The location used to be very convenient ... That was until they started to demolish Harbour Side shopping centre. Upon arriving, we were greeted by friendly staff that helped with the bags and guided us to the parking. Reception staff were friendly and professional. They provided options and directions in a friendly manner. The bar staff were rude and made snarky remarks to to a lady that was confused on her order. They were "okay" with me though. The restaurant staff that took our booking for a dinner reservation seemed like she didn't like her job and preferred to be elsewhere. The rooms unfortunately is where this hotel falls short. There was alot of mould in the bathroom and the room looked and felt "unclean" in general. There are no block out blinds in the rooms so the morning sun is guaranteed to wake you up in the morning. I would not want to stay here again

Never staying here again. Firstly, this is not a 4 star hotel. On arrival had to stand in a queue for over 20 min, since there was only one person at reception. That was around 12 o’clock at noon- not at night. The check in process was fine and the receptionist was helpful and accommodating. But then when I saw my “executive” room I was severely disappointed. Firstly, the bed is definitely not a queen size bed, there was no robe and slippers (it’s included in the room description), and the bathroom is super old with a shower in an ancient bath tub with hardly any water pressure. Called about the bath robe and slippers and was told that it’s on request. True, the housekeeping was quite quick and brought the bath robe and slippers and also extra hangers. On Friday night we came back from an outing only to find that our key was not working and had to go back to reception and get new ones. My feet were already killing me and the extra trip to reception didn’t bode well. The pillows are super uncomfortable and there is no pillow menu like in other 4 star hotels. For ~$400 a night it’s absolutely not worth it.

I am currently finishing Day 1 of my hotel quarantine and I am not sure I will want to leave on Day 14. The staff in this hotel is unbelievable. So friendly and so attentive. If you call and ask for anything they have available, it's outside your door in a few minutes. I don't know how that is possible but they do it. The pre-recorded message they played while we were on the bus at the hotel - waiting to disembark - commented about their world class kitchen and that there would be no hotel quarantine food horror stories here. That is an understatement. 2 days in I can say, unequivocally, the food is outstanding. Very well presented and interesting ingredients and sides. We asked for gluten free options and that was no issue at all. Bless you all for making hotel quarantine something to enjoy and not just endure. Thank you! You are all so appreciated!!

Would never stay here again. It’s definitely not a 4 star hotel and it is NOT worth its price. Staff was generally unfriendly, room was dated and smelled bad, does not come with complementary water, they sell bottled water for $5 per bottle, no complementary toiletries either. One good thing was the staff that helped me check in, he was nice and friendly. Everything else sucked. This is at the very best a 3 star hotel.

Room had plenty of space. Nice big window with a decent view of Darling Harbour and a backdrop of the City. The staff are helpful and friendly. They put on an awesome breakfast and have an amazing amount of variety. Even gluten free, i noticed. They also have Late Checkout. Perfect!

Staff were amazing. Room was clean, beds comfy. 2 down lights for the entire room is rough especially when only 1 working. Needed to use all lamps to be able to see anything, reminded me of camping outdoors 😅 Bathroom was spacious but pipe under sink looks like its been leaking for a long time. Would stay here again tho. Overall a pleasant experience. Thank you

WARNING DO NOT BOOK HERE. My partner and I decided to come to vivid and stay the night here. We were welcomed with great hospitality and the room had such a great view that is partly the reason why we chose to come to the Novotel. Things started out very well until, I noticed that we could hear external noises from outside our room coming from the foyer / bar area. I was on the 4th floor and could hear kids, yelling all the way into our room. Also no one stocked our mini bar, there was nothing in it. Not to mention that we paid for breakfast as well just to wait 30 mins to be seated. I could easily walked across the road and got breakfast quicker than that. What topped it for and the reason I’m writing this review is that our room did not get cleaned even though it’s all included in the room package. Not one cleaner came to bring us fresh towels. I should not be chasing up staff to get a fresh towel because someone didn't do there job correctly. For the price we paid for the room and the service that came with it was not worth it. We will not be returning,

Amazing location right across from the heart of darling harbour and the ICC. Was comfortable, clean, and had amazing kind service. Hubby and I stayed here with two kids and they had a light show as well as tents set up for my toddlers. Such extra love and care for our first trip to Australia. Lisa and her team were prompt, thoughtful, and swift to resolve issues. To be clear, the issue we ran into was our toddler locking the bathroom door from the outside leaving us with no bathroom. Called the front team and they took care of it in less than 20 min. And kind and happy to do so. No grumpy faces here all week long! Love this hotel. Highly recommend . We will be back when we return to Sydney!

The hotel room was exceptional. It looked much different from the photos on the websites. The buffet breakfast was a big highlight of the Stay. It has a very wide range of foods. Very happy with the buffet. We had a good view from our room.

Nice view into darling harbour from level 6 (of 10). Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms were a bit dated. Roll up blinds using a crank?! Good for price in comparison to the newer hotels in the area so I guess it’s at the right price point.

Spent 3 nights here. Booked on the official website so we got a great deal. Yet I regretted adding on breakfast options as it was very boring and although I already paid in advance, the information of the transaction has never been updated on the system so every morning I had to go to the reception to solve this same problem. Wasted my time. However, the rooms were good, with great views, great location, easily access to malls and Chinatown.

Lots of issues here. From the extremely long check in time to the mold in the shower. Be aware the floors do not have secure access. Typically the floors need you to swipe your room key (there's even a sign saying as much in the lift) but unfortunately you can go to any floor without swiping your card. The shower had mold in multiple areas, the floor needed a good scrub and the guest 'premium' WiFi was $10 per day. Parking is $65 per day. There is zero water pressure in the shower and the grouting and painting looks like a first year apprentice did it. Housekeeping staff took a room key we'd left in the slot near the door to keep the aircon on (didn't leave a note, nothing). Housekeeping replaced the wet towels but didn't replace the hand towel, face washers or bath mat. I called to get some and asked the rude staff member for them to be sent up; after three hours waiting, went to bed. No sign of the towels. I will say the size of the room was good but that's about all. Check out was just as long as check in. I would never stay here again.

First guy at main reception didn't seem real friendly. Room and beds a bit smal but room and bathroom lovely and clean. Our view sucked compared to what we could of had. Bar and restaurant staff fabulous. Very friendly and great service. Bar and restaurant great place to hang out. Food was great. One thing I did notice on another review was the hotel charged more than the booking.com online price was. The same happened to us.

Great location, clean and artistic decoration and comfy bed make you enjoy the stay. The staff here has very high standard with warm heart. In room dining experience was amazing too. I ordered tandoor salmon and it arrived in room quick and hot.

After a long trip we waited 45 minutes in the hot and stuff lobby to be checked in. Finally when it is our turn we are told we have to wait another 10-15minutes. We were directed to wait at the bar. At the bar every table has a reserved sign so once again we find ourselves standing in the hot stuffy lobby. 10 minutes later we get our keys. Get to our room and the key card reader is broken, so back down we go wait another 20 minutes. They did upgrade our room to a harbour view room which was nice but it ended up being the room next to the elevator. We put up with drunks waking us up all night. We check out early the next morning and was ignored my staff playing on the games table. Probably the worst stay ive had at any accommodation in a long time. You a pay premium price you expect premium experience. I will be rethinking future plans staying here.

A quick trip to Sydney to see WICKED. The Novotel was a great place to stay within walking distance of the Lyric Theatre. Our room was clean and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant which provided tasty food at reasonable prices. Check in and check out were straight forward and easy.

Room was awesome with views of Darling Harbour and upper floor. Rooms service options were great. Plenty of space on the bathroom is always good. Parking on site an absolute bonus. It was great to walk through all the improvements around Darling Habour and only a short walk to Aware Super Theatre to see Jackson Browne and safe to walk back after the show with so many people around. Team were young enthusiastic and friendly.

Getting there by public transport from the airport is easy enough. Check-in was smooth with friendly staff. Very nice room, comfortable large beds, great view (we were already n the 10th floor and had booked with harbor view). Breakfast buffet was not exceptional but still very good with a large variety.

The decor is slightly dated and noticed a little wear and tear in the bathtub. But I love the service at the concierge and although it's slightly hard to get to (location) the hotel is in a quieter area, I had a really good sleep with the block out blinds in the room and the darkness is really nice. Even though I can hear some of the corridor noise, I don't notice other noises later in the night.

On arrival we were a little disappointed that we had booked 2 x queen bedrooms but ended up with one room with 2 double beds. We had requested to be up high as it was a birthday weekend for our 10-year-old son which we received - very happy. Also, we could not believe the surprise that was left in the room for our son's birthday, orange juice, cakes, balloons, cookies and a bottle of bubbles for us, we cannot thank you enough for that - amazing. The staff are beautiful people especially the bar staff, breakfast was delicious. Thank you for having us, such a shame Darling Harbour shops have been demolished.

I recently had the pleasure of hosting my in-laws at Novotel Darling Harbour, and I am delighted to share that our experience was nothing short of phenomenal. I attribute this remarkable stay to the exceptional attention to detail and hospitality displayed by Chloe, whose dedication ensured that every aspect of our visit exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, Chloe greeted us with a warm and genuine welcome. Her professionalism and attentive nature were evident as she patiently listened to our needs and preferences. She took the time to understand our requirements, ensuring that our stay was tailored to perfection. What truly set Chloe apart was her genuine hospitality and thoughtfulness. She went the extra mile to make us feel special and valued as guests. Whether it was surprising us with a thoughtful welcome upgrade that made our stay more comfortable, her efforts left a lasting impression. The Novotel Darling Harbour itself was a haven of comfort and luxury. The well-appointed accommodations provided a serene retreat after a day of exploring the vibrant city. Overall, our stay at Novotel Darling Harbour, thanks to Chloe's exceptional attention to detail and hospitality, was truly phenomenal. We look forward to returning to Novotel Darling Harbour in the future to create more cherished memories.

The service from all the staff was outstanding! Had a great experience staying several nights at Novotel Darling Harbour. The little things made it memorable, like kids activity packs in the restaurant, the kids buffet, a handwritten thank you for your stay card from a staff member in the room, friendly service with personality (not robotic like some hotels) and a great atmosphere. I think to improve the recreation area including the gym is small for the size of the hotel and the pool is outdoors (an indoor spa would be good for the cooler months). The location is good.

I had a 2 night stay at this Novotel for the first time. Although a seemingly a slightly older hotel, the facilities were clean and of high quality. There was a little noise from adjacent hoteliers but this was short-lived. Easy to get to places of interest and eateries. I must have arrived in at rush hour as initial check in was quite busy with 3 lines of around 8 people each, so a wait of about 15 minutes unfortunately. Our conference room was adequate and catered well for. Cannot really fault the service and facilities.

Was a nice room but the attention to detail in the cleaning was terrible.. table and coffee table always dusty and toilet had empty wrappers in the the whole time we was there and cleaners in every day. Also carpet full of dust under cupboards and tv area .

This overall experience has been less than satisfactory. To begin with, the Accor ALL app would not process payment for the 3-night (2+1 free night) reservation, and I contacted the customer care team, but they couldn't help either. I was then transferred to the hotel to make a direct payment. Upon check-in, the reception staff couldn't find my reservation and later claimed it was canceled due to non-payment after an investigation. After showing my payment receipt, a team supervisor came to help and re-made the booking. I was told it was an error that occurred between different systems, and I was offered a room upgrade and late check-out, for which I was very grateful. The actual room was very spacious, more than enough for a family of four. However, the bathroom fell below expectations, with stains on the ceiling, a chipped bathtub, and an old and frail shower head. Not to mention, it took almost 5 minutes of running water before I could get hot water for a shower. The carpet at the room entrance would become wet and soaked at night, and housekeeping had to dry it up for us during the day, but the wet patch would return after a night. I suspected there was a leak from the bathroom. I must give credit to the housekeeping staff for leaving a heartwarming card on the table with some Tim Tams, which the kids absolutely loved. After the 3-night stay, I was told there was a $30 fee to pay upon check-out. The reception staff claimed the fee was for the room upgrade that I had requested. I explained that the room upgrade was offered at the time of check-in, and there was no fee advised then. The reception staff later claimed the upgrade for the free night would be complimentary, but the $30 still needed to be paid for the other 2 nights. I requested to speak to a supervisor and tried to explain what had happened during check-in. However, the supervisor did not attempt to understand the situation but interrupted and told me she was happy to waive the charge since it was only $30. I felt extremely disrespected and insulted by this act of charity. I would not have had to go through these troubles if everything had gone right in the first place. I've tried to be patient and understanding throughout my stay. There were certainly some highlights about this hotel, but I won't be coming back until the above-mentioned issues are addressed.

The as usual friendly staff at the reception provided a good service. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, although a little dated and need some revamping, specifically the bathrooms. The breakfast and dining area is too noisy.

We stayed for a week recently and couldn't have been happier. From arrival with friendly concierge staff, warm and helpful reception staff, perfect room with the best bed and harbour views to the cheerful housekeeping staff, we had the best week. Location was perfect allowing for easy access to the local attractions. Thank you to everyone at novotel for a memorable holiday.

A quick 2 night stay. Warmly greeted and welcomed on arrival and ushered to the check-in desk. Check in was very smooth. Checkout via the Accor Priority Desk was slow. Would use express checkout option next time. The only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast and whilst the hot breakfast buffet had an excellent range, nothing was hot, and most, barely warm. Our room was spacious and clean but slightly dated and shower over the bath is not something I enjoy.

I was impressed with the Hotel Manager’s professionalism and how she was able to turn a negative situation that occurred from other staff into a positive. Prior to this happening we had enjoyed ourselves immensely but due to an incident that occurred if it hadn’t been for the manager wanting to sort it out it would’ve erased our beautiful memories of staying at Novotel Darling Harbour. I’d also like to thank the beautiful housekeeping attendants who make sure your rooms are clean and tidy, who refill your tea and coffee & hot chocolate, change your bed linen, see that you have clean towels in the bathroom and vacuum the crumbs which have accidentally dropped on your floor. Also the 24 hour service is amazing. Was a costly stay but you save for it right!

I must say, it is not the best experience as I expected. The location is great. The room was great with a decent internal setup. Bathroom was a little old but functional. Double bed, TV, sofa, and a small table. The air conditioner couldn't work properly. The cold air came out even when I set it up to 27 degrees warm, and the air quality was bad, which caused sneezing. On the second day, the room service was ordered one day in advance and specifically asked it to arrive at 8 am or earlier so I could attend the conference on time. However, the breakfast did not arrive until 8:20 am. Oh the coffee came in with the wrong size. *Be aware of the delay if you have your own schedule. The staff said I had to pay extra when I ordered the exact same breakfast as the day before. The food was just OK. I had Sunrise breakfast to the room and buffet. There was nothing too impressive nor anything terrible. There was a bit of issue on the final charge as well. On check out, I was told an amount, and I paid it with credit card. (They charge transaction fee without informing me first), then they charge an additional fee which the receptionist said they would charged to the company a day after I checked out. It was confusing why it was not initially communicated.

Great hotel in a perfect location for Darling Harbour. The staff were outstanding- couldn’t do more for us, which was lovely. We had a great view of a fireworks display down the wharf. Very allergy aware - and breakfast buffet had GF options. Rooms were compact but clean. Hotel rooms needs renovation along the way but seriously that’s minor. Will come back again!

In Sydney for an event and traveling with a large group, we found the Novotel Darling Harbour to be the ideal location as it had something for everyone. The rooms are spacious, with a good range of configurations some with great views and the staff go above and beyond to look after every little detail. Our check in was quite complicated, but was handled with grace, competence and great good humour. We enjoyed all the facilities, restaurant, cafe, bar, pool and walked or took the light rail everywhere we needed to go. Concierge helped us with Maxi-taxis and bag storage. There is a little inconvenience getting down to Darling Harbour with the construction works, but we just allowed a little extra time

Very happy with my recent stay. Room was a little dated but generally clean and well-maintained. Excellent customer service from all staff especially the cleaners (always greeted customers in the corridor with smiles on their faces). Wonderful concierge staff members who were very helpful. A very welcoming team of staff!

Really enjoyed our stay at Novotel on Darling Harbour. We stayed for over a week with our 2 young kids over the new year. The location is convenient with a short walk to Sydney aquarium, Wildlife zoo and Pyrmont Bay ferry wharf. IGA express is also across the road. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again when visiting Sydney.

I didn’t stayed at the property. The issue is related to my booking I made through Trip.com and there shown price was $1552.03 including breakfast which was a good deal I thought. But NO the whole drama starts from here, I was charged $2241.21 because Trip.com prices were is US dollars not in Australia n dollars even if book in Australia. So I called Trip.com and they ask me to call hotel and hotel ask me to call back Trip.com for atleast 12 times ( and I really don’t want to mention how long was the halt on the phone) neither of them helped me in free cancellation, Instead hotel ask me that reservation team doesn’t work on weekends( so if you don’t have reservations team you guys don’t take bookings on weekends ???!! How does this hotel works!! I am from hospitality from past 15years now and this is worst ever service I had to went through. It’s not only Shame on staff but NOVOTEL Itself who can’t help their customers when they really need one. Don’t waste you time everyone who are reading this review there are plenty of hotels around who can give you better deal and will help you when you get ripped off by hotel agents.

I stayed here for my 14 day quarantine & I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, given the circumstances. Room was spacious and clean, wonderful view over Darling Harbour & the food was great with options for lunch and dinner each day. Thanks to all the staff for the fun activities and help over the two weeks! Very grateful to have stayed here.

I just spent 2 weeks here for quarantine. The staff were amazing and treated us like actual guests staying in the hotel. Room was the perfect size with a large bathroom & bath! Each time I rang reception for a coffee or ice to keep my drinks cold they would bring it up in a flash, nothing was an effort for them. The food was great too, great variety and flavour! All the nurses that rang each morning to check on me were lovely and patient. I was definitely lucky being placed here! Thanks so much for an enjoyable fortnight!

Pros: Amazing view of the city sky line from our room, friendly staff, excellent service. Top tier location for access to darling harbour. Cons: our bathroom vent wasn’t working for our duration of stay. So the entire bathroom was damp after any shower (should be fixed immediately) and only two cardboard coffee cups in our room instead of real reusable cups. plus zero spoons. Room was also a little dusty on one of the bedside tables. Asides from those easily fixable cons, it’s a great looking hotel with great service. And I strongly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in darling harbour.

When we arrived it took a long time to book us into our pre booked accommodation. We had driven a long way. Nobody seemed to know what was going on and the person in charge that day showed no concern for the delay. We ordered something from room service they said it was possible and then did not deliver what we ordered. Then when asked just said we don't do that. We went to book a couple of extra days as we needed to extend our trip and did not want to have to change hotels. The person in charge whispered loudly " What are these people going to complain about now" This is the same person who was not helpful on the first day. We wanted to place our room service order for a set time which we had done previously and were told to call back closer to the time. We are trying to support the hotel we are staying in but not getting much support in return. Ended up getting takeaway for dinner. Some staff have been supportive and local shops are saying they are hearing a lot of others complain.

We stayed for 3 night last weekend and the staff were wonderful. The rooms were nice and clean. We had our e-upgrade request for 2 king bedrooms suite approved for the last 2 nights and our kids enjoyed the suite experience with a view across Darling Harbour. Thank you again 😄

The outside of the hotel looks old and dated, the car park beneath smells like a toilet and the lit sign on the hotel needs fixing. Inside the lobby is nicer, though it took quite a while to get service. Breakfast was a decent buffet but overpriced at $35 per person. Especially when you can get something much cheaper a few minutes walk away. Our room was a decent size but the hot water took forever to kick in and it was hard to equalise shower temperature. I think with a bit of work the hotel could fix many of these things.

  • 1/5 Sue S. 1 year ago on Google
On your site you say enhanced cleaning. Our room did not get cleaned, we stayed for seven nights, the cups and glasses were dirty, nothing got wiped over, floor not vacuumed, until we complained, we thought it would get better but it did not. On the second last day I spoke to the manager, he apologised and offered us free breakfast. Considering we still have Covid all around us, the standard was very very poor.My sister was in the room next to us there’s was exactly the same, one of the staff even asked them did they think the room needed vacuuming. So in hindsight this hotel is not cheap to stay in, they need to lift their game 100%.

What a service! I took my son to stay at the hotel for his birthday. We've got a room overlooking Cockle Bay Wharf. Stunning view, esp the night view. To me, this is the most beautiful part of Sydney. We love the hotel, this is our second stay this year. Love it. I also love the fact that there's a bath tub in the room which you don't find it available in most hotels. And this time we found a new treasure - Deep Nature amenities which is new to the hotel. They are absolutely lovely. The scent, the freshness, and how my hair feels after the wash. It adds extra points on top of everything else.

Nice room and bathtub. Good location. Good service. Great buffet breakfast with very good variety of food with beautiful view. Room is not well soundproof. I can hear the noise outside of the room. It is a little tricky to walk back to the hotel, you will need to find the bridge to cross the road.

Hotel itself is nice. On the harbour with sweet views. Food however.... Not vegan friendly. There is one option - garden salad. The concierge then pointed out there was a pub and a kebab shop a block up. Wow, thanks for the sweet Intel. Also for breakfast you can't even buy toast. TOAST! buffet breakfast sir....

One of the most amazing hotels we have ever stayed at. Room is fabulous, very large with a view of darling harbour to die for. Hotel is stunning with beautiful common areas, restaurant, bar, terraces, outdoor swimming pool, gym and tennis court. Staff are beautiful, so helpful, friendly, pleasant. Having a fabulous time. 5 star all the way. Highly, highly recommend!!

This is a good place to stay with family. Things I loved here: 1. Awesome breakfast 2. Comfy reception area 3. Decent rooms 4. Room service - efficient and great food Things which could be better: 1. Facilities - pool is average 2. Access to darling harbour as front access is not easy since the harbour mall has closed down 3. Check in time 3.

Stayed in this hotel for a business trip - 3 days, 2 nights. The room I stayed in was spacious. However, the bathroom fixtures need updating, especially the sink! The food was okay, nothing special. Ordering food from room service after 10pm - you only had 2 choices, make sure you don't go hungry after 10pm! Just bring lots of snacks with you. Location was good, it was nice to walk by the harbour at night.

We just visited family who had a double storey suite here. Complete with great views, 2 large bed rooms both with ensuite, plenty of social area/seating upstairs and downstairs. There was an expired cheese platter with lovely (but clearly old and dried) cheeses and soggy crackers. I think there was just a simple mix up there. There were only two cups for hot drinks which seemed odd and only 4 capsules of coffee. This suite comfortably sleeps 2 couples. Dinner at the restaurant downstairs was fantastic!

Loved how this hotel was kids friendly and very nice for families. Breakfast buffet was good and the waiters were very friendly. They provided colouring activities for the kids to keep them occupied which was great. Rooms were clean but the bathrooms can use some upgrading and maintenance. Overall our stay here was great and kids enjoyed it.
