounge! Receptions were cheerful and efficient, food selection is okay, but the best part is the selection of different seating arrangements. We’ll be back!

When you arrive early to the airport after a busy work trip, it's always lovely to relax in the Virgin Lounge and get on top of emails, and book your next trip flying Virgin Airlines. Lovely staff, and a great selection of nibbles and refreshments.

Was returning from a family trip to Queensland from Perth, every virgin lounge there and back the staff was fine letting my wife and my 9 and 8 yr old boys into the lounge, ( my AMEX lets me and one guest in ) apart from the Sydney one at 4pm on Monday the 11th, who lied and said they don't admit children. We were only in Sydney for a 1.5hr stop over, really poor service, hope the guy in charge enjoyed his little power trip

I recently had the privilege of flying with Virgin Australia, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped into the airport, I was met with a seamless and efficient check-in process. The cabin crew's professionalism and warmth truly set the tone for the entire journey. The in-flight amenities were top-notch, providing a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience. The entertainment options kept me engaged throughout the flight, and the quality of the meals served was impressive. The attention to detail and the commitment to passenger comfort were evident in every aspect of the flight. What truly stood out, though, was the genuine care the staff demonstrated. They went above and beyond to ensure that every passenger's needs were met, creating an atmosphere of comfort and reassurance. This level of service truly sets Virgin Australia apart. In a world where air travel can sometimes be a hassle, Virgin Australia has managed to maintain a standard of excellence that is truly commendable. I wholeheartedly recommend Virgin Australia to anyone seeking a superior flying experience.

Good service, reasonable food choices. Nice wine and bubbly albeit limited choices, but what there was was good enough. Ditto for beers. The food was very fresh and tasty. Wait staff cleaned up our tables regularly, and serving staff were friendly. Facilities were clean. No complaints from me at all.

Amiable staff and a variety of sandwiches and food. Limited range of beers to choose from, but they are adequate. The coffee was made perfectly and was good.

Generally very lack-lustre compared to other airlines. In my experience they: 1. Have apathetic staff 2. Very limited selection of food and beverages 3. They won't allow you to change a channel on their televisions, or screencast to it, based on some rule that made no sense 4. Seating is more focussed on how many people they can seat, versus how comfortable the seating is 5. Cleaning carts abandoned covered in dirty dishes and a bin full of food waste. Unacceptable. Enough so, that while I may fly again with Virgin, I would rather pay to have access to another lounge. This is my experience, and my own subjective appraisal, yours may differ.

Wasted my pass on this. Over full, no powerpoints at the tables, poor food selection. I'm intolerant to brewer's yeast (in wine and beer) so I asked the man at the bar for a vodka soda. He signalled mutely with his head to the other bartender so I lined up again. When I asked if she had spirits, she said "what?" So I asked for vodka. She said "what" again and again until I was practically shouting vodka. So embarrassing. Finally when I said loudly "gin", "whisky" she understood. I understand the desire to have multi lingual staff but they should speak English too. I haven't been in a lounge for a number of years but they used to serve spirits...?

Nice to go somewhere and just relax. Hot meals are nice, especially love the soups. I'd love it if there were some sweets rather than just cheese and crackers to finish things off.

Great service from a good team, especially those doing tidying up, and it's a lovely space. Decent enough dining selection and bar for a domestic lounge, but self-service tea, with no mugs, and a lack of any dessert options knocks a star off for me. Also the gate calls were a bit sporadic, and the gate was called well over 45 mins before the incoming flight landed... so left a bit prematurely! Better advice on the boards, and some indication of the walking distance to the far gates (39+) would be helpful.

Great place to chill (or work 😉) before getting on your flight. Beware the peak hours as the lounge can get full. Be sure to check around every corner as the lounge is quite big and when it gets really busy they open the second floor!

Perfect place to grab some nibbles, drink some wine and relax before your flight. This the first Virgin ran lounge I’ve visited and I’m throughly impressed. The staff were friendly, caring and welcoming. Will definitely be booking business again!

  • 1/5 Gavin W. 1 year ago on Google
Sad to see the standard of the lounge has gone from bad to worse. Only soup and egg wrap with plain tortilla chips no salsaor dips as a meal option today. No salads cheese and crackers or any crudits? Is the new owning company cutting cost and standards? Often no staff to clear tables and today no exception.
