This place is recently opened in my neighbourhood and today finally I gave it a go. The owner/chef is by himself therefore the food might take a while to be ready. He is quite kind and has a positive attitude which I really appreciated. Service is friendly and menu has great selections. We ordered an item from each menu section just to give everything a try. Chicken karaage as a entree, a small grilled salmon sushi and a chasu tonkotsu ramen for mains. When we came at about 5.30, the owner was busy cooking for an online order so it took him a few minutes to greet us. After ordering, it seemed that our food took a little long to cook so he kindly offered a free dish of steam gyozas to keep us happy. Shortly after the gyozas came, our mains are also ready. The tonkotsu broth is just average but the chasu is soft and tender with good flavours. The grilled salmon nigiri was fantastic, very flavourful and sushi rice was perfectly cooked. The tuna sushi roll was good as well. Please check them out if you’re around and you won’t be disappointed! I’ll come back to try out their other sushi menus.

Don’t be fooled by the understated signage and decor of Siansiam. We gave it a go one time and were blown away by the taste, size and quality of the sushi that we ordered for takeaway. It was honestly one of the best sushi rolls I had ever had! The restaurant is run by one guy alone and he’s also the chef – he’s Burmese and is working 7 days a week to try and keep the place afloat. Please support this local gem to ensure he sticks around in Marrickville!

Went to this place on the 19th of June cos we thought we’d give it a try since it’s just opened. We were so impressed with the quality of sushi and the size of it too! Good value for money - the servings are BIG! will definitively come back for more!

The sushi take away was a disappointment. Size was big but taste was bland. The rolls looked aged. The sashimi wasnt cut through to pieces. There was a plastic leaf in the sashimi. The wasabi came in plastic sachets and had a tough consistency that could not easily be dissolved in the soy sauce. I couldnt finish the food unfortunately. Im sorry.

Wow, I’ve been to a lot of sushi restaurants in Sydney all over and I’ve got to say it’s one of the best sushi restaurant I’ve been to. The Siansiam roll was to die for!! A mix of crunch salt, savoury, fattyness, umami wow. The rest of the sushi crunchy prawn and double salmon was also great and was big in portion size. The eel don was fresh and there was a lot of eel, it was not stingy unlike other sushi restaurants. Very humble cook who takes orders and serves as well. He deserves the world. Wish to see this place get busier. Most people probably see the decor and turn away but honestly give this place a try and you won’t be disappointed!

Don't let the basic decor of the place fool you, the chef here puts his efforts and passion into all the dishes he serves. I've been coming here pretty much every Thursday night with a few mates and we always leave extremely satisfied and confused as to why the place isn't busier (it really deserves to be). My personal favourites are the SianSiam Roll and the Crab Goroke. Quality fresh cuts, great presentation of dishes, generous portioning and value is what you'll find here. Expect a bit of preparation time if you're ordering a lot out of the blue (we tend to call up and let him know if we're eating in with a bigger group to give him some time to prepare the platters that we usually order).

Don't be fooled by how it looks from the outside or the humble decor, the food is good value, tasty and the portions are generous. We visited on a Friday night and it wasn't busy. It's one person running both the front and back of house, so you may be in for a wait if there's several orders going. Hoping this place gets busier with time, it deserves it!

Wow! Amazing favour. Boss is Vietnamese, but he cook Japanese Cuisine better than many Japanese/Korean/Chinese owned Japanese restaurants. Food is hearty and pleasantly seasoned. The Eel don is prop the best around town. Definitely a 5 star recommendation.

Wow, the thickness of the sashimi was outstanding! The sashimi tasted incredibly fresh, making it definitely worth trying. The agedashi tofu was one of the best I've ever had. The chicken karaage is good, though not the best. Overall, it was an amazing experience! I will definitely try it again. The food came out quickly, and the owner was very kind too.

Very hard working boss, and the food is such a steal. Good quality sashimi and roll, not to mention the portion and quality each dish is just 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Firstly, the decor is so unassuming i seriously thought this is one of those money laundering fronts owned by the Yakuzas. Even the pictures on the menu were not enticing at all. But spurred on by the other reviews, we decided to order a "feeler" meal, a salmon avo roll. It was good, salmon portions were FAT, avocado was luxurious and the rice was probably 2 grain thick. Feeling good, we ordered the unagi roll and a plate of small mixed sashimi. What arrived could probably feed a small army. Portions were generous, the sashimi cuts were FAT and the unagi were delicious! You seriously do get your money's worth here. Will come again!

I passed by this place countless times for a very long time and was not sure whether to go inside. The decor was simple. It looked like the food might be average and it was quiet but once I had their food today, it was the best decision that I have ever made. I was trying to think of where to eat for lunch and decided to give this restaurant a go. Their California rolls were amazing, so good and fresh! It’s the best sushi that I had in a long time, and I am impressed they are of such good quality. Before I had sushi (which I decided to try after reading the reviews on Google), I had katsu udon and it was enjoyable! Love how it looked, it looked so appealing! Although it’s quite expensive, the food was good. And their green tea was also good. Don’t let the decor deter you from trying their food. I love its quietness and I can look out from their glass doors. Lovely to see the world go by. Highly recommended. Will definitely come here again the next time and will also bring my family or friends. Double thumbs up 👍🏼 👍🏼

Wonderful service! Staff member was very sweet and attentive. Located right near the station, its my first time in Marrickville and this was the perfect place to get sushi. They offer takeaway for things off the menu. Rice was fresh, still warm. Salmon was very fresh as well. The pricing is to be expected during inflation. Small businesses like these are the best. Thank you!

Spotted the excellent reviews on Google and decided to try. Almost got scared off by the empty shop and lackluster shop front. But wow the food is delicious and so carefully prepared. Service was quick too. Will definitely be back and stoked to have really good sushi at this price point in the neighborhood

The food is good and tasty. This is a one man show, so sometimes there is a bit of a wait. It is the best deal for sushi in Marrickville.

Great place. Very understated in regards to the signage and decor. The the guy running it is a one man band. Hats off to him as he prepared me some of the freshest and most flavoursome hand roll sushi I’ve ever tasted. I was pleasantly surprised when I first came in and haven’t been disappointed since.

Really great food, I ordered the spicy chicken special roll and the service was very fast, and friendly. I’d eat here again!

Good sushi in a good location - had the small grilled sushi option and the small fresh sushi option! Definitely deserving of more business :-) keen to return for my sushi fix

The atmosphere was nice and the only person that I saw in this restaurant was nice too. The food was only okay. I would rather consider the grilled sushi medium size as a small size because I don't eat that much but that definitely wasn't enough. It also tasted a little weird but because that's just my personal opinion and because my taste is probably different (I just wanted to try something new), I still give it a total of 4 stars. I would come again but it's not quite cheap (not overpriced either) and quite far from where I live but I would still recommend to check it out yourself.

I've eaten great Japanese food in Japan and here in Aus. I can hand-on-heart say that the grilled eel here is up there with the best I've had. It was served with rice and substantial yasai itame (veg stir fry). The Sashimi was fresh and very well prepared. I don't know anything about the chef but it's clear he has a passion for hearty Japanese food done properly. Yes it's unassuming and frankly uninviting (though very clean and hygienic) , but the food is fantastic. This place deserves your business! To the owner - please consider freshening up your signage, branding and decor :)

Was dubious about the Thai restaurant name for Japanese cuisine and the perfect ratings from a couple of "patrons" but having tried the sushi myself today, I'm pleased to say that the reviews reflect accurately on the quality. We ordered the: Chicken Katsu Don ★★★★ The veges (cucumber) didn't compliment the dish. I would've preferred more of the onions that usually tops the Don. Small (14 pieces) Sashimi & Sushi ★★★★★ Fresh, delicious pieces that fit perfectly in one bite.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
