I've been in many pubs over the years. The Lewisham hotel was easily the worst. The first warning sign was the pub being completely empty on a Friday evening except for a couple of people in the pokies. It's also the only time I've left nearly a full beer due to it being undrinkable. It smelt like urine, and probably tasted worse. To add insult it was a lot more expensive than other pubs. Never again.

I agree with Nick, the beer at this pub is horrible. We returned them, and ended up tasting three different beers on tap, and all were nasty tasting. Staff don't care, or know it's bad. Don't include it in your inner west train pub crawl.

The female event coordinator (Josephine) was explicitly biased towards patrons and abrasive upon arrival. Searches were commenced that I found inappropriate. Josephine would not allow patrons that purchased tickets to leave the venue and re-enter. Josephine would not allow people to take a momentary exit despite obvious overcrowding within the venue. There was an initial metal screening and search of patrons before entering the venue. I personally have never experienced such explicit racism. I highly recommend that BIPOC people steer clear of this venue and explore other options. Josephine was hostile and expressed problematic views. There are plenty of inclusive venues that I recommend you explore.

Worst pub I’ve ever stepped into! The only good thing about our short lived visit was walking out. The owner was rude, arrogant and borderline intimidating. The drinks we brought were disgusting and the service even worse! The first red flag should’ve been we were the only people there on a Saturday night! The tables were all knocked over and thrown around outside and the place smelt like rats and sewage.

This place had 5 stars so I thought I’d check it out for lunch only to find the place deserted and the bistro closed. A sign out the front might have been useful. Not a staff member is sight at 1.30pm on a Thursday 🤷🏻‍♀️😩

Every Thursday for the last couple of years, the Louis Hotel, Lewisham in Sydney has hosted an open mic stand up comedy night. Usually the entire crowd is made up boozing open mic colleagues. All looking for than elusive laugh. Most do their bits to the silence of the room. The pub is pretty old style and I’m sure some Multinational is keeping an out to rip the 1970s guts from the pub. It would a great pity as ambience is one of utterly laid back, no nonsense, take no sh1t old Sydney style hotel (pub). If you’re not from Australia the name ‘Hotel’ can and is mistaken for what the word ‘Hotel’ actually means to the rest of the planet, a hotel is where you stay when travelling or on holiday (vacation). Some pubs (hotels) do offer rooms but that’s generally known as ‘accomodation’. So the open mic Thursday bash is great. Rarely a laugh but hey if you want to get stand up experience you have to learn how to eat sh1t. Sometimes a cohort of woke comics will gasp at usually what I consider a funny comedian. So it takes all sorts. You can get food. Beer. Water. Play pokies. Smoking/vape area out the back next to the gamblers paradise. Street parking. Nevertheless, the open mic comic community is very strong at the Louis Hotel. Called Crown Comedy and open to all funny suckers every Thursday from around 7pm. Good place for a first date. Gives you that ‘quirky’ tag on a date. My open mic stand up career lasted barely 15 months and I sure ate a lot of sh1t at the Louis Hotel. Good fun.

A quiet place for quiet people. Mostly on Thursdays they have musical or comedy nights with happy hour drinks until 7pm.

I don't leave a lot of reviews. My running club ended up here after an event. Despite the late hour, he staff were super friendly and accommodating. The kitchen was open, food prices were exceptionally reasonable and as a very pleasant surprise, the food - a Fijian Chicken Curry - was exceptional. This is a hidden gem!

A cute , dinky little pub in the heart of Lewisham with all the basics: small pokie lounge, dining/entertainment area and lovely small outdoor area with beautiful handwoven art pieces and arto-deco led lighting on the walls. Open plan kitchen serves good food and Friday night kareoke sessions are a highly. Recommend if you're ever in the area.

I was only in the front bar so didn't get the full experience. We were made to feel welcome and service was fine. It has a limited beer selection and the atmosphere was lacking as it was empty. Might be ok for large sport event.

Food is amazing. Had an event in the back room recently and Josephine went to every effort to make it an impressive night for everyone.

Great live podcast on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s: Uncensored @ The Louis. It’s like an open forum where anyone can have a yarn on any subject matter. Hilarious, engaging and insightful discourse. Liquor store is always open later than all the other local bottle shops, which is convenient for shift workers like me. Staff are friendly & always make me feel welcome.

A great place with friendly atmosphere. Great stay and events. I attended the open mic night and had a go at doing my bit. A good selection of food as well.
